How do I add a transparent text scroller to DW CS3, or a
layer. I have a very large graphic in one table cell and I need to
add a lot of text over it.

How to make text scroll in a chart/graph

I am trying to make a small example labview app.
I need to show a graph/chart with continuous data measurements, plotted over time. So far I have been using charts, since they suit my needs. I have seen though, that graphs are also a possibility. So if a solution calls for that, it might be ok.
Now I have two things that i dont know how to do. I have attached a picture of what i want to do.
I need to have time on the x axis, but i can only get it in the end points of the scale, can this be fixed (see the attached picture example)
I also need to mark phase starts endings. This means I need to have text scrolling along with the plot, keeping a white marker line at the starte point of the phase. Can thios be done somehow? I have already looked into Annotations, but I dont think thats it. (see the attached picture.)
If further explanation is needed, I would be happy to supply it.

One option with graphs is to right click the graph when the code is running, select "Create Annotation". This will add a label to the graph that moves as the graph updates.
An alternative, and probably prettier approach, was discussed recently here;

I've heard claims it can be done, claims some have done it, and claims that it didn't work for them. This thread is interesting, some indications it should be possible, complaints that it didn't, and also an interesting work-around:

Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

Text Scroll Down Widget?

Can anyone advise?. I would like to insert a text scroll down panel on my site
rather than having to look at a load of text. If people want more information and read additiuonal text, enavling them to scroll and read.
Can this be achieved with iweb?

you may want to put the text block in a separate page, then link it to your intended page using iframe.

CS3/AS2 -Text Scroll Box Cannot Embed Font, Need To Link Font From Server??

Hi all - ok here goes somethin
So I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.

It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this
mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font>
This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.
Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?
I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts that stays true to the font?
To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe .. "Gotham" to be exact.

I tried this but the text looks warped and much different than it should. Seems anyway I embed it in the properties panel looks this way.. any other options??

Ticker Tape text scroller...

I am able to make a ticker-tape text scroll from right to left on my screen in PowerPoint,
but it scrolls so fast it is impossible to read it! Can it be slowed down? Please reply. Thanks!

Actually, I'm working on an iMac using PowerPoint for Mac in MS Office for Mac. I have succeeded in creating a right-to-left "ticker tape" of text at the bottom of the screen, but there is no way to adjust/control the speed of "fly by," and it currently flies by so fast it is a blur--not very useful... The "ticker tape" function is so "basic" (it appears on almost every news channel here in Japan), that it amazes me it's not a standard animation feature on either PowerPoint or Keynote. H. Slovic

Is it hard to add a link to a web page within a Java text scroller? Can I do it within a parameter tag (I would doubt that but I'm hoping) or does it have to be within the java source?

this is more the realm of javascript / ajax / DHTML, not JSF. JSF is server side, what you want to do is mostly client side. Only getting the data might involve the server.

Need help creating a rectangle with a bunch of text scrolling up within it

Hey everyone, I'm using Motion 2 and want to add a large amount of text scrolling up. Which behavior would be best to use, the Scroll up or Motion Path?
I want to create a rectangle where the text will be scrolling within it but I'm not sure how to do that. I'm I suppose to create a mask rectangle and then add the text?

As with most things there are a number of ways you could do it.
One way is, if your making a rectangle anyway (as a bkg for the text) you can make an image mask (command shift m) on the text object and drag the rectangle into the mask well (then turn the rectangles visibility back on). This works with a filled rectangle.
Of course you have to format the text to fit in the rectangle as it won't act as a bounding type area (like in AI, PSD).

Motion 4 Text Scroll... jittery movie credits

I'm using the new Text Scroll behavior on some RTF text. I love how it times it perfectly. But the resulting movie looks stuttery. It's 1080/24p. I have Reduce Flicker: Progressive on. I've compressed to AppleTV (to remove any CPU/HD overhead question) and the problem is still there.
It's just not a silky smooth scroll like I would expect.
Any suggestions?

Ah, "not smooth," of course, crystal clear now. You're saying the AppleTV output stutters in exactly the same places as the movie directly out of Motion or does the stuttering drift in time? You know, of course, that if it's constant, exhibits the same vertical displacement in the exact same place, it's the sourse movie but it is drifting, the problem is your drive or your CPU cannot keep up with the bitrate.
You mean the text effect and the underlying video are jittery. Does the underlying video play smoothly all by itself?
Try prerendering the text as a self contained movie. Does it play smoothly in QT or FCP all by itself?
I understand your sequence is probably carefully and beautifully timed. That's not relevant when debugging the effect. Change the time and see what happens to the render.
I cannot play 1080 on my machine without a hiccup. 720 plays smoothly but none of the major 1080 codecs work well from my internal drives.

Slowing text scroll without changing background clip length?

I have an intro to my movie that uses a sound clip from a song. The sound clip is 30 seconds long, so my video clip must be 30 sec long (the sound actually carries over into my next clip). I am using the text scroll to flash the title and a quotation onto the screen, but I want it to move at about half the speed it currently is.
I have tried slow motion but that doesn't work. I have also added lots of spaces between lines but it still moves faster than I want. So is there anyway we can slow that text scroll down to a reasonable speed?

drag the ends of the Title to the length of the clip.
If this is still too fast, remember 6th grade:
speed = length + time
if there's not enough time, it can not get any slower

Pull Out Tab interfering with vertical text scroll

Hi, ive created a pull out tab which opens up on top of a text frame that scrolls vertically. However, if i try to scroll the text which is under the invisible area i.e. overlaps the 'empty' container area of the pull out tab, the tab opens up, instead of the text scrolling. How do i fix this?

One possibility is to add dummy buttons to the empty scroll area of the pull tab, but I don't think that would work in your case because you basically have dueling scrollable frames.

Qt4 updated to 4.8.7: Slow text scrolling and higher load time.

System is fully upgraded, and i just noticed that every qt4 application has become incredibly slow when using QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native (slow dolphin scrolling, slow konsole scrolling)
It is probably related to text antialiasing, because if i disable subpixel hinting in konsole, it start to scroll fast.
Reverting back to 4.8.6 fixes it.
I want to use native instead of raster because:
1) when used remotely via x2go and ssh, qt apps are very fast using QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native
2) with QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native one is able to retain RGB subpixel hinting even over trasparent windows.
I'm using nvidia-340xx 340.76 with a geforce 9800GT and freetype2-infinality 2.4.12-2 if it matters.
Anybody can help please?

This does not seem to be related to an update of the xorg-server, nor to the graphic driver; i notice the same behaviour when using a remote (fast) vnc connection.
I bet it is a QT4 bug; someone could test please?

It is not just the text scrolling under native graphicssystem to be slow.
All qt4 apps with text edit widgets are now slower to open, even with raster graphicssystem.
Gambas3 ide takes 6 seconds to start; on 4.8.6 it starts in 2 seconds here.
