That green spot

I am new here and I have seen a few threads on the green spot in the iPhone 4 camera...but what I want to know is if Apple has acknowledged this problem and is there a solution for it...is it fixable?
My green spot is very bad and has left me no choice but to send it in...I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time if they won't fix it.
'Thanks for your help!

You're probably wasting your time in sending it in. According to one of the iOS Supervisors I dealt with on the phone and the email he forwarded to me from one of the engineers:
"Thanks for the escalation on this subject. You are correct. Certain lighting conditions can create the effect that your customer is reporting. Apple is aware of these reports and is currently investigating. For the time being, please do not service the phone for this condition. Rather, please ask this customer to be patient while Apple investigates."
(this was from an email exchange in late November/early December. was told maybe it'll get fixed in 4.2.1 -> it wasn't. maybe 4.3 -> still isn't.)
iphone 4's camera software does not like fluorescent lighting and light backgrounds. I'm not sure what changed between the 3GS which takes great but slightly grainy photos in these lighting situations and the iphone 4 which is lousyin this lighting.
There are apps in the app store that will allow you to edit photos to get rid of the green spot and photos can be edited in photoshop. I am not aware if there are any apps or programs that can remove it from video that is taken under these conditions. I choose not to use the iphone 4 camera if I'm not outdoors which is where it works best, or use a real camera.

  • Iphone 4 showing&taking pictures with Blue/Green Spot in the Middle

I have the blue/green spot in the middle of the screen while and after taking the photo especially on white ground/wall or paper.
Another thing is that My iPhone 4 back camera takes very yellow photos in artificial light.
So Apple should immediatelly fix this issue. Even I am not able to understand why Apple did not test such basic possible problems.
As you can see from the internet there are many iphone 4 owners and increasing suffering because of this problem.
I wonder how many phones returned to Apple Stores everyday!!!

    Dear all,
As a image scientist, I think iphone 4 camera image quality is very good. It keep most of the details with the cost of noise, but I prefer this style. Most important is iphone 4 color reproduction is very saturated, it's pleasing.
However, green spot problem always annoys me.
I made an app for this problem. It can perfectly correct this problem.
You can see lots of images of green spot on real scenes. Of course there're images after corrections.

  • Big Green spot in center of both the front and rear camera's pictures

My new iPhone 4 has a big green spot in pictures I take. It is visible on the LCD when framing the picture and also shows up in the saved picture after its taken. It is most noticeable when there is a light colored background. Restoring has no effect and the odds that both sensors are bad seem unlikely to me.
Also, I did some googling and found that this is also an issue with other camera phones.

Update: Did more testing and it seems like the issue is being caused by the compact fluorescent lights I use in my house. Taking pictures of my CCFL backlit monitor also exhibits these same issues. Can anyone else experiment with this and tell me if my problem is an isolated one or a general limitation of the iPhone's two camera sensors.
Note: I tested the same situations with my 3GS wish iOS 4 installed and found that it does not share these same issues as my iPhone 4.
Here is a link to a MacRumors forum posting (with pictures) from someone else with the same issues.

  • Satellite A660-O7R 3D - Green spots/smears on the screen

I updated all the drivers and software to enable 3D vision following the instructions on the support pages. Recently I noted when using windows media center, corel winDVD and starcraft 2 that there are lots of green spots scattered around the screen. this is worse in media center, when watching TV or if I'm in the menu there are green/purple smears which are all along the outlines of background graphics.
in the TV mode these move along with the video, they are all along the outlines of people and objects while if I'm in the windows media center menu, then they are found along the edges of those moving graphics. they seem to freeze in place if I disable all the animations. I tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers off the support pages but it made it worse as the green spots started appearing on the wallpaper and in the microsoft office programs as well.
So I ended up doing a system restore to a point a full month back..it all worked fine for an hour after that but the same spots and smears started appearing again. the problem from what I've seen so far appears progressive rather than sudden. all 3 software I've mentioned before are only programs I have which support 3D and also used very often
Please can someone help? I love this machine, really hate to have to return it back to the shop

