Thai Language on Playbook

Hello
I am Thai and I like to read Thai Newspapers on my Laptop whilst I am in England. I bought a Blackberry Playbook to enable me to keep up with the Thai news whilst I am on the go.
In the Thai alphabet -- most of the vowels are written above a consonant, however the Thai script as shown on my Blackberry playbook does not reproduce the vowels in the texts presented -- and the whole script is therefore unreadable -- although in the same web-page on my windows laptop all of the vowels  are reproduced perfectly!
Can anyone help, I have tried opening the newspapers using different browsers but the omission is the same in all of them
Thanks in advance
Chittra

I doubt it, but have a look here (they used to have a hack for this):

Also try searching with google for thai ipod.

  • My playbook don't have thai keyboard and thai language.

please update thai language and thai keyboard to my playbook. i'm so sad and unhappy. many people in thailand wating for you.please update thai language now. thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

None of the languages seem to work at this point, they just change the name on the enter button. With keyboard space at a premium having a language change button on the main board seems quite silly. IMO it should be put in options/language. And on a side note I would really like to see the apostrophe on the main board... I find myself not using conjunctives just so I do not have to go to the symbol screen.
I really hope the feb update fixes some of this, I know the keyboard has been updated

  • Thai keyboard in playbook!!!

  • I want to convert the day into THAI language

    Hi All,
I write a simple query using date conversion for THAI language. But the NLS_CALENDAR does not convert the DAY to Thai language but month and year shows in THAI only
Please give the date format for THAI language.
    Query
    select
    DECODE (:p_language_id,
                   'th', TO_CHAR (sysdate,
                                  'DAY MONTH YYYY',
                                  'NLS_CALENDAR=''THAI BUDDHA'''
TO_CHAR (sysdate, 'Day MONTHYYYY') ) dates from dual
    Output:
    FRIDAY    สิงหาคม    2556

    Try this
    alter session set nls_language = 'THAI';
    select to_char (sysdate,'DAY MONTH YYYY')
      from dual;
    NLS_LANGUAGE
Edit.. Perhaps NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE is much suited for your requirement. Check Hoek's solution.

  • Which Language version of Indesign CC supports Thai language?

    Greetings,
I'm trying to troubleshoot floating vowel characters in our selected font (Sukhumvit) in Indesign CC, and can't find which version I should be using to be able to mark my text as thai language. I can of course download any version, but right now am in the English/arabic version.
The troubleshooting involves what can and can't be done in terms of tracking and kerning, and I'm helping to author guidelines for Thai usage for this font for global use.
I'm running a Mac Pro (not the cool new one, yet) Mavericks 10.9.1 and using the most recent update for Indesign
    Please help?
    Thanks
    Mo

I thought that Sukhumvit was a Mac system font, but I was of course completely wrong. Turns out it's an iOS system font, so I couldn't do any testing at all. I assume that you purchased the font directly from Cadson Demak, and I'd take my questions directly to them. It's probably a font build issue.
If I were using a font where I knew the foundry wouldn't listen to my concerns, I might write a fistful of GREP styles that would remove tracking from the floating vowels. Or I might use Peter Kahrel's kerning table script. It's brilliant.
But the most important bit is this: I would also write my style guide so that tracking wasn't indiscriminately applied to all writing systems. That strikes me as a no-brainer. Perhaps your default Latin-script font needs some brathing room at body text sizes in the language(s) you read, and the easiest way to get said breathing room in your workflow is to use tracking instead of a different font or careful kerning. but once again I'd rather use the kerning table script than just track everything willy-nilly.
That being said, It's likely that I'll have to recommend that no tracking or kerning be used with this language. Our creatives won't like that at all, as they like to be able to control every facet.
If your creatives can't read Thai then they should absolutely have that control taken away from them. I'm a localization wonk, not a "creative" so perhaps I'm judging a bit harshly, but if they want to "control every facet" then they'd best understand exactly how Thai is supposed to look - an understanding best achieved by literacy.

  • Arabic language for PlayBook os 2

I'm from egypt and i use Arabic language and i heard that there are Arabic language for PlayBook but i can't git or fiend it
Please help me to install Arabic language for my PlayBook
    Thank you

    Dear Sir or Madam
I recently bought one of your products, the Blackberry Playbook. It is a great tablet and powerful. I speak English but my mother tongue is Arabic. Because I had a Blackberry phone and the Arabic language is fully supported in all blackberry phones so I thought that there will be no problem with the Playbook regarding Arabic language support.
However, unfortunately, my guess was wrong. The tablet does not support Arabic language. When using the bridge feature the Arabic letters are displayed unconnected and in the wrong direction (from the left to right instead from right to left).
This makes the Playbook useless for me in many situations, for example when presenting documents for conference.
I am writing to you to know if there is a fix for this or if you are updating the language support for the playbook in short coming time.
Please do not use the word soon, as this word lost its meaning when Google abused its use. The life of an electronic gadget is very short these days, so the full support should be available for the user to benefit from the gadget.
In addition, Blackberry phones are very popular in the Middle East and many people, which I know, said to me they will never buy the Playbook if there is no Arabic language support, (I discovered this after I bought the playbook).
If you are aiming high and looking to compete with the leading producer in the tablet market, then just look at how it is easy to change the interface language in the Apple iPad.

    Satya vani

    Hi Satya,
Have you checked if Thai Language is installed completely on the PC you are working.
If not it can be done from Control Panel --> Regional and Language Options. Here check with Regional Options and Advanced Tabs whether Thai has been installed.
One more thing which you can try/see if it is done or not is on any SAP screen on the top right icon see whether everthing has been set properly in Options (I18N)...
    Thanks & Regards,
    YJR.

    Hi Devendra Singh,
I think it's not possible to show all field values in another Language (Eg Thai) But it's possible if it's short Text, Long Text etc
    SE63 and follow menu
    Translation
    ABAP Objects
Short Text / Long Text Etc..
    AND
    Translation
    NON ABAP Objects
For that also you have to maintain it first in SE63..

  • Thai Language Support

Just got my 8900 and wondering how to make it readable on Thai language? My firmware is 4.6.1.94 (platform 4.2.0.69). Scanned through the forums and found the way to make bold read/type Thai, not sure whether I can apply the same process to 8900. Please help.. Many thanks!!

I think is too early to obtain a thai version, you need update the software with a multilingual version but like the 8900 is new, i don't think you have yet.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Thai language support on Safari 3 beta

I just try Safari 3 beta for Windows. Its speed is impressed so far but big problem with Thai language.
    - Thai word break is OK.
    - Thai Tonal Marks and Vowels which display on the top of normal Thai character are still incorrect. They float improperly.
    - Text smoothing is not so impressed when display Thai language.
    Hope to see improvements.

Good to know. Arabic does not work properly either. And if one uses a Japanese system no Japanese text is visible.
I think Apple simply has left any support for foreign (non-English/non-European) languages beyond very basic unicode out of the first beta.

Thanks a lot for your reply Frank. I seached on the Net for the solution and found that if we use UTF8 in NLS_LANG registry entry we can solve the problem but our database should support the character set.
Thanks a lot for ur kind Help.
