Text running too wide

I'm working on a small site, and for some reason the text on
some of the pages are causing them to run really wide in Firefox.
They display fine in IE and Safari. I've tried stripping out text
formatting, but that hasn't helped. And some of the pages work
fine, but when I do a Save As and paste in the problem text, they
explode to the right. Can anyone help me out? The pages that don't
work are:
home.ptd.net/~judyross/
home.ptd.net/~judyross/editorial.html
home.ptd.net/~judyross/catalog.html
But these two do:
home.ptd.net/~judyross/illustration.html
home.ptd.net/~judyross/contact.html
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  • How to fix the with of buttons when boolean text is too wide

    I need to change the boolean text of boolean. But the size of buttons is increasing when the text is too wide.
    I have created a SubVI to avoid that. But it is taking some time to compute...
    If anyone has a better idea...
    The reason why I need that is becase I don't have control of what the user will put in the button.
    See the example attached.

    Right-Click on the Booleans and select "release text". This will decouple the size of the boolean from the size of the text.

  • Text area too wide in Forums

    Sometimes but not always, pages on this forum show up extra wide so the text goes off the side of the screen. If I scroll sideways I get to the end of a long long line, and sometimes, if the paragraph is long enough, the text wraps to a new line.
    Other times the pages come out fine with paragraphs wrapped to a decent width.
    I have seen different behavior in the same thread. I don't know what, if anything, makes it do the one vs. the other.
    I'm running Camino 1.5.2 and tried Firefox 2.0.0.8 and Safari 3.0.2.

    That page loads normally for me in Safari 3.1.1. Not to say that it it might not have a problem in some setups, different browsers, etc....
    Edit: Ah, yes, in Firefox that thread really is very wide, isn't it. And it actually is caused by a long URL, the "http://www.newegg.com..." link in one of R. Berardi's posts, which wraps to three lines in my Safari but doesn't wrap in Firefox. It seems that Safari and Firefox have different line-wrapping behavior, where Safari will wrap some text after certain characters but Firefox will not.

    Just updated from iOS 6 to 8, I find the tool bar in the iBooks too wide as it blocks the running title of my books. Anyone experienced this? Any solution?

    In the last few days, it seems that my computer has all of a sudden caught a virus.
    As others have pointed out, this isn't malware. That should not be your first (or even fifty-first) thought when your Mac starts misbehaving. For more on this topic, see my Mac Malware Guide.
    I know the last ditch effort (after cleaning and maintenance of disc verification and permissions and repairs, is to reboot from the system disc.
    You mention "cleaning and maintenance." Have you been running utilities claiming to do those things? If so, you may be the victim of an overly-zealous cleaning job, which has removed important files and damaged your system.
    If I'm understanding correctly, you're unable to open any applications at all... is that right? Do you have any backups? If you don't have backups, you're in a sticky situation, as it will be difficult to make backups in your current state, but you shouldn't try any kind of repairs without them. (Actually, you shouldn't do anything with your computer without backups, but this is especially important when something is going badly wrong.)
    If you have backups, reboot from your Snow Leopard install disc. From there, first, repair the hard drive with Disk Utility. Once that is done, assuming repairs were successful, reinstall the system. You can simply reinstall it on top of your current system, and it will replace any damaged or lost system files with new copies. (You'll also need to update the system via Software Update after reinstalling.)
    If you don't have backups, or if Disk Utility can't repair damage, or if the problem continues even after a reinstall, post back with those details.

  • Nested table too wide in IE7, fine everywhere else

    I have a table nested into a table cell in a pretty much
    straight HTML page. It renders fine in Safari and Firefox Mac, and
    in Firefox Win. The nested table renders about 25 pixels too wide
    in IE7. Can't check IE6 because my install overwrote v.6 when I
    tried to prevent that.
    The page is at:
    http://www.monsoondigital.com/client/brotherton/index.html.
    The problem table (or the cell that contains it) contains all
    of the body content on the page: left column graphics, vertical
    separator, body text, and right column graphic. The tops of the
    cells each contain 1-pixel tall spacer GIFs to establish the column
    widths. Need some help with getting the width to behave. I've
    already retabled this thing three different ways. I'm stuck. HELP!
    (running IE7 on XP Pro SP2. Built in DW MX Mac.)

