Text wrap dialogue box is blank in CS3

I am not able to view the options in the text wrap dialogue box - why? I have restarted InDesign and my computer but there are no options showing in the dialogue box. I use text wrap all the time so this is a major problem for me. Thanks for your help!

Try resetting preferences. http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/5.0/help.html?content=WSa285fff53dea4f86173837510 01ea8cb3f-6d1e.html
Immediately after starting Indesign, hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift (Shift-Opt-Cmd-Cntrl on Mac). If you don't get a message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

  • Text Wrap options not showing in InDesign CS3

Using InDesign CS3 on a Mac 10.4.  I've had this problem for a couple of months now and it's getting past the point of annoying.  When I open my text wrap options pallete it's blank even when I expand options.  I can see the text wrap icons in my header panel, but I no longer have options to change the right/left/top/bottom margins.  Just a general "add wrap" and "remove wrap".  Is there any way I can get my pallete back?  I've tried defaulting my tools, but still it does not show up.  I don't know what to do to get it back.

Did you try resetting preferences? While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. If you don't get the message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

  • I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader when prompted. Since then I cannot use Safari File Print to print web pages - the printer dialogue window opens but the page is blank. Also, when I try to use the safari Help button, the dialogue box is blank.

I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader update when prompted. Since then I cannot use Safari>File>Print to print web pages - the printer dialogue window opens, but the page remains blank. Also when I try to use the Safari Help button, the dialogue box opens but remains infuriatingly blank. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • No Text In Dialogue Box

I not too long ago installed Snow Leopard and ever since then, whenever a dialogue box pops up there is no text in it. For example, whenever I install or update, the box that pops up to ask for my password doesn't have anything in it. The buttons don't even have words on them.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

Then, there's corruption or confliction within that user account. Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to create a new admin user account, log into it, launch the apps to ensure that they work normally, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.
BTW, if this doesn't do it, start your own thread.

  • Can't forward texts as dialogue box pre-populated with old text

Hi - I've seen a few old posts about this but no one has had an answer.
When I either try to forward a message on my iPhone (iOS 6.1.2), instead of the message I have selected to forward appearing in the window, an old message appears. This also happens when I select new message.
This means I am completely unable to forward messages on my phone. It's a big problem.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks

At least also set the content length. Your browser may be configured be the default application to open textfiles. If the contentlength is not set, then most applications would refuse to open the file without choosing for 'Save' first and manually open it.

  • Blank dialogue boxes and missing text in Tools

Acrobat 10.1.8 - Adobe Creative Suite Standard
A number of dialogue boxes have become blank and fill the whole screen; for example the box that appears when a scan is completed.  In addition, when Tools are displayed (and the buttons on the toolbar for Tools are no longer there) the icons appear but not the text.
I am guessing that this is either a font problem - perhaps some fonts used by Acrobat have been deleted - or that I should download the prgoramme and reinstal it.  But I cannot find a download site for Acrobat 10.  There is no problem with the other programmes in the Creative Suite.
    What to do?

Thank you!  This has restored Acrobat to working order (inshallah).

  • Has anyone experienced text going missing after using Change All in the Find Font dialogue box?

I manage an artwork production studio and two members of staff have separately reported that when using the Change All command to substitute fonts in InDesign's Find Font dialogue box, some text disappears from their documents. All affected text is originally set in the same font, and most of the conversion is fine but a few instances of text are actually removed (not reflowed). In the latest reported case, only four or five instances of text were 'deleted' across two pages of a 20pp document.
I've found a link that refers to the same issue but it's unresolved (http://www.listsearch.com/InDesign/Thread/index.lasso?20041#last)
I haven't been able to replicate this behaviour but would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced it and if so, under what circumstances it can occur, and what work-rounds or fixes are available.
Applies to InDesign CS3 and CS4, have not tested with CS5 because we haven't upgraded yet.

Joel, I am having the same problem you described. I have read of similar posts on PrintPlanet.com. Someone there thought it was a different text engine or something in CS4 which may be causing the problem.
I don't know what causes this but I believe it can be traced to a previously created file in CS3 is saved as a CS4 document.
The fonts associated with this problem for me are always Gill Sans, Palatino and some form of Helvetica. There may be others but these are the ones we notice the most.
Today I worked on an InDesign CS4 file. When I opened it I was given a missing font warning. I went to Find Font and it was different typefaces of Gill Sans that was missing. When I changed the missing font to Gill Sans Regular entire lines of text disappeared. I closed the document without saving it and reopened it. I did the same thing in replacing fonts. This time no text disappeared. Not reflowed; not white; not hidden—gone.
This is what I have been seeing for the past few months. The disappearing text is random and cannot be duplicated, though fonts may disappear in some other place. You never know where text will just disappear.
The workaround I have found is to export your file to an INX document and reopen it in CS3. You have to replace all missing text before saving it as INX, though. To my knowledge CS3 has never had this happen.
The workaround, though it works for me, is annoying. I'd like to know what to do to resolve this issue. What's the use in having CS4 if you can't trust it completely.
I use a Mac running 10.6.3. I also have running Suitcase Fusion 2.

