The AirPlay is not working at Apple TV 3rd gen
I got this Apple TV at last month, and the AirPlay is working great. And today I try to use AirPlay on my iPhone 5, as usually, and I can't find the AirPlay button in the Control Center. I reboot both of my iPhone and Apple TV but the problem still here, and my iPhone and Apple TV is at the same Wi-Fi, the AirPlay on Apple TV is turning ON.
I'm having the same problem. Worked fine one day and now it's gone. Home sharing from my computer to the apple tv has also stopped working.

This is a review I just left on the app store, I am posting it word for word, and i hope that dowsnt complicate anything. My hope is that this finds the right party to address the situation, and if any user has a fix, I would love to hear it.
I have an Mac mini running iTunes as a server, I have 2 airport expresses to allowing airplay to them for different rooms, and I also have 2 Apple TV first gens... I can play one stream of music from the server, and have the option of playing 2 other streams of music from the apple tv's as they have a built in hard drive to sync music to. I can send any of the feeds to any o the devices in any room and i love it. This whole system used to work flawlessly... It doesn't anymore. The latest update of remote broke what was working so well. I can pull it up and see all 3 music sources, log into each and play music, no problem there. The problem is that when I want to log back into that device, it won't show what music is playing. It loads up to a trackpad... Why do I need a trackpad? the point of a wifi remote is that it interfaces directly with the library, not needing to see the display... Annoying enough in itself as none of my devices are actually hooked up to a screen, but whatever, annoying point aside, I back out of the trackpad and refresh the device playing music... The music is playing, but won't show on my remote, I can't pause, press next song or anything. I have to start over and pick a song and override the currently playing song. Even the volume control is broken. I used to control each volume of each of the multiple devices individually, they each had a slider in the multiple speaker view, now there is only one master volume slider... One speaker is in my baby's room... If she is sleeping I don't want to have to go into the room to physically adjust that speaker, I want an individual slider like there was before.
I used to be very happy with this app. I'm not anymore. I used to praise apple and promote the functionality of it to all of my friends. Now I'm just embarrassed when I can't control it when they are over. Embarrassed....
As another fail.... I want to describe another point. As I have the iTunes server, it should be able to handle multiple things at once. It can to an extent... For example, I can play music from the server to an airplay device, and I can go onto my iMac, load up iTunes, click on shared libraries ad load my entire library from my server. I ca also at the same time take my iPhone, click on music, and again pull up my entire shared library of music from the wifi server... It handles this very well. I recently purchased an Apple TV 3. As it does not have a built in hard drive, it relies on content from a locally attached network or stuff from your iTunes account. So while I can use my iPhone to pull up the entire shared library while its also playing elsewhere, why can Apple TV 3 not?... It's using iOS just like my iPhone. All it was good for was airplay as an extra speaker. It wouldn't work as an extra rendered source of media using the shared library. Needless to say, that Apple TV went back to the store. Fail Apple, Fail.... That was the only reason I bought one. Maybe Apple TV 4 will actually be functional without a hard drive.Working fine on my system

Homesharing and Airplay not working on Apple TV, 3rd gen.
I have reviewed many threads, no troubleshooting, rebooting, etc. is working. From what I have read it seems that everything is set up correctly, and this is something that happened suddenly (ie: one morning it was working, by night time not working) without anything on our system/network changing.
All other functions of the Apple TV are working, and all devices are signed in with the same iTunes ID.Hi vazandrew - sorry some of the tech speak is above my head, and I don't know what 'interference' is or how to check for it . Likewise unsure about 'istumbler' or 'netstumbler'.

I'm not sure about all of the network setting information, router, etc. however it seems that if nothing changed regarding that then why would the device cease to operate properly in terms of the two problems I'm having?

Hi, I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro but cant get the mirroring function to work with Apple TV. I've got the most recent Software 10.7.5 but cant see the mirroring icon or turn this on. I'm able to mirror from my Ipad but not my Mac, any thoughts?

