Thank you Adobe Staff

I attempt to answer questions on Bridge in this Forum, but many of the ones regarding CS5 problems are way over my head.  So just wanted to say thank you for visiting this Forum and assisting on the sticky problems.  Hope you folks continue to hang around.

I would like to echo Curt's comment.  It's good to know we can get advice and info from the mountain top!

  • Thank you Adobe for Lightroom 4

Rarely do I take the time to comment on forums unless I have an issue, but I have to just say that Adobe made my day when I discovered the availability of Lightroom 4 (I've been a longtime user), purchased it, installed it (easily) and found to my delight the video support particularly for mts files.  I had been unable to find a suitable cataloging program for mts files and was had to resort to Picasa.  So thank you Adobe!

Indeed Lr4/PV2012 rocks! (for the vast majority of my photos).
It really is a pleasure to be able to edit tone without having to worry about stuff like:
    - Be careful brightening or it'll get washed out.
    - Be careful increasing contrast or highlights will lose detail.
    - Be careful increasing fill-light or the colors will go wonky...
Make it as bright or as dim as you want, where you want - PV2012 has your back...

  • Thank You Adobe for Fixing Bridge

Wow, that was a very long. painful and frustrating wait to get a version of Bridge that works again. Bridge CS3 was the worst piece of Adobe software that I have used since 94 or 95, Bridge CS4 now actually works again, hooray! Thank you Adobe!
    mark

    >Don't be absurd, Omke. It's not a free fix for CS3 users. Bridge 2.x was horribly broken and it should have been fixed for free, period.
Well Ramón, I put a smiley in that post...
But serious, I also (as you have done before) have written many times that Bridge was a free application that came with PSCS. Personal I did not have that horrible experience with it that you had. Yes, there were troubles every now and then but I solved them with the cache, plist and refresh method I often described.
I do suspect that the fact that I work on an intel Mac has also something to do with that. However, my experience with Bridge 3 is very positive and a massive improvement compared to Bridge 2.
Yes it would be nice if there had been an update but they have chosen to put al their effort in a new Bridge with some very nice improvements added to the interface (pathbar and better visible menu's to mention a view) and a much better (but not the best) cache management.
Together with Leopard 10.5.5 and CS4 I fully agree with Ann. The improvement of Bridge is (although it comes again for free with PS... :-) ) alone reason enough to upgrade.
    kind regards
    Omke

  • Thank you, Adobe for the enhanced actions editor (Was: Thank you, Adobe)

Just want to thank you for the Enhanced Actions Editor... fantastic!
Months ago, I had requested to have something similar that Flash Catalyst had, and you delivered.

    Hi Eddie,
On behalf of the product team and Adobe, I thank you for sharing your feedback on the new feature. We are glad that you liked it and we are hoping that it will be as useful to our other users too.
    Have a nice day!
    Thanks,

  • Thank You Adobe and Lightroom Team!

I just wanted to publicly thank Adobe and the Lightroom Team. I appreciate all of your hard work over the last year or more. Lightroom is a great program (even if there are bugs and issues that we all complain about on here). I love it.
I also wanted to thank you for the offer that was extended to the Pixmantec Rawshooter Premium customers. I was sorely disappointed to hear that Pixmantec had been bought by Adobe. But now that I've used Lightroom, I am pleased and very thankful for the goodwill and hospitality that was ushered forth to us. I look forward to using Lightroom (and updated versions of it) for many years to come! Thank you again for taking care of your customers and making new ones!
    Thank you,
    Jonah Garoutte

I use the free versions of picmnatic for about a year when LRbeta came out.
    WOW!
Being ever fearfull of Betas I tiptoed into the fray.
    WOW!
Great beta, and now I am looking forward to finally loading LR.1
    I am a happy camper.
I can use LR on a very simple level: Choosing, cropping, color, contacts and web gallery.
OR really MONK it and fill out ALL database infow on each choice starting with the copyright symbol to INFINITY!!
I can definatly grow with LR the same way I am with PhotoShop CS2.
    Thanks Adobe,
    Yours,

  • THANK YOU ADOBE!

I'm so EXCITED! But, being 3:49 on a Friday, none of the other girls in the art department are quite as excited as I am! In Adobe Illustrator, Thank you for a shortcut key to PLACE an image AND PLACE MORE THAN 1 image at a time! woohoo!
PS I LOVE the new pen tool also!

In my opinion the "Undocumented" interfaces in the boss class reference could be explained better. Like this one (one of many many many):
    IBoolData IID_IBOOLDATA
    Undocumented.
    Implementation: kBoolDataImpl
Available in: InDesign InCopy InDesign Server Class from:"DOCUMENT ACTIONS.RPLN"
I guess here the tool is useless, right.
Havent tried it yet, but I dont see too much advantage in it. I have been with InDesign API since 2004 and the normal way how to implement a new simple fuctionality is to know the exact name of a boss or command or interface so it is 9 parts of searching in all the documentation to 1 part of coding. The object model is over-complicated in my opinion - the question is why?

