TextEdit won't let me name documents; can't find "Untitleds"

My TextEdit's "Save" function opens & closes in a flash. Way to quickly to type a document name. Now I have "Untitled", "Untitled 2" & "Untitled 3" -- all different documents and all opening when I open TextEdit. If I could locate them, I could rename them, but I cannot find them on my MacBook Pro with either Spotlight or Houdah Spotlight. Where are they? Besides being listed in the dock when TextEdit is on.

Roger, I don't see a document icon in the title bar. But I was able to get the drop-down menu to stay open so I could name the document and choose where to save it.
It turns out that a third-party app that changes the look of certain windows -- Crystal Clear Interface -- which used to work w/ TextEdit in Snow Leopard, needs to be turned off in Lion's TextEdit.
But I still don't know why Spotlight was unable to direct me to all the "Untitled" documents I amassed before I was able to input text on the drop-down Save menu.

I am only able to rename a duplicated .html file right after I create it, because the file name gets highlighted in the Title Bar, but after that there is no recourse. I I can Rename or Save the file if I want to just save it as a .txt, but I need it to be .html. I guess I can manually change the file later, but it's really annoying.

I remember long ago a similar issue with TextEdit, but I can't remember if there was a solution or not.

You have Traking changes on. Go to Edit > Turn off Tracking.

MEDIASOURCE- won't burn a cd! Can't find a cd recorder device is fo

Hey, i just got a creative zen 20 gig installed the media source program fine. And i got to work fine it finds cds, rips them onto the computer and to the zen, but it when i try to burn a cd using the program it says it can't find a cd recording device, and when i go into the settings that whole section of selecting the cd writer is an option i can't fix or select any option.
i have NEC dvd+-RW ND-6500A dri've that works completely fine and can burn cds i proved this using NERO) the reason why i want it fixed is because it is easier to burn the recording i make straight to cd throught the zen than transferring to the computer and using a third party software like nero to burn the audio cd.
If anyone knows how i can fix this problem and select the dri've, or knows how to make the program idenify it that would be helpful.

You may need to update the CDRW database of the MediaSource application. Go to the download page and do a search for this filename - CDBD_PCApp__00_05.exe
Install this and update it.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

It won't let me start, I can't get past user name.

When I try to get started it will not accept my username. No matter what I try. I did register through Firefox but that name did not work either. I am seriously hating this app. If I can't get it to work soon I will delete it and try to find a new web browser too.

In Firefox, go to Tools, Options, Security, Saved Passwords.
Look for the entry of chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password).
You will see a user name field there. Use that as the user name in Firefox Home and it will work.
Very annoying and a pain to setup on the iPhone, but at least it works. My assumption is that Firefox Home needs to update their app so that it asks for your e-mail address instead of this auto-generated user name.
This fixed it for me.

Won't let me print documents from website link

For this specific website, when I try to print a document it will automatically download it for me but it won't print. I will click on the download and it will open up on Word, but since it is coded it will not show properly. How can I get it to print directly from the print link on the website? I've tried resetting it and it still won't print.

I am trying to install the new version of itunes but bonjour won't let me and I can't uninstall it for some reason

I bought an ipod for my mother for mothers day and when I went to put music on it, I had to update my itunes to do so. when I did, bonjour cme up with an error message and wanted me to find the path "bonjour.msi". I've tried uninstalling bonjour with no success. I've tried uninstalling itunes then re-installing itunes with no success. Is there anything I can do to fix this, because it's really getting on my nerves that I can't install a simple update without this message comming up. I've searched the net for ways to fix this, and none have worked. so any help would be great. Thanks.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

Pages won't let me open documents

I didn't download the latest version of Pages when it was released, about four days ago. So I try to open a Pages document - any document - and can't. I'm told I have to update the software. But when I try to do this either from the App store or via the software update facility on the desktop, I get a message saying it's not available. I hate the new Pages. '09 worked fine but if I go back to it - it still seems to be in the applications on my MacBook - will I be able to open documents created with the newer software?

I just had a very similar experience on a brand new mac after setting it up yesterday, hooking it up to everything including icloud and updating all the software including pages to 5.1 I could not open any doc on the new Mac.
On the other machines everything was peachy. Looking through forums I witnessed Peter's crusade against pages 5 - no offense, Peter - but I believe this time icloud is to be blamed.
Here is what helped me:
1. Go to System Preferences -> icloud and scroll down until you see "Documents & Data"
2. un-tick "Documents & Data"
3. Close Pages if you had it open and re-open it.
4. Open Pages (again) and close it again
5. Go back to the icloud preference pane and tick the box in front of "Documents & Data" again
6. Click on "Options" behind "Documents & Data" and make sure that the box in front of "pages" is ticked as well
7. Close System Preferences
8. Open Pages and everything should be back to normal

You can't send SMS messages with the iOS messages app. It only works with other iOS devices. The user that you want to message with must also be set up and registered to use the messages app on their device or you will not be able to contact them.
