Thankyou SAP for License re-instatement (NSP et al)

Thanks SAP I DO appreciate the re-instatement of the Licenses.
I understand legitimate concerns over "mis-use" of Trial Software and hope that suitable ways can be found for ensuring the mis-users are suitably punished whilst the rest of us who use the minisap systems quite legitimately for testing , evaluatiing possible ideas and methodology, developing "what if" scenarios, or just simply to improve Abap and Java skills can continue to use these very valuable tools.
SAP itself I'm sure sometimes gets very valuable feedback from people using the software.
Perhaps there should be more clarification on what is actually permitted under the License as the boundary between "Personal Use" and "Professional Use" is not always totally clear -- for example would you be aloowed to TEACH ABAP using the knowledge gained from using the Minisap system .
Running a "Productive" program in a Customer environment is perhaps a clearer distinction between "Private" and "Professional" use -- but what if the program was essentially developed at home on a Minisap system and then transported on to a Customers site and used daily in production. The customer is of course licensed to run his system but are you (the consultant) in breach of the regulations here -- I'm not a Lawyer but my gut feeling would tell me that this is OK --It's only actually Running a minisap system in a productive environment -- i.e real end users acessing a minisap system one way or another to do their work.
Perhaps someone from the SAP legal team could clear this up so we can continue to enjoy using the minisap system in the future .

While browsing on the NetWeaver Trial threads I found a couple of not really amusing comments regarding expiration date and SAP's denial for further support and so on. My NetWeaver ABAP Trial 7.0 SP9 and higher (NSP) expires in about 3 weeks. And then, accidentally, I found your message. And I tried it immediately (I am working with MBS, NSP since middle of 2003). First I got the message about an inconsistency in the System #. I changed the number as you recommended in NSP.txt. It worked immediately. My new expiration date is now 11/24/2008.
I can't grant you with points, but with thousand thanks.

I heard that, we (company) have to take license for the development of EACH adobe interactive form (even though its totally custom brand-new interactive form created from scratch), on individual form basis, is it true? (i know, its free of cost to play around with interactive forms in DEV and QA, but, if we want to move them to PROD, in that case do we need to buy the license from SAP for EACH form individually?)

Thats true...license based on end user usage is required for SAP interactive forms. For more information read SAP note number 750784. The license comes in package like per 1000 users one time payment.

In general, only SAP partner can get the license key. However, partner can assign the right to customer so that they can get it from portal directly.

Limit for license key Process Server Service. JCL_ FTP is exceded

Hi All,
We are getting strange error in Redwood. Now we are not able to start process servers. Process servers were running fine and we were able to run jobs. For some activities in UNIX server we stopped the unix process server and now we are getting strange error while starting process server
9:52:51 PM: JCS-102204: Limit for license key Process Server Service. JCL_ FTP is exceeded; limit is 0, changes require 1.
And we are not able create any new process servers also with job definition type System or Job Chain. While creating we are getting same error.
We have license ProcessServerService.JCL_FTP with the value true.
To create new process server we don't need any JCL_FTP license. Don't know why we are getting strange error.Please help me on this.

SAP B1 License Manager not starting automatcially

Dear All
SAP Version : SAP 9.0 PL12
Issue :
1)SAP B1 License manager is not starting automatically even when the status is automatic in the Services.msc
2)Also when logged from the client system its asks for the IP address/server name every time.
3)Some times it connects with the Server name and sometimes with the IP address.
And at cases it doesn't even connect at all throwing the error message "Connection to the license server failed" .
and then when we replace the config files of SAP B1 to DI API it works fine at cases.
This issue occurs on a random basis and at almost in all the systems(System connected in the morning is facing issue at afternoon).
And it becomes an activity on a daily basis.
So kindly let us know the exact cause for this issue and also a permanent solution for the same.
Note : Firewall setting is turned off.

Have you Installed the License manager with the Admin Rights
SAP Business One doesn't start and License Server Selection screen comes up
SAP Business One generates this error message when logging on: "Connection with license server failed"
On License Server Selection this error occurs: "Connection to license server failed; if license server address is invalid, correct it; if TAO NT Naming Service stopped, activate it and restart License Manager"
On startup, the TAO NT Naming Service returns this warning: "The TAO NT Naming Service on local Computer started and then stopped...";
TAO NT Naming Service is not running. To access this service, right-click the My Computer icon and choose Manage -> Services
Connecting to License Server brings warning: "Failed to connect to License Server"
On startup, the SAP Business One License Manager returns this warning: "The SAP Business One License Manager on local Computer started and then stopped..."
RSP: Logging on to Remote Support Platform (RSP) brings this Error: "Agent service unavailable", RSP Agent Console cannot be accessed. Nevertheless SAP Business One RSP Agent Service is running and restarts successfully

When I go User Classification Display screen, under Contractual User Type column all my 150 users are marked "Operational" but for those which I defined as System / Communication User are defined any contractual user type.
What does it mean??

