Texts send as iMessage to iPad instead of SMS to iPhone iOS7

My BF has iMessage OFF on his iPhone 4 (running iOS6) but ON on his iPad Air (iOS7). I want to leave iMessage ON on my iPhone 4 (running iOS7) because other people who text me need to use it. But when I send my BF a text now my messages default to him via iMessage and goes to his iPad Air and not his iPhone 4! I used to be able to just click and hold on the message after it was sent to manually send it as SMS but that is no longer an option since the iOS7 update! Pressing and holding on the message while it is sending brings up the option to "send as text" but it sends too quick as an iMessage for me to select it and then once it is sent, selecting and holding on it just brings up the option to either "copy" or forward the message after selecting "more." My BF does not like iMessage ON on his phone so are there any suggestions to get it to where I can send him an SMS to his phone but still leave iMessage turned ON on my phone?

Hey guys, I figured out a solution so I'm posting it in case someone else has the same situation. I had to uncheck my BF's phone number under Settings>Messages>Receive At>...on his iPad. I left his e-mail checked and now he can send iMessages still from his iPad, it just shows his e-mail address if I get a message from him that way. And, when I send him a message to his phone number it sends it as an SMS since iMessaging is OFF on his iPhone and I get to keep iMessage ON on my iPhone! Thanks everyone for your previous help.

I am sorry, my english isn't very good.
Next try :) I send a iMessage from my ipad (wifi only) to a friend and he answers but i don't receive the answer on the ipad but on the iphone instead. Both devices using the same Apple ID (Settings>Messages>Receive At, same Adress on both devices). I tought iMessages are always received on bothe devices, like the advertisment says i should be able to start a iMessage conversation on ipad and finish it on iphone because both devices receive my iMessages... Thats not like it is on my devices, most times iMessages are only received from the iphone.

How do you send a imessage to ipad from iphone

The iPad must have iMessage registered and enabled, and you need to address the iMessage to an email address that is set up and selected to be used with iMessage on the iPad. If the iPad owner also has an iPhone, an iMessage can be addressed to the iPhone's cell phone number if the iPad owner has their iPhone number selected to be reached at with iMessage on the iPad.

    How do I do that?

    Howdy kingtonz,
If I understand you correctly, you want to limit to limit your use of the Messages application to non-iCloud sources such as text messaging through your phone carrier, is that right?
You can turn off the use of iMessages in Settings > Messages > iMessage. See this help article -

  • Is there a way to text someone on iMessage without using your number on an iphone

is there a way to text someone on iMessage without using your number on an iphone ? there's someone i want to text but it's long distant an ik not sure about giving my number to them just yet. so is there a way to send them a message from iMessage on my iPhone rather then using my number  ? please let me know ASAP !

Sending an iMessage with your phone number does not matter whether it is long distance phone call or not. That has no bearing on how iMessage works. iMessages from the phone that is activated with the phone number will send from the phone number.

When I send out iMessages they show up on other peoples iPhones as being sent from my email address. How do I correct this?

No that was not it. I was signed into my iMessages under my email address as soon as I signed out others can now receive my texts under my number. Thanks for the help though

  • Texts send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone?

Lost my iphone last month & planning to buy a ipad2 to instead as I just need the SMS message function but not phone conversation function.
So, could SMS send from a 3G ipad "imessages" app could deliver to a normal cell phone or a blackberry which doesn't have any iTune apps?

    hofai wrote:
What I want to know is doesn't ipad 3G could perform SMS function like an iphone?
The only answer anyone here could give you is, "because Apple didn't include that feature."  Submit your feedback directly to Apple requesting that feature using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
You can also use one of the many texting applications found in the App Store. They work over data so they don't require a texting plan.

  • I have a new iPhone 4S, have noticed when texting some of my contacts with iPhones that my text sends on imessage and the text duplicates itself.  how do i stop this from happening?

