TextEdit: Tabbing in "Find"?

What happened? In the Text Edit >> Find panel you used to be able to tab through all the options on the sheet. I really need that function and it is an O.S. standard. WHY did it go away? HOW did it go away, WHEN is it coming BACK?
I don't use the mouse much. Need the tabbing.

It should really still be possible. You're doing this on your own Mac, right? If you try it on a friend's Mac and s/he doesn't have MacOS X 10.4 yet, it won't work.
If nothing else helps, did you try to restart TextEdit or even the Mac? It is possible that something is corrupted, which could be fixed by a restart or logout.

  • How to disable CHARGES tab in Find Sevice Requests(CSXSRISR.fmb / CSXSRISV)

could any one please let me know how to disable CHARGES tab in Find Sevice Requests ( CSXSRISR.fmb, but funtion registered is CSXSRISV).
Actually when i access the "Create Service Requests" menu option, the form comes up with a the three TABS (Charges , Work Orders & Maint Req) visible but disabled. But when i access the same from "Find Service Request" menu option, i get the Charges TAB enabled but not the other two... so i would need to visibilly disable the CHARGES TAB like the other two tabs.
I checked the subfunctions but i could not find any.... i could only find Update Charge and Create Charge options but not the Visible option.

    Hi...
The Charge Tab in SR form gets enabled only after SR No. Generation.
So initially when you open the Service Request form the Charges Tab will be visible but disabled, & once the SR number is generated the same gets enabled.

  • Shortcut "Command + T" opens terminal instead a new tab of finder

    Hi!
I'm a new member of forum and new user of OS X.
On my MacBook appeared a strange problem after cleaning OS X (Mavericks) by Onyx:
When I'm in a Finder window and using shortcut Command+T  appears Terminal window instead a new tab in Finder.
I tried to reset to the default keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences but it didn't work.
Has anyone had a similar problem and already has a solution?
    I will be grateful
BTW sorry for my ungrammatical English

    Try this:
    1) In the address bar, enter''' about:config''' and press '''Enter'''.
    2) In the "'''Filter'''" type '''restriction'''
    3) "browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction" should appear. '''Double-click''' it and enter 0
That will force everything to go to new tabs instead of Windows.

  • "Shared" tab on Finder when connected to the same wifi

I have this concern about the "Shared" tab on Finder wherein every time I connect to the same wifi as someone else, this "Shared" tab with our computer's name appears. Its just a privacy concern because this means that whenever I connect to the wifi they would know that I'm connected.

Go to the Sharing system preferences and disable any shared services you have enabled, and this should prevent your Mac from being auto-discovered on the network. Specifically do this for Screen Sharing and File Sharing to prevent your system from showing up in the Finder sidebar of another Mac; however, others like printer sharing will also have your Mac be discoverable in ways, though not directly through the Finder.

  • ⌘T does not open new tab in Finder

In Finder under the File menu, the "New Tab" command has ⌘T as a keyboard shortcut. However, when I use those combination of keys, a new tab does not open. I am currently running Yosemite, but this was also the case when I was running Mavericks. Is there a fix or workaround for this?

    Howdy RHPT,
If the Command + T keyboard shortcut is not working correctly, I would check to see if theres a shortcut conflict in your Keypard Preferences. This article will help you do that:
OS X Yosemite: If a keyboard shortcut doesn’t work
See and change keyboard shortcut assignments in Keyboard preferences
It’s possible to have keyboard shortcuts for one app that conflict with another app. For example, Command-Space bar opens the Spotlight menu, but in another app it might be used for switching between different input methods.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Click Shortcuts. A yellow warning triangle appears next to conflicting keyboard shortcuts. Click the shortcut, then change it.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Documents tab in finder opens 'terminal' rather than my document folders

    Hi,
I was hoping to get some help!
When I open my finder and select the Documents tab, instead of showing all my folders it opens something called 'terminal'.
Also when I select the Desktop tab it opens iPhoto.
I've tried right clicking on the tabs and selecting 'get info' and changing the 'open with' but I can't seem to select how it was originally.
A few weeks ago I was using an external hard drive to back everything up, since then I've had this problem.
    Hope you can help!
    Thanks!

