Thanks for the help; new problem with printer
Thanks to those who replied to my pleas for help. I was finally successfully in connecting my router and can now access the internet from both computers; HOWEVER, now I cannot get my printer to work from the computer that it is not hard wired to. I set up home networks on both computers; both run on Windows XP. I am trying to get them to share a hp psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one. It works great on the computer it is hard wired to. Any suggestions?

I was setting up my Airport and thought the first set up dod not go through, then I set up again and ended up with two wireless accounts. I use it for the prointer and the iPad, and I can see both accounts in the iPad. How do I get rid of one account? Thanks for the help!
me.com accounts can be used for iCloud. See the FAQ section in:
<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4895>
but it may be too late if you have already created a new AppleID.
A few years ago Apple said they were working on allowing account merging, but it never happened (maybe objections from copyright holders). -
I have upgraded Snow Leopard with Combo 10.6.8, the supplemental update and fixed permissions, but still can't open app store to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I am on the Cayman Islands. Thanks for the help!
Don't be afraid to bump this topic. There's also an App Store forum where you might repost this question, but give some of these details in your post. I'd rephrase the topic to something like "Can't use App Store to upgrade." (Instead of can't "open".) Then give the details.

Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Sounds like it windows/PC. I have ran across that for the CDs that veterinarians provide for digital x-rays.

Host we need more details:
What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting). -
Is there a fix yet for the no sound problem with lion on the iMac without having to restart every time I switch the computer on?
Try booting in Safe Mode by holding the the shift key immediately after powering on your system. Safe boot mode will for a directory check of your startup volume, then load only the required kernal extensions (kext files), and deletes some cache files. Once the system boots into Safe Mode you can simply restart the system to see whether the issue has been resolved.
If you still have the issue try resetting the SMC by shutting down the system and disconnecting the power cord for ~15 seconds, then reconnecting the power cord. Next, reset the parameter RAM (PRAM) by holding down the option-option-P-R keys after powering ON the system. Wait until the iMac restarts twice, then let the system boot normally. -

Yes you can edit documents in Pages. What can you not figure out that you want to do? Have you transfered a document to the iPad and opened it in Pages and tried to edit it? -

If you have any podcasts in your iTunes library you should see a Podcasts sync setting tab to the right when you connect your phone and click on its name on the left sidebar (see image below). On this tab check to sync podcasts and sync your phone.

Open iTunes with your iPad connected. It should be listed in the Devices section of iTunes sidebar. Select it. You should now see a window with several tabs across the top. You configure what you want synced under each tab, then sync.
You can download a PDF or iBook version of the user guide here. It contains detailed instructions on using the iPad, so I recommend you read it. -

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I confused myself, and I actually used the Buffered Reader object "in" and not the dataOutputStream object. Actually the file I'm reading is a txt file created by a dataOutputStream. This seems to create a buffer around the actual character so that when I do

This seems very odd to me. How do I get rid of the borders surrounding "8", and how did they get there in the first place?

Kudos to Kiesha #1239 and Ramesh in Kuala Lumpur for helping me set up my WRT54GS. One observation, however. When I told Ramesh I couldn't connect to the internet, he replied I had to in order to reconfigure the router. This aroused great frustration since I assumed I had to be plugged into the router in order to reconfigure it and couldn't connect with the router plugged in. Later it became clear that I needed to first disconnect the router and connect directly to the internet using the (satellite) modem. Ramesh might want to ask (and tell) the customer to first disconnect the router and then connect directly to the modem -- that we will reconnect the router later.
One other point.... When pressing the reset button, one needs to hold it in for a minute. A momentary press and release won't work -- even though a nieve user might think it does.

When watching a movie on my iPad 2 with headphones (they're Bose so good quality) on a plane I can barely hear even with volume at highest level--any suggestions on how to increase sound level outside of normal settings-sound level even lower when using a splitter--thanks
Same problem with all headphones and earbuds--just checked settings and Volume Limit was already off--starting to think it's a volume system flaw tied to videos and related sound. No problem getting plenty of sound volume for music, only videos.

Just wanted to say thanks to the peeps who contribute to this forum. Although I have only just registered I have been coming here for the past month and have put together all the missing pieces of my first ever PC Build project. My previous experience was to upgrade the odd part. This forum has enabled me to make the equipment choices, tackle the engineering & build (including fitting the CPU fan which was my worst worry), update the bios & load the drivers & software in the correct order. 99% of the items have been sourced from eBay to save money and so far no DOA's.
Still got some way to go, so any suggestions regarding my future upgrades would be welcome…..
The Winfast graphics card is possibly the weakest link (borrowed from my outgoing PC) and I am looking for an ATI x800xt PE vivo.

I would buy a good PSU first. Otherwise you risk damaging your new equiment. Recommended makes are Enermax, Tagan, Hiper and OCZ with amps on the 12 rail at least in the mid twenties, but preferably around 30.
For video cards, I have preferred nvidia-based cards in recent years because of their better driver support. The 6800GT is a good choice. The ultra version, IMHO, is not worth the added cost since you can ususally OC the GT ot ultra speeds.
Raptors in RAID offer the best performace but suffer a big price premium over 7200 SATA drives.
I would leave the Audio issue for last. You just might like the on-board audio.
Deciding whether to chage the case might be the very first thing to decide since it would be awfully inconvenient to install everything and then have to resinstall because of a case change. I wish there was a way to get a totally silent case/fan combo, but I don't. Maybe someone else will help you on this.
