Texts being sent as iMessages

For some strange reason, some of my texts are being sent as iMessages. Anyone know why?

Imessages are sent to other iphone owners.  Text messages are sent to non-iphone owners.

  • Some texts being sent as SMS instead of iMessage

Some of my texts are being sent as SMS (green) instead of iMessages (blue) even though I know these people have iPhones.  It's only certain people it happens to as I have other friends who have iPhones and messages are being sent as iMessages like they should be.  Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hello kaeilli
Thanks for the question. Since the issue is isolated to a few contacts, have you confirmed that these contacts are indeed using iMessage (is it enabled on their iPhone?). If so, see this article:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
If you still can't send or receive iMessages
    1. Ensure that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages.
    2. To send and receive iMessages, your device must have a valid cellular or Wi-Fi data connection.
               - iPhone: Troubleshooting Cellular data
               - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    3. iMessage registration validates your Apple ID for use with iMessage. If you are unable to activate iMessage, follow this article.
4; If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will be resent using SMS or MMS, depending on the content. You can turn this behavior on or off in Settings > Messages > Send As SMS. Carrier messaging rates may apply.
    5. Verify that the Apple ID or phone number is listed in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Switched to a new phone, not getting texts because they're being sent as iMessages?

So, looking for a change, I switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3. I still have my iPhone (without a carrier, I only use it for group iMessages and FaceTime and such) and I'm having a problem when texting friends where their messages are sending as iMessages to my iPhone, which is off, with WiFi turned off and iMessage turned off (I turn both WiFi and iMessage off, as well as the actual iPhone, when I'm not using it to try and avoid this issue, but it's not working so far). I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this if it was consistent, but sometimes I'll be in the middle of a conversation with a friend on my Galaxy S3 and out of nowhere they'll stop responding. I won't think anything of it until the next time I turn my iPhone on and see that they did respond, it just sent as an iMessage even though my iPhone was off and they were texting me only minutes before.
    Here's an example:
Sonia: Hey Jesse do you have the group code?
Me: I thought Paul gave it to you like a week ago lemme check
    Sonia: Haha he didn't! Thanks
*I saw her after this message and we talked awhile, then I texted her again afterwards*
Me: Let me know if you want any help
    *No response*
I didn't think anything of it cuz my text didn't neccessarily need a response. However, I went on my iPhone the next day and saw a new message from Sonia so I opened it and saw this:
Sonia: Hey Jesse do you have the group code?
    Sonia: Haha he didn't! Thanks
    Sonia: Thanks Jesse
I talked to her afterwards and she said she didn't know her messages had sent as iMessages because they also sent as texts. However sometimes the messages will only send as iMessages (like the last message she sent) and I won't get them at all until I turn my iPhone on. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I want my number completely removed from iMessage but when trying to remove it on my iPhone it's grayed out, unlike the emails. The emails are fine because I still want to talk in group chats and FaceTime and stuff.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Cal AppleCare and have them revoke the certificae is the fastest and easiest, and as far as i see, the only way to resolve this issue
No certificate is involved when using iMessage.   Where you get that idea I have no idea cuz all one has to do is disable / sign out of iMessage on the iPhone.

  • Text messages being sent as iMessages

Hi folks, My wife and I have a strange problem with our iPhone 5's where our SMS messages occasionally get sent as iMessages and as a result we never get them on our phones.
Background - We both have iPhone 5's, I have an iPad 3, she has an iPad 4. All software is the latest updates available. We live in a rural area so wifi is only really available at home and the occasional McDonald's, so the only time iMessage is of any real use is when we are at home and want to iMessage friends. This results in both the iPhone and the iPad informing us that we have an iMessage and quickly becomes annoying during an extended conversation so we have turned off iMessage on our phones and use it exclusively on our iPads.
The problem- on a few occasions in the last 2 weeks we have replied to a SMS message sent by one of us and the SMS reply has been sent as an iMessage. As a result it was not received until we return home and view the iPad. Now I understand that iMessages are supposed to be sent as SMS if the recipient is not able to receive an iMessage but NOT the other way around. It makes even less sense when you consider we both have iMessage turned off on our phones.
Once it occurs it can be ages before the system restores itself to work correctly as well. A few days ago I had returned home to discover the message my wife had sent and was puzzled as to how it happened. I turned off the iPads and checked that iMessage was still off on both our phones (it was). Yet all efforts to send me an SMS from her phone to my phone resulted in an iMessage, not an SMS, the SMS option was not available as it continually defaulted to iMessage. How is this possible?

iMessage does not require WiFi. It requires a data connection. Between iOS devices, if you have iMessage turned on, iMessage is the default. Do you, perchance, have cellular data turned off on your phones? That's the only reason I can think of that you wouldn't get iMessages on your phone outside of a WiFi connection. And yes, both devices will notify you of messages if you have notifications turned on on both. And yes, if your contact is messaging you from an iOS device and your iPad is on at home and your cellular data is turned off on your phone, the iPad would get the message.

  • Why are my incoming texts being sent to a friends email?

I was given an iPhone 3gs about 6+ months ago by a friend, switched it over to my provider and have had no problems up until about a week ago. All of a sudden, all of my incoming texts started being sent to the friend's email address who gave me the phone, and I'm only receiving part of them. I've checked with both her service provider and mine and there is nothing that can be done by either. I know for a fact that the phone is no longer linked to the email address in any way that I can see, as the phone has been completely wiped clean and set up for me. Is there anyone who has had this type of issue or know how to fix it???

Incoming text messages as in SMS/MMS, or iMessages?
This must be for iMessages and if so, your friend needs to deactivate or unregister the iPhone for iMessage with his/her Apple ID.

