After FOUR hours of investigating; three LONG Apple phone calls, hundreds of tries, and one unreturned promise of a returned call ... I came here to find my answer ... AND I FOUND it with YOU PEOPLE!!!!!! THANK God that one of the closed threads addressed the Mac Firewall!!!! The ONLY way for the remote disk/Networking to work is you must "allow for incoming connections!!!!!!!" <<< In your system preferences, and security (the Mac firewall)!!!!!!

I got my remote disk to work yesterday. Took me a second to figure it out before I went into program files to where I installed the disk and had to manually turn on "allow incoming connections" but I got it. Glad you did too

How can i allow multiple incoming connections on my windows 8 vpn server?

Hi eveyone,
Im trying to find out how to allow more than 1 incoming VPN connection into my windows 8.1 PC and no clue how to do it without openVPN or other programs (which i have no clue how to set up either)
Im starting to use my home NAS for work where I store everything on it so when ever I go to a job I can either access it or save a new file to it. The problem is my wife also wants to use it and I dont want to not be allowed to connect when I need to or
not allow her to connect.
Is there any way I can allow 2+ incoming connections on my home PC without getting a seperate software?
If the only option is getting a seperate program can anyone provide something that I can settup to my home router so I can access the NAS by the private IP?

Allow all incoming connections - will not stick for several apps

I have several apps that continue to ask me on each launch whether to allow or deny incoming connections. I've gone to the firewall pane and removed them from the list of allowed apps and added them back in both manually and using the "automatically add", with no change.
I've done a search through the forums and googled it, and the solutions always seem to be for a specific app like iTunes or iChat. In my case there are three apps for sure that ask every time and the recommended fixes for this aren't really my best options.
Pro Tools (This only started when I upgraded from 10.2 to 10.3, and the usual fix method of deleting the app as suggested for iTunes will be a real hassle for this) There are too many components for me to take out and have a real go at re-installing.

This is definitely an annoying bug that should not be happening if I manually remove the apps for the allowed list and then allow them again freshly.
Does anyone know of any way to clear this up that doesn't involve deleting apps and re-installing? That would be a huge hassle and I can't take the time for that for several weeks.

i have somehow kind of the same issue.
installed a drobo dashboard update and since then the firewall messages pop up for half a secound and disappear again in a frequenz of around 10sec.
it is impossible to hit allow, so they come back.
also tried to add the app to the firewall list & one service of it, but no success.
messages come back.
do you have any idea where is is coming from?

Easy for you but hard for me

I am sure this will be a simple issue for you, but I am not an experienced Oracle person. I run SQL reports from an Oracle database every night for work. Now my bosses have put a large LCD monitor on the production floor and want the data from the Oracle DB to be shown on the monitor. They would like it presented in easy to read graphs or something that can be understood by a non technical person. The data must update around every 15 minutes. As I said, I have the SQL scripts already and I am wondering if there is an application I can use to do this sort of thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Java allow/deny incoming connections

I have just downloaded the latest software update. Java and Safari.
After rebooting I get a dialog box appear for a fraction of a second, repeating about every 10 to 20 seconds.
The box says Allow Java to accept incoming connections. Then a clickabe Deny Allow.
As it only appears for a fraction of a second I cannot click on either button.
I tried turning off Java but that did not work.
In the Activity monitor Java appears for a fraction of a second then disappears.

Update.
I chcked the Verify Disk and it returned aa unable to Repair.
I booted from the DVD and successfully repaird the disk. (SSD.)
It had no affect.
I ran Repair Disk Permissions, but also no affect on the Allow/Deny.
I ran the Repair Disk Permissions again and the same list of Permissions Differ / Repaired appears. I tested this several times and the list is always the same, even though the list indicates the Permission have been Repaired.
If I turn off the Firewall, in System Preferences, the Allow/Deny dialog box goes away.
Looking at the Activity Monitor it would seem that Java tries to start then crashes, then tries to start again.
If you look at the Repair Permissions list there are some clues regarding various Java compenents.
Java Preferences in the Firewall/Advanced is set to Allow.
Any thoughts?

