TextEdit wont change font format by section

I just used TextEdit for the first time and found out when I select a section of text and change the format (regular > bold) the entire document changes. Is this a Preferences setting I missed, a problem with TextEdit, or just the way all text editors work.

  • Outlook paste option changed font format

    I have an issue when I try to copy some text at MS word to outlook message (rich text). The formatting of the text was changed. And the font size is change. e.g.: The font format is Arial 10 at Word and the size will changed to Arial 11 at Outlook. I've
    tried to paste as keep source formatting. But the issue still here. Can I have some settings to avoid this happen? please advise. Thanks.
    Best Regards,

    Hello Samuel,
    Have you tried copying from Word and paste to a new empty email message? Will that mess up the formatting?
    We can also try copying/pasting between two Outlook email messages to see the result.
    Please also try copying from other program, such as PowerPoint and then pasting to Outlook. Also try copying from Word and pasting to PowerPoint.
    Please let me know the result.

  • Outlook script to change font format on mail sent to a specific recipient

    I'm trying to learn VBA for a number of more appropriate uses, but this one is kind of an inside joke.   My standard email font color is purple and the text is small and 'girly" (10 point Georgia).   My warehouse manager is always picking
    on me about  my email font and how his 'old eyes' can't read it.  Is there a way to write a script, or combine the rule that runs a script in order to change the font on emails sent to one specific person?  If anyone is going to bother to write
    it out for me (THANK YOU in advance btw), the font I'd like to use is 14 pt Candara in black.
    This is indeed more of a joke, but it will help me learn this VBA stuff.  I'm mostly using it in excel for now.
    Thank you thank you thank you.

    If you add the following macro to the ThisOutlookSession module, it will intercept your messages and if they are to '[email protected]' they are reformatted as requested - though frankly bold (included) looks better
    Option Explicit
    Private Sub Application_ItemSend(ByVal Item As Object, Cancel As Boolean)
    Dim olInsp As Inspector
    Dim wdDoc As Object
    Dim oRng As Object
    If Item.To = "[email protected]" Then
    With Item
    .BodyFormat = olFormatHTML
    Set olInsp = .GetInspector
    Set wdDoc = olInsp.WordEditor
    Set oRng = wdDoc.Range
    .Display
    With oRng
    .Font.Name = "Candara"
    .Font.Bold = True
    .Font.Color = &H0
    .Font.Size = 14
    End With
    .Save
    End With
    End If

  • Change font and font size in a textedit

    Hi,
    I am using a textedit UI element in read only mode. its getting the value from context attribute. I need to change font and font size ( atleast the later) and make it bold.
    how can this be done ?
    plz help......
    Thanks
    Akash

    Hi Thomas,
    I saw from your response in the post above that you might be able to answer a question I have about the portal theme.
    We are using several textedit elements in our portal, however the font size of text entered in those textedit fields is smaller than the standard global text in the portal. I have tried in vain to find the setting in the portal theme that controls textedit elements. Do you happen to know which one it is exactly?
    Many thanks for any suggestions/help you might have

  • Font formats unexpectedly changed

    Hello... there is a strange issue on Q10 tasks sync, tasks font formats (type/ size) unexpectedly changed after editing/ updating on Q10.
    1. Create a new task on Outlook 2010 (with Exchange 2010), using default Calibri font, task is sync to Q10.
    2. Open the task on Q10 for editing, updated its content with the default Q10 font, all font formats looks standard.
    3. Open the task on Outlook, those lines updated with Q10 have different font formats (type/ size) which not the standard looks.
    Any idea what is not right? Is this a Blackberry bug? Thanks.

    someotherguy and Duck3, you both appear to be right. My Programs and Features list (formerly Add/Remove Programs) shows I installed "Windows Live Essentials 2011" on 11/18 (though I don't recall what Live module I would have wanted that day), and the automatic updating started 11/19 or 11/20. I also installed "Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin 64-bit" on 11/19, could that have done it instead?
    When I do install new software, I generally choose the "Custom" path so I can choose the settings, and I try to read all messages and consider all check boxes carefully. So whatever program flipped my Windows Update settings, I don't think it asked me first and that is sneaky, underhanded behavior.
    I welcome all further thoughts and suggestion on this problem, and thank you for your help.

    I'm often having issues with clients not seeing or being able to open attachments, font formatting changes (on the pc end) and the inability to use HTML signatures to promote our company brand.

    I imagine your clients must be using Outlook, which is seriously broken when it comes to e-mail standards, especially HTML e-mail. You can work around the issues with Outlook by only sending plain-text e-mails and making sure that, in the Edit -> Attachments menu, the last two options are checked. Unfortunately, that means that HTML signatures are out.
    If you need something with a fancy layout, either attach a PDF file to the e-mail or include a link to a website in the e-mail.

  • How can i change the Format of my DATE column?