1. If we say it depends on CPU core, then how to define how many cores will be required?
2. Is the calculation is on volumentrics of data that will pass through BODS, if yes what will be the calculation?
3. If I derive the number of cores, how to derive the number of CPU licenses for BODS?

SAP B1 License problem

Hi all,
At one of our customer,SAP B1 license was imported. However they formatted the server and created domain on the server.We again installed SAP B18.8 PL10.Consequently the Hardware key was changed.Hence we edited the license key request system details(replaced old Hardware key with the new one) and send the fresh license Key Request.But the new license file I received has validity of 14 days for the Professional User,while other Licensetypes have validity till 31.12.9999.
Hence I deleted the old system from the list of Existing Systems by logging in to Customer Portal and then requested the new system(Production System).But again the License file I received has a Professional User with the validity of 14 days whereas it shouldbe till 31.12.9999 while other license types has validity till 31.12.9999.What is the reason?
Please guide me as we need to import the license file .

Hi,
I suggest you to ask the SAP B1 partner in your country to check if the old license system has been perfectly deleted.
You should check if the requested is zero before request new license.
Make sure that the professional users are not exceeding the licensed quantity.

Upgrade SAP for SAP CPS?

we are currently running SAP 4.70. Is it necessary to upgrade your SAP environment to ECC 5.0 or ECC 6.0 to be able to use the SAP CPS environment, or is it directly useable in combination with SAP 4.70?

Hi Roy,
SAP CPS supports all the versions of SAP starting from SAP 3.2, so no need to upgrade to ECC5 or ECC6.
If you are asking this question from SAP CPS licensing part and going ahead with the Basic free version, you need to have at least one SAP NetWeaver component in your SAP landscape.
If you are planning to go for full version licence, then it will do even if you do not have any NetWeaver component in your SAP landscape.
SAP CPS versions 6 & 7 (Also known as Redwood Cronacle version 6 & 7 and built by Redwood and supplied by SAP) can cater to even SAP 3.0 systems.

Getting it means you have to order from SAP using your Customer number (or if you have the patience, download from OSS, still using your customer details).
Now, my question is, with so many companies on the internet selling pre-installed SAP IDES software or even machines behaving as Virtual servers with many usage types of NetWeaver (IDES versions), what is the licensing implications regarding this. i.e. is SAP ok with someone buying this from a third party?, i.e. if I bought this and I am not a SAP customer, what will the licensing issues be if I decide to use it as a training server for SAP enthusiast out there.
Now, some companies are using this for training purposes. Surely if you are getting money out of it, it makes it a commercial usage, or does it?
if someone has an understanding of this, please share some light.

The BI Suite is licensed three ways; either CS concurrent sessions, Users (named users) or a combination of both.
Think of it as a parking lot analogy; A parking lot of 30 spaces for cars, where 25 (concurrent session block) cars (sessions) can access the parking lot (BI Suite) on a random basis and 5 (named users) can access the parking lot (BI Suite) on a reserved parking basis ...

I own fully paid for license for Dreamweaver CS6. Every time I click to open the app, I get a very annoying pop-up message. How do I stop it?

I own fully paid for license for a Mac version of Dreamweaver cs6. Every time I click to open the app, and before I can start using CS6, I get a very annoying pop-up message (see screen shot below) that states I have a trial version and do I want to buy into the cloud version, which I don't. How do I stop the pop-up? This message seems to originate from the Extension Manager.
I tried trashing Extension Manager, but another annoying pops-up which states that I have to "reinstall the application manager". Of course, there is no such thing as a "application manager" that I can find. I guess it should be "extension manager".
I no longer own Photoshop because there are so many great alternatives available. Can't wait to do the same with Dreamweaver.
Adobe can't even get the correct cost. I'm an US Customer however they quote the Creative Cloud in Euros. Go figure........

I have faced this problem in the past. In my case, I had Adobe registered under two separate ID. One when a student and the second as a regular employed individual. Because I purchased the licensed while at the University, the registration was listed under the school id. So, when I login in Adobe using my regular ID, I then received the annoying marketing campaign add.
Therefore, review that you have enter the correct id during loging. IT is possible that you login to the community as one ID but purchased the subscription using a separate user name. In these cases, the computer will not know that you already have a paying license.