    Hi
    >So I ended up doing a system restore to a point a full month back..it all worked fine for an hour after that but the same spots and smears started appearing again.
So it look its related more to the software as to the hardware problem but of course it could be related to graphic card as well. So nothing is impossibleyou know
Did you notice this only using the 3D feature?
If yes then the graphic card driver might cause this and as you said the usage of the driver from nvidia page made it worse so possibly its driver issue
But to be honest I didnt find any similar issues in the forum so its really hard to say what could cause this.

  • FCP 7 exports with green spots in places where I have transitions

These file look great in the canvas. But when I export them, I have these huge green spots where the transitions take place. The time line has the video clip, audio clip, and text that enters with a cross dissolve and exits the same way. The spots occur as the text enters and exits. But they are huge!, green spots!
I export as QT movie, settings: current.
Files were shot with a Canon 7D.
    Dimensions: 1280X720
    Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM
    Color profile: (1-1-6)
    Duration: 00:53
    Audio Channels: 2
    Total bit rate 46,032

I export as QT movie, settings: current. (Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM)
I take it your original source material is h.264?
H.264 is not an edit friendly codec.
If so, you should convert that to an FCP friendly format...check easy setups for what best matches your media's specs and post back.

  • LG G4 USB Host support - & green spot issue

Hi - using my new LG G4 on the weekend.   I noted two disasters.  I have the dreaded green spot on my camera.  Sneding back for replacement on this issue.  See photo below. Also - I noted that USB Host Mode does not support 3rd party apps.  What this means is an important app I have used on Samsung S3 and S4 does not work.  Its called RccDroidPro and is used to shoot tethered to Sony Alpha and other Cameras.  Bummer.  XDA developers have patches for custom ROMSs - not one for G4 yet.   I am not keen to root my phone - anyone know another way of making this work - or where do we report feature requests for future ROM releases to Telstra?

Hey Jeff, that's bad luck there with the G4, from all reports they seem overall to be a great looking unit, especially in the camera department. Looks like you might have got the odd one out though. I'm not overly familiar with the RccDroidPro, but it was my understanding that in the first place this was a Sony app developed for use with Sony devices etc. primarilly for usb teethering of DSLR cameras. Actually LG would have to make your hardware compatible, USB wise to run this app.

  • GREEN SPOTS ON MY SCREEN

Can anyone shead light on this. I have a ATI X800 card in my system in the pass few days my screen started filling with green spots of and on. When I drag an open app from screen to sceen it gets worst it turns different colors. Can anyone help Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0

Is this video you are editing in FCP or everything on your screen? If it is only video, is it only one tape or everything?
Has the cooling fan on your video card failed? Check to see if it is running... (I've had one fail and over-heat). If that's the case, you can buy a new fan for 10 or 15 dollars from Geeks dot com or other place of your choice and with relatively few skills replace the dead fan.
If the card is permanently damaged, you could be looking at a new card .. meaning bigger dollars. And, unfortunately, the X800 is getting very hard to find.

  • Finding that unused spot colour

I've turned my document upside down to find this spot colour using separations preview but that doesn't take care of everything. I also checked my paragraph styles, character styles and object styles and stripped the colour from there. Even when a style is not used but holds this colour it still turns up in the separations preview. So far so good, but I can't think of any other place this spot colour could reside. Any other ideas?
Yes, of course, it's also removed from the swatches panel ;-)

I think I've cracked it. I went manually through all pages but nothing turned up. I found the double colour in an abandoned style sheet and character style but they were not in use throughout the document. That keeps you from removing the colour from the swatches panel. However, after deleting or altering the style sheets the double colour remained in the separations preview panel. I've made several inx-docs but the colour remained. Then I decided to open the inx-doc with TextEditor. There were 2 lines of code that contained the double spot colour. I removed those lines and saved the file. Then I opened the file back in ID and now the double spot colour is gone.
Browsing through the inx-doc with TextEditor revealed another error. I found a number of email addresses that were not in the text. This document was a copy of another version of document, created by 'save as'. The layout was kept but all the text boxes were cleared. Somehow ID does not delete properly.

