Text replacements synchronization doesn't work on my Mac

Hello, I cannot make text replacements synchronization work on Yosemite (the same problem was on Mavericks – I hoped, that Yosemite will fix it, but it didn't). The symptoms are:
Synchronization backend work properly: when I add or update shortcuts on my iPad, the change will appear in sqlite database stored in ~/Library/Dictionaries/CoreDataUbiquitySupport/... on my Mac
When I go to Keyboard Preferences → Text, I can see shortcuts synchronized from my iPad there
The shortcuts doesn't work in applications at all (even if they are enabled via Edit menu)
I started to play with brand new user account on my Mac and I was able to make synchronization work. After some investigation I found that shortcuts are automaticaly copied from ~/Library/Dictionaries/CoreDataUbiquitySupport/... to ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist under NSUserDictionaryReplacementItems key on this new account, but on my real account they don't appear there. If I add some shortcut to .GlobalPreferences.plist manualy, it works in applications as expected. So something which is responsible for keeping CoreDataUbiquitySupport and .GlobalPreferences.plist in sync doesn't work, probably. Any ideas, how this can be fixed?
By the way, there is one more issue with shortcuts: add/remove/reset to defaults buttons are missing in Keyboard Preferences → Text.

Synchronize doesn't work

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 and ever since I've done
this the synchronize doesn't work most the time.
I have a page right now, that I make changes too, save it,
and try and perform a sync. It goes through it's thing and then
comes back with a message 'no changes found'. I can put the file
manually, and it uploads it just fine.
What's wierd, I can run the sync again and it will find other
files it says needs to be uploaded (still not the one I actually
made a change too).
It's doing this to many different files, not just this one.
I've already tried deleting my 'site' with the site manager
and recreating it. That didn't help.
I even tried deleting the folder on the webserver, and
running the sync. Still got the 'no changes found' message.
What else can I do?
Is there a way to reset the sync?

I'll put my hand up too with these same problems.

It has got to the stage where I no longer trust Dreamweaver
to identify files that need uploading.
The first time I noticed it was when modifying PDF files
outside of the Dreamweaver application, but within local folders
that were managed by a Dreamweaver site. I would dutifully Refresh
the site and then attempt to Synchronize. Dreamweaver simply
ignored the fact that the PDFs had changed.
Then I would manually "Put" some of the PDFs... and
Dreamweaver would suddenly recognise a few others that needed
uploading. It appears to be completely random. (I'm sure it isn't.)
Further to the synchronization problem, I'm also finding the
FTP connection socket to be less reliable than other programs. Have
resorted to using Cyberduck to upload to one particular overseas
server, where Dreamweaver drops the connection frequently.
My hope is that Adobe takes the best of GoLive's
synchronicity and general file management... and uses it in
Dreamweaver.

The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP. It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error. I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps. I closed apps manually a few times to no avail. I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it. The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive. This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

Icloud password suddenly doesn't work on my mac

My apple user name and password haven't been changed at all for a long time. I have used it to access icloud and the itunes and everything.
But suddenly the password doesn't work 'on my mac.'
However it still works fine when I access icloud.com from my same computer.
But when I try to "manage my account" from system preferences (icloud), it doesn't work.
And also, when I access the itunes store from my same computer it doesn't work.
There are no error messages-- when I type in the password and press return it just reverts to the same page in which the password field is empty.
OSX 10.9.4

Try that, if the problem is new since you upgraded to Mavericks.

I am currently using iphone 4 - recently upgraded to IOS 6,
and it doesn't work on my mac - a version of MAC OS X 10.5.8. - when it connects to itunes - which i have a latest version upgraded on my mac.
I tried to upgrade the Mac software of 10.6 and later versions to the latest versions, but i can't download them.
That's why I can't use itunes to upload the songs in my iphone, which is my biggest concern right at the moment.
Let me know how I can upload the songs in my iphone!

Upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6 is a paid upgrade not a free download.

but I cannot do that because whenever I try to activate notes sync in iCloud, my mac merges the notes I have 'On my Mac' to the iCloud and deletes the 'on my mac' section.

Create a document with some straight quotes.
Then: Edit, Substitutions, Show Substitutions, make sure Smart Quotes is checked, Replace All.

No, you're doing it right. Try the exact same procedure in TextEdit, which also relies on OS X's text substitutions mechanism for this, and you'll find it works exactly as you expect. This is a lingering bug in Pages 5.

Annotating pdf documents in Preview - the text search feature doesn't work?

I'd like to annotate my pdf documents using preview. However, I realized the other day that as soon as I start annotating a document (with notes, shapes, highlighting, etc), the preview text search doesn't work anymore.