  • Published Folders Panel Issue in LR5.2 - Too Wide, Can't See Folder Arrows

    I installed LR5.2 from the CC today on my Mac (10.8.4), and when I upgraded my LR4 catalog to LR5, all of my Published Folders were missing from underneath each corresponding Publish Services tab. None of the collections of photos are present. (Hard Drive, Facebook, Flickr, 500px)
    However, each of the Published Services plug-ins are set correctly, and are shown to be up and running in the Publishing Manager. Also, when I try to create a new published folder underneath one of the tabs using the same name that I used in LR4, it says "That Name is Already In Use." So, LR5 knows that the folders exisit, they're just not there in the pane. Not only do I not see my old collections of published photos, I have no way adding new photos to those collections.
    I tried deleting the LR5 preferences and starting over, opening up and upgrading my LR4 catalog in LR5 again, but still having the same problem. LR4 still runs fine and shows all of my published folders normally. They just don't show up in LR5.
    It looks like it may just be an issue with the Publish Services pane. It's too wide to show the little black arrows at the right. (see photo below)
    Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

    At the risk of stating the obvious, did you try:
    * Pulling the panel wider?
    * Installing/enabling jf Folder Publisher (to get rid of the "(missing plug-in)" text (or delete the jf publish service altogether (disabling it in plugin manager won't do it)).
    Note: if the panel won't go wide enough, you can widen it by adding lines like this to TranslatedStrings.txt in {lang} subfolder of 'Resources' - in with your Lr program files -
    "$$$/locale_metric/Mac/Panel/maxWidth=900"
    "$$$/locale_metric/Win/Panel/maxWidth=900"

  • Mac login acounts too wide for the screen

    The older versions worked just fine, but Lion login account icons run left and right and are too wide for the screen on the macmini. So, I have to scroll to get to my account at the end of the list. Is there a way to change this?

    It is possible that the screen is too wide or too high and that the scroll bars fall off.<br />
    Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.<br />
    If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.<br />

  • Reports Parameter form via rwservlet in 9i Reports display is too wide

    We have an app which was developed in Web Forms 6/6i which we are migrating to 9iAS Release 2/Reports 9i. We are running the .RDF reports using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT with rwservlet and PARAMFORM=YES. The parameter form sizes are generally 5x5, but the parameters display much wider in the 9iAS Release 2/Reports 9i environment in the Web Browser than they did in 6i. I have tried making the Parameter Form smaller, but the display still is way too wide: The browser window has to be scrolled several inches to the right to be viewed.
    Any ideas on the root cause of this issue and how to fix? Or, any solutions to fix besides using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT? We don't have time or resources to write 100 parameter forms in Forms and do the call to Reports that way. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Judith, we had the same problem and the fix was to add the following parameter to the reports.sh file in the BI&Forms Oracle home:
    REPORTS_DEFAULT_PIXEL_SIZE=80;
    export REPORTS_DEFAULT_PIXEL_SIZE
    After that, the report server needed to be stopped and restarted for the change to take effect.

    Search the forum before posting a question.
    In APEX 4.0, set the Column Width property of the text column. Column Width doesn't seem to have made it into the external documentation, but the online help says:
    >
    Specify the column width in pixel. The attribute is used when displaying reports in the browser. Note that setting the column width must be supported by the selected report template.
    >
    Therefore ensure that there is a <tt>#COLUMN_WIDTH#</tt> substitution string in your chosen report template, where the column template(s) should look something like:
    <td #ALIGNMENT# headers="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" class="data" #COLUMN_WIDTH#>#COLUMN_VALUE#</td>In both APEX 4.0 and previous versions you can control column width using the Column Formatting CSS Style property, which allows you to use units other than pixels:
    display: block; width: 10em;Edited by: fac586 on 03-Aug-2011 09:31
    By "Description field" do you mean a report column or a text item? Is this "report" really a report or is it a tabular form?

  • Installed Photoshop Elements 13. Opened program.  FYI, I work w/3 screens.  Appears in center screen, too wide and cannot minimize it.  Line across top reads eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert.  Only eLive works.  Gray screen on rest.

    I have installed Elements 13.  The screen stretches too wide on the screen and I can't see the edges at all to minimize or exit.  Across the top I read eLive, Quick, Guided and Expert.  Only eLive comes up with anything at all.  If I click on the others, I just get a gray screen.  I am running Windows 8.1 x64.  Thanks.

    Hi,
    I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
    The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
    Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,

  • Photoshop display a little too wide

    I haven't been able to figure out a solution to this annoying problem.
    I'm running Windows Vista on an HP with a 24" LCD monitor, an NVidea 8800# series video card and when I bring up Photoshop the display is a little too wide for the screen. Not a lot too wide, just a little too wide so that the left hand side of the display is cut off...just a little. It's not inoperable as I can guess at what is there from what is already showing on my screen but it would be much better if this wasn't happening. I don't know if I should be addressing this in an Adobe forum or somewhere else but it isn't happening with my other applications (i.e. Word, internet site screens etc).
    If anybody could give me a clue, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    j.

