Thank You Lenovo!

A big thanks goes out to Lenovo.
Thank you for selling me a defective A730 for $1,500.00.
Thank you for first making me factory reset it to no avail.
Thank you for sending out the technician that replaced the hard drive and left, leaving me to install the recovery disks for 4 and a half hours and then updating 93 Windows 8 updates, drivers, software, virus protection, etc, etc.
Thanks for when the computer restarted it's now missing drivers, missing software that originally came with it and having the same exact issue as when I called the day I took it out of the box.
Thanks for your tech team telling me I have to actually re-install the recovery disks, AGAIN!
Thanks for making me wait 3 business days to actually get anything initiated with your group.  IE; three days for the local tech to call me, 3 more days for the disks to arrive and now 3 more business days to have someone from higher up even look at my case number so you can call me back and tell me "I" have to sit there and re-install the recovery disks just to get my 4 month old machine up and running again.
Thanks for not offering me a replacement.
Thanks for not offering me reimbursement.
Thanks for gladly accepting my $1,500.00 and in return giving me a computer that never worked correctly, doesn't work now and have zero chance of every recovering my data lost, my time lost and all the aggravation and frustration.
Thanks for giving me the hope that maybe $1,500.00 to spend on a computer would actually give me reliability and the sense that I made a wise choice.
Thanks for selling me the most expensive machine I ever bought and in returned got one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any company I've ever dealt with.
Thank you for all of this.  You should all be so proud.

Hi jcl6543,
Right off the bat, I want to tell you that I do not work for Lenovo, and I'm only responding because I had that "Windows Provider" problem you listed in your other post, on my A520. Is this the same problem you are encountering again now, or do you have some other hardware issue?
First, you mention that your "solution center says there's an issue with the Windows Location Provider on my IdeaCentre A730 All in One" Is this link the "Solution Center" you are talking about?
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?LegacyDocID=LENV-DIAGS
If it is, please note that the Solution Center is not supported for your A730. I've tried to get it working on my A520, and failed. Well..., it may work for a few days, then crash after some Lenovo update. All in all, you shouldn't put any faith in what the solution center is telling you. It will drive you crazy, as it was not meant to be used on our All-In-Ones.
As far as the Windows Location Provider error, have a look at the MS answer site: (Read all 3 pages)
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/windows-location-provider-not-w...
This is how I fixed my error. IIRC this driver is not a Windows driver. It "should" be provided by Lenovo in their driver package. I think after I deleted the driver, it was reinstalled from one of the Lenovo Dependency updates. So make sure you have an Internet connection during the reboot, and you have the update enabled. The last Dependency update was::
Dependency Package Update. Product Version: 1.6.25.00. Product Language: 1033
Once again, I'm only trying to help you out. I think that everyone who makes an investment of 1.5K for a computer expects their machine to work "out of the box" flawlessly!
Cheers
DragonRider

  • Thank you Lenovo | Open Letter to Lenovo Users & Tech Support

A few weeks ago I saw the Lenovo K430 on NewEgg while shopping for a new Desktop. I was amazed by the K430’s features and great looks. However, after doing some research I became very baffled about the Power Turbo Switch and the many horror stories about upgrading the graphics card.
I called Lenovo Technical Support to talk about possibilities and get advice about the graphics card, a woman answered the phone and informed me she had no idea or information about graphics card; but she recommended I speak to Sales. I was transferred to sales and they too informed me that they knew nothing about the computer or graphics card.
I decided to call B&H Photo, the name sounds deceiving but they really are the best with support. The Technical Support told me if I really wanted a great computer I should think about building my own.
So today, I embarked on the journey to build my own computer and I want to say thank you to Lenovo. If it wasn’t for Lenovo's extremely bad Tech Support and Sales I would not have built my own computer.
Lenovo you are so terrible and clueless, you have inspired me, you have driven me by showing me your lack of knowledge and sense of awareness, the idea that a company has a sales and tech department that knows absolutely nothing about their own product. Thank you Lenovo, you are simply the worse PC maker on the Planet!
Thanks to you; today I have the most powerful computer I could ever imagined. The only Tech Support Leno provides is the word Support on their website.