This is a known problem. I have seen one suggestion to print the annotated PDF as a new PDF in order to get search capability back. You can try the Apple Discussions "search" feature at the upper right corner to look for more suggestions.

Static text as mask doesn't work

I'm creating a button that uses static text as both content
and as a
mask (to create an inner shadow effect). The static text is
in a
symbol. It looks perfect in the IDE, but when I test the
movie or
publish it, the mask doesn't work. I originally had the text
in a
graphic symbol and that caused the mask to be completely
ignored. I
changed the symbol to a MovieClip, and that behaves
differently. The
mask is no longer ignored, but now the mask layer itself
appears and
covers up the other layers.
I've googled for this problem and have seen many comments
about it. The
typical solutions seem to be to convert the text to a symbol
(already
done) and use static text (already done). Yet it still
doesn't work.
I'm using Flash MX 2004.

apply it with actionscript,
make your text a movieclip and give it a name like "textClip"
then
make your mask a movieclip and give it an instance name like
"textMask" and use this code
textClip.setMask(textMask);
to disable the mask with actionscript use:
textClip.setMask(null);

My new internet connection doesn't work on my mac

I have an early 2008 Mac Book Pro 15inch and I just changed my internet provider. Now some websites don't charge or it takes them forever to do it. Some charge just fine. The internet connection is working great because I used it also on my iPod, iPhone and a PC laptop. I have a Mac OS X v10.5.8 and my Safari version is 5.0.6 (5533.22.3). I don't know what it is. I mean I can connect to the wi-fi signal but it doesn't work like it should. I still have the old internet connection for a few more days, and when I use it it works just fine like it should. Please help me if you have any ideas on how to fxs this problem. Thanks!!

I have a Mac OS X v10.5.8 and my Safari version is 5.0.6 (5533.22.3).
Your operating system version and Safari are severly outdated and possibly compromised by the Flashback botnet.
It might be your new ISP see's it and is blocking your machine in order to get you to fix your problem.
I suggest you get offline, then backup your users files manually to a external drive (emergency quick copy method)
Most commonly used backup methods
then take your machine (and all your disks and software) to a local PC/Mac specialist and have them upgrade your machine with a fresh install of 10.5 + programs (including iLife) then upgrade to 10.6.8. Snow Leopard.
They wil have to order a disk overnight, but after that it should be done.
Also max the RAM, upgrade the hard drive to 7,200 (no hybrids or SSDs) and have them check behind your fans for dustbunnies. Clean the machine.
Do not go to 10.7 or 10.8 on that machine, it's too old and at it's end of life stage, also you don't want to spend more money having to replace nearly all your software that 10.7-10.8 requires.
That machine is five years old, it's about to die, unless you haven't been using it much. but you can likely can get another 2 more years out of it with the steps I mentioned.
Later you can use the new internal drive for backup on a new machine if and when it does die. (it might not!)
If you take the machine to Apple, then they are going to hobble it with 10.7 or 10.8 and not install 10.6, also charge you a fortune for a new drive and RAM, that your just going to get a new machine instead.
When you get 10.6 installed, install Firefox web browser as it gets updates and much faster, Apple did not release Safari 6 for 10.6

Eastwest Gold Bundle doesn't work on intel macs

I got Eastwest Symphony Orchestra Gold Bundle today and just found out that it wouldn’t work with Logic 8 because it’s not Universal Binary. Now what's the best way to solve this problem? I've read that I need to spend another $300 on Kontakt just to HOST the eastwest in Logic 8 in MacBook Pro, aside of just spending $600 on the Gold Bundle. You know that's quite mad. I got the Logic Studio for $150 (academic in university store) and it works so well without any registration hassle. By contrast Eastwest comes with out of date VISE installer, tons of updating requirements, multiple visits to Native Instruments, and after all it doesn't work in your DAW if you use Intel Macs, which includes EVERY apple computer in stores right now. How can people of Eastwest sleep at night?
Anyways, I'm looking for solutions. Any work around? Please help! And thank you!

If you do end up forking out the $$ for Kontakt, you will have purchased a FANTASTIC program that also happens to include a pretty extensive sample library. I do like EWQL Gold better than the VSL subset that comes with Kontakt, but the VSL subset is only a part of what comes with Kontakt.
In any case, to really get the best of EWQL Gold, you will be much better off if you get Kontakt or Play. The Kompakt software is OK, but for a whole orchestra, it is much more convenient to have a full sampler IMHO.

What version of Sony Bridge should I download then? What should I do?
