Texture filter

what happened to the texture filter in photoshop cs6?
it exsisted in cs5.
Help!

If you mean Texturizer than it's still in CS6 and accessible through Filter > Filter Gallery. If you want all filters names in the Filter menu then you can enable that in Preferences as shown below.

  • Texture filter does not show option menu (PSE 10)

    I had PSE 10 installed on my Vista PC, which I have replaced with a new Windows 7 PC.
    I re-installed PSE fresh from a new download.
    Before, when I clicked on the Texture filter, I was shown a screen where I could choose Canvas, Sandstone, Brick, etc., the size of the effect, the direction of the light.
    Now, when I click on Texture, the texture is immediately applied to my selection, and I don't have a chance to look at options.
    Just in case there was a problem with the install, I removed PSE and re-downloaded and re-installed. Still behaves the same.
    Is there a control or option I'm missing? I don't remember  having to do anything to get this behavior the first time I used PSE.
    Thanks for any insight!

  • Android market and GL Texture Filter

    The Android market update gives an option to select a GL Texture Filter:
    "Market will support filtering based on screen sizes and densities, as well as on GL texture compression formats. Filtering is based on <compatible-screens> and <uses-gl-texture> elements in an app’s manifest."
    Do our applications with render mode = GPU fail under that category?
    Thanks.

  • Texture filter in Rgb mode to cmyk - safe for print job?

    I want to apply the texture filter to a photo for a print job but the texture filter only works in rgb. Can the rgb file be SAFELY converted to cmyk for print?

    In what way do you think a conversion from RGB to CMYK after the application of the filter will not be safe? What do you expect to go wrong?
    ...or if you have tried it, what has gone wrong?

  • Textur Filter

    Hi,
    Probably this is not 100% matching this category here but,
    is there a way to add a kind of 'Textur Filter ' to a Fill that we could have some more 'dirty' fills ?

    Hallo,

  • Why is Texture in PS5 not selectable???

    I don't get it: my old CS2 has PS with texture filter that actually is there, while my PS5 app shows an unselectable "texture" in filters. WHAT IS WITH THAT? I feel ripped - off now that I need to use it in this project.

    What's your color mode? Check that as wel las color profiles and other stuff that may lead a filter to assume a wrong bit depth or color space and prevent it from working...

  • Bootcamp running XP & effects on PC gaming

    Has anyone tried to run Bootcamp on an Intel Core Duo system and played some PC games on the Mac?
    I've invested several hundreds of dollars in PC games (because no one develops games for Mac) and want to know if the gaming performace from an Intel Core Duo running XP is similar to running on a PC.

    just installed Call of Duty 2 and it works well
    1280x720 (1440x900 supported but choppy)
    wide 16:9 aspect ratio
    60hz
    bilinear texture filter
    2x anti aliasing
    rendering method directx9 (directx7 would be a lot faster)
    shadows on
    low dynamic lights
    world only soft smoke edge
    tiny number of corpses
    i'm sorry i just don't know how to show the FPS count within the game. don't have time to mess around with the config file.

  • Screen flickering in KDE 4.2 after pacman -Syu

    Hi there,
    yesterday I did a "pacman -Syu" and since then my screen keeps flickering every now and then when I move my mouse over the screen or when a new dialog pops up. Sometimes it even flickers when the plasma widget RSSNow slides in new articles.
    I can't really nail it, but it seems to be worse if there are many plasma widgets and / or windows open.
    It seems to be especially bad when one of my two plasma panels is set to "auto hide".
    I've tried to play with the advanced Desktop Effect settings like OpenGl mode, texture filter, VSync and such, but nothing improved. Before the system update my NVidia card was happily playing with KWin.
    Has anybody had similar experiences over the last couple of days?

    I'm still having problems with my screen flickering, jittering and causing me headaches.
    Just to make sure it's not the Nvidia driver, I'm testing the open source driver right now instead of the official, proprietary Nvidia one, although it doesn't support any 3D.
    I also have the suspicion that cpufrequtils might be the guilty bit. Has anybody had any graphic related problems when running cpufrequtils with the ondemand governor?
    Does that make any sense? Could it be the cause of my graphic problems?

