  • Can you help me with problems from latest update of Safari and ITunes.  I can no longer delete cookies as I once did, because the security tab no longer displays the show cookies option. Can anyone please help?

I can no longer show or delete cookies from my MacBook Pro, since installing the latest update of Safari and Itunes..  Previously, I went to the security tab and clicked on the show cookies option, then opted to delete..  That option has now diappeared and a completely different security tab appears.  The tab does not show a cookies option anywhere.
Also, I can no longer see a list of my software applications without opening system profiler.
Sure would appreciate your help.  Thanks.

Safari's cookies is broken, either intentionally or it's a bug.
You can search the forums for
    safari cookies lion
and turn up plenty of threads.
If you need control over your browser cookies and other aspects of your web browser, I suggest you install Firefox.

  • Safari cookies options no longer exist in preferences

Since updating to Safari 5.1 I cannot access certain websites, receiving message "cookies disabled".  Went to Safari > Preferences> Security, to find there are not any cookie options available.

' may be old fashioned but  I get nervous when something is trying to run the shockwave plugin when I open the Security tab my browser or trying to clean out website date with the reset function. Especially when a bunch of serious security holes (arbitrary code can be executed on the local machine) have been fixed by a recent update to these plugins.
Reading about emptied Security tabs now adds to the suspiciton, I may have caught a virus introduced through some malicious shockwave content.

  • How come the switch user option is missing from my lock screen?

I upgrade to Lion my iMac Core 2 Duo and now when I lock the screen the switch user option is missing from the lock screen, you just have to cancel o renter as the original user, so that if another member of my family wants to switch and use the mac he or she cannot do it.
This is what I am talking about (image taken from a lion review): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/134544/forum/Schermata%2007-2455766%20alle%2011.05.12.pn g
The switch user option is totaly absent, I just have the cancel.
It that a bug or what?
Please note this happens only when I lock the screen from the screensaver, i.e. requesting the password to restart from the screensaver, if I get to the login windows all users appears correctly and people can switch back and forth.
    Thank you.

I just talked to apple support.  They said Lion doesn't support this feature.  They gave me a work-around, which was to disable requiring a password in the screen saver.  Then enable user switching so it appears in the top right of the banner.  Note that since the screen saver no longer locks the screen, in order to actually lock the screen the user must click on the upper right user list and select something like "Login user...".
This issue has left me disappointed with apple for a few reasons.  Hopefully someone at apple will take note:
    1. Apple removed a useful feature.
    2. Apple did not provide a response to this thread which would have been the best forum to inform users of this change.  It would have saved me and apple one long phone call.

  • I updated to 6. In Tools, blocked cookies and now can never open Firefox. The allow cookies window is stuck. How do I get rid of the firefox browser and go back to 5. I did have malware on computer that was removed, but still ...not working

On Saturday, Sept. 3, I updated to Mozilla Firefox 6. I went into the Toolbar, I think to private browsing, but not sure now. I asked that all cookies be blocked. A window came up from my home page that said "Allow, Allow this session only, Deny Cookies." I said Deny and it told me 19 cookies were being blocked. I have never been able to get the window to leave the browser home page. In fact, I can not make any choice in that window. The window kind of shakes. I went for professional help and did have malware that I had not known was there that was removed. Technician worked 3 hours. It was called "PUM.Hijack.Start." The Mozilla browser is still stuck like that. I am on Internet Explorer, but I would like to have Firefox back again. What steps do I take next?

I am having a similar problem. Running Xp.
    Latest revision of firefox.
After using firefox for a while if I exit, parent.lock is locked and i have to reboot to reload firefox.
I have killed all firefox applications from task manager (usually there are none). and I have tried 3 different "file unlock" programs including unlocker to no avail.
I also recently installed a program that shows -all- open files, and parent.lock is not listed, and thus not closable/unlockable from there.

  • The File Menu options is missing in PSE v9?

I called support a year or more ago and they provided a fix.  This was after i first upgraded.  Now I have had to reinstall the OS on my PC and re-install PSE downloaded from site.
No File menu!  Can you Help?

