Text tool in elements 10 has taken to locking up computer

Any attempt to use text tool in elements 10 has taken to locking up computer. I do not want to pay for an upgrade until I know that one of two things will happen: 1) the upgrade will fix this situation, OR 2) there is a way to repair the problem so that the upgrade will install properly

Select the T tool and try a reset - see image below:

  • Photoshop Elements 7 - Text Tool Crash

I have a fresh install of Photoshop Elements 7 & Premiere Elements 7. I open up Photoshop Elements and start a new blank file. When I click on the Text tool the program crashes hard and locks up whole system. I have to reboot to recover.
Does anybody know what is going on? I can't believe this product left the developers like this :(
    My System:
    XP Pro latest updates
    3 Gigs
    Nvidia 8800gts 640

I have done the following today with NO LUCK in trying to get the text tool to work.
    1. I have tried the trouble shootting tips
    2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled without my AVG anti virus running
    3. I have unistalled my wirless logitech mouse and keybord (replaced with old serial mouse)
    4. I done the simplified load. There is absolutely nothing running in the back ground except windows.
It always crashes when I click on the text tool. Any more ideas?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. It came installed on my HP Desktop. I am can not get the warp text tool to work. It has worked in the past. Once I click warp text, the little window does not pop up, and if I try to do anything else after I click warp text, it wont let me. Just sounds the ding, alert, can still slightly navigate the program but can not use any other tools after clicking warp text. I just have to open task manager and close the program. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just need to uninstall and re install. Having trouble finding out how to uninstall and reinstall because the program came pre installed on my desktop.

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
    *Press Yes

  • My text tool is all in capital letters even though caps lock is off.

My text tool is all in capital letters even though the caps lock button is off. Also I cannot click on the set fond style button. What seems to be the problem?

    Hi Neale --
I am having the exact same issue, and it's a problem with any & all fonts I've tried. Of course, my keyboard's CAPS LOCK feature is OFF -- and I've tried many different font styles, nearly all of which allow for standard, non-ALL-CAPS usage.
I'm intending to use Century Gothic for the work I'm doing right now, but it's been an ongoing issue for at least a few weeks -- but I know I never had an issue with this before recently.  (Note that I typically don't use or need the text tool for most of the photo editing work that I do w/PSE, so I'm not sure how long this has been an issue.)
In addition, I would like to access other font-setting-related features, like kerning, character spacing, small caps, & other adjustments, etc. -- but I don't see ANYWHERE within the program (or on this forum...or online) how to adjust these relatively standard settings.
    Please help

You're in the wrong forum.  This is not the Elements forum.

  • Text tool has shifted 90º on me

I opened a PDF to edit some text for a job and my text tool got spanked in the process... Now, every time I go to create a new text area (even in a new document) I am creating text that is rotated 90º. The text itself isn't rotated within the box, it's the text area itself that is rotated. Even starting a line with Point Text starts writing the words vertically. I have no idea what setting, or what preference, or what little box is checked somewhere that is automatically rotating my text fields by 90º!! ?
Here is the new document setup:
Here is the NORMAL text tool selected. I created the text area and started typing. The text starts at the bottom and writes vertically.
Below is my character, paragraph settings. There are no styles applied to the text...
Below is the same effect when using Point Text (is that the right word - I just click on the artboard once with the text tool instead of dragging out an area.)
I can use the Rotate tool to correct the problem.. but this is an unwanted default behavior! Anyone have any ideas!?
    (adjusted with the Rotate tool)
    Macbook Pro
2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    OS 10.7.3
    Adobe CS 5  v15.0.2

Oh, if ony it were that simple.
The Vertical Type tool is rotated to create a normal Horizontal Type area... but the text is rotated... The solution for this box would be to go in and rotate the characters in the character panel by -90º.
Update: My arrow keys (in Illustrator only) move objects incorrectly also. Meaning, with an object selected, pressing the UP arrow tool moves the object to the left. Pressing the DOWN arrow moves it to the right. And the LEFT arrow moves down, RIGHT arrow moves up...
It's as if Illustrator has somehow confused its orientation. The mouse still moves correctly, where UP is UP.

  • Which of the Versions from Adobe elements has a gradations curve tool.  PSE 10, 12, 13 or which one ?