  • PhotoShop Filters grayed out when using Aperture

    I sent some photos from Aperture to PS to add some frames. Used the Texture filter and all went well for 3 photos. Then it quit working. Some of the filters are grayed out. I tried the same thing from Lightroom and it was the same. All worked fine with iPhoto. If I export the photos to another folder, desk top etc., then open them in PS, all the filters are working. But for some reason some of the filters will not work when opening a photo from Aperture to PS.
    Any suggestion why some filters would quit when they worked before?
    Thanks, Allie

    That's because you have ACR set to 8 bit and you have Aperture set to 16 bit. (Clicking the text that looks like a web link at the bottom of the ACR window is how you change it)
    You could change Aperture's external editor preferences to send 8 bit instead of 16 bit.
    Or
    Once in Photoshop you could change it: Image>> Mode >> 8 Bit as I think Steve was suggesting.

  • KDE4 and NVidia 8300GS problems [Solved]

    Symptons:
    Screen Tearing
    Desktop Effects not completely working
    What changed:
    Suddenly, seems all of the Desktop Effects started working proplerly.
    What I did:
    hwd -xa
    nvidia-xconfig
    Edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf
         Changed Depth from 16 to 24
         Added my "1680x1050" to Mode lines
    http://pastebin.com/f620a77c7
    Systems Settings, Desktop:
         Enable Desktop Effects checked
         Advanced Options Button:
              Compositing Type: OpenGL
              OpenGL mode: Texture From Pixmap
              Texture filter: Bilinear
              Direct rendering checked
              Use VSync unchecked
         All Effects Tab:
              Items checked are as follows:
              Track Mouse
              Zoom
              Dialog Parent
              Login
              Logout
              Minimize Animation
              Present Windows
              Scale In
              Shadow
              Desktop Grid
              Flip Switch
              Note: these are different from the defaults
    My only guess is that turning off the Fade effect allowed other effects to start working properly.  Weird thing is I didn't manually select Track Mouse or Zoom.
    It might be possible that I clicked things in just the right order this time.
    Items that work now that used not to:
    Explosion
    Fall Apart
    Snow
    Wobbly Windows
    Flip Switch
    NVidia drivers installed:
    dave@dellazoid ~  $  yaourt -Ss nvidia | grep installed
    extra/nvidia 173.14.12-1 [installed]
    extra/nvidia-utils 173.14.12-1 [installed]
    extra/nvclock 0.8b3-2 [installed]
    See the results here:
    http://webpages.charter.net/leutzdave/M … Switch.jpg
    IMPORTANT Additional Note:
    Noticed that running a diff on current xorg.conf against old backup copies shows that the change
    From:     Depth 16
    To:         Depth 24
    is the more likely cause of things working now.
    At some time long ago, evidently, I redid the xorg configuration and missed that one item.

    I have an idea that I will be researching around for more information on.
    In KDE, I remember that Opengl was used in a setting instead of NVIDIA's X Rendering (or was it direct rendering...).
    With my minor knowledge of graphics cards and rendering, I came up with this:
    Opengl's memory management was used in KDE, so it explains how my computer was able to handle both compositing and graphic intensive games. And that X Rendering is not good  at(or has any ability)  managing memory. So I must find a way for NVIDIA to only use Opengl.
    Please correct me if I am making the wrong conclusion!
    EDIT: Looking at the NVIDIA server settings again, it looks like it already uses Opengl.
    Reading more from many forums, it looks like Xfce's compositing uses EXA for rendering confusing the situation just a little more.

  • Question about Additional Layers

    I have been experimenting and have become successful in creating a blurred background.  With my limited knowledge of layers, I would like to know what my next step would be if I want to add either some texture or lighting effects..  I have the original picture, a duplicate layer, I created a gaussian blur, I then created a levels adjustment layer - filled it with black, I then dragged the adjustment layer in between the original and duplicate, then I created a clipping mask with the background layer, I selected the adjustment layer and used a "white" brush to wash away the blur around the faces on the picture.
    I now want to add some texture and lighting effects. What should I do next ? Should I create another layer or use one of the ones I already have?

