how do I get my camera roll back following iOS 8 upgrade?

Then Apple should tell owners about this before the upgrade, so we know what to do. This is very typical of Apple, who assume owners are geniuses and can get themselves out this kind of issue. You say I should be importing pics to my Mac, why should I? I import the pics I want for the longer time and don't import others that I want to keep on my iPhone. What I don't expect is for an upgrade to delete stuff without a clear warning. I will be taking this up with Apple. I remain pretty fed-up.

  • Does the Restore function roll back installed iOS version?

    Hey there!
I am thinking of getting a iPod Touch 3rd Generation next week, it's a second hand buy, so I am interested in the exact functions of the Factory Reset option.
Currently, the device is a later iOS 5, but I can't say exactly which one. I'd like for it to stay that way, so I want to know if the Factory Reset option rolls back the iOS version to the version with which the device shipped, or it will simply wipe it?
I'm just interested in the wipe part of the factory reset, the iPod has been used by another person and I am sure they won't bother to remove anything. Plus the device is a bit sluggish, so I believe this might help speed it up. [tips for speeding up a iPod Touch 3rd Gen are welcomed too]
Thanks in advance for your time!

Restoring will install the latest version of iOS compatible with the iPod. For the 3rd generation, that would be iOS 5.1.1.

  • My iPhone 5S is using 2.5GBs of storage for the camera roll.  I deleted all but 190 photos and this did not change.  My other devices cannot backup to iCloud due to the volume on my iPhone.  Any ideas?

Try turning off the Camera Roll option in Settings>iCloud>Backup & Storage>Manage Storage>Your device. Then turn it back on again.

  • How to get my camera roll back from iCloud?

I restored my iPhone and now I need to get my camera roll back from iCloud..please tell me how to do that..Thank you

That's true. You can only restore complete backups.
I got my pictures back, the ugly way though. What I did:
    - made an iCloud backup of my phone (only 2GB instead of the earlier 4GB, because the camera roll was empty)
    - restored my last iTunes backup, this was a month old. It was made right before i upgraded to iOS5.
    - My pictures were back on my iPhone so i downloaded them to my PC.
    - Then I restored the iCloud backup from my phone. The one I made before I restored the iTunes backup.
The pictures where gone again, but at least I had them on my PC.
I don't trust iCloud backups anymore. The backup itself holds all your settings and remembers which apps and data you had installed. But it went wrong when it had to redownload the pictures from the cloud. It was a hard lesson learned. From now on I'll backup my pictures once in a while. I was used to what Apple promises: that everything "just works". No, it doesn't.

  • TS1398 My iPhone 5s can no longer use Internet on a wifi network. I've reset everything, how can I roll back to iOS 7?

My iPhone 5s can no longer use Internet on a wifi network. I've reset everything, how can I roll back to iOS 7?
i Was considerinf buying a macbook pro, but am reconsidering spending such an amount of money on a company that can screw up such a basic function. I mean you can have your iOS 8 back if this is what it means, I don't want to use your health Kit app.

You cannot 'roll back' your iOS.  That's never been supported or allowed by Apple (with only one exception).
Use this article: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple
It's not the iOS.  It may be a setting on your iPhone or the wi-fi network, or a hardware issue.  But it's not the iOS.  If it was, then everyone's iPhone 5S using the same iOS would not be working, and that's not the case.
    Troubleshoot your issue.

  • HT4847 My camera roll back up on my iCloud is coming up at 5.2GB how do I clear up space, will it delete all photos on my iPhone?

My camera roll back up on my iCloud is coming up at 5.2 gb
If I turn off the back ups will it delete all photos on my iCloud?
Or delete all photos off my camera roll?

If you turn off your Camera Roll backup from your phone backup on iCloud, your Camera Roll photos won't be included in the next backup, getting 5.2 GB more of free space. Photo Stream has nothing to do with your phone backup, because your photos will still be there until 30 days after adding them, when Photo Stream deletes the photos automatically

can you export dirrectly form the camera roll on an ios device to a time capsule ?

Not out of the box. However, you might want to try an app like FileBrowser to access the TC on an iOS device.

Hi the next thing i would do is Reset ipad back to Factory Settings This will get rid of any bugs. Use the same Apple, id & password then you will get all your Apps & Data back. I Restore, my iphone& ipads about every 2 months if they are slowing down. Since ios 7 i never use my pc for updates almost everything can be done over Wifi we have 2 iphones 3 ipads and we never have any problems. Cheers Brian