Lots of information.  But it noe of it provided a solution to my problem.  In fact I had the problem of no File menu when I first bought PSE 9.
As a new customer for that version, I was eligble for support via a live person.
They gave me a fix and voila!  There was the file menue with about a dozen menu options including seach, get photos from camera, import, export, create new catalog, and more.
I did not forsee that my system would eventually crash and require a re-image.  And new install of PSE.  When I did so the file functionality was missing again but I did not save the instructions.  Been a little over a year.

  • I have a mid 2011 macbook air and a new Apple TV but I can't mirror. What's the problem? I have checked display settings and I don't have the "allow mirroring" option there.

    What is the problem?

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

  • Energy Saver Options Tab missing from System Preferences Pance

Recently I upgraded with Combo Update Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on my Mac Pro and now I find that I have no Options Tab in the Energy Saver Pane of System Preferences. All the options that used to be available there cannot now be accessed. Sleep\Wake is functioning fine, and I can't remember what settings I had or even used. It has not been critical for me so I rarely check these options. It is possible that the tab disappeared when I applied the latest Security Update a few days ago - I'm not sure. Since the big weekend storm here I want to use the automatic restart after power failure feature that I think lived behind that tab. Thanks for any help.

I should say that I rarely, if ever, use the lower missing options mentioned above. If I am accessing the Mac Pro from my other local computers I just wake up the Mac Pro. And I can't ever remember wanting my computer to restart after a power failure. If we have a power failure in this area, it is likely to come back on and then just as suddenly go off again. Not a good thing, I would imagine, for delicate electronics. Usually I wait 30 minutes to an hour after the power resumes in my home before powering up any electronic equipment.
I do wonder why the options disappeared though.

  • Safari  'block cookies' option not working

In Safari preferences > privacy there are 3 options for Block cookies
    • 3rd parties
    • Always
    • Never
I wish to have the "never" option selected because some websites I use wont work otherwise.
However, I can not change this option because Safari always changes it back.
    This is what is happening...
I open Prefs > Privacy & the box "3rd Parties" is ticked, but after about 2 seconds it changes to "Never"
I close the window & open it again, its back to "3rd Parties" & again afer a second or so it changes to "Never"
I have quit safari, I have trashed the plist - the behaviour is the same.

The fifth paragraph of your post appears to contradict the third.   I'm confused!
In that third paragraph you say you wish to have the never option selected.   Why.   You will expose yourself to all manner of rubbish that way.  Then in the fifth you say it keeps coming back to never (which in effect says never has been selected successfully).  I don't wish to be picky, you understand, just be sure I grasp what you mean.
Have you read the page linked to the purple question mark (bottom right of Safari > preferences > security).   On sites you visit, the third party option allows for cookies to be placed by the site you are on so you should have no problem in that respect.

  • Delete cookies option is gone

My daughter used my macbook pro and since then the safari icon was gone, which I have it back now but when I go to Safari>preferences> Security , the delete cookies option is gone. How do I get that option to delete cookies back?

Try one tab to the right, PRIVACY...

  • Accept cookies option

The accept cookies option in the security menu no longer appears under block pop up windows.  how do i get it back so I can remove cookies?

Look at the Setting right above cookies, do you have Private Browsing turned ON?  If so, try turning it OFF.

  • I had to boot my iMAC and now the FF 'cookies' folder is always always empty. How can I undo this? TNX

My iMAC had the 'twirling circle' and I had to restart my Mac.
After that, when I went to FireFox, (Preference -> show cookies), the show cookies (with the delete cookies option) comes up - but had no cookies listed.
I KNOW hotmail won't work with out them and yet even in hotmail the cookies 'page' is blank.
I did another 'restart' but the cookies 'page' stays blank.
My concern is malware or virus.
    Thanks for your help.

It is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • Have an iMac (early 2008).  Safari worked fine.  I could watch videos on YouTube.  I downloaded 10.9.2 and You Tube videos will no longer load on Safari, but I have no trouble viewing using Firefox.  I wonder if the new 10.9.2 download corrupted Safari?

Do I have a Safari problem?  Since downloading 10.9.2 Safari no longer loads YouTube videos on my iMac.  Firefox downloads the same videos from YouTube with ease.

    Safari > Preferences > Security > Internet Plug-ins
Checkmark the box beside "Allow Plug-ins".
    Best.