  • HT1459 Unable to charge now that iPod Touch 1st gen unless I find the 'sweet spot'. Some times battery drains while charging. Help, please!

I have a 1st gen iPod Touch and I am unable to charge unless I find the right spot when moving the connector head a bit. When I was able to charge, it would some times drain my battery. Now that it's completely dead, I can't find that right spot. Help??

is there someway i can test this.
    Not that I know of.
is the logic board responsible for calibrating the battery and charging ,
It keeps track of the power and displays it in the upper right of screen.
could it drain the battery say by not switching the drive off i use to remember when shutting down after you swipe the red bar it would give you an icon animation of what looked like a wheel spinning and then a faint whirr and clicking like the drive is shutting down .
There is no moving drive. It's all solid state. What you were hearing is electronic sounds being generated from the logic board.
i still get the the icon and animation but i dont hear the click or whirring anymore suggesting that the drive isnt shutting off which may cause the drain but not the battery indication .
This even leads be to believe more that the problem is on the logic board.
do you think its worth pursuing this ?
If you could find a used logic board on eBay, it might be worth fixing, if you could get it cheap enough.

  • Windows 8 64 bit crash when i try to go to any "explore.exe", to acess hard drives C: or D: or icons in my desktop that go to C: or D:

It crashes on explore.exe so any windows explore aplication it crashes, even in facebook when i want to upload a picture from hard drive. the rest everything is fine, internet works fine, skype, office! the main problem is when i click on my cumputer icon,
it crashes, or when i upload a USB drive to open and crash,or any type of trying the acess to my C: or D:! what can i do?

    1. As you get the message when accessing Folders that contain pictures/videos, it can sometimes be cured by going to Folder Options > View Tab and put a tick in ‘Always show icons, never thumbnails‘.
    2. It is sometimes caused by a third-party extension. ShellExView can be useful to see which shell extensions have been introduced into Explorer. Read about it then scroll down near to the bottom to download the x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version here
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
When you run it, click or tap on the column labelled Company to alphabetically sequence the entries. You have to assume that the Microsoft entries are bona fide, so concentrate on the third-party entries. Is there anything listed that is either unnecessary
or unknown? If so, highlight it and click or tap the red spot (top left) to disable it. There shouldn’t be too many of them but you may find it easier to disable them all, then re-enable them (green spot) one at a time and try File Explorer until the culprit
    is found.
    3. If the issue persists, read about and then download, unzip and run Process Monitor version 3.1 (it doesn’t need installing), from here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

