Text table Description

In an ALV report i have created, I have a column displayed which has an underlying text table associated with it for the value description. Does ALV reporting have the capability to retrieve these descriptions from the Text table. I want to display the descriptions rather than the values. Can this be done in an ALV or alternatively is there a function module to manage this?

I think it is not possible.
The best way for you is to add a column ( add a field in your alv table ) which will be the description.
You'll have to adda select statement to get this description.
Then in the ALV function, you have the possibility to hide the column value, the column descripton will be displayed.
It's the easiest way.

1. Long text for product catalog area (t-code: COMM_PCAT_ADM; Product Catalog: PCSHOP)
I found a table named STXL(STXD SAPscript text file lines), maybe, it is related to the long text(product catalog area), but I can not get anything from the field CLUSTD of the table STXL as its data type is RAW. Maybe, there is a text table in CRM to store these long text information, but I dont know, Could you please give me some ideas?
2. Long text for product description (t-code: COMM_PCAT_ADM; Product Catalog: PCSHOP)
I found a table named COMM_CFGLNGTXT(Long Texts for Different Objects), I can find some long texts(product description) in this table, but some others, I can not find them. I dont know why? Maybe it is not a correct text table. Could you please give me some advices?

Hi Uwe,
Implement the BADI DOC_PERSONALIZE_BCS and use method PERSONALIZE_DOCUMENT. In this method therz an parameter FLT_VAL, this can be used to derive the description.

Display Description from Text table on View Cluster

Hello All,
I have the below requirement for creating a view cluster to maintain customizing data -
V_TAB_1 has been created for table TAB_1. TAB_1has a text table associated with it.
V_TAB_2 has been created for table TAB_2. TAB_2 has a field which has foreign key relationship with the key field of table TAB_1.
I have created view cluster using above views V_TAB_1 and V_TAB_2. Now while maintain the data using view cluster, description is no visible on the UI.
First Level of Data: This maintains the data in table TAB_1 and its text table.
Now, If I select any record and click on the sub node of the view cluster - Following appears
Second Level of Data -
If we look at the data in the second screen shot, description 'Nitesh' is not coming against the reason code '1'. this is highlighted in the second screen shot
I have tried to populated with Events as well. But could not succeed. Any help would be highly appreciated.

I try to see the data of CSKS by SE16 and I can't see the text field (my release is 6.00) but I can see that field by SE16N, so just the situation like yours.
Probably the fields of this table are too much, because SE16 can display the text field of other tables having a text table

Maintenance view does not bring the default language in the Text table

Hi Experts,
I am creating a maintenance view with the join of two tables
TAB1 has following fields
MANDT
CATEGORY
TAB2 (is the text table for TAB1) has the following fields
MANDT
LANGU
CATEGORY
DESCRIPTION
I have created the maintenance view with
MANDT
CATEGORY
DESCRIPTION
When Itry to maintain the data through the view I can insert teh data in TAB1 but in TAB2 it doesnt take the default language key.
I want my default language key as 'EN'.
I have referred V_T77TMC_EDUTYP, but I cannot find the reason why in my custom view I dont get the language key.

Hello Anu,
I believe that according to definition of maintenance view, for text tables there should be an automatic entry for sy-langu in SPRAS field. So, you should be able to get this without activating any TMG events.
I suppose you have created a maintenance generator for your maintenance view and updating entries using SM30 for that maintenance view.
Please check that you have created the text table properly. Check while putting TAB1 in SE16n and pressing enter, do you see TAB2 in 'text table' field ???
Make sure while defining Foreign key relationship, you have used 'Key fields of a Text table' option.
Do share if you face any problem ?

Search help for a field using a selection method which has a text table.

Hello all,
I am trying to create a search help for one of the fields in a structure say RFCDEST. Now for this i am giving the selection method as the DB table where all the RFCDEST are maintained. However there is a text table which is also comes up for this selection method and the description of the filed RFCDEST is in that text table and the description is not stored in the main table which i specified as the selection method.
My query is that on F4 now all the rfc destinations are being shown however the description i am not able to show them because there is no field in the table specified in the selectionmethod which hold s the description but instead it is there in the text table, how can i fetch the description from there and display in the search help.

Alternative to text table?

Hi All
I have created a custom table where the superannuation fund code (data element P13Q_FCODE), along with a start date and end date are primary keys.
The texts for the superannuation fund code are maintained in table T5QSD.
What I am after is as follows: when a user wants to see the contents of the table I want to also include the description (from table T5QSD).
I cannot use the text table concept as table T591A is already using table T5QSD as a text table.
Does anyone know if there is an alternative way to perform the task. Should I be looking at creating an event?

