Text size: Apple vs Non-apple apps

Has anyone noticed on the 6 in iOS 8 that the non-apple apps like facebook, etc have a much more zoomed in feel even when using the standard view?
I like the iMessage and Phone small size.
Is there a way to keep it consistent and reduce the third-party apps size?

In the MacTracker software, the following specs are listed for my iMac:

Maximum RAM
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
Type of RAM Slots

Yes, you can. I do it many, many times a day. If you're trying to send a message to someone who used to have an iPhone and who didn't disable iMessage before switching phones, they will need to unregister their number with iMessage:

You also need to have SMS enabled with your carrier to send messages to non-iPhones.

  • TS2755 Since updating to ios6, I can no longer send text or pictures to non apple phones.

I am having no luck whatsoever texting from my iPad to a non apple phone. That includes pictures also. I have disabled imessage and rebooted and still no capable. Very frustrating.

You could never text using the Messages App with a non Apple Phone. Messages only works with other iOS devices so unless you were using a third party app, you never could text with a non Apple phone. Its impossible with the built in Messages app.

  • IWork for apple AND non-apple computers? Compatible?

Can I buy iWork for both my iMac and Macbook Air, AS WELL AS for my non-apple laptop? I was told that iWork is now compatible with non-apple computers but found contradictory info on forums. Thanks for any help with this.

You can purchase individual iWork applications (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) for download from the App Store within OS X. Apple is presently in an iWork beta for iCloud that in addition to working on OS X, will enable you to create and share .pages, .doc, and .pdf files on other platforms. No timeframe has been shared for beta exit, but it should be later this fall or just plain later.
By example, I just went to my iCloud account within Firefox 23.0.1 and IE 10 on Windows 7. Because I had signed up for the iWork beta, the individual iWork apps showed up in these browsers. When I selected Pages, all of my prior Pages documents created on OS X were there. I could open these documents, add content, and they were automatically saved back to iCloud. I right-clicked on a document and had the option to download it to Windows 7 as a .doc or .pdf file. The .doc file opened in LibreOffice 4.1 Writer.
On Fedora 18, same drill. Cautioned about Chrome 29, but worked anyway. The iWork for iCloud beta is particular about browser support (any platform) and may caution about certain unsupported features if you continue to use the offending browser.

  • 4s lagging all over with Apple and Non Apple apps freezing with iOS 8 and 8.0.2 never did before, plus lock screen lag, multitask lag on iPad mini as well

Well the next update fix all the lag and performance issues on the iPhone 4S and iPad mini?  It seems that multitasking ways down the phone's performance.

  • Best wireless router (apple or non-apple)  for use with multiple Macs

What is the best wireless router, from any manufacturer, for use with 3-5 Macs? (in a reasonable price range... sub $150)
    least problems
    most reliable
    strongest signal/best range
    fewest drops
    fewest reboots

    The Apple Routers "just work".
I also have a linksys. It takes a good bit of knowledge and aggravation getting it set up, but once working it does fine.
If you plan to use your router to share a printer, hook to your stereo, etc. definitely stick with Apple. It will save you much grief.

  • Extending wi-fi network with apple and non-apple routers

I am trying (remotely) to hep my family set up their LAN network so that all of their devices are on the same modem instead of on two modems.  The new modem that Comcast provided them is an Arris TG862 (combo modem/router) and they already have an Airport Extreme Time Capsule and an Airport Express.  They also have an iMac and 2 ipads that need to connect wirelessly, and the network needs to be extended way to the other side of the house.  There are two configurations that I think will work:  can someone confirm for me that both of these would work?  And am I right in thinking that the airport express cannot extend the network wirelessly if the airport extreme is not the primary base station?  Thanks!

If the TG862 and the Airport Extreme have to be located next to each other, should I turn off the TG862's wireless network?
If they are going to be near each other, than yes, you will want to disable the Arris' wireless radio.
And how do I do that?
Off-hand I wouldn't know. However, you should be able to download a copy of the user's guide for this device. Most likely it will have a web-based administrator interface. Within this interface you should find options to configure its wireless radio.

There are just 2 Apple apps on my iPhone 6 which do NOT connect via Bluetooth to my Buick Lacrosse 2010. These areȘ Apple Maps and Music app. Every other app (Apple and non-Apple made) work just fine.
    Any solutions?

Double tap Home button and delete Maps from multitask-bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • Can I back up a non apple laptop if I had an external hard drive to my time machine?

Can anyone advise of a nice back up tool to use with time machine for non-Apple products?
Have used synctoy previously, and would like to auto back ups for all my devices, apple and non-Apple.
Have searched for advice on this in forum but could not find
    Please help :-)

There is no such thing as a universal backup software. Each and every OS will have its own backup methods and software.
Time Machine is the Mac backup software.. it is not hardware.. what you are referring to is Time Capsule which is unrelated to the Time Machine.
We cannot give a generic answer to backup tool for every non-Apple device in existence..
The backup software is not on the Time Capsule.. it is nothing but a hard disk in a router. To every device Apple or Non-Apple the TC appears to be a Network Drive. Nothing more.
Windows for instance has the worst built in backup ever conceived of by man.. and if you own a home version of windows it will not even work to a network drive. So you need to buy one of the zillion backup programs available for windows that can actually backup to network drives.
But this forum is not about windows software.. look up what are good windows backup software in windows forums. Apple might sell the TC as windows compatible but they provide no backup software for windows. Or every other non-apple device in existence.
    If you are interested,
I use Macrium Reflect free version for full disk backup and if you pay the licence you can get incremental to work.
Genius time line is a TM like backup that is promoted here in answer to this question all the time.. I am not sure. in windows circles, it rates very well, but here it looks like Time Machine so is popular.
    Pick whatever.
For iOS it is not backed up to the Time Capsule at all and has no backup 3rd party I know of.. Apple designed it to backup to iTunes or iCloud.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
For Linux you will need to look it up yourself.
And the other Non-Apple products.. Android and the million other non-apple, all of them will have their own methods..

  • Non-Apple content stops playing at 1-minute, 23-seconds on iPod(s)

For some reason my iPod(s) only seamlessly play through my imported music or Apple purchased files. For example, I use cd Baby, Amazon, and eMusic, as well as iTunes for downloading music and everything is played through my default player (iTunes); however, when I try to listen to my iPod via headphones or wirelessly, any non-Apple content stops playing at 1:23--everytime.  So, if I were in the shower and listening to my iPod via one of my wireless bluetooth speakers and I forget the source of where it came from (Apple vs. non-Apple) then I could be without music.  I cannot figure out why my iPod (I have several iPods and one is brand new) always wants to stop at 1-minute, 23-seconds for any content not purchased from Apple.
As you can imagine, this becomes quite a mess when listening to a playlist.  As a result, I find myself having to skip to the next song quite a bit now. Anyone else have this issue or have a suggestion?
Wasn't an issue until iTunes 10 and later.
    Thanks.

Sounds to me like it needs to go back to Apple again. Frustrating I know.
I suppose you could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
To exit forced disk mode, reset the iPod.

I am having the sames issues.  I was on the phone with Apple over the weekend.  I was told they would report it to their engineers.  It would seem this problem occurred  first in May and June and was resolved from what I have read this morning in past discussions, yet seems to be reoccurring again as of this weekend.