    Dear community,
which of the Versions from Adobe elements has a gradations curve tool.  PSE 10, 12, 13 or which one ?
    Your comment will be appreciated.
    Regards

    Yeah right ,
gradients tools are present in all these version
and curves are not present in any of these officially .
Curves are present with their own interface.
One big problem is that you'll never find them logically where they are : under the menu 'Enhance/color correstion', it's the 'adjust color curves' option.
Add to that problem the fact that this kind of adjustment is not about colours (no R,G,B channels) and you'll see why it is missed by everybody.
The interface is meant to help beginners understand how curves work : you choose the effect you want and you see the curve being drawn. Excellent for pedagogy but users of the traditionnal curves manipulations don't understand the new way.
If you want the old curves interface, you can add many free or affordable add-ons like Elements+. The most powerful and free one is the smartcurve plugin for Windows 32 bits.
    Other ideas:
    - if you don't use curves for colour correction, you can use the gradient tool adjustment layer (black to white) in luminosity mode. That's how you deal with curves in adjustment layers. Note that using gradient maps instead of curves is only a graphical way to determine the inflexion points. Same parameters, different inferface.
    - Using curves intensively was the way to edit ten years ago. Now, you can use the ACR basic tag to achieve quickly much better tone and colour correction, that way you won't need curves most of the time.

  • I click the text tool and it immediately has a border? how do i eliminate this?

I click the text tool and it opens a new text box with what appears to be a border? How do I eliminate this and get rid of the border on prior text boxes?

Relax. That's a non-printing guide. If you ever want it to print, go to the Graphic Inspector and choose Stroke > Line. You can then adjust the interior space in the Text Inspector > Text > Inset Margin.

  • Photoshop Element 7 Text Tool Crash

My PE7 always crashed everytime I try to use the Text Tool.
    How to fix this?
    Thank you.

Try resetting editor preferences via alt + cmd + shift when on welcome screen and click Edit. Also check if you have not accidently deleted files/fonts etc/ If this is specific to any file then do share the same.

  • Text corrupted in Elements 10

Starting  a week ago or so, any text entered into Elements 10 is automatically set to what would appear to be "very loose" tracking. As neither kerning nor tracking is available in Elements, there is no way I can restore letter spacing to anything appropriate. The problem exists in all fonts. I tried removing the plist, but didn't matter. I've fooled with this for days and can't resolve it. Prior to this, the program handled text just fine (although not being able to kern was a real nuisance), now Elements has been rendered useless as a design tool. A Google search turned up others sharing the same problem, but no one has offered a solution. Anyone here have a suggestion?

I would try resetting the text tool by clicking on the small downturned arrow and then clicking on Reset Tool.

  • Text Tool

Recently, in Photoshop Elements 9, my text tool has stopped working. I'm not sure why, and I have un-installed and re-installed. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

    Not much information here.
What happens when you type the text? What does the workspace look like? Is there any representation on the text layer in the layer's palette?
What color is the foreground chip (lower left corner) set to?
Are you sure that you are using the type tool and not the type mask tool?

  • Difference between 'add text' tools and adding Layers

I am trying to add text to a .pdf form that has no preset text boxes. I see I can either add text via the tools menu with the 'add text' tool or the fill and sign menu with the 'add text' tool as well. They both seem to behave differently and I have a difficult time selecting, moving or editing text that is close to existing elements with both tools. What is the intended difference between these tools? Also, it would be nice to add a layer to just add my text to without interfering with the existing elements, but I see no way to actually add a layer in Acrobat Pro XI. I know I can do this in Illustrator, but I was looking for a simpler solution that works in Acrobat.
    Thanks!
    Colin

    Hey Kolinized,
Difference between "add text" tool via the 'tools' pane and "add text" tool via 'fill and sign' pane :-
    * Tools>Content Editing>Add Text :- Selecting this option, we can customize the text as well the rectangular box it will create. We can place the box anywhere on the page.
    * Fill & Sign>Fill & Sign Tools>Add Text :- This option is slightly easier ,however, customizes text only(Typewriter tool in Acrobat X).This tool is preferred to fill up various kinds
    of forms .
    Thanks