I have a new iPhone 4S and have noticed that when I text a friend with an iPhone it automatically send the message via imessage and sends the text twice, how can I stop this from happening?

Your phone is setup from default with iMessage turned on. Your friends phone obviously isn't. I have a friend that has an iPhone 3G[S] with an old phone plan that didn't require a data package and he's just been swapping the sim card for 5 years. When he's at home, his phone is on wifi and it sends over iMessage. When he's at work on 3G the phone defaults back to text message because he doesn't have a data plan to send iMessage over. The phone isn't actually sending 2 messages. You send in iMessage and if the other phone is off of iMessage, it will resend to that phone as a green text message. That person never got the blue iMessage you tried to send because their iMessage wasn't working.

  • How do I Fix Other People Sending Me iMessages when I no Longer Have an iPhon

    Hi,
So, I recently decided to go away from the Apple iPhone, which I enjoyed, just too costly. Though, when I left, to go to android, I kept the same sim, and transferd it over to my new phone, with no issues.
The issue is on the other end, other people's cell phones (iPhones with iMessage) think I still have a iPhone, automaticly sending an iMessage. Most people don't know how to send it, like a regular message, so I'm wondering how I can disconnect iMessage from my android phone. Or would I have to contact my carrier to repair this issue, as I believe it still recognizes my new android as an iPhone.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Texts send as iMessage to Samsung user

    Hey Guys,
I have a huge problem with texting people who switched phones from iPhone to ie Samsung or Sony and no longer have iMessage option.
My iPhone still recognizes these contacts as iPhone(iMessage).
Everytime I want to text them I have to switch the iMessage option off (or really quickly press the button 'send as an sms'. , but thats no fun or working well whatsoever).
Do you know how can I 'tell' my iphone that these contacts are no longer iPhone users, so please don't try to iMessage them?
Please help me, cause this is really annoying.
    Thanks

  • Sending an imessage to ipad

    Hi,
I have an iphone 5 and I've been trying to imessage my friend's ipad, both of us have imessage turned on and there's no problem with either, we can both imessage other people.
My friend can send my iphone an imessage from her ipad, I just can't return it. It comes up in green as a normal message and my friend never receives it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hello problem126,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iMessage.  I recommend the steps below, but steps 3-4 in the second section seems most applicable to the situation you described:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps first
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you have registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you have selected iMessage for use. Learn more abouttroubleshooting iMessage registration if the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. Learn more about troubleshootingcellular data or a Wi-Fi connection if a data connection isn't available.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while on a call if your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you are still unable to send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Verify that the contact you are attempting to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up orforward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

  • Texts send as iMessage

When someone tries texting me it sends as an iMessage Not as a text and therefore I don't receive it because I don't have data. So what can I do or the person that's trying to text me to fix this?

    Kevin Schimpf wrote:
I Don't have data in my plan.
Then do not use iMessages as they use data (either cell or wifi).
    Just use SMS.
    FYI: The app is Messages.
Messages app sends iMessage texts or SMS texts.
iMessages are a specific type of text that Apple users have and always goes over data.
SMS texts does not go over data.

  • IMessage on iPad Mini. One has iPhone number, one does not??

OK, so we bought two iPad Mini's and we both have iPhone 4S. iMessage is supposed to send msg's between the devices, correct? Well, when I set-up mine, I did not have the option to include my phone number when I used my Apple ID (yes, the number is in the settings for my Apple ID). When my wife set her's up, it did give her the option of using the phone number associated with her Apple ID. As a result, messages get sent to both her devices, but not to mine, unless only the email associated with the Apple ID is used.
You can clearly see by the two pictures the differences I described above (minus the specific ID information).
My Question: How do I get my phone number onto my iPad Mini?

Update ipad mini 3 ios 8.2 on itunes - windows 7, got error code 0xE800001C, plz help me...And i want to use my second phone number (not the same number as my iphone5s..) to use it as the numbers in iMessage for this ipad mini 3...is it possible?