  • Well this is a first! Thank you Lenovo o.O

For the first time ever, Lenovo has updated most of the Ideapads z570 drivers!
Windows 8 users can grab their Windows 8 goodies from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT072735
I never thought I would be satisfied with Lenovo till today. This is how customers should be treated, with up-to-date drivers.

Actually the upgrade fee came first in April 2012. The upgrade eligibility change was in April 2013. New customers will have an activation fee of $35 per line to start an account.

  • Thank you support !

    Hello,
    I bought a Lenovo 3000 N200 some months ago.
I had no problem with my laptop, it's perfect but an issue with my battery. So I phoned to the support yesterday and I received a new battery this morning.
I am really impressed by the quality of after-sales service and I would like to say THANK YOU. Thank you Lenovo !
I will always buy Lenovo now. For me, it is the best choice.
Furthermore, the man who answered me yesterday was really nice, polite and delightful.
    Thank you, thank you !

  • Chronic BSOD with Lenovo ThinkPad 430s - WHAT do I do? Thank you.

    Dear Community,
I have had chronic crashes to BSOD since I got my Lenovo ThinkPad 430s with Professional Windows 7, and latest BIOS. Current on Windows updates. I understand there is an Intel problem.
Therre is no  predicting the BSOD, and no prevention that I cannot figure.
How do I proceed to get this corrected? Thank you. Roy Waller   [email protected]

Here is the information from a BSOD crash months ago. I will try to gather the data on the next BSOD. I know this is a stupid question, but where would I find the serial number of this Lenovo Thinkpad 430s. I am certain I purchased this computer a little more than a year ago. The BSOD has been a problem from the beginning. I am a physician, retired, teaching Honors Anatomy & Physiology - pro bono- in a local high school. When the BSOD problem occurred, I just went to my old Apple MacBook and forgot about the T430s.

  • THANK YOU - b-noir, dmitry, &c.  Got it working so far...

First off an ENORMOUS THANK YOU to everyone who's been suggesting fixes for the problems with iTunes 5..... not least Dmitry Byk and others too numerous to mention - but especially b-noir !
    b My system :
Windows PC with XP Home Edition, Service pack 2, and all up to date via windows update. Also... Norton Internet Security (including Antivirus) 2005, and Webroot's Spy Sweeper aswell...all sitting behind a firewall router.
    b My Symptoms :
Happily clicked on the option to upgrade to iTunes5 after experiencing no trouble at all to date....
When I tried to install iTunes, at the end of the install process, the whole system locked solid....no Ctrl Alt Del, nothing ! Had to push the reset switch. Once re-set, the PC re-booted but had disabled my Active Desktop. Everything worked OK in this state, except when I tried to launch iTunes from the desktop when the computer would lock solid with the 'hourglass' next to the cursor - and only a punch of the re-set switch would re-boot it (...and on one occasion I tried leaving it for a couple of hours to see if it managed to 'unlock' itself before resorting to this !) No blue screens of doom, and no error messages - just a total 'lock-up' !
NB !!! I also suspect that I had not shut down my Norton 2005 while installing iTunes.
b OK...the fix so far..with HUGE THANKS to those mentioned above.
First I made a backup of my 'My iTunes' folder to ensure a copy of my files (should have done that ages ago !
Then removing iTunes was a problem - since it did not appear in Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list !
Cue a load of dredging around the threads....
First I followed the advice on the Apple Support page: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
I followed every step to clean the machine BUT did NOT try and install iTunes after every step. I just kept cleaning out the old stuff. I did the download of the windows cleanup utility....which found an iTunes entry even though it did not appear in control panel's add/remove programs.
I now followed Dmitry Byk's steps 1 and 2 here : Dmitry Byk, "Success! All fixes together in one thread...step-by-step...", 12:19am Sep 11, 2005 CDT
BUT at this stage did NOT start installing Quicktime, Bonjour and iTunes.
I did download the standalone programs from his links in step 3 & 4 and saved them to a folder ready for use later. Latest iTunes was downloaded from the main Apple link.
Then I followed someone else's advice on clearing out hidden iTunes/Quicktime folders hidden in Application Data folders, and also the Quicktime/iTunes folders in Program Files.... The step-by-step for this was found on a thread but the name and location I have lost and can't find again. IF ANYONE RECOGNISES THIS BIT PLEASE POST A LINK. The posting took you step by step through revealing the hidden folders and working through the various locations where iTunes & Quicktime leave remnants of folders. I can't remember the name of the person who put it up... although maybe b-noir pointed someone to it on another thread which I followed ?!
Once I'd finished all the delting... i switched off my pC, left it a while and then came back to start installing.....
    ### ii Before Installing I disconnected from the internet, and then disabled Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus by right clicking on the system tray (bottom right of the screen) icon and disbling protection until the next re-start.
i I also totally shut down my Spy Sweeper software, and then for good measure closed all the other programs with icons in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen.###
Next I installed the freshly downloaded Quicktime and just accepted the file associations at the end of the set-up procedure.
Next I re-booted the computer, and then went through all my 'shut downs' in the paragraph marked ### above.
Next step was to install Bonjour just like Dmitry Byk tells you in his posting (see link above).
Re-boot the computer, and do all the ##

