Texting one person but it goes four others also! (at least)

Question

So I sent a short text to my wife's cell and it went to her plus my two daughters and one son (adults) and to someone else not even in my contact list but is in my son's list.    He has an Iphone.
It has now done this three times.  On this occassion an hour earlier I texted my wife it went only to cell as far as I can tell. 
I have a 9800 on the telus network.
four of the phones that received the message are not Blackberry phones at all, the fifth one I don't.   Some are telus and Rogers but  am not sure about all of them.
The only way I know it has done is by the questions I get sent back like "huh" "?" "Wrong Number" and so on
When it does it look back to see what I have sent and some of the communicates I sent is not there and I know I was texting to the right person because I always check the top of the screen to verify the correct person.
This has happened three times so far in the past three weeks.   I usually text on average 5 times a day?????
Does anyone have a solution for this.   My IT person says stop texting!?!?

I'm sorry you're getting the +1 error message! Apple is working on a bug fix for this issue, fingers crossed it is corrected soon!
There is a work around that has helped many iPhone users experiencing this:
1. Delete the affected contacts from your phone
2. Delete the entire conversation thread
Next:
Go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings (this will delete any saved Wi-Fi passwords; no other data)
Once the phone reboots, add the contact back to your device and start a new message thread.