  • Thank you Adobe........NOT

I personally wish to thank everyone at Adobe and especially the Board of fools. I appreciate you forcing me to use Windows Vista, and a product that is severely inferior to the original Macintosh product of FrameMaker. I especially appreciate that most of the features in Windows aren't even available in the "new" version. I like that I can not use all those nifty shortcuts that I spent years learning to make my job easier. Apparently Windows users are too dumb to use shortcuts? That must be your logic. Yes the new features are great, were you trying to increase job security by making us work longer on what is simple in the Mac version? Well, again, I thank you that I will be going back to my old "non-Intel" based Mac, running Classic, and will continue to use FrameMaker 7 for Mac and will not be using my copy of FrameMaker 8 as it is going in the trash. I refuse to work with a product that doesn't even have the same features. FrameMaker for windows is more of a Downgrade for me so for now I file it in the trash next to what I think of your intelligent developers and business practices. Fix this.

Charles,<br /><br />A shortcut is a shortcut. What is so "unreal" about any keystroke<br />combination that does what you require?<br /><br />You currently already have (and always have had) the ability to modify<br />any keystroke combination in FM to whatever you want. <br /><br />Every FM keystroke combination is defined in the cmds.cfg file located<br />in the \fminit\configui folder. The wincmds.cfg file (in the same<br />folder) contains the Windows specific customizations for the<br />established keystroke functions. <br /><br />For example, if you wish to modify the command to view Master Pages to<br />ctrl+alt M (note that is the same number of keystrokes as esc v M,<br />which was originally defined in first version of FM on unix some twenty years ago - before there ever was a Mac or Windows version) you would simply insert or modify the following line in the wincmds.cfg file :<br /><br /> <Modify ViewMasterPages <KeySequence ^~+m>><br /><br />This has always been documented in the online manuals<br />Customizing_Frame_Products.pdf file (see the section titled "Changing<br />Menus and Commands").

  • Thank you adobe, CC Storage is getting there

Hi CC Storage Team, I have been complaining about cloud storage for a while. But latest update as of a about a month ago has fixed most of the pressing issues with CC storage which is great. There will obviously still be things that need work but storage is becoming a viable option. I have not seen any sync issues, no error popups with temp files and no conflicted files which is all great.
The only issue I have a had on the odd occasion is locked files this seems to happen where a files says it is synced but the files remains locked and cannot be over written or delete etc. Only a restart will unlock the file. windows 8.1.
Once again thank you for all the work on storage and than you for listening to us.

    Hi Dave
I think I have a fix for this issue. Upgrade too CC 2014 for indesign anyway which is where I saw the problem. I have just upgraded to indesign 2014 and the issue seems to be fixed, I still get the error about file in use. but this is my slow connection speed. If I wait for a bit then try again it works as soon as the file is finished what is was doing. It no longer stays locked.
With most of the bugs fixed, now all we need is more space.
Thanks for all the good update to storage.
    Cheers Daniel

  • Thank you Adobe for being better than useless at solving my SD 16:9 PAR Problem

I have read everything on these forums about the new PAR for SD 16:9 which is now 1050 x 576.  I have finally got a project for broadcast on SKY and guess what I can't even get a video cleared on Clearcast because it won't accept the new PAR, their server throws up an inccorect PAR error saying my video is 1:1.85 which is incorrect for their purposes.  I explained the logic to various technical guys there and they understand but don't care, they want an anamorphic SD 16:9 video that scales to 1024 x 576.  I've tried everything and have had to resort to either sending it to a post production facility and being charged not only for the rough cuts I send to Clearcast but also the final versions to Adcast for final approval for SKY or buying Sorenson Squeeze.  Premiere is useless for both purposes because they are sticking to 1050 x 576 PAR for SD 16:9. Before you try to explain that this is correct, I already know, but that isn't helping solve my problem.  This is SKY we are talking about, one of the major broadcasters and Premiere has failed to deliver.  This is going to cost me £300 - 500 to sort out.  I've used Premiere for must be getting on for 10 years, people have been complaining about this problem for ages and there are work arounds but none of them solve the final export PAR.  If I buy Sorenson, I think I might go to FCP or Avid for the first time in 10 years of editing; I finally get a broadcast job and Premiere fails me, thanks a bunch Adobe, all you have to do is offer the ability to do this whether it is right or wrong and you can't deliver on it, just take a look at your forums and you will see that this is a recurring problem, why the hell haven't you sorted it out.
If I have to pay £500 plus for Sorenson just to encode SD video I'm damn sure I'm not going to upgrade to CC on principle, time to jump ship I think, Adobe have obviously reached that size that all companies reach where they no longer care about the small guy trying to do his job.