AirPlay Mirroring is supported on your Mac, but it needs OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
You have two possibilities:
1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion to upgrade to this OS X. Then, you will find the AirPlay Mirroring icon at the top right of the display, on the menu bar, or on System Preferences > Displays.
2. Keep OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
Both options work properly, but I recommend AirPlay Mirroring as it doesn't need a third-party program -

As the original poster, I too had issues with my iPhone 4 (4.2.1) and Apple TV 2 playing nice. The Airplay icon was visible for music, and worked perfectly. However, when watching a video, purchased through iTunes, only the "audio" option would be selectable for Airplay. After updating the Apple TV software, everything works perfectly well. When watching a video on my iPhone and selecting the Airplay icon, one of the options is to play "video" through the Apple TV, not simply audio.
It would have been nice to know that my Apple TV needed an update when I updated my iPhone 4 to 4.2.1. -

Vejan!You may or may not already have your network set up correctly, it's just that I can't tell from what you have said.
I have a main router provided by my ISP, I have several other Airport Extremes and Airport expresses connected by Ethernet, all set up to bridge the network created by the main router.
Each maker has their own settings, but bridging should be reasonably obvious. In simple terms my main router distributes IP addresses to all devices, the Airports bridge that network by passing these addresses to the devices from the main router. A base station that isn't in bridging mode will distribute its own addresses to the devices connected to it.
I don't really follow your next point.
instruction for configuration vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, the best course of action here is to refer to the manual. If everything is set up properly the addresses of everything on your network will have identical sets of numbers for the first 3 of 4 groups of numbers that make up an address, the last set must always be different. I think the part you are referring to with your DD-WRT is the option to have Ethernet and wifi bridged or not.
Some routers may be easier to configure than others, but generally speaking they should all work with the Apple TV. 5Ghz is less likely to suffer interference but it is much more likely to be blocked by solid objects, it may or may not be an advantage. -
i have att u verse modem and it wi fi was not working. So i got net gear wi fi and connected to att modem . i connected my apple TV via Ethernet cable to att uverse modem . i did not want slow down my wi fi speed. My Apple phone is on Netgear wifi .Now airplay is not working .
Make sure that the Att Modem goes to the netgear router via ethernet cable. Then connect your Apple Tv with a ethernet cable to the back of the net gear router. Airplay wants it to both be connected to the same device, usually.

I kept getting reminders to update my iphone to v6, so I did so and I am not happy! It deleted all of my apps, so then I had to reload them. Now many of the apps do not work - when I try to open them they keep asking for my apple ID and PW and when I enter this it just goes away and never opens. Anyone else had this issue?
Happened to me once awhile back. The exact same thing. What I did to get everything working again was open up itunes on PC and click on "Apps" section (not the one in your iphone section, but the one in the "Libraries" section near the top). Then proceed to totally delete all of the apps that aren't working (if it asks if you want to send to recycle bin click yes). Re-sync phone, which will remove them from the phone. And, finally, re-install them. It was a pain, but the only thing that worked. Hope it works for you. Good luck!

I recently purchased refurbished Apple TV to save few bucks, but I spend more than what I saved on refurbished one. I would suggest every one not to buy any refurbished product from Apple online store. The remote which come along with the unit is not working at all. I changed couple of batteries as I thought initially that the batteries may not be working but no success at all. I saved $14 on refurbished unit, but in total I have spend $10 to fix the issue but still it hasn't been fixed yet. I have taken an appointment for yesterday at Toronto Eaton center Apple store and again it will cost me atleast $25 again ($15 for parking and $10 for gas as I have to drive from Hamilton).

Also there is no activity on unit when I use the remote. The unit is stuck on the first page itself where we have to choose the language. The unit seems to be fine to me but the real problem is remote does'nt have activity. The IR is not responding while pressing any of the button.

Not much consolation but even new products can have issues and might need a trip to a store to return/replace.
The reason i asked about the LED on the AppleTV is that occasionally it thinks it's paired with a specific remote and ignores others - the unpair keypress I described is quick and free.
