TFTP Server on 10.4.7

I am trying to get the TFTP server to work on my new intel mac. It seems to be running, but whenever I try to put a file or get a file it returns Transfer timed out. Any clues?

Welcome to the Forum!
Not sure if TFTP is the standard (built-in) ftp server, but, when you go to System Preferences and select "Sharing", under the Services tab, is "FTP Accss" checked? I think that is the way you enable FTP. If you've done this, then you should be able to ftp to the machine from other machines in your local network. Do you ftp to an ip address? Can you give a bit of more information?
Thanks,
Alfredo

  • How to Setup Windows TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2

    Hi,
Can anyone please let me know, how to install TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2.
I installed Windows Deployment Service to get TFTP (got this info in some forum), but I did not see TFTP Service in the Service Manager.
I am a newbie so plz let me know the steps in details.
    Thanks in advance.

James, WDS ships with a TFTP server as part of the suite of services that are required to boot from the network. The information you've posted above is not correct.
    Hi Aaron,
Thanks for your clarification. Towards the WDS TFTP Server, we could find the following statement below:
You use the Windows Deployment Services Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server to download the files that are needed to do a network boot using the Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE).
    From:
    WDS TFTP Server
I understand that the we could select Deployment Server and Transport Server during the WDS setup processing. However, neoraghav would like to install TFTP server from the Server Manger towards the Windows Server 2008 R2. I noticed the statement as followed:
The TFTP client is optional software, and marked as deprecated on Windows Vista® and later versions of the Windows operating system. A TFTP server is no longer provided by Microsoft for similar security issues.
    From:
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) Overview
I should make my reply as clear as possible. Sorry for confusion. :-(

    thanks,

You want to send the logs to the Syslog server..right? Use the logging command to do it.
    logging x.x.x.x is the command.
Use the logging trap command to set the level of logging.
    Router(config)#logging trap ?

  • Change default block size on tftp server

Is there a way to change the default block size on the tftp server so that it defaults to 1024 instead of 512
I am aware that the client can accomplish this by:
    tftp> tsize
    tftp> blkzise 1024
but I don't want the client to have to enter these additional commands.

Were you ever able to get an answer on this? I have the same question.

  • Replacing a TFTP server in a cluster

Replacing a TFTP server in a cluster and with everything else being the same minus the MAC address on the NIC, are there any issues I could possibly run into here?
Thank you for the help the server is an MCS7845H2.

No issues, MAC address is irrelevant on TFTP as it only matters on the Pub, simply install CUCM on the new server assigning the same IP and hostname and then restore from backup.

  • Jabber-config.xml no longer UTF-8 after TFTP Server upload?

I have a good jabber-config.xml I edited in Notepad++ and saved (UTF-8) and I upload it to TFTP via CMPlatform on CCM 9.1.2.11900-12.  I've done this in the past a lot with 8.6.2, never had any issues.
    I then restart CUCM TFTP services and download;
    C:\>tftp 10.7.8.3 GET jabber-config.xml
    Transfer successful: 2390 bytes in 1 second(s), 2390 bytes/s
I then open up my downloaded jabber-config.xml in Notepad++ and it says the file format is UCS-2 Litle Indian and not UTF-8 and looks like the attached photo.  Greek.  I tried in Notepad++ to convert.
I then setup a different test PC with Windows XP, etc. Same issue, also note that plain notepad sees the same problem.   Why is the jabber-config.xml file getting corrupted by the TFTP server?

ChojinDSL wrote:Do you have a firewall running on that server?
Are your clients also using systemd?
Yes I do have a firewall, iptables, and it's the same configuration from before the migration to systemd.  Also note that I can access the shares when explicitly defining the path whether that's in a File Manager, cli or other so access isn't being blocked.  For lack of a better explanation the whole thing gives the appearance that although the Share is active it's just not broadcasting it's existence like it should be.
I have two PC's, both Arch, one with Openbox and one running KDE that I have migrated to systemd.  Both can access the Share when the path is explicitly defined but don't see it when trying to just browse for the the Share.  I have a Xoom tablet, running Android Jelly Bean, that exhibits the same behavior.  I also have two media players, one an older WD LiveTV Plus model the other a newer WD LiveTV model, neither of which can see the share and browsing is the only option for those devices.  So I've got a pretty good assortment of devices and operating systems that could see the share when browsing previously but can not see the same share by browsing since the migration to systemd on the file server.
    Thank you.

  • Add tftp server settings to dhcp

I have a cisco 3750g that I use to hand out DHCP addresses. I also have a pxe server I'd like to be able to use. How would I add the next-server and the pxelinux file to the dhcp?
    Thank you!

