Text roll looks wierd after burned on to DVD

I put credits on text roll and after rendered/compressed and burned onto
DVD studio. It looks wierd. It's not plain white characters.

Hi -
Go to your sequence and click anywhere in the timeline and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see the Sequence Settings. Either report what those sequence settings are or take a screen shot and post the screen shot here.
Also, please click on one of your source clips in the Final Cut Pro Browser to select it, and once selected, type Command + 9 to see the Item Properties for the clip. Either report what the item properties are, or take a screen shot and post the screen shot here.
When you were editing you sequence and seeing the slow motion in FCP, was your Canvas set to display at 100% size? Were you monitioring the sequence on an external monitor?
Thanks

So I finally burned a DVD out of a Apple Pro Res file into iDVD in PAL format. My question now is how can I find out what the exact burn properties were so that I can apply the same burn properties to a project in Compressor 4?
Is it possible to see what iDVD did?

I don't know any way you can interrogate iDVD to reveal settings to the extent that you can in a Compressor project. What you could do is open up the show's VOB in MPEG STreamclip, go to File and Reveal Stream Information; that will at least give you some rudimentary info like average bit rate. Perhaps someone, with more iDVD experience, can chime in here.
The broader question is why use Compressor at all if your current workflow is doing the job to your satisfaction?
The value of Compressor is that it gives you control over the many parameters that affect size quality.  and playability. The Compressor presets can give you a starting point for DVD delivery, Web, etc. From those presets, people typically experiment by adjusting the parameters until they get the desired results for their specific show. It's a little bit science and a little bit art. After experimenting, you may be able to get slightly better quality for the project you've successfully burned in iDVD by using Compressor and something likeToast…or maybe not.
    Good luck.

  • Video hangs after burning on a DVD

    Hi,
after burning a project with menus and several chapters, I notice the DVD is hanging after a few chapters. My DVD burner itself should be ok, I got no hardware failures and it's working fine with Nero Burning ROM. Any suggestions??
    Tx a lot,
    Kristof

You used iTunes to burn the CD? If so, it should work. The question is, did you choose "back up to disc," or did you create a playlist, and choose "Burn playlist to disc?"
If you do it the first way, you are just saving the actual music files (not in CD format) to a CD.
If you create playlist and burn playlist to disc, you are making an actual Audio CD that will play in any CD player.
If you are already using the second method, are you using a CD-R, or CD-RW? Some players have problems w/RW's.
Btw, iTunes songs are not MP3 format, so I don't think you'll be able to find a "converter." LOL

  • Template Text  Appears Reversed "Mirrored" After Burning

Greetings, I am using DVD Studio Pro 3.02 with Final cut 4.5
I have imported my Video asset with Markers created in Final cut, into DVD Studio, I drag the asset to the menu stage, and am asked to build a menu index I pick a template with the right amount of buttons, edit the text on the buttons for proper spelling an capitlization... Hit the preview button, all looks great... I burn a DVD, it pops out, pop it into a P.C. or apple and all the text is reveresed, backwords, DVD plays fine. What is up?
    Sam

It is a known bug with an incompatible graphics card in some [older] Macs. If you change your preferences to 'software encoding' instead of 'hardware encoding' in DVD SP, the problem should go away.
Also have a search of previous threads for "backwards" et c. for more detail.

  • Why does the Video looks Pixelated after Burning DVD

In IDVD when I preview the video it looks great, when I burn the DVD it comes out very very pixelated. I've changed the preferences from Best Performance to Best Quality, and the project properties as well I've done the same. Does anyone know why this is happening?
I'm using 16:4 aspect ratio Video Size is 1280x720
    Help

How are you viewing the DVD you created - on a computer or on a TV?
In IDVD when I preview the video it looks great
The preview uses your original content on your hard drive and is simply designed to allow you to see if the 'flow' (sequences, menus, etc) are what you wanted.
In addition, although iDVD 'supports' HD, it only supports it in the context of current specifications - not the new HD DV world that has two competing HD DVD formats.
This means your 1280x720 content gets downsized and compressed to fit on a 720x480 DVD. The video must be 'expanded' to play on a HD set.
BTW, your aspect ratio is 16:9 and NOT 16:4. 16:4 would REALLY be widescreen! I haven't seen THAT spec yet.

  • Sooo frustrating after burning with toast dvd still skips

Cab anyone shed any light ive tried everything and my dvds are sticking on playback!!
    Many thanks Tim

    Hi Bengt
The camera footage is from a video booth it records in dv-pal.
The dvd was edited in imovie 11
The audio was imported with original clips 48 khz and some music from ilife sound effects
27" imac 3.2 ghz intel core 13 4GB on my macintosh HD I have 879.39 GB available
Exported to idvd via quicktime using these settings
    VIDEO:-
    compression DV - PAL
    Quality - best
    Scan mode- interlaced
    Aspect ratio 4:3
    Dimensions 720x576 ( 768 x 576 )
    SOUND:-
    Format: integer ( little endian)
    sample rate 48.000khz
    sample size 16 bit
When using toast 7 i dragged the same movie exported to desktop via quicktime into toast and burnt using toast menues and also I tried making a disk image in idvd and copied that into toast and burnt that too.
    I tried the burns on Verbatim - R and Maxell - R
On the burnt dvds both in idvd and toast the place in which the dvd was sticking on playback changed every time it would stick for 1-2 seconds and then play on.
Hope all this is what you asked for bengt do bare in mind i an a beginner when it comes to all things Mac.
I burnt the same clips via my pc in adobe prem ele 7 and the dvd played through fine with no problems
    Yours hopefully

  • After burning photos to DVD Keywords are lost or mixed up

    Hello,
I burned many a photo to DVD last night and today I checked the DVD only to find most of the Keywords I assigned were now non existent except for a large group that should have read "Self Portraits" but now reads "House".
are my keywords gone and scrambled?