External Monitoring...how is it for you and what for the future (CS5)

With the prospect of CS5 on the horizon and many of us considering it as the opportunity to up spec O.S,, software and hardware simultaneously (largely due to 64-bit)...I am wondering how everyone is getting on with their external monitoring solutions and what the expectation is for CS5.
In my opinion the way it is now (in CS4) is less than professional and needs sorting out (hopefully in CS5).
Issues are : Video / audio / synching internal and external devices so all play together.
Premiere Pro runs two playback / preview systems : One for scrubbing and source monitoring; the other for Program playback /preview.
(Example : Observe how and when audio plays through the audio mixer or observe what and when video plays through external or internal monitor...then note what happens when you PUSH PLAY - spacebar)
Without repeating the problems in depth, I would like to say how I wish it worked for me as an editor in a Pro environment with clients that sit in my suite as we work together.
I have a two monitor NLE set up plus one external for client viewing (and also for grading /CC).
I need the External Monitor (Video & Audio) and the Internal Monitor (Video and Audio) to playdown together. I dont want one to stop and the other to function.
I want them both working simultaneously playing video and audio. Am I supposed to get out of my chair to wander over to the client monitor to see the changes we just discussed then I actioned in the timeline? !!!!!!
A feature request : I would also like to be able to access the Playback Monitoring via Shortcut keys or On Screen buttons. It is very handy to be able to playback on the second monitor but it should be defaulted at 100% (Not Fit - as per the Program Monitor)
As regards HD. One should not have to install 3rd Party cards to monitor HD externally. The problem with that is one then needs to use the Presets from that card manufacturer. The Presets , eg P2 work so well in PPRO...so why do we need to mess with 3rd party drivers just to monitor.

I just like to let people know where is the origin of that shortcut (in previous CS editions it was in PROJECTS menu bar tab, and since CS4 it is in SEQUENCE menu bar tab....
I was trying to figure out what do you thing my "atom like button" )))
Finally figured out that it is the RGB icon (which is more the molecule then atom), but you gave me a hard time looking for atom!!! I thought it is in 3rd place, somewhere, as well - but "Atom" almost remained misteri
Anyway, interestingly enough, I just succeeded in getting my picture out on EXTERNAL CRT monitor through DV-monitoring in playback settings - FireWire through my scope (deck) and to TV....
And picture appeared.... But stood still.... Wouldn't move.... except when scrubbing... But when press PLAY it froze both on external DV monitor and PPRO program monitor in software!!!
Maybe it is my old ATI 3850 HD VGA - and maybe it just can't work!!!!
This pisses me off a bit!!!
I have unpacked copy of new AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 5 - which I have decided not to install until I am through with searching all new possibilities in CS5....
But now, I feel more and more like opening and installing it ----- Just to see how is it managed there!!!
It is hard for me ---- even to think to leave ADOBE ------ it is already enough that 80% of my Clients first ask me "DO YOU HAVE AVID".... and then, to half of them I somehow explain that it is gonna be better if we give ADOBE a chance, and the other half is just hard on their flexibility --- they've heard everything in Hollywood is edited in AVID, so they want their project to be the same....
And I was having a real hard time defending PPRO for years, preventing my Clients to make me switch to AVID - and look what ADOBE did to me now - ADOBE made me reach for my AVID MC v5 and install it and have it ready to take over any project, including the one I am working on right now!

WiFi work well for you? Not for me...

My iPod Touch's Wi-Fi has never seemed very effective from day one on my home network or when roaming. Does it work better for others?
1st: My home network uses a D-Link wi-fi 802.11G router, with three computers attached (one iMac, one Dell laptop and one no-name PC). I'm on a different channel than my neighbours. Using a WEP key. v1.1.3 on the Touch.
Here's what I get...: Even sitting right next to my wireless router, most pages I try to load in Safari time out. It only seems to work normally with loading a page that has one picture and no text. I can get the Google home page pretty reliably, maybe in 5 seconds or so.
For many sites, I have to stop it and re-load 15-20 times and maybe... a page will then suddenly load. Many never do. Some pages work better like the Google page - but I don't see the pattern on when.
I've tried using the browser on other networks in public places and I get the same results.
I also just bought the upgrade, but the stock app times out (only ever worked once), the maps loaded eventually, I got 34 of my several hundred e-mails to load, YouTube app works more reliably than safari, the iTunes one never has, weather times out.
I'm going to get TimeCapsule when it comes out, and I have the (likely false) hope that using its Airport Extreme router will improve things and my Touch will work better. Is there something else I might be missing?