  • Why is my text being sent as an email after iOS 7

Ever since we upgraded to the iOS 7, all texts from our iPhone 4 are being sent as an email attachment?? Does anyone know how to fix this?

    I'm having this problem also.
Both my wife and I have an iPhone 4 running iOS5, we were texting using iMessage, and it was working but then for some strange reason, the last 3 or so messages we sent got sent as text, but it didn't show them being sent as a text, until you left iMessage, and returned to it.
The problem was, I had sent 2 pictures through iMessage, they got sent as MMS, and I got charged for them.
Apple need to split iMessage from sms, instead of rolling them in the same app, that way you know your in iMessage, and you know when your in sms.
Why apple have decided to leave them in the same app is a mystery.
    Sort it out Apple.

  • Why is my text being sent by my iCloud account and not my number

My text are being sent by my iCloud email and not my phone number. Why? and how do I change it back.

    Settings>Messages>Send & Receive
Add your phone number and set it as the default to send messages from.

  • Downloaded IOS7 on iPhone 4, have sprint as carrier, now when another Sprint phone sends a text to my sons iPhone, Im getting a copy of the texts being sent to him.  Plus when I send a text, it shows as coming from my sons.  What's up, how can I fix this?

I have downloaded ios7 on iphone 4s, Sprint is my carrier.  When I send a text to anohter iphone ALSO using sprint, it shows as coming from my sons phone.  When he gets a message from another iphone using sprint, I get copies of his messages.  Go figure.  It seems to be only other IPhones and Sprint users.  Hasnt' happend with android phones texting him, or him texting to androids or carriers that are not sprint.

The fact that the problem only occurs when iphones are texting you leads me to think that iMessage may be the culprit. The fact that it is only iphones using SPRINT however is weird. Try turning imessage off on both yours and your sons phones to see if the problem persists. If it does, it may be a carrier problem.

  • Sms being sent via iMessage to none iOS phone

    Hi,
My other half never gets my texts as my iphone is sending them via iMessage to here 80's Nokia.
How do I get my iPhone to realise that it should be sending them via sms?
I have seen lots of posts with the opposite problem.
    Cheers
    David

    Yep, it can handle SMS.
It might not litterally be an 80's phone, but I guess I didn't intent for the comment to taken litterally.

  • How to stop messages being sent via iMessage?

    Hi
At the weekend my son accidentally dropped my iPhone 5 in the bath. It is totally fried, won't even power up. I'm using a Samsung that my friend has kindly lent me, but when my Mrs tries to send me a text from her iPhone it still wants to go via iMessage. I have tried disabling iMessage on my iPad, but it still persists. Nearly my whole family are using iPhones so this is a big problem. I am not able to get another iPhone until September when my contract is up.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Call AppleCare and ask them to deactivate iMessage for that phone number.

  • Text being sent, need to handle with PI

    Hi,
I have a mobile application that uploads orders to PI. Everything is working except for a test function. It sends a payload to PI to confirm the 'network' is functioning. However, the payload of the call is text. When viewing the payload in the PI logs the text 'TEST' appears. PI then generates an error for this call. I'd like to be able handle this payload without having to ask the developer to send an XML document. I could get the developer to change the code but it would mean $$$$ and deploying the update to a lot of devices. Is there any way I can deal with this in PI.
    Many thanks in advance.

I'm having problems defining a condition in the interface determination. Let me recap.
I have a very simple HTTP interface. The application using this interface can send a request with a valid XML document in the payload OR a simple text string. Using the interface determination I need to be able to map the valid XML document to one RFC and the test string to another RFC. The condition for the XML document is simple but defining a condition for the text string is proving to be next to impossible. According to the condition & expression editor documentation I have to use an Xpath expression to refer to the element I want to u2018testu2019. How can I use an Xpath expression when the document Iu2019m referring to isnu2019t a valid XML document.
Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

  • Switched from iPhone to Android and now iMessage being sent instead of Text

A friend of mine recently switched from iPhone to Android and now my text are being sent as iMessage instead of text and he obviously isn't receiving it. How do I fix this bug. I'm using iPhone 4 running iOS 5

I apologize about the odd style but I'm using voice rec software.  I just got the Galaxy S five and I have this problem too after weeks of searching online I finally figured out the problem it is with iMessage even if you have your old phones imessage switched off. you have to get your friends to text you normally and send. If the text bubble shows up blue, press and hold choose option send as SMS or text and the bubble will change to green green means SMS blue is the iMessage so its up to the iPhone user to take literally a half of an extra step to send a text to you and if they don't do that then they're just jerks

  • Texts are still sending to imessage, but i do not have an iphone anymore. How do I find these lost messages being sent?

  • Excessive number of texts ... Text not sent

I'm a high school coach who uses text lists to mass contact his kids about workouts, etc. I have over a hundred kids and parents in a group and use either handcent or chomp to communicate. Problem is I keep getting a message to the effect that there are a large number of texts being sent out, and to press "here" to allow them. Pressing "here" doesn't work for but one or two and I have to spend way too much time finishing the transmission. I have unlimited texting with my service. Any ideas?

Best bet is try to contact the app developers

Since upgrading to iOS7 some text messages are not being sent on my iPhone 5, iMessage on my Ipads and MacBook doesn't have my phone number registered and my reminder colour on my Iphone keeps changing ... among other things. Any suggestions to fix these faults?

Make sure People Sending you via iMessage are sending their messages on your PHONE number not on your EMAIL addresses . My sister had the same problem, thats how i managed to solve it!
