Texts in iPod

What is restrictions of text-files size in iPod? I've put some texts in Notes folder on my iPod, but them was cut. Is it a feature or is it my mistake?

The iPod will only display the first ~4000 characters of any note, but can store text files up to the lesser of the iPod's free space or 4GB for a PC formatted iPod, and up to the iPod's free space on a Mac formatted iPod.

Blue Screen with Text re IPOD size not being valid

Now everytime I reboot, I get a blue screen full of text about the IPOD size not being valid, and I have to hit the reset button to get out of the loop.
THEN, when I try to just wipe everything off the IPOD and start over/Restore, I get a message that says IPOD manager internal error.

With the internal memory error message stopping Update, I went online to see if I could manually download the latest update...or any update. Even a previous version.
But to do that I have to go back to Itunes 7...The only reason I don't like version 7 is that my Ipod contents disappear from the Itunes source window when the Ipod is not connected to the computer.
Anyone know of a more reliable mp3 player ?

Is there a charge for texting from ipod touch to non apple phones?

My kids have ipod touches and a couple of their friends have cell phones they are texting to. Is there a charge for this? They do have Textie, but I don't think all of the kids have that on their phones.

It depends what application you are using. The standard Messenger application that comes with iPod 5.0 Software can only messenge iPod to iPod. A third party application, such as textPlus, (which I use) can text to phones for free, with internet connection. The incoming text dosn't charge the recipient. So it is, as it says, free texting.

Cut off text on iPod summary screen

Text on the summary screen for iPods is cut off. iPod description is cut at the bottom of the font text. Text in the options field doesn't show full description. It just ends in ... I can't even mouse over to get a full description and the iTunes help is horrible.

In the method run(), you call the method MakeConnection(), which might throw an IOException.
Since IOException is a checked exception, you must in the method run() specify what you're going to do when an IOException happens. You must either catch the exception (put the call to MakeConnection in a try / catch block) or indicate that run() can throw an IOException by specifying it at the beginning of the method:
public void run() throws IOException { ...
But note that you'll just be moving the problem to the method that calls run(). Somewhere in your program you must catch and handle the exception.

Text in iPod section of iTunes for windows not totally showing up???

When my iPod/iPhone is connected and I browse different sections of iPod/iPhone are in iTunes for Windows, there are several lines of text instructions. Some of which don't display the entire sentence. This seems very odd since there is plenty of blank screen real estate available.
For example:
In the Summary Section (with iPod/iPhone connected), I see 2 lines of text under Version and 4 lines of text under Summary. None of the sentences can be seen complete.
In the Music section, under Sync, I see 1st line reading "Include music videos" but on the next line I only see "Include voice m..." and the following line I see "Automatically fill free space with songs". So why did the shorter sentence not display complete?

Dell laptop w/ Windows 7 HP 64.

Mine is a brand new machine. Burning software was installed before iTunes was installed. I am looking at this article which points to a possible problem with the GEAR drivers: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308
It also points to the afs.sys and afs2k.sys drivers as a potential problem. I've verified that I don't have these drivers on my machine.
When I go to the GEAR site, it tells you to manually uninstall the GEAR drivers and install the latest ones. First, manual uninstall which involves editing the registry. Really? While I'm quite the expert at registry editing, NO CONSUMER should ever be told to edit the registry to delete anything. Second, if in fact the GEAR drivers are the problem, shouldn't iTunes install the right ones? This is a prime example of poor software engineering at its core.

How to Right Justify text on Ipod

My ipod has been through some wear and tear, long story short, the screen is "cracked" so to speak down the middle and from the middle of the screen to the left side i cannot see anything. I'm trying to figure out how to right justify all of the text so that i can actually use my ipod and search songs

You can't change the layout of any part of the iPod OS. Sorry. You might want to consider getting the screen replaced. There are lots of third party repair outfits that charge less than Apple to so the job.

Saving text on iPod

I'm wondering if it's possible to save lengthy text documents (say, 50,000 words) onto your iPod so that they're actually viewable ON the iPod. I've tried, but the text cuts off like six lines down. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know if there are any plans (or if it's even possible) for Apple to get past this 4K/1000 note limit? I would think that as long as I have space on my iPod, that I would be able to put on as many notes as possible!
The reason that I'm asking is that I have a couple of cataloging programs (Bookpedia & DVDpedia) that can export to iPod. However, with the current 4K/1000 note limit, I can never view all of either database! I can see them in the iPod directing in the OS finder, but can't actually view them on the iPod.
Where is this limitation coming from? Is it an Apple set limitation or is it a technology limitation that hasn't been "fixed" yet?

Selecting Text on iPod Touch.

Is there a way to select/cut/paste text in emails or from web pages on the iPod Touch?
For example could I select some text in Safari and copy/paste it into a Note or email?
I assume there is none as I can't find it in the manual and it isn't in any of the discussion forums here (that I could find).

Do you mean you downloaded it form the iTunes Music Store? (iTunes is a program. You cannot download from it.)

An audio cable will get the audio but not the video.
That is why it's called an AUDIO cable.

my daughter has an ipod touch,I have iphone 4, I have her setup under my itunes acct so she can get my downloads, etc but now when she texts on the ipod it comes to my phone, why?

I had a similar issue once with music going over to my iPod. I lept thinking that the music wasn't there cause it wasn't showing up under the artist. Turned out that the music was there, but what the problem was is the way that it was named in iTunes. If you look under the phones content in iTunes by looking at the devices under the devices tab on the left. There'll be a little arrow. Click that and then click music. You'll probably see the content there. Then do a search on the device for a song and see how your device is seeing it. iTunes sorts artist in many different ways. Arist, sort artist l, ect. You just have to see how it's sorting them.

Question About Texting on iPod Touch

Against my will I am being dragged into the world of texting.... that being said please forgive me if this is a "dumb" question but I'm a real "texting newby".
If I receive a text message on my phone ( not an iPhone )from someone that may, or may not have the same wireless carrier as me can I reply to that person using some type of texting application on my iPod Touch? If so, where can I find instructions?

I use a free app I downloaded called textPlus. The itouch will only be able to send messages with a wifi connection. The person receiving the message will be charged for receiving your text. But messages you send from the itouch will be free.