In your DHCP pool, you can define both the TFTP server and the boot file using the following format:
    ip dhcp pool DHCP_Pool_LAN
    next-server x.x.x.x
    bootfile pxelinux.0
Just replace x.x.x.x with the address of your TFTP server.

  • Copy all files in Flash to FTP or TFTP server

Is their a way to copy all the files at once in a router's flash to a FTP or TFTP server? Thanks.

No. On a switch you can create a tar file containing all the files and upload that one file but on routers you can only extract them. You will have to write some sort of wrapper with a chat script to do this. Sorry I don't have better news.

  • Cisco Prime TFTP Server Question

Our organization recently installed Cisco Prime 1.3 on a Linux box.  I am used to using the older WCS which also had a built in TFTP server.  The old WCS was installed on a Windows Box and thus I was able to navigate to the TFTP server using Windows Explorer and the UNC path.  However, I cannot seem to access the TFTP server on the new Prime 1.3 server via that method.  I have verified that the TFTP and FTP servers are both enabled in Prime server settings and I have also verified that I can access the FTP port via a PC on the network and that the WLCs on the network are sucessfully backing up to the Prime TFTP server each night.
How can I access the TFTP server to retrieve these WLC backups if needed?

you need to enable root access.  then you can scp the files out of the directory easily enough.
    from cli
    root_enable
    follow prompts
    root
    psswd - set password
should be abel to ssh as root at that point, if you can want to say it's /localdisk/tftp, or just ls /localdisk

  • How to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ?

how to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ? anyone knows?

    Hi,
    Please check the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmsys/cucm-accm-611/a02tftp.html#wp1023004
Understanding How Devices Access the TFTP Server
You can enable the IP phones and gateways to discover the TFTP server IP address in one or more of the following ways, depending on the device type:
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP custom option 150.
Cisco recommends this method. With this method, you configure the TFTP server IP address as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP option 066.
You may configure either the host name or IP address of the TFTP server as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can query CiscoCM1.
Ensure the Domain Name System (DNS) can resolve this name to the IP address of the TFTP server. Cisco does not recommend this option because it does not scale.
•You can configure phones with the IP address of the TFTP server. If DHCP is enabled on the phone, you can still configure an alternate TFTP server IP address locally on the phone that will override the TFTP address that was obtained through DHCP.
•Gateways and phones also accept the DHCP Optional Server Name (sname) parameter.
•The phone or gateway can use the value of Next-Server in the boot processes (siaddr).
Devices save the TFTP server address in nonvolatile memory. If one of the preceding methods was available at least once, but is not currently available, the device uses the address that is saved in memory.
You can configure the TFTP service on the first node or a subsequent node, but usually you should configure it on the first node. For small systems, the TFTP server can coexist with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager on the same server.

  • OSX Server DHCP Service - Support for tftp-server or bootp-server entries

We have a bunch of IP phones that get their initial setup from DHCP. On a Linux box, we can add the entries:
    option tftp-server-name
    or
    option boot-server
We do this to tell the phones where to download their settings/firmware from. Does OSX DHCP support this? If so, what entries do I have to put in NetInfo/config/dhcp to make this work??
    Thanks!

Personally I never got that dirty and fiddled aroung os x's bootpd but as you can read in its man page:
Regardless of whether bootpd knows the type of the option or not, you can always specify the DHCP option using the data
    property list type e.g.:
    <string>dhcpoption128</string>
    <data>
    AAqV1Tzo
    </data>
    that could be possible.
    see man bootpd

  • Xmodem I/O error when copy IOS from tftp server

After I formatted the flash I am trying to copy the IOS from tftp server using "copy xmodem: flash:c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin" command, in rommon mode. I am getting the I/O error message.
I did try to boot from tftp using the "set BOOT tftp:c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin" command and then "boot" command and I get an "error loading tftp:" and  "permission denied" message.
The tftp server is active; I did copy the old IOS before.

    CCCCCCCxmodem:: I/O error
    Help would be really apreciated.
    Thank you.
    Marius.

I am using Hyperterminal and a regular serial cable. Right now I am working on a 2950 Cisco Switch
At the switch: prompt, I typed:
    copy xmodem: flash:filename.bin    [ENTER]
As soon as you see CCCCC   in the terminal window.....
In Hyperterminal, from the tool bar, select Transfer -> Send File
Browse to the file, select Xmodem from the dropdown menu and select SEND
After the process has finished, type en and then boot flash:filename.bin
This will boot the .bin in your flash directory. The previous post only boots the switch that one time until it turns off. It does not put the image in the flash directory.
-->I dont know why it has to be done this way, but this was a bare to figure out. Nothing works like its suppose to though.
-This process will take a long time.  Couldnt get a faster speed then 9600
