Text tool causes CS5 to crash

I have been using Photoshop CS5 and it has been working fine, but as soon as I use the 'text' tool e.g. justifying a body of text, it crashes. I have looked this issue up on other threads and followed the solutions on there but nothing has worked so far - the fonts I am using are all validated on the imac and I have changed permissions but still the problem persists. Any help would be great on this - this small problem is preventing me from finishing my work!

One sometimes surprisingly efficient trouble-shooting routine is trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed.

I have received the same solution as you gave above, from the tech team, but cant find the correct file to add the "CopyPlugins.vbs script." to....I get an error message telling me to try again and chose the file adobe indesign CC, and yet that's what I'm doing. There must be an instruction missing for finding the correct file.

Flash professional CS5.5 text tool causes crash?

has anyone had this problem? No matter how I select to use the text tool, it freezes the program and crashes it. I am on a deadline and phone support cannot help me. I am running on a 64bit machine, and have looked everywhere for a solution to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You're referring to Lesson 5 in the Adobe Flash Professional CS5: Classroom in a Book. I found the same problem. There is already a post about it here.

Calling a function with eval causing CS5 to crash

I'm calling a function depending on user input from a dialog and the resulting call is something like:
eval(fromFormat + "To" + toFormat + "(selection, data)");
where selection is the app.selection.
The correct function is called, and I can trace through it all the way through to the end of the called function, and control has returned to the next line after the eval... and this is where it crashes. Even something simple like: var a = 1; causes CS5 to exit.
When it exits, CS5 closes, with an OK dialog box coming up stating: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in InDesign.exe [6036]. ..."
Not pretty huh?
So I'm wondering what could be the cause? The called function does some shifting, and moving around of things, but nothing that I'd have thought would cause an exception.

I'm confused.
Is it eval() or remove() which is causing the crash?
If it's remove(), you can try separating the reference to the text from the hyperlink.
Maybe something like this:
var source = doc.hyperlinks[i].source;
source.remove();
or possibly, getElements() might be needed:
var source = doc.hyperlinks[i].source.getElements()[0];
source.remove();

Eyedropper causes CS5 to crash

First post...in a very long time.
Cleaned (Onyx) my Mac OS10.10.2, Uninstalled CS5.5, used the Clean Tool, Reinstalled CS5 (Extended). The eyedropper continues to crash (quit unexpectedly) CS5 when dragged outside the application to select a color on the desktop.
In Console Utility a line reads:

I can probably include a portion of the 'Crash Report' if desired...but which portion???
I cannot and will not upgrade to CC unless this can be addressed and fixed.
I might also say that Bridge Update, Extension Manager Update, CS 5 Update, and Camera Raw Update all failed to install in the Applications Manager. (Clicking Customer Support is not supportive one bit).

Touchup text tool causing formatting issue

We upgraded from Acrobat 8 Pro to 9 Pro and now when we try to use the touchup text tool the formatting gets messed up when you save. It usually puts in extra spaces and pushes letters on top of each other. Same document works fine if using the touchup text tool in version 8. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have also been getting formatting issues when simply trying to correct a typo (swapping two characters). After selecting the TouchUp text tool, I hightlight and copy a character, and paste it into the correct location. The entire line moves down a couple of points.
I tried CtDave's suggestion: Acrobat Prefernces > select the TouchUp Category
Toogle "Enable Text Word Wrapping" on/off - try use of the TouchUp Text tool in each 'mode'.
With Enable Text Word Wrapping, all kinds of unwanted word-wrap formatting takes place. But on unchecking Enable Text Word Wrapping, the TouchUp text problems seem to disappear.
This is an odd effect, and suggests a bug. Enabling and disabling the Text Word Wrapping option seems to fix the issue.
Looking at the issue in more detail, I notice that by pasted text has additional white space above and below it, which other characters do not have.

Text tools cause Photoshop CC to crash

I have been using Photoshop CC for just a few weeks. Today, it appears that every time I click on the type tool the application hangs until I force-quit. It also will hang if I try to display the Character palette. It seems that anything associated with type causes the application to hang and eventually crash. I'm not using TypeKit.... so.....
Any ideas?

Thanks guys. I turned my "Font Preview Size" to NONE. Now everything is working. I have a lot of fonts loaded, so it may have gotten stalled while trying to create previews of all the fonts. But it worked fine for the last 3 weeks since I installed CC. If you're a font person like me, you really don't need the previews anyway.

Certain drawing or annotation tools cause adobe to crash - what can I do to fix this?

When I try to use certain drawing or annotation tools Adobe crashes. Why? What can I do to fix this?

I think it is Adobe Reader XI and I have Windows 8. It has happened with a couple different PDF files. I have experienced the problem when trying to use the "draw a circle" tool as well as the "add text callout" - I have drawn some circles without a problem. Sometimes what happens is I try to draw the circle (or the other one), and nothing happens, it is as if the page doesn't realize I clicked or dragged the mouse. Then when I try clicking somewhere else in Adobe Reader it is frozen/"not responding" and I have to force close the program. When I open it again it tries to restore the changes that I had made since the last time I saved but it doesn't always recover it. I have not tried the repair option - what is that?

Transform tool causing Logic to crash??!!?

Out of all the years I've been using Logic this is a first. When I launch the Transform tool, then try to click and drag any one of the number values to increase or decrease Logic immediately freezes and then soon after crashes in a matter of seconds.
Any thoughts?

You were talking about the Transform tool, right? Well, so was I. It has presets too. There was a post about this some time ago, I can't find it though. Anyway, have you tried my suggestions? Can you work from an initialized user preset?
I also find that every velocity feature except for fixed velocity in the transform tool do no work. It only selects...it doesn't "operate". Any thoughts?
I never use the transform for that. I can select the notes I want fixed in any editor, then in the *Event Editor* I *shift-option drag* the velocity value, and they all snap to the dragged value. Much easier.

Highlight text tool causes all text to disappear on saving. HELP!

I have lost HOURS of work. I highlighted a document, as I have for years, but on saving it, ALL of the text has completely disappeared. The document is now a bunch of yellow boxes - that's it. What is going wrong all of a sudden???????

How can I change the default font for the Text Tool in CS5?

Does anyone know of a SIMPLE way to change the default font in CS 5. I can't believe how difficult Adobe makes this. I have spent numerous time on the internet trying to solve this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thanks Charles, I'm not sure where preferences are, I wish photoshop would
look at this, there should be a simple way to set font preferences. Perhaps

Thanks for the good advice. I did find one faulty font. However, the problem remains. Funny thing is, I can't change the settings on text that's already on the timeline without causing a crash. I used a crash analyzer and it says Final Cut crashed because there's flash on the timeline! None there, of course, and the timeline is ProRes so there should be no problem.
Just got to finish these few videos before I upgrade to Snow Leopard. Any other suggestions?

Text tool and repeated crashes

Ever since 10.5.3 came out, I've been having major problems when I'm in the text tool. Often, Photoshop crashes with no warning but a dialog box for a crash report. This has been happening REPEATEDLY over the past two weeks. My Mac's fan typically begins to spin at loud mode before these crashes.
Is this 10.5.3 or CS3?