How to attach a text table to another database table,
Ex: If we check Mara table and GoTO menu select text table it is displaying MAKT table, how to link that?

A text table is a table that contains spoken-language descriptions of values in a check table. These descriptions are stored in multiple languages. The primary key of the text table is the same as the primary key of the check table, with the addition of a spras (language) column.
For example, the ztxt005 table has country codes in it. Country names are stored in a separate table named ztxt005t (shown in Figure 4.7) because you actually need many names for one country code. Because it stores language-specific descriptions of a generalized code, ztxt005t is called a text table.
The primary key of ztxt005t contains the same fields as the primary key of ztxt005, with the addition of a spras (language) column. The spras field contains the language code and enables this table to contain a description for multiple logon languages.
The primary key of any text table is composed of the fields mandt and spras, followed by the validation field (or fields). One or more description fields follow this primary key.
A foreign key relationship is defined on ztxt005t-land1 to check table ztxt005. The foreign key field type should be key fields of a text table.

Tracking entries in Text tables

Hi Experts,
I have a text table and some entries in it have their descriptions truncated .
Now i want to see who changed it last.
Last Changed by parameter doesnt give the relevant information.

- Try to find the transport request generated, (you can check via SE16 on E071 table or via transport tools) - that can be an update of table as well as a translation, or even a SP installation
- If data change log flag is on in technical settings of this table, check via SE16 on DBTABLOG (or transaction SCU3)

Text Table entries for 0Material not visible in report

Hello All,
I have been executing a report to evaluate the forecast error. In this report, when I drilldown via Material, I get the description of the material for few of them and for remainder, just the key is displayed in the description as well as the key of that material.
I checked the text table for entries of such materials and to my surprise, the text entries do exist in the cube for these materials as well. But it is not being displayed in the reports.
I also checked the property for Material in the query nd it is being displayed as 'Text and Key'. So there seems to be no issue in the query as well.
Can someone put some light on this and help me reach the solution?

Dear Chaitra,
When displaying a characteristic by key and text, the BEx Query Designer automatically displays the shortest available text from the InfoObject's text table. BEx automatically selects the shortest text available from an InfoObjects text table when displaying a characteristic by key and text. When a text table has a short, medium, and long text field, the short text displayed.
Try by changing it display as property to long/medium text.
Plz revert back for if still had any doubt.

How can I find text-item description and content in database?

I make "Actual news" region with text and simple image items.
With "Custom Search" autoquery I make news portlet with 10 latest news.
But I will make with PDK-Java discussion portlet, in which users can read and write about last published (last created text item display name and content) news.

- How can I find text-item description and content in database?
- How I can sort text-items to find latest created in my region?

Mvt Type Text Table T156HT - How to configure?

Hi all,
There is a text table to support movement types - it's a general description table, unlike T156T. Seems like none of the Z* movement types created (copied from standard mvt types) has made an entry in this table during config.
Anyone know how to update this table?

Hi,
It is suggested that you should not do any direct table entry.Always follow the transaction OMJJ to copy the std movement type to the customized movement type.
If it is not possible then you can follow the steps:
1. goto trnasaction SE11
2. Enter the table and press display
3.goto "Utilities"
4.Select"Table Content"
5.Select "Create entries"
This is not a process which should be used as a practice.

Does anyone have any idea - is there any table that stores the descriptions of the tables?
Example: MARA: General Material Data
               VBAK: Sales Document: Header Data
Can anyone tell me where can i get these descriptions?
Actually my requirement is i need to get the descriptions for the transaction VK15 key combination?
Like    SalesOrg/Material
          Customer/Material etc.. The corresponding tables for these are A902 ... etc.. and these are descriptions for these tables.

Text table - If you want to create TEXT table for any table then just need to create table with the key fields of the other table along with that we need to create 2 more fields - those are language field & description.
Value table - Any table can be attached as value table for the table, only thing is field relations should be there in that table.
for step by step process to create tables - check the below -
Go to SE11,
given ZTABLE name and Create.
In Delivery Maintainance Tab..
Choose Delivery class A
and Display/Maintaintance Allowed
Go to Fields tab.
Provide ur table fields with MANDT is first field for client dependent.
If there is QUAN, CURR type fields then u must provide reference to them.
Save and Activate.
Click on Technical Settings
Data Class APPLO
Size .. 0 (as per ur requirement.)
SAVE and Back.
Click on Utilities --> Table Maintainance Generator.
Authorization Group &NC&.
and provide function group for table maintainance ( u can create a function group in se37 )
click on Find Scr Number button.
select Propose Screen Number and Continue.
then Create...
Save and Back
Activate the table.
go to tcode SM30
give the table name and click on Maintain.
there u can enter values manually too.
