Thanks for bringing back the AP widget, but my NYC 311 widget doesn't seem to work. I can choose from a geographical list of cameras, but none of them open up anymore. The whole widget loooks different. Is there a secret method for opening up the screens to see the cameras? Thanks for any help.

Any hope for bringing back the 3x4 or 16x10 screens on Thinkpads?

I absolutely detest the 16x9 screens used on today's laptops since they give such little vertical screen space. I simply can't be productive when I have to constantly scroll up and down when reading or writing text. I don't read horizontally. I read vertically and I need all the vertical screen resolution that I can get.
A decade ago we were able to get 1600x1200 resolution screens. Today, we are stuck with horrible 1600x900 screens. We have lost 300 vertical pixels, which is a fourth of our vertical work space.
Every laptop I have bought since 1999 except one has been a Thinkpad, but I am seriously considering buying a MacBook Pro simply because they are offered with a 16x10 screen resolution.
I have checked the claims that it is cheaper to manufacture 16x10 rather than 16x9, but I could find no evidence that this is true. Even if a taller screen is more expensive, I would willingly pay more for a taller screen.
It seems that the LCD manufacturers have colluded to eliminate taller screens, but Apple has proven that it is possible to offer 16x10 sreens. So why can't Lenovo do the same? As the largest computer manufacturer in the world, Lenovo can surely pressure the LCD industry to produce 16x10 and 3x4 screens.

4:3 and 16:10 is not coming back to Lenovo laptops, which is unfortunate, but a trend in the Wintel PC industry, where profit margin means everything. Regarding Apple, well lets say they are profitable in many sector, and can provide things that others couldnt/wouldn't/unwilling.
This debate is not going to get the old screen formats back.

Please bring back the Modern Skype App for x86 devices

The desktop Application is unusable on small tablets, due to its fiddly controls, missing features and extremely high demand of system resources (RAM, CPU, etc.). It's sad to see Microsoft once again neglecting its creations (like you did with Zune). Especially, when theres no logical reason for it (RT users can still use the app, you're just blocking us out - it's the same codebase!). People, let them hear your voice. I know, many others share my point of view, but they won't change anything if they don't see any complaints!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Bring back the independent App for the Economist Magazine! Take it out of Newsstand! Audio version no longer downlaods! Their Help desk is incompetent!

Using the audio version of the Economist magazine is impossible in their new Newsstand version App. It just will not download. The Economist help desk is incredibly unhelpful and incompetent. This used to be so easy when the App was independent. Several other people have given feedback requesting the old App returns and complaining the App inside Newsstand is dis-functional! Who will support me in bringing back the independent Ap? NO NEWSTAND AP TYRANNY!!

Only the people at The Economist can choose to reprogram the app so it is out of Newstand.

Bring back the Filter option in Search results

Well, not only Sorting is messed up (removed) from the latest realease of Spotify, filtering is as well. You can no longer filter (ctrl-F/cmd-F) your search results, and, as with many other great features killed without explanation, we want this one back as well. Thanks!
PS. You can manually bring back the old search - including sorting and filter options - if you write "spotify:search:[search term]" in the search field.

Is there a business reason why this feature hasn't returned, despite a huge number of complaints? (Matt Suda - does he work for Spotify? - writes in this thread that it is coming back but its status is still "Watch this space" in the monthly ideas review). I can think of a few business model reasons that Spotify doesn't want its customers to have filter/search. For example: 1- I bet it's reduced the amount of use by customers like me, so the business gets the "Health Club" revenue stream - loads of subscribers who don't use the service much. 2- Perhaps its a way of increasing use of the Facebook aspect of Spotify and so creating more advertising revenue. If we are wasting our time and effort asking for the return of this feature then please, Spotify, just tell us and we will vote with our wallets after examining the competition.

Bring back the 500GB Standalone Plans

I am very disapointed that there is no longer a 500GB option and everyone is now forced onto either 50GB, 250GB or 1TB tiers. I would have much preffered a price discount and the 500GB plan offered at $95 dollars, instead of being stuck paying $113 for 500GB and hoping I get upgraded to 1TB. If I don't then I'm expected to pay an extra $2 dollars and swap to a different plan when others have been upgraded for free. I could understand if the 500GB plans weren't offered anywhere, but they are still offered in bundles, could you please bring back the 500GB plan or at least have it available in a tier?? I personally think 250GB, 500GB and 1TB tiers instead would be better value. If I was paying less than 100 dollars for 500GB I would be more incentivised to bundle, and the bundles as usual disadvantage existing customers by offering nothing at all. Thanks Telstra

Bring back the community feel to 'Skype Community'...