Before you try to explain that this is correct
I'm not sure it is correct.  On the NTSC side, it's definitely not correct.  Adobe switched to the PAR used by the BBC, but those values were designed for use with the 702 pixel Clean Aperture.  That's fine with analog material, but it actually works out to be incorrect for digital signals using the full 720 raster.  This is why we get very small black bars on the sides when downscaling HD to SD, even though the SAR is identical for both.
Rather than use the correct values, Adobe switched to the incorrect values used by much of the world.
Except SKY, it would seem.  But that does mean you will have to follow the instructions provided by both Jeff and Mark in the original thread.

  • Thank You Adobe Engineers

I for one appreciate the recent involvement with Adobe Engineers commenting on problems raised in this forum. You occasionally have been present before, but without the identifier many of us did not recognize that fact.
Your presence adds a sense of hope that problems discussed here will be addressed, and the knowledge you can offer is significant. Excellent PR.
TO FORUM USERS - please treat the Adobe engineers with respect. If you "yell" at them and accuse them as being personally responsible for not fixing the problems, then they may leave. Many problems are simple, or redundant week after week, so forum users please keep up the comments and don't expect the engineers to answer every question.
We all try to do the best we can to solve problems, but these programs are complex, and everyone has a different mix of hardware and software, so some solutions are not easy. And what works for one may not work for everyone.

So, any chance of a bugfix in future updates? (rather than "updates" that trigger again and again the same issue?)
Here has come a new minor (security) update v11.0.2, which indeed still hijacks/breaks the indexing function. Reverting via the provided registry "fix" (actually a quick hack to compensate - but too late - for the laziness of Adobe's staff) implies a new reindexing of all PDF files (~24 hours for several dozens GB, and a substantial drain of CPU power. Hopefully energy is free nowadays).
I bet the solution is to politely decline any future update of Acrobat, security or not, if they bring nothing but a P.I.T.A. Until the company eventually decides to fix the flaw - if human lifespan allows.
(... Oh and absolutely no feedback from the so-called developers, despite a bug report a bunch of months ago.)
Funny how I've seen much more dedicated and competent support from software companies with 10x less staff and financial resource.

  • Thank You Adobe for Killing Freehand

Well Adobe you've done it...finally kiling the only
competition you had in Aldus Freehand. Yeah, Yeah, whatever
Crackromedia. Let's kill the only program that actually does things
easier and better than the postscipt gods can do it. Yes, I know
you invented the PS language, thanks for that. But....Frustrator is
kinda sickening to try to use. Instead of a few clicks, let's make
the user do 10 clicks! What a concept. If I hear "Oh, but
Illustrator users use alot more keyboard commands than the average
user, I'm gonnaPUKE!" Ok, I have to rant here. I will use FH until
they pry it from my cold dead fingers...

    > I have never seen Illustrator (used FH since the Aldus
    days), but from
    > the
    > comments here I am guessing they are not an easy
    exchange. Yes? No?
    > Adobe DID
    > say Illustrator will open FreeHand files, so at least
    there is that.
To be pragmatic, consider FH completely and utterly dead.
It's been buggy since version 8, IMHO and has just gotten
    flakier as the
OSes and Hardware has been updated while FH has just sat
    there.
I love FH. I'll keep using it, but if I were getting back
    into professional
print design (I do mainly web stuff) I'd be hunkering down
    and using AI for
clients, while trying out every possible open source and
    commercial
    alternative in the meantime. ;o)

  • AIR 3.5 - Thank You Adobe!

Often we post complaining about something... this one it to commend Adobe on a speedy fix!  AIR 3.5 SDK has fixed ALL my GPU issues!  I'm actually seeing even better performance now too! Thanks Adobe!

    Bump.
I also think it's about time AIR included a more up-to-date version of Webkit. Is this on the roadmap at all?
    Thanks,

  • AE crashed and locked me out of my project - THANK YOU ADOBE

I was using dynamic link at the time, not sure if that had anything to do with it but i guess when you try to make two flaky programs work together this sort of thing is bound to happen. Well, time to start from scratch.Hey, now theres a product suggestion todd, you think if i suggest "rewrite all of adobes software from scratch, but this time using competent programmers" that they'll go for it? How many millions of dollars did adobe dump into the development/hostiletakeover of AE's code anyways?

I suggest you pull yourself together and stop running off with your mouth. So far each and every posting of yours has been on the edge of a rant or been one right away. Given, that you admitted yourself to be using the program for only for a short while, I find that more than odd that you blame specific tools and features, when your inexperience is just as much part of the problem. This strikes me as yet another one of these cases. Now it's impossible to even see what's going on, since you don't bother to provide any info about your system, what footages you used, what your steps were when initiating the DL connection etc.., which is another of those things... I know losing work sucks, but it happens and that's why people use  versions and backups and that - once more - is fully in your hands. I will quietly bow out of this thread before this turns into yet another of those furball threads I'm so tired off, but maybe someone here might find it in his heart to still help you, regardless of your rude and insulting behavior...

    Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
    Please check the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......