    Hi @Shootist007
I knew PNG files were image files, that why i was confused when I saved them onto my Mac they were showing as Documents under file type. But i managed to do via Preview (opened it up in Preview then click and dragged to my document).
    Thanks for your help

  • Command Tab to Finder doesn't work

    Hi All,
I've seen a few other posts with this problem, but the suggested fix didn't work for me. The problem is that after some period of use when using Command-Tab to switch to the Finder the Finder windows do not come to the front. The Finder is definitely the active application because its menu bar is displayed. But the previous application's windows are still displayed. If I Command-Tab to the Finder again (going through all open apps) or click on the Finder's dock icon, then the Finder windows will come to the front. Similarly, if I'm working in some other application and try to switch to the Finder via the Dock, the same problem exists. I have to 're-select' the FInder in order for the open FInder windows to come to the front.
The one suggestion in another thread was to trash the Finder preference file. I did that and it didn't work. After a period of use the problem will return. The only way to fix it is to either force a relaunch of the Finder or reboot the machine.
Unfortunately a side effect of trashing the prefs is that another problem was created - now when I relaunch the Finder it doesn't remember what windows were opened and it only gives me one window with the top level of the computer displayed. Previously when relaunching the Finder it would bring back all of my open windows. So the fix didn't work and it made things worse.
FWIW the Command-Tab problem seems to occur after using Quicktime and/or Safari for a while. I can't be 100% sure that it's related but it really does seem like it.
Anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it is some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

    /System/Library/StartupItems

  • Anyone having issues with adding tabs in finder?

I upgraded from ML to Mavericks on my MBP r 2012, which was quite smooth,  Finder does have tags...and works well, but I could not find how to add 'tabs'.
There was no + sign anywhere and I could not add any tool for doing that from trying to customize the tools bar. Anyone facing similar issues?

Once you've added a tab, either by double-clicking a folder in Finder or by command-T, a + icon appears at the  right of the open tabs..

  • TextEdit Tab setting

I write just about everything on TextEdit and have tons of documents. The problem I've been experiencing, starting back at some point but too busy to figure out what's going on, is that my TAB setting is changing while I'm typing. I'm an idiot as far as inner workings of anything... like cars.. computer etc etc. I just use it. I have no clue how to set the tab so it doesn't change on me from line to line. I need something like: "TAB SETTING HERE" or "Click here to LOCK your TAB SPACING" but I just don't see it.
Right now it flips between slightly over 3/8" to 1/2" spacings. Sometimes some other weirdness goes on that I can't make rhyme or reason why it's doing what it's doing. It's kinda like spring loaded and I don't know when it gonna go off. All I want is the control so I can make it stop... or perhaps, I suppose, understanding of how it works. What am I doing wrong? I'm thinking pasting types etc from elsewhere is throwing the tab setting off? May be because I intermix bold types etc? I've no clue???
    Help please.

    I understand that part.
What's happening is that TAB spacing of every 1/2" somehow changes amid typing to something like 13/32" spacing. I can see the arrows on the top ruler pointing to every 1/2" changing to every 13/32", eg the stuff that needs to be at 1 1/2" mark ends up at 1 7/32" and so on on the next line. Another words I can't lock the tab setting at every 1/2". I don't know what's causing the Tab spacing to change from every 1/2" to every 13/32"...??? How do I get around this problem? I want to be able to past text from other sources without causing havoc to my tab setting... ie if that is the cause of this problem.

  • Safari tabs kills Finder

I have a problem that is reproduceable. I have always used tabs for surfing, but in the last couple of weeks this has become a common issue. I can load one page without any problems. But now if I use tabs to open a group of pages (mostly news and blogs), Safari will hang with spinning timers in the tab and partial bars in the URL window. In Activity monitor, it shows 0.6% CPU use and says Safari not responding.
If I quit and try to reboot, the Safari icon bounces for about a minute and then stops, but it doesn't launch. At that point, nothing in the Finder works. I cannot grab anything up in the menu bar and Force quit no longer will bring up a window. The only way I can get out of this is to do a force reboot.
I have thrown out Safari and quicktime preferences, but nothing seems to fixe this. I look for any suggestions. TIA

Try these steps to correct your issue.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit Safari and all apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • How do i permanently change my homepage to what I want when I look in the troubleshooting tab and find a unchangeable flag called: browser.startup.homepage_override_url

I downloaded some apps from speedbit.com and told FF4.0.1 to not change my homepage, and it did anyways to speedbit. It also installed itself on the "override", so everytime i reset my home page to anything, when I next open FF it bumps back to the override page instead. In troubleshooting it is a toggle i can't edit.

Firefox '''does not''' come with a setting for a page that opens in a new Tab, the default installation always opens a blank page when you open a new Tab. Many extensions include a feature to open their choice of a webpage when you open a new tab, as does the Speed Dial extension which uses a "local page" internal to Firefox.
You need to figure out which extension has taken over that preference that Speed Dial needs to use. You didn't bother providing a Troubleshooting Information... listing as requested when you asked this question, but I can guess your problem is related wither a Yahoo extension or a Conduit / OurToolbar extension - as there is a plugin listed = Package Installer & Install Conduit.