    I take it you have the image the way you want it but now want to apply effects to the completed image. You could do this a couple of ways.
    Method 1.
    One would be to make a composite layer. Create a blank layer over your image, then press these four keys at the same time...ctrl + shift + alt + E. (On a mac, the keys are cmd + shift + opt + E.) This will make a composite layer while retaining the separate layers in case you want to go back and change something.
    I would recommending duplicating the composite layer you created (ctrl + J on PC; cmd + J on mac). Apply the desired filter  to this duplicate. By doing it this way, you can use the layer's opacity to control the strength of the filter and/or change the filtered layer's blend mode.
    Method 2.
    Alternately, you could make a duplicate of the image...just in case you want to go back and change something later. I think in Elements, it'll be Image<Duplicate. This will make a new file of the image you created. Flatten this duplicate image. I think in Elements, the command is Layers<Flatten Image.
    As with method 1, I would recommend making a copy of your composite...in this case the layer you've flattened...so you can use opacity to control the filters strength or even change the filtered layer's blend mode.
    I would probably try using the texture filter before using lighting effects assuming you want the lighting effects to interact with the texture.

  • Qosmio X870 shutting down without reason - low perfs

    Hello everyone,
    I have recently bought a Qosmio X870 116 and I am extremely disappointed. It is supposed to be a gaming computer but I can barely run a single game without the PC crashes. I tried to run recent games such as Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2. During the downloading of the GW2 launcher, the PC crashed after a while, shutting down without any reason.
    I eventually managed to install the game on my laptop anyway but I still encounter some issues since as I play, after not more than two minutes, the game slows down, the frame per second rate drops dramatically to 2 fps and the laptop crashes again.
    I think there is a problem with the graphic card or the fan because eveytime I try to launch a game, the fan starts to run very fast and noisely.
    I thought it also may be a problem with the Nvidia technology because of their Optimus service on their recent graphic cards, therefore I tried to "prioritize" the use of my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M instead of the chipset Intel HD Family 4000 used in the laptop, by right-clicking on the GW2 icon and opening the NVIDIA panel to select the "Nvidia High performances" option.
    Unfortunately, the game still crashes after a few minutes. I obviously updated the drivers for the Nvidia but still, it doesnt work.
    Moreover, the laptop seems pretty slow to me even while browsing on the Internet and the desktop which is rather worrying since the laptot has 12 GB memory.
    Does anyone has an idea what is the reason for such low performances?
    Thanks by advance.

    Try this with your video card and power settings:
    Go to NVIDIA Control Panel (right click on desktop, 8th selection down), select/click
    First tab {Adjust image settings with preview}:
    Select: {Use my preference emphasizing: Performance}
    **select "performance"**
    Hit {Apply}
    Second tab {Manage 3D settings}
    **It gets technical but make sure it is exactly as I say it or it will not work. **
    Go to Subtab 1{Global Settings}:
    {Preferred graphics processor:}
    **SELECT "High-performance NVIDIA processor** *(see Note 1 at end)*
    Settings: *Again,it has to be exact; first phrase in { } is "Features" the first column, second phrase in { } is the "Settings", the second column:
    **Everything is on a drop-down menu if you click on the {Feature} name and mouse over the {Setting} option**
    {Ambient Occlusion} {Performance}
    {Anisotropic filtering} {Off}
    {Antialiasing-FXAA} {On}
    {Antialiasing-Gamma correction} {On}
    {Antialiasing-Mode} {Off}
    *Grayed out* {Antiliasing-Setting} {None}
    *Grayed out* {Antiliasing-Transparency} {Off}
    {CUDA-GPUs} {All}
    {Maximum pre-rendered frames} {4}
    {Multi-dislpay/mixed-GPU acceleration} {Single display performance mode} (see Note 2)
    {Power management mode] [Prefer maximum performance] **a no brainer but its default is not this setting**
    {Texture filtering-Anisotropic sample opt...} {On}
    {Texture filtering-Negative LOD bias} {Allow}
    {Texture filter-Quality} {Quality}
    {Texture filtering-Trilinear optimization} {On}
    {Threaded optimization} {Auto}
    {Triple buffering} {Off}
    {Vertical sync} {Off}
    *Hit "Apply" before moving to the third tab {Set PhysX Configuration}
    Third tab {Set PhysX Configuration}:
    *ONLY SETTING IN TAB*
    Select "GeForce GTX 670M"
    Hit {Apply}
    **NOT "CPU" and, NEVER "Auto-select (recommended)"** (see Note 1, again)
    Go to Power Settings in your Control Panel:
    Choose a Power Plan Option (Search "power" in search bar, choose the "Power plan", second selection under "Power Options" page.
    *GO WITH THE HIGH PERFORMANCE OPTION, VERY CRITICAL!!!!* By default it is on "balance" (I believe)
    Note 1: As far as I can tell the OS (Win8) can't transition like Win7 did between CPU and graphics card. Therefore every time graphics get going hard enough to demand the cards performance, the frames per rate stops or slows.
    Note 2: Select other option if setup is different.