I had this exact web page loading oddity after I upgraded to 1.1.3
it had worked just fine from Xmas to the upgrade
apple tech support couldnt help at all except to suggest the obvious which was to try I different wifi network
I did and it worked
so it seemed something was now incompatible with my 5+ yr old linksys 55ag router
so I decided to for 50$ try a new router
I bought a linksys 54 g router and now it works
the mystery as to Why still bugs me
apple can't/won't say why or how 1.1.3 could have been responsible
anyway I'm working now and its probably better with a new router I guess
othrs seem to be having similar issues but nothing difinitve

Block one time vendors for PO but allow for RFQ

Hi Gurus,
I want to use One time vendor records only for RFQ creation;but it should not be possible to create PO using those one time vendors.
In case of regular vendors for RM/PM, quality info records in purchasing is active. But this is not the case of indirect purchases.
Please help.

Hi,
In XK05 transaction u have the option to block vendor for different application.
U can block for Purchase order.
Check in XK05 and block appropriately and check running the scenarios.

The only way for you to allow others to access iCloud documents at the moment is by trusting your Apple ID log in and password - NOT good for security as they would also have access to your e-mail/notes/calendar/address book and reminders !
With this information others could log in at this web address in just about any browser ,
click on the iWork button, select the app Notes/Pages/Keynote

Mouce over the document you want to download and a choice of PDF/Word (.doc) or native iWork formats can be made.Just click the download button
To upload simply drag and drop a document from Finder/Windows explorer or the desktop onto the browser window !
The missing function however is there is NO ONLINE editing !
Now if Apple would incorporate an invite and e-mail address system similar to dropbox they that would solve the security issue I think.

Does Photos for OS X allow duplicate photo uploads to Flickr? It used to check in iPhoto.

In iPhoto, if I uploaded a photo to Flickr, it wouldn't upload duplicates.
When I upload with Photos it will allow duplicate uploads. Is this a bug?

To date I have not found a solution. If I do I will update. Folks are trying to help though. I am trying these items from another thread this weekend. The first one seems to have helped a bit. I will update if I find something that works.
Here are the items I am trying (from Old Toad on this post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7001536)
I you have iPhoto 9.6.1 or can download it from then App Store I suggest you do the following before converting the library to Photos.
1 - launch iPhoto with the Option+Command keys held down and run the following First Aid routines:
     a. Option #1, Repair Library Permissions
     b. Option #2, Rebuild Thumbnails
     c. Option #4, Rebuild Database
This will "clean" up the library to help insure a good conversion. It might take a while to do those three routines but a clean conversion will make things go much better later on.

System asking for permission for incoming connections

When I restart my computer I get messages that ask if I want to allow incoming connections to programs such as qmaster and realplayer. I allow this. The message also says that I can change this in the firewall pane in system preferences. When I go there I see that both already allow incoming connections.
Why is the system asking me each time when I've already said that it is allowed?

I had the same problem for iTunes, Connect360 and Transmission. After reading many forum post and trying many things to no end this is what worked for me.
NOTE THIS WORKED FOR ME, IT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU, DON'T BLAME ME.
1. Log into an Admin account
2. Go to the Firewall under the Security Pane in System Preferences and remove ALL programs listed under "Set access for specific services and applications." (you can try removing just the troublesome apps)
3. Still in the Firewall tab, change setting to "Allow all incoming connections."
4. In the Finder go to your Applications Folder and drag iTunes (or any other offending apps) to the trash and delete from the dock. *This SHOULD NOT delete your music, playlists, ratings or anything else, it did not on mine. But BACKUP if you want to be 100% sure*
5. In the System Preferences, go to Accounts > Login Items and remove ItunesHelper.
6. Restart your mac and log in as the Admin again.
7. Download any apps you deleted, i.e. iTunes. Link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
8. Install the apps (don't open them after install)
9. Go back into the firewall settings and change it back to "Set access for specific services and applications."
10. Open iTunes and any other apps you reinstalled.
11. Add iTunes back to the Dock.
This should have fixed the problem, and iTunes should act like nothing ever happened...
We still need to add iTunesHelper back to the Login Items.
12. In the finder go to Applications, and right-click on iTunes, select "Show Package Contents.
13.Open the System Preferences and go to Login Items under Accounts.
14. Back in the finder (the iTunes Package Contents) go to Contents>Resources>iTunesHelper
15. Drag iTunesHelper into the Login Items list.
This worked for me. I don't think it ever asked for permission for iTunes. And I have only been asked once for the other programs that used to ask me everytime.
