Text to PNG fails in iWeb!!!!!!

iWeb 1.1.1 has a serious problem dealing with some text.
See an examle here:
http://web.mac.com/kilso4343/iWeb/iCmc/welcome.html
Text sections are cut in half. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? These texts are converted to PNG files when published...

It looks like the font you have used has its baseline set too high and so displays 'too high' in the text box and so gets cropped. You may also find this happening if you print it (but not always). Not sure how you would sort it in iWeb but it is most likely a font problem and so cannot be fixed with out editing the font file itself.
However it could also just be a setting wrong in iWeb too.

  • Much more PNG files in iWeb site and make it slowly

    I found that iWeb will change some text into PNG files, it cause anyone can not copy the text from my page, and make the page size bigger and slowly.
    And then, I don't know when iWeb will change text into PNG, when it will not. Sometimes when I write some words in the page, and publish, I can see the words are in text format, but when I continue adding words in it and publish again, I found that all the words has been changed into PNG.
    So, when a page loading in Safari, I can see much more image files in my page, but not text+image same as a normal web page.
    All that make the site loading very slowly. I don't like that if iWeb look like this.

    Instead of creating a hyperlink and then choose a file, put the pdf(s) on the server yourself first.
    Create a separate folder for them.
    Then determine the URL(s) to the file(s).
    In iWeb add a hyperlink *to an external page*. Use one of the URLs to the pdfs.
    Now you can update the pdf without iWeb.

  • Text to .png any ideas/answers?

    As many people have experienced iWeb seems to randomly change text to .png files. I have read that a version of Arial is the problem, but I have tried Times, Helvetica and few other fonts which also get converted to .png.
    Has anyone a definitive answer or workaround to this annoying problem.
    TIA
    Skorpan

    I actually WANT my text as a graphic.
    On this page
    http://web.mac.com/makentosh/iWeb/zample
    the type for the player's name is Bank Gothic. When I publish it, it sends TEXT so that anyone without Bank Gothic installed won't see what I intend.
    I tried giving it a shadow (with an opacity of 1 so it won't affect my look) and it's STILL text. Any ideas?
    Just fixed it, now it's like I want it. Strange thing though, I JUST created another text block and gave it a purple background and IT rendered as an image the first time. The diff between the two is that the other was a shape with text in it (the RB was just text sitting in front of the shape with no edits)

  • Problems with text to .PNG

    So after searching through all the forums about this problem, and chatting on the telephone with Apple about I have noticed a few consistencies.
    1. People who are saying that you can get rid of the problem by switching to a common font or dropping shadows are correct but only if you are inside an iWeb automatically generated text box.
    2. If you use the template "blank" to essentially start each page from scratch, all of your text boxes that you insert will be .png format. If you dont believe it, check yours by right clicking over the text boxes in a page that you have started from a blank sheet. Right click over the text area and it will tell you the size/type depending on which browser you are using.
    So, How can you get around having to fit into the little box that iWeb wants you to be in (or at least make it look like you want it to?) and how can you use 'blank' templates without this problem?

    I still am having the problem as far as I can tell but I did notice in one of the other discussions that there was a possibility that it could be triggered when the text box is not aligned with the other features in the site.
    I am going to try that out and see what happens.
    Thanks for your time and effort in looking at how you have been creating your sites but for me, simply changing the text to a different font did not make a difference. I will double check on the opacity thing but I am pretty certain that is not the case. I even tried pulling the text out and converting it to straight text format (not RTF) and then re-inserting and no luck. I did put together a page that was very much in the little box of mac appearance and it did not have that problem but I remember specifically having all the boxes aligned using the snap to grids that the program creates. I am thinking that I should have a response sometime soon from apple since they were on the phone wiith me for over an hour yesterday and did fix one other problem that I had after our conversation ended. They are on skeleton crew until after the holiday and it is not a huge emergency since it is only a web site and it does still work fine if you are on broadband anyway!
    Please keep potential solutions coming. FWIW I am running MS Office on my Mac so perhaps that is the root of the problem but I doubt it.

