Thanks for a completely useless photo albums feature apple...

So just upgraded to iOS5, and today decided to take advantage of the new photo albums feature but moving my photos to folders that actually mean something.
Finally apple let you do this, or so i thought...
However I found that when moving the photos, it does not move them, but makes duplicates.
So i delete the original in camera roll as the whole point of the albums is to not have every photo mixed together in one giant backlog...
Now the photos are gone from all albums!
Not only that, but it seems iCloud which is supposed to backup your phone, doesn't actually back up photos.
Neither can i find anywhere on my computer (iTunes) where the backups/photos are located.
I suppose iTunes doesn't back them up automatically either?
Thanks a lot apple.

Apple can't hear you here.
This is where they can hear you:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
iCloud backs up your last 1000 photos if you have Photostream activated
iTunes on Windows can sync photos to a variety of Windows image apps - it depends what you have on your system. Connect the phone, click the Photos tab in iTunes, and see what options you have.

  • Powerpoint on Mac - Photo Album feature and file compression

I am running Powerpoint 2008 for Mac, version 12.2.7, on my MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running Mac OSX 10.5.8.
I have had an issue for several years with Powerpoint on the Mac. Other folks in my company - all on PCs - are able to do two things in PPT that I cannot. One is to dump a bunch of photographs into a PPT presentation automatically - one image per slide - using the Photo Album feature. I cannot find this or a similar feature on my PPT for Mac. Does this exist?
Also, my PPTs are loaded with photos, and the finished PPT files get really large. The folks with PCs are able to select a single JPG on a slide, go to Format Picture > Compress, and select "apply to all images in this presentation". Then compress the photos to either 96dpi, 150dpi or 200dpi (I think those are the choices) with one push of the button. I also cannot find this or a similar function on my PPT for Mac.
I could really use both of these features. Does anyone know if they exist, and where I can find them in PPT for Mac?
    Thanks a ton!

It plays a song and shows the art for a completely different artist/album.  ***?

Have you tried re-building the artwork?
Try unchecking "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.
Then check "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod again.
This should resync the album artwork to the iPod.
If this does not work, you might need to restore the iPod and reload the songs in order to correct this error.

When viewing photo albums photos show in random. How do you get photos to show in sequecne?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Before going into any depth about this have you checked that you aren't simply using the shuffle option in the slideshow settings.

  • Photo albums on Apple TV

Confused...... have downloaded Apple TV version 3.0 and Itunes 9.02, and really glad to finally see better options for photo viewing.
However, as I have a bigger library than the size of my ATV, I am not syncing all pics, but wish to sync some.
I have selected certain albums and events in last 12 months.
On using ATV, events are there and so is the generic large file of pics, but none of the smart or normal albums that I have ticked.
    Can anyone shed any light?
BTW - if you are experiencing connection issues, on other threads it seems apple wireless is shot on snow leopard and on iphone. Cheers apple.

    Hi,
Not sure, but could it be that the smart folders would only work if the source events, to which the "smartly selected" photo's belong, are also synced?
    Regards,
    Vincent

Have you tried asking this question in the iPhoto forum (assuming it's an iPhoto question) or the AppleTV forum (if it's more a question about the AppleTV?).

I keep getting an error message 3-4 days after I upload the book.  I close all applications, save as a pdf and and buy the book.  Still no product.  Is this a common occurence or just me?

How did you save teh PDF? from this preview link -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Photos Completely Useless to Me

The hype over Photos in the months preceding its release was that it would be a powerhouse app, the only one you would ever need, a melding of Aperture and iPhotos of all the best parts.  What a load of crap!
I have tens of thousands of photos organized by File Name, which was imported in some Metadata mess, but which I can not sort my photos by, and which I cannot view as a "Title".  My whole library hinges on the File Name and my ability to organize my photos my File Name.
Stars: I use Stars to signify priority of my photos, and when a priority level of a photo changes, so does the Star rating.  I don't want to have to dream up Key Words in place of my stars.
In the past I have imported photos from both my iPhone and my camera, imported them into iPhoto, deleted them from my iPhone, exported them to an external folder where at my leisure I carefully edit and assign the appropriate File Name to each photo, once complete, the Photos were brought back into iPhoto ... File Names and all.
They were then sorted and organized by File Name ... do you see a pattern here?
I need to view the File Name as a title so that I know which photo is which, because on the surface many look so very similar.  I then synch select photos back to iCloud and into various albums on my iPad.  Had a system down with iPhoto, and apparently it is a system which does not exist on Photos, which apparently I need to use now to get my photos synched back onto my iPad and iPhone as needed.
Unless someone can show me that I'm just stupid and not figuring this out, and screwing around trying to deal with this is costing me time and money I don't have ... this new Photos app is completely useless to me and Apple ought to consider trashing this thing, bring back iPhotos on the Mac and convert iOS to iPhotos on iPhone and iPad.
There ... I've said it.  I've said what everyone else is thinking.
File Names people ... It's as simple as File Names as Titles

Why use it then? Use iPhoto still as I am doing. I am still running Aperture also. I have no interest in Photos as yet. But at least I read the release notes on it properly first, which you obviously failed to do.