  • E-pl1 yellow/green colour blotches at high iso

Hello to all members and Adobe Team.
i use lightroom 3.3 and i have made a comparison between my 2 cameras with the same sensor , e-p1 and e-pl1 and e-p1, and while they have identical grain like pattern and rendering at high iso (which is what i was expecting since they have the same sensor and only the Anti-Aliasing filter is lighter in e-pl1), colour rendering at high iso is very different (at low iso its different but i have profiles with colorchecker and the differences are minor).
So i will post raw files in tungsten lighting (the most demanding for high iso-.-- 1600 i mean and even at 800 i can clearly see the problems i am describing).
Olympus e-pL1 white balance is really, but really bad.. everything turns green (its really bothering to adjust and affects low iso images too... i spent so much time correcting the green cast but there is something that i can never get right).
There are green/yellow/orange and purple/blue blotches at high iso.... it happens in tungsten lighting and fluorescent (less so at fluorescent, but still), those green/yellow blotches appear in uniform color areas that are in shadows its like a tint and there is nothing of this sort in e-p1 at iso1600 and even much higher isos have this kind of noise well distributed by all colour channels (they are usually small blotches/spots a little to the irregular round shap but sometimes have big size and very irregular shape).
I believe its something in the blue channel but in the green channel also!
Reds and colours at high iso are much more saturated in e-pl1 than in e-p1 (and from imaging-resource samples and dpreview e-pl1 its one of the cameras which has more saturated colours at high iso which sometimes it looks they are clipping channels).
By the way this is not something just related to these testfiles it happens in almost all high iso files i believe different colour rendereing/demosaic would do much better.
Here are the raw files, the first one is Olympus e-pl1:
    http://hotfile.com/dl/117408120/41b0f01/P5109784.ORF.html
The second one is Olympus e-p1:
    http://hotfile.com/dl/117408591/5eab708/P5107466.ORF.html
Notice in the blue trip Samsonite bag there are much more blue blotches with the chroma noise slider at 0 (even at 25 there is a difference in Dynamic range between e-p1 and e-pl1, when all review sites clearly say that e-pl1 is a little better at high iso even in raw, and its not just because it has more detail that you can use to kill a little grain and make things equal).
Please dont post or use this photos as examples as they are not flattering... they are just for Adobe engineers or private testing by users not for posting in other forums.
So Olympus cameras and Panasonic camera sensors all exibiht this problem but i have never seen something like this.... the cameras are quite good at iso1600 except all shadows have that tint even with chroma noise sliders at 40 they never disappear ... is it possible to solve the colour demosaicing and left intact the luminance one?
Please be kind to m43 cameras since they are selling very well and i think they dont have proper support... ( i bet if this was a problem with Canon or Nikon it would be corrected in a time... we dont have coustum profiles but there is a solution for that... although for this problem we dont have better solution since its too selective and only in shadows).
By the way in Rawtherapee i have made adjustments in channel mixer (the levels of green that the blue channel has are very high; so i took a little green (and just a tiny bit of red) and the shadow areas start getting rid of the green dots, so here it is a HINT) and there were many improvements almost making them disappear... however i want to use lightroom not rawtherapee with AMAZE demosaicing.
Oh by the way look at Rawtherapee way of removing colour moiré with AMAze algorithm its fantastic it gives you detail back and no colour moire which shows a lot with e-pl1 in lightroom (but i know its because of lighter AA filter and its not a priority).
    Thanks for your help!

Well if you search in the middle of the image you will see at 100% that the open bag has those green spots where it should be gray! and near the door at bottom left of the image you will see those green spots that are very distracting because they happen in shadow areas... (and by the way the red cloth is not the same red as the e-p1 image and its noticeable even at small size).
What white balance did you use?
I know these are just test shots but they appear in people shots too..
Im going to prove that ACR interpretation of olympus auto white balance in olympus e-pl1 is just horrenduos with this raw file (by the way i use this one since its one of the ones with less publicity and with the most straight forward uploading, if you know one that is better to upload tell me please).
    http://hotfile.com/dl/117520711/fceaefb/P4248867.ORF.html
Now try white balance at 2850 and tint at 0 (things improve).
Now look at the clock.. it has a contour with the wall that is green/yellow its that kind of problem (i have noise reduction in teh color at 50 and in the detail at 25 to try to mitigate its effect but still not much luck).
Next i will go to the HSL tools in lightroom and select yellow color and select saturation tab and dial in -30 for yellow and voilá! it has reached the kind of performance that i see with e-p1 (a little worse but almost unnoticeable),.. adobe should correct this problem in lightroom 3.5 please.
then i used the split toning slider and in the shadows i dial in hue at 340 and saturation at 10 and there was a bigger reduction in the yellow spots so its the default rendering that is a mess (by the way sometimes if i reduce saturation in the green and in the blue channel it helps a little too like -30 in each) so try to correct these please, if possible by not dessaturate the channels but with an algorithm that detects only those kinds of spots and not all yellow info like you do in the red channel so well!!
    Thanks