My suggestion for this 'community' - bring back the community feel.
I've not been on the forums for some years now, so I'm probably just out of touch with what the skype forums are about these days. Anyway, I get the impression that although the forums were renamed to be 'community', the content seems to discourage a community feel.

under the old skype forums, I remember many people used to post introductions to themselves and some such users included people who later went on to become skype moderators \ influential members of the skype community.
it's possible that the OP should have been advised to post more content \ a little more about themself, but to say that the community does not support friendship requests seems a bit of a contradiction.
I personally don't post 'friend requests' here or on any other forums, but when socialising it's natural to see people introducing themselves especially when they are integrating into a new community....
The old skype versions had a 'meet me' feature. this was suspended as it created more problems than anyone expected... too many idiots being idiots because it was a one-to-one exchange. however I believe that the old forums had a 'coffee corner' where people did introduce themselves and it was encouraged. perhaps this 'community' needs such a section to truly be a community. it doesn't seem sensible to be stating that skype does not support friendship requests....

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that joining and building online communities also is fostered by the option to share details about yourself. Just like with the "Skype Me" status feature from the Skype application this requires a high amount of moderation, especially because of the "idiots" you are mentioning. Feature Request - Bring back the show progress bar

Just in case Verizon is looking for suggestions here, can you please bring back the progress bar that was behind the start/end times in the guide? In the current guide, there is no quick graphical cue to represent how much time has progressed in the selected show. Yes, you can look at the start, end, and current times, but when browsing through shows that start/end at different times, it really slows browsing down.
I've uploaded two images to illustrate the issue.
The first image below is a screenshot of the v1.9 guide. The second image is a mock-up that shows the feature that I am talking about. Note the progress bar for the currently selected show in the guide that appears behind the start and end times ("7:35 AM - 9:30 AM" on the right side of the screen, in the middle).
This was available in the previous guide, but was omitted in 1.9. It is a very useful feature. Please bring it back.
(NOTE: The white progress bar at the top of the screen does NOT represent the progress through the show selected in the guide. It just shows the current time.)

I'm sorry, but I just do not see the benefit of the elapsed time thing you propose. What difference does it make to see some kind of indicator how far into the program you are? You can't change where you are, you are there, period.
But if you really, really want to know:
1) Just look at the start time and end time shown in the current program in the middle, and look at the TOD shown at the top, and estimate where you are.
- or -
2) Hit the Info button once and see a bar that definitively shows how far in you are.
Could you please explain why you think having that feature is so useful? I just don't see it.

Is there a way to bring back the actual tab "bar"?

So in switching from FF3.6 to 5.0 I have noticed that the actual "bar" that holds the tabs is gone.

It's visually slightly annoying to not have a distinct separator between the tab area and the button toolbar, but that is something I can live with.
However I can NOT live with the extremely annoying functionality drawback that comes as a result of this. In 3.X and before you could right click anywhere in the tab bar and it would bring up the tab management menu. Now you can't bring up the menu from empty space because it treats that space as part of the rest of the UI and gives you a different menu, forcing you to mouse all the way over to a tab to accomplish the same end.
So my question is, does anyone know of a way, or an addon, that can bring back the actual tab bar? I find all of these UI changes to be nothing short of infuriating. I swear, Mozilla, Facebook, Pandora, Google, and Microsoft must all be in cahoots with each other because they're all introducing horrible UI designs at the same time.

Well I guess that's kind of cool that you can add buttons in the bar as well, but I honestly don't have a use for that and I think it would get in the way more often than not in most scenarios I can think of (there's a reason buttons were segregated from the tab bar and it wasn't tech limitations). The previous functionality is much more convienent and useful and, well, functional.
As for why FF5, well I've had the FF5 installation since before 6.0 was out, but the UI changes angered me so much that I abandoned it after about 20 minutes and went back to using my 3.6 installation; I've been letting the community stew and cook up solutions to the UI problems (status4evar for example) and like any good stew, giving it more time is better. Also a whole bunch of my addons (some of which are mission-critical to my browsing needs) were not [and a small few are still not] compatible with anything above 3.x, 4.x, or 5.x so I had to wait for those (mmm, stew). And then to top it off I figure the possibility that I'll run into upgrade problems is smaller if I go through the chain of updates rather than jumping from 3.6 straight to 7. And don't get me started on the whole rapid release schedule. :P

Is Windows 8.1 Update 2 bringing back the start menu?

Was browsing group policies in Windows 10 GPMC, and discovered something new... Start Menu layout. But the requirement is "At least Windows 8.1 Update 2". So is 8.1 Update 2 bringing back the start menu? This could change before the final release
of Windows 10 obviously, and they might have originally planned to bring it back in 8.1, before deciding to make it a big deal for Windows 10, but an interesting discovery nonetheless.

Unfortunately, there will be no Windows 8.1 Update 2. If you want the new Start Menu design, you'll need to upgrade to Windows 10.