  • Gaming and window compositing problems [SOLVED]

    Greetings,
    I suffer from frame rate problems when compositing is enabled while playing games.
    On this computer, they worked side by side without too many problems when I used KDE (the desktop effects were not automatically disabled by KDE either).
    Now I use Xfce and have enjoyed it so far except for the problem mentioned earlier.
    I have a NVIDIA graphics card and tried some ideas out at this article but with no luck so far.
    I remember changing KDE's texture filter to "nearest" and I think that helped but I am not completely sure.
    Are there some settings in Xfce or NVIDIA I should change? Or should I do something else all together?

  • Very unusual problem, please help

    Hi. I have CS4 and use an iMac with an Epson R1900 printer.  Here's my problem:  Every time I print a picture, the picture comes out with a textured background.  For example, I'm attempting to print a picture of a flower with a green background.  The picture  prints such that the background is textured (just as if I had applied a texture filter) but the the flower comes out just fine with no texturing.  This just started last night and I don't know whether I hit some sort of setting by mistake but it is frustrating the heck out of me.  I've tried printing several images and they all come out the same.  The main subject comes out fine but the background is textured or patterned.  Can anyone help me?
    My guess is somehow the program is corrupted.  Now I still have PS3 installed too (never uninstalled it when installing CS4)  and tried printing a picture.  The exact same results; textured/patterned background.  Has anyone ever had this problem before?  Appreciate any help you can give.

    Well Jeff, you were right.  I printed a test page last night and it seemed to have no problems.  Once I read your post I reprinted another page and sure enough, the yellow and black nozzles were not right.  Although they weren't completely empty, I replaced those cartridges and ran through some cleanings.  The prints then came out correctly.  The way the picture printed really threw me.  I thought these were patterns or textures but they were just due to clogged nozzles.
    Thanks for your help.  I really really appreciate it.  From now on I will definitely check the nozzels before printing especially if the printer has been standing idle for a while.  Lesson learned.  Thank you.

  • Loading Textures in the Filter Gallery Texturizer

    I created a few seamless tiles in PSD format to be loaded into the Texturizer filter under the Filter Gallery in CS6 on a Windows 7 machine.
    In the flyout menu, there is an option to LOAD a new texture. I loaded four or five new ones, but only the last one is visible in the list. From all I can tell, I will always have to load a new texture there to be able to use it. The default textures are always loaded : brick, burlap, canvas & sandstone.
    In the plug-ins section of the Preferences, there is a check box for : Show all Filter Gallery Groups and Names. What does that do?
    Is there something I am missing that would allow me to add a dozen new textures and make them always accessible in the Texturizer plug-in?
    Thanks in advance,
    M. Jackson

    It enables/disables the showing of all filter gallery groups and names.
    Look at the Filter menu with the preference unticked. Then tick it and look at the Filter menu again - there will be more submenus of filters which are accessed through the Filter Gallery plug-in.

    Unfortunately, you're not missing anything that I know of. The majority of Photoshop's filters need an overhaul to bring them into the 21st century, but I guess that'll always be shoved to the bottom of the "to do" list until Adobe hires a significantly larger Photoshop software development team.