    Are you running the monitor at its native resolution? If not, you
    should. Most 24" widescreens are 1920x1200.

  • Bookmark display too wide

    Pardon any terminology that doesn't conform to Firefox terms. When I look at my bookmarks, the display is way too wide and thus difficult to work with.
    I have lots of Bookmarks and some of them are from sites that have put a ridiculous amount of text into the "title" field of the HTML page which is what is saved in addition to the URL when you bookmark a page.
    Firefox 4 differs from Firefox 3.x in having two obvious ways to display the list of your bookmarks.
    http://homepage.mac.com/jimcarr/FF4-1.png shows a list generated from menu at right edge of icon bar and has a rational width.
    http://homepage.mac.com/jimcarr/FF4-2.png shows list of same bookmarks as displayed with Bookmarks menu. There is a very wide item off the bottom of the list that has forced display way too wide.
    Would be helpful if a reasonable width limit was imposed--either fixed to same as smaller display or adjustable in about:config.

    Are you using code in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css userChrome.css] ?
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_configuration#How_to_edit_configuration_files
    Are you using the Default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes)?
    Does that still happen with a new profile?
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />
    See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br />

  • Title Too Wide After Burn

    Often, when I create a title in iMovie, the width of the title does not fit the TV screen (it is too wide) when I burn it to DVD. However, I don't know that until the DVD is burned. Is this just my TV? I have not tried it on others. If not, is there some way I can detect in either iMovie or iDVD whether the titles will fit? Thanks.
    Adam

    Your problem deals with iMovie and not iDVD.
    It's amazing what information is in the iMovie Help files: If you plan to export your movie for viewing on a television screen, deselect the QT Margins box so that no title text is cut off on the television screen.
    The iLife Help files are your friends.

  • Wiki Tables Too Wide

    Is there a way to control the width of the wiki pages? I have several tables that are too wide for the wiki, so information runs off the edge. Other than not looking very good, it's not much of a problem unless I try to print something. Then, things get cut off.
    I'm not much of a programmer, so if anyone has some basic instructions that may help me widen the page, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks, Greg

    Hey I was following - hope you don't mind a suggestion.
    How about a CC such as.....
    <!--[if lte IE 6]><style>#main_content{width:
    720px; overflow:
    auto;}</style><![endif]-->
    I know it gives a hor scrollbar but I think it looks better

    XPPro at
    least!
    Just another opinion :-)

  • Bold font is too wide in browsers

    I actually have Linux Mint installed, but searching google indicates that the Archlinux forum has far and away the most expertise with the gnome font system, including a very informative wiki page that I have read and tried to apply, unfortunately to no avail.
    The reason I'm asking this question is that I feel like I'm so close to having a gorgeous desktop, but what looks like a rendering error looks like it may frustrate me every time I surf the web.
    I've used advanced settings (which I installed following a tutorial) to set my system font to Sawasdee, which looks very good. In fact, I would call Sawasdee the best looking screen font, by my personal preference, that I've ever used.My problem is that bold text is too thick, but pretty much only in browsers, chrome and firefox.
    The Sawasdee font family has a great bold but for one reason or another that is not what is rendering, instead it looks like the browsers are taking the regular, elegant Sawasdee font and making it two or three times as wide.
    Is there a setting just to tell the system how to handle bold text?
    Below is a link to an image of the linux mint forum where I think the text that is not bold looks close to perfect, but the text that is bold looks almost unreadable:
    http://imgur.com/owffN.png
    Below is how the fonts look in the system and how firefox renders them:
    http://i.imgur.com/MXbuM.png
    It seems to me that the problem is that the applications are making their own bold font instead of using the one available. I wonder if I could rename a file or alter a config line somewhere to correct that.
    So far, I've added this to an /etc/fonts/local.conf file that I made using the header from font.conf but it did not help
    <match target="font">
        <test name="weight" compare="more">
            <const>medium</const>
        </test>
        <edit name="autohint" mode="assign">
            <bool>false</bool>
        </edit>
    </match>
    I really appreciate any help I can get.  If there is more information that might be helpful, I am eager to provide it.

    Sorry but we can give assistance for original Arch Linux only. Please ask on a Linux Mint forum for detailed help.
    But there is quite some information about your issue in the Arch forums and the wiki. Some quick search should help.
