The Adobe Flash plugin keeps crashing on Firefox 12.0

The Adobe Flash plugin keeps crashing on Firefox 12.0, and my Plugin Check link in Addons Manager directs to https://www.mozilla.com/en/404 .
Is this a hack attempt? Is Firefox 3.6 safer than the release channel?

Thankss, but it sounds a bit complicated for me. Maybe I can just reinstall FF?
~And would switching back to FF 3.6 (or whatever the latest Official release is), rather than being on the new Release Channel be safer than FF 12?

• The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed! Help please.

I can't load any flash content within Firefox. I instantly get the following error: "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. Reload the page to try again.".
So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, restarted my computer, and disabled hardware acceleration all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so scratch my last response. Disabling hardware acceleration through Firefox (orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available" ) did not work however step 3B did. Following your link, right clicking on the Flash logo and disabling hardware acceleration there has fixed my issue.
Thanks!

• Error, The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. Where do I go to down load it or how do I fix it??

Error, "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed." I get this error when I try to watch a video even on YouTube. Where do I go to down load it or how do I fix it??

I'd start with disabling Hardware Acceleration, as described in the video troubleshooting guide below:
Video playback issues
If that solves the problem, make sure that your graphics drivers are current.
If it *still* happens with current drivers, please give us detailed information on the graphics card and driver, so that we can disable hardware acceleration on this configuration and start a conversation with the appropriate vendor.
The best way to get this information is to do the following (on Windows):
Open a command prompt
Type: dxdiag
Hit Enter
This should launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
Click Save All Information (or whatever that save button says).
Paste the contents into a reply here, or you can click Use Advanced Editor in the upper right of the reply window, and then attach the file using the link at the bottom right of the reply window.

Your installed plugins list shows two different versions of Flash. Use the Adobe uninstaller program to entirely remove Flash and then install the latest version.

• I often get the message "The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed / Reload the page to try again" but the plugin check page does not list Adobe Flash.

The plugin check page does list something called 'Shockwave Flash." I went to the Adobe site and downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Flash but it still does not show up on the plugin check page. I don't see how Adobe Flash can be crashing in Firefox when Firefox doesn't even know that it's installed.

Your System Details List shows the Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0 plugin as installed, so you appear to have the Flash plugin installed.
You can check the version of the current Flash player here:

What is the current setting for the Flash plugin on Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins?
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem for a while (FF 3.6.13,Win 7-32 on HP 8730w)and I cannot understand that the Mozilla foundation doesn't do anything about it.
I tried to deactivate the Skype plugin that seems to be at the head of a lot on unstability but no use.
Going to 70% of the websites with flash and having FF that hangs really sucks and I am close to re-install explorer on my PC Guys, so DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, Call the Adobe engineers and sit around a table or you will loose market share soon... :-((

• The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed

Firefox, Crome, IE and Safari keep crashing when i load youtube or other sides that use the flashplayer.
I already reinstalled my Windows (XP Home Edition) and have still this crashes.
Deinstalling & reinstalling flash didnt help too.
Shockwave - Version: 11.6.1.629
Flash  - Version: 11.0.1.152
AIR  - Version: 3.0.0.4080
And if i try to start the game League of Legends i get the following Error : "Adobe AIR Debug Launcher hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden." ( in english its something like :
Adobe AIR Debug Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close.)
Is there any info when you guys can fix this ?
many people are not able to use flashbased sides anymore and are not able to conect to Games than need the AIR tool.
*sorry for my bad english, but i hope you understand what i want to tell you*

Not quite sure if your problem is with Flash Player, or Adobe AIR, or both?
For Flash Player, can you try if the problem still exists with the 11.2 beta: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer11-2/ ?
There is also a AIR 3.2 beta if you want to try this: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/air3-2/

• I'm getting the error "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed" whenever I try and watch livestreams on Justin.tv, although any other content that requires flash works fine.

I've tried uninstalling flash and firefox separately and neither helped.

I cannot recall ever being this frustrated with my Mac and I have been faithfully using Mac for 20+ years!!
I am currently using a Macbook Pro 2.3 Ghz intel Core i7 4GB RAM Mac OSX 10.7.5
Problems encountered:
Very slow browsers chrome, safari, firefox - have tried them all in hopes of finding one that works with no luck!!
Adobe Flash crash error codes all the time.  I receive update request links from all three browsers asking me to update adobe flash software which I have done repeatedly numerous times with absolutely no success, just a waste of time and lots of frustration.
Spinning rainbow sprocket is a common thing on my macbook, drives me insane!!
I found this thread and followed the instructions to go into "System Preferences, Flash Player, selecting the Advanced tab, and delete all browser data and settings."  I then updated my Adobe Flash in my System Preferences, not the typical browser update method.
So far, this method appears to be working - will keep my fingers crossed!!!

• I just installed Firefox 8 and every time I try to go to YouTube or another other media site, everything says the Adobe Flash plugin has crashed.

• Adobe Flash Plugin keeps crashing

I can barely get 10 mins of playing a game on Facebook before I get the above message, it has happened on and off for a few months now but its getting ridiculous to try to play my game now, sometimes not loading at all.
I have noticed that it is only this game that causes it to crash, I watch You Tube and other flash using sites no problems at all.
I will add my info, any help appreciated

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
(1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily. This might not be applicable to issues with games.
(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
(B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
(3) Disable the protected mode feature. It has security benefits, but is not compatible with all systems for some reason. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file.
The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
* Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
* Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
* Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.
Any improvement?

• In addition to the adobe flash plugin crashing, i keep getting this javascript error: Bad NPObject as private data!

I am having major issues right now! My browser has slowed to a crawl. The adobe flash plugin keeps crashing while im watching vids and now I am getting this javascript error msg: Bad NPObject as private data!...I am getting this msg ALL THE TIME
What are the remedies?

Please see solution in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
for "McAfee Site Advisor".
(Windows): For best results you should uninstall McAfee Site Advisor from Control Panel > add/change programs (Programs and Features). Reboot the system. Then Reinstall from http://www.siteadvisor.com/ and reboot the system. When installing refuse other suggested (crapware) applications.

• Why does the adobe flash plugin crash whenever I try to view a video file?

When attempting to view video files, except youtube, the Adobe Flash plugin always (this is consistent) crashes. I have sent numerous crash reports. I have since the problem first occurred updated firefox at least twice and Adobe Flash has been updated the same number of times. I have not always had this problem, but now it is recurring. Note: the plugin does not crash if I use IE.

hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed and Opening PDF files within Firefox?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
Hopefully this helps!

• How do I fix the Adobe Flash plugin? It crashed.

I was on www.sparkpeople.com and I saw the sad face associated with the phrase stating that the Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. I submitted a crash report, but what if anything can I do in the meantime to help this issue get resolved?