    Hi Warriorant,
this is a current bug. Hopefully iPhoto 6 will fix this problem.
Are the keywords in the library that iPhoto opens still correct?

  • After burning movie onto dvd it won't play on players despite being compatible (-R and -RW) the disc is either not recognised or it only plays audio. Am I missing a stage in finalising the movie onto DVD? The movies is 30mins long.

DvD burned with project from iMovie not playing back on compatible players.  Aaaargh!

    Hi
There are several things that do this:
    - Brand of DVD used
    - Type of DVD used
    - BURN SPEED
    - Material used
    - Free space on Start-Up Hard Disk
    I use:
Verbatim, SL-DVD-R, x2 max x4 Burn Speed and never less than 25Gb free space on Macintosh HD
    Material:
    - Video Codec: StreamingDV, AIC or HDV
    - Photo file format: .jpg - NEVER .bmp or other - all converted to this
    - AUDIO file format: - .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz (as on Audio-CDs) - NO .mp3 or DIRECT FROM iTUNES ! - all converted to .aiff
Then I've near to Zero problems.

  • After burning a slide show, I get a skip in audio

After burning a slide show, II get a skip in the audio about every 5 min. of run time.  I imported the pictures from i photo and the music from an itunes play list. When I play the entire thing in preview it runs fine with no problems, but after burning to a dvd, I get a skip every 5 min.  I burned to hp DVD-R (16x) and Memorex DVD-R (16x).  Still the skip.  I have burned to Best preformance, High Quality and Professional Quality.  I have even slowed the burn time to 4x.  Still the skip.  I noticed the bar at the bottom of the screen always reads 5 min. for the audio duration and when it goes back to 0 is when it skips.   The run time when I put the cursor on the audio well reads the correct 3min:35sec.

SlideShow function in iDVD - is limited to 99 photos per show.
Creating the SlideShow in iMovie HD6 or FinalCut - doesn't limit this but offers 100% control over process (audio and transitions)
Using iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - will degrade picture quality as they only deliver every second line over to iDVD.
I never use "Share to iDVD" in any iMovie version.
    • iMovie up to HD6 - Just close it and import movie project from within iDVD
    • iMovie'08 to 11 - "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (not HD) will give as good quality as they can do

  • HD footage looks jagged after compressing to burn the DVD

I finished the project in HD, I used compressor default settings for 90min hi quality to created 2mv files for DVD burning in SD. After burning the DVD I see a lot of jagged age effect especially where are lines, (eye brows, paper documents, etc). I used to shoot in SD, dvcam, and it was perfect.
    Is there a solution...?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much!!! I tried 30 sec, and what a difference. The faces are sharper, the jagged edges are smaller. I had the jagged edges even on the face before. I still have some left maybe about 20%. I wonder if anti aliasing (what should be setting value?) or details would help, but I am afraid that it would take 100 hours to process 15 minutes of footage. I might be wrong, because it did show me 100 hours before.
    Thanks again.

  • Why do my still images look shaky after I burn them to DVD?

    Hello all,
I'm in need of some help. I'm making a 30 second commercial with still images. The first problem is when I burn them to DVD and view them on my TV the shake. It looks fine on Youtube because I had to place it there for my boss to review. Any idea why this is happening?
I'm exporting to Compressor then burning using DVD Studio Pro.
Also, I put the color bars in but I don't hear a sound on the DVD or in the sequence line but I do if I'm in the View window.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've got a 9:30 am deadline for submission!

thanks, i tried the deinterlace but can't watch on the dvd player till the morning. 6:30 am i'll try to see if that worked. if not i'll try your other suggestion. gotta take a quick nap
    thanks so much!!!

  • Button Rollovers not Appearing after burning

    Hello,
Need some help. I created a DVDSP project with multiple menus and multiple tracks. Everything has been connected correctly, along with using a standard Overlay (white when you rollover, yellow when you select). All end jumps are fine, in fact in Simulator, it's picture perfect.
The problem is when I burn the DVD and test, I cannot see where my activate button is. I cannot see either on a Mac in DVD Player or in a stand alone DVD Player.
Is there a setting I'm missing to make the tracks (buttons) viewable in each Menu?
For example, Menu 2 has 6 tracks. When I select Menu 2, there is no white box to tell me where I am.
In Simulator it's a snap, work perfectly. After burning it's guess where you are...
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Dan

OK - so you have the background as m2v - that's fine. Did you remember to create an overlay file? It is this that will give colour to the rollovers...
A dash, underline, arrowhead, dot, splodge or whatever is normal to see on menus as buttons are selected. These shapes are in the overlay (actually a part of the subpicture stream) and are shown when the button is selected. At all other times they are transparent. In your case, if you don't want an underline, you need to copy the text in the background footage into an overlay file.
An overlay is simply a still image (usually a pict, not JPG - they are not good to use) which is the same size as your video format (720x480, etc) It is mostly white and only has the shapes that you wish to appear as the rollover - in your case some text. You can either do it in grayscale or use colour - the colours get 'mapped' in DVDSP and for ease, use grayscale.
To line up the words you want, take a still form the background movie and use this as a guide in photoshop. Hide that layer when exporting your pict file.
When you import into DVDSP and add it to your menu you will then be able to colour the text as you roll over it. Without an overlay file you are left using the built in text tools, and yes, they can look very blocky. IMO, by far the best look is achieved when you don't use text as he highlight, but use some other shape instead, usually alongside the text somehow. It's a personal preference, and I'm sure you've got ideas of your own!
