The add-ons tool window hangs when I click Options for any add-on

This morning, IE8 showed up as the default browser. Also, the Lastpass button was missing. When I click Tools-Add-ons and click the Options button for any add-on, the window hangs. Sometimes it hangs FF as well.

I resolved this by using a different add-on.
I was issued a new computer at work. It's a Windows 7 Dell E6410, and I was configuring a new installation of Firefox for it. I had downloaded the same URL shortening tool that I used on my old Windows XP IBM T60 computer. That add-on had the hang when you click on "Options" from the Tools > Add-ons menu. After uninstalling the add-on, I searched for a different URL shortening tool, and this one did NOT produce the hang.

  • Firefox hangs when clicking "Options" on any add-on in the add-on manager.

After the latest update the add-on manager window hangs whenever i click on the options for any add-on. The main firefox window works fine, but i am unable to to go into the options for my add-ons. Moreover, my search engines keep rearranging and disappearing. I dont know if that's relevant, but I thought I should add it too.

I installed 4 different extensions ... when I click on addon manager and click any extension "options" the whole addon manger freezes up for me as well. I can't close or escape the window. I can open another browser window but the old window with the addon manager is frozen so I must use task manager to close.
After trying many options this worked for me ... I uninstalled Adobe Flash plugin and reinstalled Shockwave Flash 11.0.1.152 ... I do not know why or how but it fixed the problem Now everything is working HURRAY!

I can't seem to get the Stumbleupon Toolbar up. Whenever I click on Options button under the Add-on window, the window freezes and i can't click on anything or even close the window. This happens when i click Options for any of my extensions. I've tried uninstalling/installing it but it doesn't seem to work. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am experiencing the same problem with the Add-on window freezing up and having to use the Windows task manager to close it down. Stumbleupon is not involved for me as I have never installed it.

However, this happens only with my account. Other users have no such problem. I have also tried going to the "Add-ons" dialogue box through "Tools" then "Options." I still cannot get into the "Add-ons" tab; the dialog box closes. I have tried using the keyboard instead of the mouse; same problem.

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> When Firefox starts : select "Show My Home Page" -> Type the address of the website which you want to be your HomePage e.g. http://www.google.com
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:

  • ITunes on Windows hangs when in ringtone editor

iTunes on Windows hangs when in ringtone editor. I get this quite often when editing a ringtone and it hangs for 1+ minutes (had it come back after 1 minute once but other times over 5 min and killed iTunes to get control again). This plus the iTunes + songs not letting you make a ringtone (they should have cought that in QA unless they skipped QA on this).
Brian -- just wanting ringtones for my iPhone.

    Try this
Go into the control panel, add/remove programs. Uninstall iTUnes, Apple mobile device service, apple application support. Then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.

There may be a problem with one of the files that stores details of installed extensions. Try deleting these files as shown in the "Corrupt extension files" section of this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
Though that article is not specifically about your problem, the method shown in the corrupt extension files section may help. When you restart Firefox after deleting those files, the list of installed extensions is rebuilt and this will hopefully fix your problem.

  • "Checking Compatability of Add-ons" Update window at each startup & redirects to a welcome page. Tried disabling all add-ons & updates / force compatability checker. Thoughts?

Each time I start Firefox a "Checking Compatibility of Add-ons" update window appears, which redirects me to a welcome to Firefox 5.0 page with my normal home page in another tab. I tried disabling all add-ons and updates as well as the force compatibility checker. I think my AVG safe-search bar might be causing the problem, but I have it disabled and never use it. Please help me get rid of this.

  • Trying to install search add-ons (top-rated, safe). I click install, restart and nothing happens. They do not appear in the search plugins folder.

Starting up with a new computer, I've been trying to install two search engine add-ons: easy youtube video downloader and
search IMDB. They are top rated so presumably safe and approved. I go through the whole process of installing them, and restart Firefox as instructed but nothing happens. I looked in the search plugins folder in Firefox (Program Files). I can see the search add-ons that were there when I first started on this computer, but none of the ones I'm trying to add are there. I've gone around and around on this repeatedly with no success. Please help.

Addon search engines aren't in the Firefox program files \searchplugins\ folder, they are in the \searchplugins\ folder in the user's respective '''Profile''' folder.

I am trying to update ipod touch from ios 4.3.2 to ios 6.1.3.  I have it connected to my computer, and the summary in itunes indicates the update is available.  However, when I click "update", it opens Windows Explorer and waits for a file name to open.

I am not at that computer now, but I did check via windows update & with the check updates menu choice in the itunes program  - neither indicated a newer version of itunes is available. (it is a vista computer).
The itunes software on the computer displays my ipod & the current ios (4.3.2), and indicates a newer ios is available (6.1.3). When I choose "update", I am taken to Windows Exploer and prompted to choose a file to open. it is as if the "update" button has the incorrect code attached to it.
The ipod is working, but there are several app I would like to install, but I can't with the current ooperating system.