hang on.... here's the rest !.......
...Re-boot the computer and do all the ### paragraph shut-downs again.
Next I installed iTunes from the setup program freshly downloaded from Apple. I unchecked the 'search for music' options and allowed the 'organise my music' option, and once the install had finished the computer seemed to be working fine.
Next I opened up Norton Internet Security and went to Status & Settings, Personal Firewall, Configure, and under the Programs tab ensure that the entried for iTunes and Bonjour were set to Permit All in the Internet Access column.
Now I closed everything and re-booted....
Once I'd done this I made sure that Norton Internet Security & A/Virus protections were running, reconnected to the internet and double clicked on my shiny new iTunes icon on the desktop......
AND IT WORKED OK with full access to the Music Store and all my music listed correctly.
That's the story so far.... My next steps are to do all my ### para shut-downs and install the latest iPod Updater Software as downloaded from Apple (did I mention that I cleared out all of those entries in Control Panel (Add/Remove programs) before starting the installs aswell ?!)
Once that's done I'll plug in my iPod and try a synch to check all's well...... I was lucky that the total 'lock-up' I was experiencing meant I couldn't even try to synch my iPod and so still had the use of it's music trouble free while I dredged around trying to fix iTunes.
I'll let you know if this works OK.....
Now some of the technically minded of you will be able to point out that some of the above steps might not be necessary, but hey - it worked for me and so i thought it was worth sharing in case someone else out there has the same crashing.
b A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to b-noir and Dmitry Byk in particular. Nothing I've written above is my own clever computer insiight - but a collection of the work done by the good people who post replies with assistance.
b Moreover - people like b-noir deserve a shiny new Mac System from Apple as a thank you for their tireless efforts to help people out. They are doing some serious corporate-reputation-recovery in their own time and deserve more of a reward than just our simple texted 'thank you's.....
b ii THANKS to all of you who have suggested fixes - it's greatly appreciated by simpletons like me !!!
    Cheers, Taffmaster

It appears as if my startup disk has been reversed and not using the fusion ssd portion as it should.  At least its now reversed as to what it used to be originally before.  the 128gb ssd used to be on top.  Is my mac booting fusion correctly?  Thank you for responding as I was about to reformat.

    Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.

    Remote XUL
This page uses an unsupported technology that is no longer available by default in Firefox.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Seems unbelievable that I previously had no problem and now I do. Have you any suggestions to overcome this? Do you think I can go back further in Firefox history to get a version that will make it possible to access this. Many thanks! Lynn

Hmm. The problem still may be the RAM - Apple buys the RAM it puts in its machines from third-party vendors (usually Hynix) so it could be a RAM problem.
There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
Run Rember first... call back with results.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • I have installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 but still cannot get email from my work exchange account. I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion.  This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store.  Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it.  I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date.  It is usually correct, to within a few weeks.  A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.
    I hope this helps.

I would delete the account and try to re-enter it. Also, you have to let your firm's IT department know that you want to sync work email on your personal devices before they actually work.