    I need to change the date format for a whole column. At present i can do MM-DD-YYYY. I need to change this this to DD-MMM-YYYY.
    I know about the to_date function, i tried to apply it to change the format of my whole column by doing the following.....
    CREATE TABLE "IT220_DATEHOLIDAY"
    "DEPARTID" VarChar(2)NOT NULL ENABLE,
    "HOLCODE" VARCHAR2(2)NOT NULL ENABLE,
    "DEPARDATE" DATE,
    to_date('DATE','DD-MMM-YYYY'), <<<change DATE column to DD-MMM-YYYY
    CONSTRAINT "DATEHOLIDAY_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("DEPARTID") ENABLE
    ORA-00902: invalid datatype <<<<This was the error message i received.
    I am aware that the to_date function is supposed to be used to change strings into a certain format. I guess this means you cant do it with columns? Is there anyway i can format the whole column or do i have to do each string of data entered one by one?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Jay,
    I'm not sure you hit the right forum, as this doesn't seem to be a problem with APEX.
    Anyway:
    You can't use that function on a table like that, and as you already suggested, the to_date-function expects a string value.
    It seems you also have a misunderstanding of the basic datatypes in the database. DATE is such a datatype and is stored an internal format you don't need to care about. Each time your request the value, the database will give you a string representation according to either your locale or you give a certain formatting mask.
    The same applies to insert or update operations: you hand in either a variable of type DATE or use a function like to_date to create an "object" of type date.
    You may be interested in reading the documentation of the [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16508/toc.htm]Oracle Database Concepts. The section concerning datatype DATE can be found here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16508/tablecls.htm#CBBGJHJC
    An overview of formatting options can be found here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17118/sql_elements004.htm#SQLRF00212
    So to answer your question: You would format it as part of your insert operation, taking a string and convert it using to_date.

  • How to do (if possible) a bulk change of formats

    Is there a way I can create a bulk change of formats? That is to say, I have six pages multiple frames of text (and graphics) with all kinds of different fonts, points, colors, effects etc.
    I want to (as easily as possible) conduct a mass change where everything will be reformatted to (for example), Times new roman 12 point.
    I would imagine I could create a paragraph style sheet and then go touch all the text boxes one at a time, but I was hoping for one click (ha ha ) and it is done.
    Am I smoking funny stuff, or do I have to do it the old fashioned way. One text box at a time.
    Bob

    Bob,
    InDesign "remembers" which values to change if you change the Paragraph Style, courtesy of this simple rule: If it is the same number in the text as in the style, it gets changed. Otherwise, it must've been some sort of override, and it's preserved.
    Alt+clicking the paragraph style on your entire document resets
    i everything
    -- intended or not. Since that's what you wanted, no further problems. If you ever get into a spot where you
    i don't
    want to reset everything (because you manually fiddled), you can try this handy trick:
    * find out what the "wrong" size is -- the one you want to kill.
    * change the size in the paragraph style to the "wrong" size. Every paragraph with the style will get this applied. Exit the Paragraph Style options (so it will "take")
    * Re-visit the Paragraph Style options and put in the right size. All and only the size overrides will have disappeared; the rest of your overrides stay in place.
    This works with everything (as far as I'm concerned) you can change in Paragraph Styles, and as a matter of fact, also in Characters styles (and probably in Object styles and Table styles as well).

    I created a pdf form from a Word doc with 9 pt aerial font formatting; the text on the pdf form is aerial 9 pt, but the fields are formatted in courier 12 pt - How do I reformat the font in the fields??

    You can set up a temporary button (or link, bookmark, etc.) and add the following JavaScript action:
    // Mouse Up script for a temporary button (or bookmark, etc.)
    // Change the font and font size for all text fields in this document
    for (var i = 0; i < numFields; i += 1) {
        var f = getField(getNthFieldName(i));
        if (f.type === "text") {
            f.textFont = font.Helv;
            f.textSize = 9;
    It also sets the font size, but you can remove that line if you don't need to do that.

  • Can we change font size and font type in reports

    Hi All Technical/Functional Masters,
    We are developing some transactional reports in ISU. this report has 20 columns to be printed. On screen, display is not a problem but client has a requirement to download this report in PDF format and wants to print on A4-paper in Landscape. Although we have managed to accommodate all the columns on A4 paper but have to compromise with font size that are very small and not visible. If we download the report in excel format we are able to maintain the font size 8 and accommodate all columns after little format but same in PDF is a problem.
    Can anyone tell whether we can increase the font size and change font type(from SAP standard to 'Arial') before sending the output in PDF ? Is there any property or utility that can be changed or used for this purpose.

  • I want to change fonts but get message "no available system font"

    I am trying to edit a PDF flyer created by another party.  Using Acrobat Pro on Mac OSX.  I select "edit document text" and then try to delete or change the text and get the message. "all or part of the selection has no available system font You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font"
    I don't see any font format bar or other method of changing the font.
    Is there a way to work this?

    Over at the AUC's "Acrobat Answers" Karl Kremer replied to a similar question.
    In part he wrote:
    "I assume you want to edit content in a PDF file, and you cannot do that because you don't have the font installed that is used in that file. That is the way Acrobat works: You need to have the font that is used in your document installed on your local computer in order to make changes to text that uses that font. There is no way around that. You will have to find out what font is used for the text you need to edit, and then acquire that font (and that usually means to purchase that font, unless you are a subscriber to e.g. CC and that font is available via TypeKit).
    Another option is to select all the text and change that text to a different but similar font. You again can only use a font that is available on your computer as the target font. But once you've done that, you should be able to edit your document.
    You change the font by selecting Tools>Content Editing>Edit Text & Images, then you select the text you want to change, and your target font."
    Be well...
