Text viewed on websites is soft and fuzzy
I just got a new Mac Book Pro and, so far, I have to say that I'm very disappointed. When I first opened it up, I instantly noticed that left hand side of the screen was visibly darker up to 1" from the left edge. Unfortunately, I've been super busy and didn't have a chance to try it out until after 30 days from the purchase date. I sent it in for repair and got it back (very quick turnaround) yesterday.
The left hand side of the monitor isn't as dark anymore, but now text does not seem sharp at all, especially when viewed thru a web browser. Essentially, text on websites appears to be very soft, fuzzy, and blurring together. I hooked the computer up to my Samsung 204B, and the same website text looks great.
Is this typical? Or, have I gotten a lemon? Either way, I cannot stand to use it as it is.
Apple Menu > System Prefs > Appearance, make sure
Font Smoothing is set correctly for your kind of LCD
display. My guess is you have it set for a CRT
monitor.
Also make sure you are running your MBP LCD display
at it's native resolution.
Apple Menu > System Prefs > Displays (Display tab).
I have font smoothing set to "Automatic - best for main display". However, good call on checking the native resolution. I guess I was playing around with it and had it set to 1280x800 instead of 1440x900.
So, vastly improved, but I still prefer how website text looks on a PC.

Before your Firefox Help question (Why is it that text is transposed over text when viewing certain websites. I'm running win 7 and the latest version of FF.)
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

I can't view my website at www.artisancandies.com, even though it's working and everyone else seems to see it. No, I don't have a firewall, and it's not because of my internet provider - I have AT&T at work, and Comcast at home. My husband can see the site on his laptop. I tried dumping my cache in both Firefox and Safari, but it didn't work. I looked at it through proxify.com, and can see it that way, so I know it works. This is so frustrating, because I used to only see it when I typed in artisancandies.com - it would never work for me if I typed in www.artisancandies.com. Now it doesn't work at all. This is the message I get in Firefox:
"The connection has timed out. The server at www.artisancandies.com is taking too long to respond."
Please help!!!

Ever since the latest update, my task bar (if it's called that - it's the one with "file,edit,view, etc") will "grey out" and I won't be able to type into any websites I visit. Only way I can proceed is if either restart Firefox (very annoying) or reduce the window and open it again. Please help!
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why am I no longer able to copy and paste text from a website?
I am trying to copy and past text from a website and it will not even let me select it. I am very familiar with how to do this, and it worked yesterday on the same page in safari. Please advise if anyone knows how to fix this.

Different Text Size for different mobile devices and Tabbed View Application
Hi,
I am developing an sample mobile application to target all mobile devices (IPhone/IPad/IPod and Android).
I am facing an Issue that i am using default text size for the TextInput, TextArea and label but text size look so small for some devices, i discuss this with some(unkown) person(he is an IPhone developer).
He told me that in Iphone development for different devices they use different text size.
So how would I do the same at our Flex Mobile application ?

There is one more problem in the application. I have tabbed view application, and i assign the firstview of the tab after 10 or more seconds of interval so that data will load in the application properly.
But issue is that my first tab is not show anything at first go. When we switch the tab then it loads the screen and application work fine.
Please provide me any help so that i can see the first Tab Screen.
ThanksHi there. For your font issue you need to set up a variable call it var fontSize or something. Then have an if statement that reads something like if (stage.stageWidth <= 320) fontSize=8 else if (stage.stageWidth > 320 || stage.stageWidth <= 640) fontSize = 12.
Then instead of giving your font a size give it the size of fontSize variable and it will check for stage width or whatever you base it on and apply that size to your text field.
I had done this for an app I did for Kellogg Garden Products but if you notice when you go from portrait to landscape mode the font size increases using this technique.

I have noticed a problem on my website every now and then when I open my website with Firefox. This problem is not evident all the time but 1 out of 3 times, whenever I open my website with Firefox, some of the text and other elements get abnormally super-sized or abnormally small. At first, I thought the problem would heal itself but for months now it has not gone away and it keeps haunting my website.
The interesting thing here is I have never once seen this problem with any other web browser apart from Firefox. All the other web browsers display contents of my website very well.

Emmanuel Kesse.A couple times I saw the wording "General stuff" and the associated price display in a large font. Didn't notice any other anomalies right away. I was using NoScript, so possibly some scripts would have led to other changes.

On the Ink Frog website, when I copy from a Word text file to insert into their auction lister, a tracking header is inserted.

How can i view full websites and prevent mobile sites loading?
I have an HTC desire HD when I view a website using FireFox mobile I get the mobile version of the web page. I would like to disable this and get the normal version of the web page. As most of the time the mobile pages do not have all the same features as the full page. I could do Thor with my previous mobile browser.
If you want to appear to be a desktop browser install the Phony extension. Open the preferences and set the user agent to Desktop Firefox

Text view with price and currency sign

I have a textview in an table showing the netprice. The datatype is CURR. I would like to show the currency sign in the same textview, e.g. 1,87. Is this possible and how?

Declare another attribute in your table (say final_price) of type string. For all the elements in your node, concatenate the price and currency and fill in the values for final_price. Now, let your text view display final_price.
For example, this is how your data should look in the node
price-curr-final_price

I can't seem to enlarge the text on my news apps SI and The New Yorker. Yet, I can touch and expand the test on my mail and websites. How come?
I heard someone once talking about the NY app - it's the best selling one in the publisher's line (Conde Nast?), and they deliberately kept it as simple and "untechy" as possible - the closest in their line to the actual print edition. The discussion was on how it was surprising that the magazine with the least amount of "bells and whistles" was their best seller... and a speculation that it was because it was so simple and uncluttered. Perhaps their decision to remove pinch & zoom was related to that idea.

Exactly what the title says. Firefox did this before updating to 5 if I'm not mistaking. I want Firefox to Google search text when I drag it to the tabs bar (when an arrow pointing in between tabs appears). From there a new tab with the Google search should appear normally.
Title and description may be clear to you it is certainly not clear to me.
If I drag "title and description" which is not a url and try to create a new tab with it nothing will happen. I can drag that text to the the search bar and do a search.
If I grabbed a url which was text not shown as a link I can drag to the location bar, the new tab button, to a tab, between two tabs and that is all legitimate.
I can drag a ''[http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm link]" without selecting it in the same manner the location bar, the new tab button, to a tab, between two tabs and that is all legitimate.
I cant see that you have lost what it sounds like you had because I don't think you would have generated a search in that manner. You can certainly drag something like a sentence to the search bar, so even if you were the only one that could do start a search by dragging text you can still drag it to the search bar.