  • SSIS importing comma delimited with double quote text qualifier - Works in VS - SQL Job ignores text qualifier and fails (truncation)

    I've created an SSIS package to import a comma delimited file (csv) with double quotes for a text qualifier ("). Some of the fields contain the delimiter inside the qualified text. An example row is:
    15,"Doe, John",IS2,Alabama
    In SSIS I've specified the text qualifier as ". The sample output in the connection manager looks great. The package runs perfectly from VS and when manually executed on the SSIS server itself. The problem comes when I schedule the package to run via SQL
    job. At this point the package ignores the text qualifier, and in doing so pushes half of a field into the next available column. But instead of having too many columns, it concatenates the last 2 columns ignoring the delimiter. For example (pipes are fields):
    15|"Doe| John"|IS2,Alabama
    So the failure happens when the last half of a field is too large to fit into the next available field. In the case above _John" is 6 characters where the IS2 field is char(3). This would cause a truncation failure, which is the error I receive from the
    job history.
    To further test this I created a failure flow in my data flow to capture the records failing to be pulled from the source csv. Out of ~5000 records, ~1200 are failing, and every one of the failures has a comma delimiter inside the quoted text with a 'split'
    length greater than the next ordinal field. The ones without the comma were inserted as normal and records where the split fit into the next ordinal column where also imported, with the last field being concatenated w/delimiter. Example records when selected
    from table:
    25|"Allan Percone Trucking"|GI6|California --Imported as intended
    36|"Renolds| J."|UI6,Colorado --Field position offset by 1 to right - Last field overloaded
    To further ensure this is the problem, I changed the csv file and flat file connection manager to pipe delimited, and sure enough every record makes it in perfectly from the SQL job execution.
    I've tried comma delimited on the following set ups. Each set up failed.
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    Since a lot of our data comes in via comma delimited flat files, I really need a fix for this. If not I'll have to rebuild all my files when I import them to use pipe delimiters instaed of commas. I'd like to avoid the extra processing overhead if possible.
    Also, is this a known bug? If so can someone point me to the posting of said bug?
    Edit: I can't ask the vendor to change the format to pipe delimited because it comes from a federal government site.

    Just wanted to share my experience of this for anyone else since I wasted a morning on it today.
    I encountered the same problem where I could run the package fine on my machine but when I deployed to a server and ran the package via dtexec, the " delimeter was being replaced with _x0022_ and columns all slurped up together and overflowing columns/truncating
    data etc.
    Since I didn't want to manually hack the DTS XML and can't install updates, the solution I used was to set an expression on the textdelimiter field of the flat file connection with the value "\"" (a double quote). That way, even if the one stored in XML
    gets bodged somewhere along the way, it is overridden with the correct value at run time. The package works fine everywhere now.

  • Some text in PDF fails to print -- document originally created with InDesign

    Hello. Thanks in advance for your help.
    I joined Creative Cloud a few days ago, and dowloaded several CS6 programs -- InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat XI Pro. My operating system is Windows 7.
    I created a simple order form using InDesign, and it prints perfectly directly from the InDesign platform. After creating a PDF by selecting Adobe PDF as the printer, the resulting PDF looks perfect on screen when viewed in Acrobat XI Pro. However, when printing from Acrobat to a paper-and-ink printer, chunks of the text go missing. Two other people who were emailed the PDF of this document have experienced the same problem, with the same chunks of text failing to print.
    Since it prints perfectly from InDesign, I am guessing the problem lies somewhere on the Acrobat side of the equation. Since the same problem has occured with several different printers, I am assuming it's not a problem with my particular printer.
    I have already tried unchecking the "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts" option in the Adobe PDF printing preferences, and that did not fix it. I didn't expect that was the problem, since the rest of the type prints perfectly.
    I would like to attach two PDFs and/or the original InDesign document, but I cannot find an attachment option on the interface for this discussion page. I would be happy to email them to anyone who would like to take a look at them.
    As usual, I am working on a deadline and would very much appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thank you!

    YES! A SOLUTION!
    Thanks to an Adobe user who goes by "Test Screen Name" for this solution!
    DO NOT print to PDF from InDesign to create a PDF. Instead, use the Export function.
    I followed that advice, and it solved the problem. Hope this helps you, JuleeBruce!

  • Drag and drop fails on iWeb - a jpeg image refuses to drop on a photo placeholder

    About three pages into creating a web site with iWeb 3.0.4, all of a sudden drag and drop is failing.  I have a placeholder image I want to replace with a jpeg photo, but neither the photo nor any of a couple of other .jpegs that worked fine on earlier pages will "drop" onto this one.
    I've had no luck using Google to look for answers.
    Thanks,
    Jubal

    Where are you dragging the photo from?  The media browser, somewhere on your hard drive?
    Try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue with:
    move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
    launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
    go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
    move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Adding text to index.html in iWeb

    I am currently trying to convert my website to mobile phone. I'm using Fetch as my FTP client, and Duda Mobile to create the mobile site. I am trying to add text in the index.html file, however, I don't know if I need a particular text editor to do this or if I can just use Text Edit to do this. Does anyone know how to edit the index.html file to include the line opf text in the <head> to redirect mobile device users to the mobile version of my site?

