Texts sent as email

I just activated my iPhone 5. When i text people they are receiving texts from my email not my phone number, also to FaceTime me people have to use my e-mail. Any idea why this is happening?

You need to go in to settings and change what your Send & Receive address(es). Got to Settings --> Messages --> Send & Receive.

Ah! You've received the 4.3 update. Did you try looking in the exchange server settings?
I've read that a hard reset fixes some of the problems, but that some remain.

Are you entering your full 10 digit number, no dashes or spaces, no leading 1?

That will send it as MMS, allowing for longer messages, and they may be sending them out as MMS, rather than SMS.

Text message to email sent as attachment instead of in email body

I used to have this problem before with my iPhone 4, but it seemed to go away. Now, with the lates OS update it's back again. When I send a text message to my wife's Gmail it arrives as a text file attachment to the email instead of just normal text in the email body.
I use Verizon, and the source of the email is @vzwpix.com. I know that there is also @vtext.com, but in the past it hasn't mattered which one was used.
Any ideas?

If you try reading other posts here about attachments and such you may get a hint. It sounds like all email programs would work fine if people just sent plain text. Problems arise when we use RTF (rich text format) and HTML. Possibly the original email you received had formatted text. My guess is that if you forced that text into plain text then it would be readable by all. This is the reason that only some people have trouble with the forwarded text. It depends on their email client or even on settings of that client.

Scaanned pdf to email text vahishes when email is sent

Using printer HP 6700 I scan a text document in pdf format to email. I look in outlook and the file appears. I add text to the email and send it. The email is received without the text but with the attachment. I look at the email just sent, and the text has also vanished. Using MS Outlook in office 365. I have reloaded all HP software. also Tried using different computer with no success. If I manually attach a scanned document the text in the email does not vanish. Outlook is verified as up to date. Recent change was to install new router - now ganged with a second Linksys router in a remote location. MS Community suggests I check with HP Community for suggestions or hopefully a solution.

I understand you're having an issue scanning directly into your e-mail using your HP Officejet 6700 Premium e All-in-One Printer, with you Windows 8.1 system. I'd like to help you with that. I need a little more information on how you are scanning to better assist you. When you are starting a scan, are you selecting the scan to e-mail function on the front panel of the printer? Or are you opening the HP software on your computer to start the scan?
If you are using the scan to e-mail app on the front panel of the printer, are you forwarding the e-mail once it's received in your inbox? If you are using the HP software to scan directly into the Outlook program, try saving the file instead and attaching it to a newly composed message, does that work? If this does work, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know if you get any errors or messages. I look forward to hearing back from you, and working towards a resolution!

How can you get text sent from a phone on your account to your email?

I need to know i can see what is being sent in text by a phone on my account or the number that is being texted but i dont know how

The title of your post isn't the same as the post, so I'm a bit confused. If you want to see the numbers being texted by phones on your account, log into your on-line MyVerizon account (assuming you are the Account Owner and logged in as such) and click the blue Usage Details. Select the appropriate line at the top of the page (if applicable) and then under the table showing text usage, click the blue View Messaging Details. However, texts sent/received via iMessage won't show up since they don't go through Verizon's system.
If you want texts sent to your e-mail, you should be able to forward them. If it's another phone on your account that you're wanting those texts sent to your e-mail, there may be an app for that, but I'm not sure. With Androids, you can get apps that back up text messages and then forward them to your e-mail; I don't know if there's a similar iPhone app or not.

Go to settings > messages > send & receive

I think the app GroupMe might do what you want. You might also try contacting your carrier. My carrier offered some fancy group texting service for a while but they never really advertised it so, unless you asked, you never would have known. But, GroupMe is available in the app store. There are lots of other apps that also do group texting but it seems to be the one that gets recommended the most.

The problem is with the new operating system and sending photo via email when used in my iPad. From photo I selected 3 photos to send via email. I choose the upload key and choose to send by email. Typing text on the email is very slow.

Can you amend he system to allow emails to be sent from photo as previously.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

How do I create a custom sound/vibration profile per app, SMS text, phone, or email contact?

