The Adobe Reader download - Avast says it is bad?
I just now tried to download the current Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site:
www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html
and my current (free) Avast AV software kicked up a fuss and put the Adobe Reader installer file into quarantine ( or whatever Avast calls the place where he stows files that he thinks are infected).
What's with that?
Thanks in advance for your help
OK
I switched to current Chrome from current IE11 and the download/install actually began (from that same website url, btw), so I don't know what was with AVAST.
The install detected that I already have the current version 11.0.07 installed, so it quit - so OK ( I really do have it installed).
But I got into this because I was trying to access a PDF on VA's web site VA Form 21-0958 but instead of downloading the VA PDF, it kicked up a web page that says -
"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"
Any clue why the VA site thinks I'm not using the current Adobe Reader?

I try to update the Adobe Reader and it will not let me. I have turned the Norton Security off and it still tells me that my security settings will not allow it to download. What can I do?
There's a little box that comes up on my computer after I try to update the Adobe Reader. It says: "Your current security settings will not allow this to download". So I went into my Norton Security and disabled the antivirus program. I don't even know if that was the "settings" that the message on my computer was meaning. But what has happened is when I try to use the Adobe Reader XI that is on my computer, a little box comes up on my screen that says "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded" and I'm unable to get Adobe to work.

How can I get the Adobe Reader download to accept that I have deleted Adobe 7.0?
Whenever I try to install an upgrade I get a message saying Adobe 7.0 is using the files please delete and try again. But I have deleted the files and I can't read PDF forms now. Any help would be appreciated.
Assuming you mean Adobe Reader, you may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and perform a clean install. -
I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing
Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder. -
adobe reader download problem on mac. when i try to download reader it says i need adobe air. when i try to download adobe air it says it's no longer available or supported. i deleted the old air because i got a message saying i needed to delete it. what should i do? my operating system is Mac 10.7.5
You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ -
I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.07) and installed it. Message said install successful. But APEX learning software does a check to see if my system has Adobe Reader and it says I still need to install it. What's up? This has happened to me numerous times throughout the years. I need to get to the bottom of this problem. Thanks for your help.
You still don't give us the message you are receiving. My guess: you are trying to open a PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

Adobe Reader is meant for reading pdf documents.
What is the file type that you are trying to open.
After downloading PSE 12 you need to install it to be abvle to use it.
Does it show in the list of installed programs?
If Yes then what error do you get when you try to launch the software.
Also let me know which OS are you using.

I am trying to download ebooks with with the adobe reader
I am trying to download ebooks with the adobe reader, i keep getting an error message saying it is an unsupported file. how do i correct this?
What is the format of e-books.
Adobe Reader can only open PDF files.
If you have e-books with epub format, you might need Adobe Digital Edition : http://www.adobe.com/in/products/digital-editions/download.html -
I downloaded the Adobe Reader and now can't open PDF files
I downloaded the Adobe Reader after notification on my MacBook Pro and now can't read PDF files
Yes, I was able to open PDFs until I downloaded the new version as per the alert on my MacBook Pro. I was using Adobe Reader often.
I downloaded whatever they sent me my way (11?) and my operating system is Mac05 (10.5.8-10.9 English). The message says I’ve already downloaded it. It didn’t mention file.org. I looked in my preferences and didn’t see Adobe Reader, only Flash Player.
I’m not terribly computer savvy, so I’m trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. -

I have a new hp tower running windows 8.1 and have been trying to install the adobe reader. The installer downloads (1meg) and I choose to run it but it just sits with an empty screen. I've checked task manager and it takes up memory but does nothing. After letting it run for 3-4 minutes I kill the task. What can I do to get the reader installed on this machine? I've tried using chrome, firefox and explorer and get the same results with each.
Try the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
