Text is selected one or two lines away from where cursor is located

I'm viewing a PDF in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0, and when I try to select text, it actually selects text 1-2 lines off from where the cursor (I-bar) is located. This makes highlighting text extremely difficult. The PDF was created in Acrobat from a .docx file. I've also tried creating the PDF from MS Word for Mac 2011. Same problem.
If I try opening the very same PDF file in Adobe Reader, the cursor highlights text just fine. If I open it in Preview, it works fine too. Just won't work in Adobe Digital Editions.
System: Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite

You say your Powerbook but your profile indicates a MacBook Pro. Sounds more like a hardware issue than anything else. Post over in the hardware forum area of the Mac you have.

Can someone explain to me what are the benefits of compound path when it comes to text? I can understand one or two lines but a whole paragraph?

Every year we do a fundraiser to help my job, but my co-worker is getting frustrated. We receive outside files laid out in Illustrator, but the person who does the file sets all of the text using compound path. These aren't one or two lines of text to be manipulated but whole paragraphs of text. This person does this every year, and it is time consuming if my co-worker can't manipulate a paragraph without going to each individual layer that has a letter. Is there a way to make these compound paths merge as one without altering the document i.e. make some element disappear. Any kind of help is appreciated.

As I (mis)understand it, you should simply ask this outside person to keep all text as Live Type, using a font that you have on your machines (in the exact same version) so there will be no font substitution issue(s).
That way, you could get the job done without silly waste of time.
Failing to comply would seem quite uncooperative.
I presume there is no copyright question onvolved in this.

File adapter-How to set line break in text file-split record into two lines

Dear Guru's,
I have to solve following problem with XML (with mulitiple records) to TEXT file scenario using file adapter. I have to output for ever ONE data record in XML always two identical lines in text file. Second line should have a little bit different mapping in few fields like date,... So I did duplicate fileds in my output structure in mapping and need to know how to set line break in the middle and see half of structure in first line and next structure half in second line
My output structure in mapping is:

Question is how can I set on receiving file adapter in Content Conversion Parameters that fields from first structure half INTERFACE...RENDITE should be outputed in one line and fields from second half of structure INTERFACE2...RENDITE2 should start on second line in final text file.
I'm getting at the moment one line only and I need to know how can set line break so that second line starting with INTERFACE2(CA)...RENDITE2 will start in new line.

It wont help if I add two identical structures in mapping because in output i would see for multiple entries section with first lines only and after that section with second lines only. And CASHFLOW is one part of more complex mapping ...
(This is final output structure RecordsetStructure=HEADER,CASHFLOW,CONDITION,REFERENCE,CONTRACT - more sections with different data and all these should have duplicate lines at the end)

right, I did test just for sure.
Putting constant 'nl' into field CASHFLOW-INTERFACE1 didnt help - still getting one line instead two lines.

So there is still question. Is there any way (mapping,...) how to output always 2 lines in text file for one record in XML. It always does 1 record in mapping structure = 1 line but we need 2 lines ...
Example:
Input: 4 records in XML
Output: 8 lines in final text file ...

Refurb sub contract PO one material two line items

Hi we have the following scenario:
We have a sub contract (item category L) for a rotable spare. We create a service PO for the MATERIAL. When the invoice comes in there are two line items as we charged for materials used to repair the item at one tax rate, and the service to replair the item at another rate.
How do we goods reciept / SES this to ensure that we only get stock of one coming back in from the vendor but capture two lines in the invoice to ensure that the invoice doesn't block? So we can't create a two line item PO as the goods reciept would book two into stock.
Any suggestions?

When you have one PO line item for Recursive BOM , and one for service, this will not book two in to stock
One will be material into stock and other will be service payments, not stock as no material is involved in service
So you can do recursive BOM for same item , at this item you can capture material used by vendor
And at the second line with item category "D" you do service entry both can have different tax codes

Different ship to party for one of two line items from sales order

Hi Experts,
1. The Sales Order No.19701 is an Export Order, received from M/s. Industries & Construction, Indonesia. We have to supply all the materials on FOB Indian seaport basis.
2. However, we have to dispatch against Line Item No. 280 & 290 to one of our subvendors, M/s.Industries, sec,rabad to complete some Control Assly. as per agreed Inspection terms.
3. After completion of Control Assembly & Client's Inspection materials will be finally dispatched to nearest Seaport for seafreight.
So here i can i map this scenario from sales order to billing, ship to party for those 2 items must be sub vendor.

You can map different ship to party . First you need to configure customer master for the same.
Add the alternate ship to parties to customer master of sold to party, your export customer.
While creating master data for sub vendors as ship to party ,you need to maintian proper customer pricing pricing procedure and tax classification as you mentioned customer is export customer ,but ship to party seems to be domestic ,so carefully check the same. also check the shipping condition if it is separate for exports.
Then in Sales order transaction on line item data ,change your ship to party for the line item as per the the requirement.
for further processing of this scenario ,like excise invoice and ARE1 u might have lsome issues if ship to party is liable for duties and taxes and Sold to is exempt and you are drawing only one invoice for these 2 separate deliveries. pl check on the same.

Is there a way to allow for two lines in "running header (character style)" text variable?

In my "running header (character style)" text variables, some of the items are quite long and take up more space in my header than I have room for - because I have another "running header (character style)" text variable beside it - and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to force that text variable to go into two lines when it runs out of space.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Sadly, only by adding a forced line break in the variable. Adobe’s engineers are unable to allow long variables to break at the end of a line. Sad, since this is a feature I remember from a Macintosh word processor I used in 1988.

Text in Menu/Submenu canno tbe changed while using menu widget. However, if you use the Manual Menu option, then you can create your own Menu and add the hyperlinks according to your requirement.
To create Manual Menu, please follow the steps below :
1) In the Widget palette, go to "Menus" click and drag "Vertical/Hrizontal" into your artboard/workspace
2) Click on the widget itself to a blue arrow appears to the right
3) There is a drop down called "Menu Type" set it to "Manual" (as shown in screenshot) :
4) Now You can create your own Menu and add your own text and hyperlink to this Menu.

as the window resizes the UIcontrols are also resized if wrapping is enabled and they will be in same row.
as u mentioned they are two containers in root container but appears one by one do as below
for root container
set layout - grid layout
colcount - 2
for 1st child container
set layout -grid layout
set colspan - 1
as u requre 3 Ui control in it
set colcount of child container to 3
add the UI controls
set the colspan of UI controls to 1.
do as same for second container