I have a Verizon iPhone 4s recently upgraded to iOS 7. I'm an IT engineer who's on call and started a new job last week with a company that doesn't provide company phones like a blackberry. So now I get tons of company email alerts, text messages, and phone calls both private and for work. I always have my phone switched to vibrate to filter out the noise of generic emails/texts/phone calls, but I also need to be able to configure specific emails sent from our network monitoring servers, text messages from my teammates and alerting devices, as well as phone calls from our internal tech support to be sent with sound. Ideally I also need to be able to configure alert options in an "On-call" profile I can switch on so that I can configure alert repeats and the most annoying noise I can find so I don't sleep through network pages.. But I still want to be able to keep the default vibrate for everyone else and everything else.. How do I create a custom sound/vibration profile per app, SMS text, phone, or email contact? In blackberry's, you can easily create different profiles to switch back/forth and configure each app/text/phone option to either a sound option or vibrate. iPhone seems to be all vibrate or all sound, with little to no options to mix/match the two.. If Apple ever hopes to truly capture the enterprise market blackberry has, this is the most standard and essential feature on blackberries for IT professionals.. If I have to buy a third-party app for this, so be it. But I've been searching for hours and found nothing that creates customized sound/vibrate profiles for iPhone like this (minus jailbreaking your phone, but I shouldn't have to jailbreak a $699 "smartphone" for simple sound/vibrate/alert options like this..).

As far as I can tell with my iphone what you want to do is not possible. There are sites that tell you how to make different ringtones for the device but your choices to change sounds for email and text/sms messages are controlled unders sounds in the setting menu. Again the manual is on your phone and online if you need assistance changing sounds and ringtones.

My bad, It was a Verizon problem. When they upgraded my phone they were supposed to remove all blocks on messaging . Found out they did not do this. All messaging now works. Thanks for listening.

Daughter's iPod Touch receiving texts sent between my wife and I

My daughter's iPod Touch is receiving texts sent between my wife and I. I understand that I can manually disable this on the iPod Touch, but she could feasibly re-enable this and spy on us. Is this correct? If so, this is a huge problem for everything from discussing surprise birthday plans, Christmas presents, to sending "intimate" messages to one another.
How do I handle this centrally and permanently prevent her from seeing messages that my wife and I send back and forth?

Your daughter needs her own Apple ID for iMessage, FaceTime & iCloud.
The Apple ID needs to be a verified email address. Once you have an email address, that can be verified, go here & create the ID:

Then on her phone, turn off Contacts, Calendars, etc. for iCloud. You'll be prompted to keep the data or delete it from the phone, then turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then, setup iCloud using the new Apple ID, turn on iMessage & Facetime.
This will have no affect on the ID you both share for iTunes content, & you can continue to do so.

Use PHP to create a table within your message body:
    $message = '<table border="1">';
    $message .= '<tr>';
    $message .= '<td>E-mail :</td><td>'.$email.'</td>';
    $message .= '</tr><tr>';
    $message .= '<td>Company :</td><td>'.$company.'</td>';
    $message .= '</tr>';
    $message .= '</table>';
The above script will capture Email & Company. But you should get the idea. Add all the desired fields within here by creating new <tr> rows/ columns.
And your existing script will do the rest of mailing this out as a 'table'.

I5 ios7 Texts sent to me when my phone was off are not received - Shouldn't they be queued and sent to me when phone is turned on?

My phone was off for awhile, and I had quite a few people tell me they had try to text me when it was off, so I thought there should be texts waiting. However, when I turned my phone on, I didn't receive any. Is this supposed to happen? With my old phone (not an iphone) I would receive all of the texts sent to me even if my phone was off when it was sent. Is there a way I can receive them?
My 'send and receive' settings have my phone number and email selected
SMS is on
Was NOT on airplane mode when turned off
Was not on 'do not disturb'

Update to my original problem. Spent over an hour at the genius bar, deleted all my info, went back to factory settings, reloaded everything, switched off, got a message sent - same problem, didn't arrive. Apple guy said it must be a SIM problem as he'd tried everything he could think of. Went to Vodafone, changed SIM - still happening!! Will try Apple again when I have time, but this is so frustrating!! Any ideas anyone??