  • How to create Photo Album - Smugmug?

    Hi,
I've been playing around with Photo Albums lately using PS
CS, & DW's Fireworks version. They all work fine but I really
like the way Smugmug is designed. The layout works well, and I'd
like to create something similiar for my images. Any thoughts or
ideas on how to do this? Is there any software or tutorials out
there to help? I really want to be able to customize my albums.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike A.

I'm quietly confident that DW9 will not produce the type of
    code that
    Elements does.
You need to remember that Elements, as well as Photoshop, are
    primarily for
graphics. The fact that they can and do create photo albums
    is a bonus
really. For the average* user - the html created is not
    really intended to
be played with too much. Its possible, but if you want lean
    and clean - you
really wouldn't go for an off the shelf solution anyway -
    would you?

  • How to create photo albums?

In the photo app, there is a selection called albums (plural).. yet, I can only see one album, and can't figure out how to create other albums and move my photos into other albums. (same seems to be true for the iPad).
How do I create and use multiple albums?

    @Pauleduc
Here is another discussion thread that shows you how to make your own albums on a PC and iTunes and skip iPhoto completely.
    Photo Album (s)
It still requires that you use a computer to create them. I find this restriction completely baffling but it is what it is and short of jailbreaking your phone there is not a way around it.
I have been using using Mac since at least MacOS 4. However, I find most of the iLife applications too restrictive to my liking. If you like them then you love them. But if you want to do something a little different then you are out of luck.

  • IOS 8 photo albums

I'm guessing with iOS 8 there isn't a separate album for photos I took on my phone and what is on the cloud from other devices on my iCloud account?  Is there a way to separate them?

    You can read some here
Other changes in the Photos app are primarily cloud-related. The default Photo Stream functionality has changed in a way that regular people will probably like but that we personally find annoying. iOS 8 does away with the concept of the "camera roll," the album of photos taken locally on the device you're actually holding in your hands. Now iCloud photos and local photos all mix together into one continuous stream. Many will like this because it makes all of your stuff available everywhere, and it means you won't have to poke around in different albums to find a picture if you don't remember whether you took it on your iPhone or iPad. If you're taking a few hundred screenshots for something like this review, though, it's a little irritating to get screenshots from multiple devices plus pictures from iPhoto all mixed together. You've got to turn Photo Stream off if you only want to see the stuff that's actually on your device.
Finally, there's that iCloud Photo Library feature Apple talked up at WWDC, which has made it to the GM build of iOS 8—but only as a disabled-by-default beta version. It's similar to Photo Stream, but it differs in a few key ways. Both offer to sync photos between your various Apple devices using iCloud, but Photo Stream will only save pictures for 30 days or until you upload more than 1,000 photos, whichever happens first. iCloud Photo Library won't delete photos automatically. Photo Stream photos don't count against your iCloud storage space, however, but iCloud Photo Library pictures will. You'll definitely need to pony up for more iCloud storage space if you're anything more than a casual photographer.
If you still want to use iCloud Photo Library, there's nothing here to stop you. However, that "Beta" tag means "proceed with caution, because we aren't ready to promise that this thing won't eat all your pictures." You're prompted to back up your iPhone's local photo library to your computer before getting started, and you should be extra attentive to performing those kinds of backups for as long as that beta tag applies (we'd look for it to be removed either when Yosemite releases later this year, or when the OS X version of the Photos app comes out early next year)."

  • Photo Album Photo Size

I have tried the PSE Photo Album but cannot get an entire photo to show on an album page. Photos are cropped by the program (sometimes showing just an arm or sky). I have enlarged the photo on the album page using the 'arrows' but cannot get all of the original to show, all that happens is the arm is made larger.
It is rather frustrating to have a photo album feature that does not show an entire photo. It would seem I am missing something. I would be grateful if anyone could explain if this is normal for Photo Album or whether this might be a software glitch. The guides I have already watched do not provide any help about how accurately the Photo Album includes a photograph.

    Adobe Support helped.