  • Why is the camera roll album gone iOS 8

Updated to iOS 8 and the camera roll album is now gone, and all you have is recently added photos and an album for deleted photos which I think completely defeats the purpose of deleting photos. To see the rest of your photos, you have to go to memories or collections or something like that and have to scroll through  extremely messy date stamped albums then click on them and it takes you to a map that takes forever to load then you have to zoom in to find the picture you want. This is probably the dumbest thing I have ever seen come from Apple so far. Bring back the old camera roll album and don't force us to use photo stream or iCloud sharing photos or whatever it may be. I want the ability to simply see all of my pictures in one place and scroll through them and if I want them on my Mac I will plug up my phone and sync it. Until then, I'm going to try to go back to ios7. Also after the update my not abused iPhone 5 with 32gig memory is much slower, the apps fade in and out much less smoothly, added more apps from apple that I don't want nor can I delete, and made it ignorantly hard to go through your photos. Very disappointed

agreed, I will not buy the new iPhone if this is how the photos and camera are going to be handled. You would think one of the highest grossing and most intelligent electronics company would have seen how terrible of an idea this was during their many months of development. Hopefully this will be seen along with others who feel the same and apple can give us the camera roll album back, thats seriously all I want in my pictures. I don't want to know when I took it, or where, or have pictures organized by these criterion, or several albums to hold other useless stuff and copies, we just need the camera roll.

  • I had an I phone4 in 2011 and I had a huge camera roll of pictures.  I sold the phone and have not had an i phone again until now another iPhone4.  The whole time I've owned a iMac and still do.  Should my pictures from my camera roll back in 2011

that used to back up to my mac.   I sold my iphone and lost my pictures in a crash on my imac, so is there a possibility my pictures are still somewhere I can get them.  I have another iphone 4 again, but I cant remember my old logon.  When it askes my email to send my a reset password it gives my one im using now.  When I try the security questions it says my birthday is wrong  .......help

Videos aren't included with Photo Stream. Photo Stream is for photos only.
Syncing an iOS device with iTunes does not involve the Camera Roll. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, and all photos/videos imported should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with the backup for the device. Were you backing up your iPhone wirelessly via wi-fi with your iCloud account, or were you backing up your iPhone on your computer via the iTunes sync process?
If included with your iPhone's backup with iCloud, you can transfer the backup to a new iPhone or iOS device. There is no direct access to the iCloud backup for an iOS device. There is direct access to the backup stored on your computer via the iTunes sync process, but the PC is dead.

  • ICloud Storage is almost full -- how do I clear my iPhone Camera Roll back-up without losing my photos?

Hi.  My iCloud storage is almost full and my iPhone Camera Roll seems to be the main culprit.  So...
    1.  I think that they way to free up my iCloud storage is to go into iCloud management and delete the back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll.  Right?
    2.  If yes, does deleting my iPhone Camera Roll from iCloud back-up delete the photos from my phone entirely?
    3.  Also, if I have already saved my iPhone photos to my iPhoto Library on my computer (via hard line sync), should I be worried about deleting the iCloud back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll?  (In other words, will deleting the back-up on my phone somehow tell my iPhoto to delete the copies of the photo as well?)
Any tips would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

Here's a tip: Part of what I do is photography, so I normally treat my iPhone as another camera. So, what I do is after I have finished taking some shots/videos with it, I download them to my computer (in my case, via Aperture). For everyone else, on the Mac there is the free Image Capture app, or the iPhoto app (which, if you have the latest version of Lion, it isn't built in there, so you would have to download it from the App Store for a fee).
I have made it a habit to use this method whenever I finish taking pictures at the end of a day (but that's just me). Also, keep in mind that the videos that you take on your iPhone can take up a lot of space very quickly (for instance, one minute of 720p HD video recorded on the iPhone takes up over 300 MB of space!), so you would need to keep that in mind when shooting videos. SO, to answer your questions above:
    1) Right.
    2) No, because it is only a backup, not the Camera Roll itself.
    3) You should not be worried about deleting the iCloud backup of the iPhone Camera Roll. What would happen (in terms of the method) is that you first would download them to iPhoto first, then delete the images from your Camera Roll. This then would free up your iCloud storage space. Lastly, placing them in your iPhoto app will not tell your backup on your phone to delete them. When you delete the images from your camera roll, your "backup" will be smaller in size than it was beforehand.... Hopefully that made sense.

  • Camera roll gone after iOS upgrade

I see that with the iOS upgrade "Camera Roll" is no longer available in Photos.  It appears to have been replaced with "Recently Added".  Well I had quite a few photos in "Camera Roll" and they are now missing.  "Recently Added" is taken literally - it no longer has older photos in it.  Is there a place where my photos can be retrieved?

Wow, that isn't very obvious.  I went into the Photos category at the bottom of the screen to finally see 'Collections'.  These photos are sure hidden deep.  Not the most convenient but at least they are still there.  Thank you!

  • Ipad camera roll empty after ios 7 update

All photos in camera roll in my IPAD 3 disappeared after update to IOS7. Have no Itunes backup.  Anayway to recover the photos from thr IOS device.  I am happy to buy any special utility software if needed.

It seems like I hear this every day, so I'll begin with a quick sermon: perform backups.
Check two places: on your machine, and do a Spotlight search for some of the photos; then, try iPhoto, because there are times when the data is synced in different places. It's possible some photos may be on the Cloud, but most users don't use the Cloud for storing pics.
To be honest, there's no software I can recommend for data retrieval. Just spend a few dollars for an external backup drive. Maybe others have better information.