    The index.html file is just a redirect to the Home(first page) page of your site.
    You can open it in TextEdit to add stuff.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <title>Title Tag Goes Here</title>
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Home-Page.html" />
    <meta name="robots" content="follow,index" />
    <!--head_code_set--><!--/head_code_set-->
    </head>
    <body><!--code_set--></body>
    </html>
    Note that you will have to do this every time you publish changes to your site since iWeb will overwrite anything you add to the file the next time you publish.

  • How to make the text and frames on a iweb-designed site look universally aligned?

    iweb was used to design my site which looks fine on my Mac but the site looks completely different on PC computers - parts of pages are cut off, text is jumbled, images are stretched out. How can the text   images be stabilized?

    What can be done to make sure the frame stays consistent no matter what browser or resolution accesses the website?

  • Hiding hyperlink text with opacity, fails to export.

    Hi
    I use the settings for hyperlinked text with 0 opacity in normal state, and full opacity on when you have it selected or a mouse over the text.
    So the text will pop up when "mouse over".
    Worked in iweb 2, (but made only parts of the text visible when mouse over...) In Iweb 2.1 it doesnt work at all....Is this possibility removed?

    Well, I'm definitely hoping that this one will get fixed soon. I have several pages that are behaving very strange. When I add hyperlinks, the pages end up being blank when viewed. I take the links away, and the published pages are readable again. It's as if the CSS or encoding of some kind is not working properly. So, for now, for the pages to be viewable, I need to remove all links from the pages. I've tested this with the latest version of iWeb and starting from a blank blog entry. Very strange. Oddly, it doesn't seem to be consistent across all blog entries. I'll try to write back as I learn more.

  • Importing text from word.doc into iweb

    This results in a graphic which cannot be updated. iWeb help suggests
    Identify items that will be converted to graphics when published:
    Choose iWeb > Preferences.
    Select “Show text imaging indicator.”
    iWeb> Prefs Click on 'Show text imaging indicator' but no change once I have done so. The text still appears as a graphic unable to be ammended.
    Any suggestions? Or is this something to do with Lion?

    Word is wordprocessor. iWeb is an application to create webpages with.
    Copy/pasting formatted text always has unexpected results.
    To overcome that, save your Word document as a html file.
    Open it in a browser and then copy/paste the text.
    iWeb will retain the formatting.
    And Lion is an operating system. Just like a Mercedes is a car. Neither has anything to do with your problem.

  • Everytime I try to send a text message it fails

    My friend just bought an iphone 4 and she can not send regular text messages out.. only imessages to people that have iphones. She gets the alert notification saying it failed to send. Also she set up her email like it told her to and now her contact name is her email address. She just wants her name there... What do we do?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
    When creating an email account, there is a name field to enter the name you want shown with the email address. Her name needs to be entered there.

  • IPhone 4 sending "ghost texts" and constantly failing to send texts

    I got my iPhone 4 at Christmas, so it is definetely under the 1 year warranty still and I haven't jailbroken it or had a screen replacement done by anyone.
    Lately my iPhone has been sending a text message I already sent multiple times, for example say I sent it at 4 pm to a friend they recived it then, but also 5 hours later and again the next day- or something similar.
    It also sometimes won't even send my texts until 3 hours later so my friends will get random texts from me that would have applied to a conversation 3 hours ago but now make absolutely no sense.
    And I would say that 2 out of 3 texts I send now stop sending and give me the "error sending message" notification.
    Also, I think my phone isn't receiving calls.  Last night a friend texted me asking why I didn't pick up my phone when I was at the Batman movie because he wanted to come find me and say hi, and I didn't know I had even gotten a call- there wasn't even a missed call. This also happened a few days ago with my dad.
    The problem is I don't know if I can get a replacement because someone cracked my screen, so won't the Genius bar just tell me its due to the cosmetic damage? It's frustrating that my phone and messaging won't work, but I will have to buy a replacement for cosmetic damage I didn't cause.
    Honestly, the crack isn't bad anyways.  Its a vertical crack, only one, that you can only see if you tilt it a certain way and the light catches it.
    But warranty probably won't cover the phone and texting issues because of that crack right?

    Have you tried to factory reset/restore your phone? May be also worth checking all the text carrier settings are correct such as message centre number.

  • Dictating text causes MMS text messages to fail.

    When I send a MMS text message that includes dictated text, it does not get sent. If I send the same MMS message and type the text, it works. Anyone else see this? iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4S.

    When in the MMS you are composing, if you scroll to the top and press the BB Menu button you will have the option to add more people. You may have to scroll down to "Full Menu" to open it up before you see "Add To:".
    When you click "Add To:", it will take you to your contacts, you just type or scroll to the person you want and click them, they will be added, and you will be taken back to the MMS you are sending.
    You will need to do the above for each person you want the MMS sent to.