  • I can't print selected text in a Print dialogue box in Yahoo mail or my bank site. I used to, now I can't.

I am having this problem both in my online banking site and when using Yahoo Mail. When I click on Print on either of these sites and then close the Print dialogue box that automatically comes up, highlight just the text I want printed, then hit Ctrl+P and choose Selection, Print Preview shows me a blank page. When I try printing the selection using either of the 2 printers I have, it prints a blank page. And yet when I do the same thing in Internet Explorer, I have no trouble printing the text I want. I tried doing the prefs.js troubleshoot, deleting everything in that file that starts with print, but it made no difference. I used to be able to print this way in Firefox no problem, but now it doesn't work. Why not, and how do I get it to work again? I'm using Windows XP and Firefox 11.

A bug was introduced in the latest version of Firefox that affects printing selections that are inside a table. Because many pages use tables for general layout (without displaying the borders), this may appear to strike at random.
A fix is expected in Firefox 12. More information: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/923294 how to get print selection to work | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help]
If you expand your selection to include some content outside the table, then the feature should work, but of course it would include some unnecessary information.

  • ID CS3: Text Wrap stopped working!

I suddenly have an odd problem: a text box that refuses to honor the text wrap setting on another box. The one that is supposed to force the wrap does have the wrap turned on. The box that is supposed to honor the wrap setting is not set to ignore the text wrap.
I've tried the common fixes like going into composition preferences and toggling on and off the "Text Wrap Only Affects Text Beneath" box, and trashing ID's preferences. In addition, I have run Onyx to repair permissions and run maintenance scripts, and in desperation also cleaned the font cache.
I'm really stumped here. The box that the text is supposed to wrap around is an object that I keep stored in a library (a column head for a regular contributor to a magazine), and it has performed flawlessly for months. Nothing is changed in that respect from the previous issue of the magazine. The two boxes are on different layers, but that has been no problem in the past.
I should add that the problem is not limited to that particular library item; it seems to also happen with other column heads from that same library.
Does anyone have any hints as to where I should go from here? I'm at a bit of a loss

Finally discovered the problem. Somehow my text box default had changed from text wrap off to text wrap on (I'm sure I wasn't paying attention at some point) and, with both text boxes set to wrap, they were somehow canceling each other out.
Once I shut off the text wrap on the article box, everything snapped back to normal.

  • Browser can't find a text file opened via the save as dialogue box

    Hi there,
I have a servlet which outputs a file using the servlet output stream, with the following lines set:
    response.setContentType("application/msword");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachement; filename="+ fileName);
    servletOutStream.write(myBytes);
    servletOutStream.flush();
It works fine for .doc files and it seems the mechanism is that it is saved to the Temporary Internet Folder and delivered from there when the user clicks on the 'open' or 'save' option in the browser popup dialogue box. However... when I try this with text files, (setting the content type to "text/plain") I get the open/save dialogue box up correctly but if I try to open the file it says it cannot find the file, and gives the path under the Temporary Interenet Folder. If I look in there the text file isn't present - though the .doc files are.
So... it looks as if the problem is that for some reason it doesn't save the text files correctly to the Temporary Internet Folder.
I can't deliver the text files inline as a solution as the filename is lost and it thinks it's an html file (which the client doesn't want).
    Any ideas?
    Alison

At least also set the content length. Your browser may be configured be the default application to open textfiles. If the contentlength is not set, then most applications would refuse to open the file without choosing for 'Save' first and manually open it.

  • How to modify System Preferences dialogue box text.

I know that to change any dialogue box for the finder the path is Devices (name of your device) > (drive name) > System > Library > CoreServices > Finder.app  > Contents > Resources > English.lproj. If you open that file with Text Wrangler you can modify any finder message to whatever you want it to be, my question is how can you do the same thing but for the System Prefrences application? I don't know what path to follow for that. Thank you for any possible assistance!

I'm specifically trying to modify the dialogue box that appears when you want to modify (add or delete) user accounts in System Prefrences "System Preferences is trying to unlock Users & Groups preferences. Type your password to allow this." However I can't seem to find it in either the Finder or System Preferences English.lproj files. Where else might I look? Or do you think I just missed it?

  • Buttons on dialogue and prompt boxes are blank and nothing happens when I click on them.

Whenever a dialogue box or prompt box comes up, the all of the buttons or sometimes just the bottom two (OK and cancel) are blank and nothing happens when I click on them, with the exception of one website in which clicking the blank button that normally says "OK" takes me to a blank screen. This doesn't allow me to access certain websites or download anything when a dialogue box asks me to confirm. As a result, I also cannot start firefox in safe mode or refresh it.
Attached is an example. That is what came up when I tried to refresh firefox. Nothing happens when I click either of the buttons at the bottom.
    EDIT: Attached the image.

Strangely enough, it just stopped happening on its own this morning. Thanks for the help, though!

  • Save image as problem in file type in the dialogue box it is blank

    Hi,

It was showing before many choices like (JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc...). I guess this happened after I did a system restore to my desktop to its factory settings. So i can't choose which type to save the image in. I checked all the previous articles regarding this issue and did some solutions like clearing the Temporary Internet Files all didn't work out.
