The Amazing Disappearing RSS Feeds

I opened Mail, and the RSS text-icon was no longer present. I was initially quite shocked & upset, as I spent quite some time transfering dozens off RSS feeds from Vienna to Mail. I quit & reopened Mail, and no luck. I then clicked 'Add RSS Feeds', and then 'cancel', and walla, the RSS text-icon reappeared automagically.
Yay for interface bugs = ]

I have the same issue, not only was it a pain in the katookus to upgrade (Horrorshow really, though I learned a lot), But now I have NO RSS feeds what(so)ever, regardless. I receive the "Mach Error-308" in Safari, Mail app shows me the RSS folder etc but otherwise stares back at me with a blank expression like my dog. I've checked and rechecked the RSS preference in Safari but that don't do squat. I thought it may be the fact that I'm trying to squeeze out more from this old laptop than it could handle, but it sounds like folks with the latest and greatest are tripping over this Leopard's tail.
Is there anything that can be done, short of reverting to 10.4, to get our RSS feeds back? I don't care which program I read them on, though I do believe RSS in mail is unnecessary and cluttersome.

  • Disappearing RSS feeds

My RSS feed folder keeps appearing and disappearing for no particular reason. I recently had six weeks' stability of viewing the feeds on my MacBook Air while abroad. When I returned home I noticed that the RSS folder on my iMac was missing. As soon as MobileMe synchronised the folder also disappeared from the Air's Mail application. I can see no reason for this and it is very annoying. Anyone have a solution?

  • The enclosure in RSS feed doesn't work for Itune

I subscribed to my podcast rss feed to ITune, which was valid and had been tested successfully with other aggregator such as Ipodder, however, it doesn't work for ITune. When I hit "get" button next to my podcast name, I always get "!" sign in front of the name, and when I clicked it, I got error message "There was a problem downloading 'XXXXX'. The network connection could not be made".
I'm not sure if this problem resulted from the "rewrite" function I used on my podcasting server in order to track the downloading. Here is how it works: When a mp3 file is requested, my web server will redirect the request to another asp.net program to do something and then redirect to the real mp3 file for downloading. Can it be problem in Itune? But I can use this enclosure url to download this mp3, and also the Ipodder works file with this rss feed.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your reply.
However, according to the iTune specs as following,
    Tracking Usage
Please note that iTunes does not provide usage statistics. Some podcasters have created mechanisms for tracking the number of times that each episode has been downloaded. iTunes does not provide support in how to track downloads, but the following notes may be helpful:
    * 302s will be followed to a depth of 5 redirects and will not update the feed URL in the directory.
    * The URL before the GET-style form values (before the first ?) must end in a media file extension (e.g. mp3). To work around this, the feed provider can alter their URL from this:
    http://www.podcaster.com/load.php?f=&Wipeout.php
    to this:
    http://www.podcaster.com/load.mp3?f=&Wipeout.mp3
Notice how it says load.mp3 instead of load.php. It should be possible to accomplish this via various means, such as web server rewrites. iTunes looks at the extension of the path part of the url, i.e. the part before the”?”.
The http request redirection is allowed as long as the appropriate file extension such as ".mp3" is used.
By the way, I tested it with "no redirection" version, which worked fine.

  • FireFox cutting the words at the margin on RSS feed posts on google sites.

I inserted some RSS feeds on my google site and the posts do not appear completely, the words are cut on the right margin. The posts appear completely with the IE browser.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
Is that text supposed to wrap or is something else wrong like a larger font?

  • I cannot find the list of RSS feeds so I can delete one. I import into Outlook where I deleted the feed, but can't reload the RSS feed.

When I use Explorer, there is a place that lists all my RSS feeds which I can delete, open, etc.. I cannot find a similar location on FireFox.
There is a RSS feed that I am having problems downloading to my Outlook and I would like to delete the feed & reload. (I have deleted from my Outlook.).
Any suggestions on where I can find a list of my RSS feeds?

Firefox doesn't keep a special list of RSS feed items.<br />
Those are treated like all other bookmarks and are managed in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).
    * Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
IE stores each favorite as a separate folder on the hard drive and probably needs a special handling for its feed items, but Firefox stores the bookmarks and history in one database file places.sqlite.
So if you haven't placed all RSS feed items in one bookmarks folder or have otherwise tagged them then it will be difficult to locate them all.

  • The amazing disappearing podcasts!

I manually manage my podcasts and have it set to only keep the newest episode. For some reason, I always lose the next to last episode when I update. For example, let's say a podcast has 5 episodes (1 being the oldest and 5 being the newest) and then the podcaster posts #6. I hit update (either by option clicking the individual podcast or by using the master update button) and #6 downloads. After it's done, #5 disappears! So now, I can only see 1,2,3,4 (greyed out) and 6. If I do it again next week for #7, I'll only see 1,2,3,4 (grey still) and #7, but will lose #6. If I delete the podcast and resubscribe, they all appear just fine -- until my next update. My wife's computer, running the same OS, doesn't do this. Weird, huh? Thoughts?
Powerbook g4 1.25   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   All software up to date

Are you expecting (using your numbering scheme)
episode 1 to disappear from the list? The "keep
newest" setting won't affect episodes that aren't
downloaded (1-4), only episodes on your system (5-6).
Deleting episode 5 is the correct action.
But episode 5 should still be listed and greyed out underneath the now current episode 6. I'm saying that 5 just disappears so I don't even have the option to "get episode" individually if I so choose.

  • The Amazing Disappearing Design notes

Every day I go into Site Definitions and add Design Notes to

This seems to be a problem that many of us are facing after update 1.0.2. Check the discussions on this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1099428&tstart=0 Apple must have increased the power to the Wireless radio, and the antenna to increase the reliability of connections and reduce call drop, thereby causing battery life to reduce. We have reported it to apple, and hopefully, this should be fixed in the next update. As of now, after performing the reset/charge dance as described in the thread about, my phone stands at 1 hour 22 minutes of usage and 1 day 16 hours of standby with 80% charge remaining.

  • The Amazing Disappearing animations

I opened an existing project to make an addition that the SME
wanted. It requires that I add a bit of audio (which works fine)
and a couple of highlight boxes to one slide. I added the highlight
boxes, set the timing and transparency, previewed in edit mode and
it works perfectly. If I preview the project the highlight boxes
will not show. I made sure they were not residing in the background
for some reason by bringing them to the front and made sure they
each had the fade in and out transition I wanted. I checked slide
properties, nothing there. So I deleted them and added them again.
No luck. I closed Captivate and reopened. No luck. I deleted them
again and replaced them with arrow animations. They won’t
show either, except in edit mode and they preview just fine there,
timing and all. I deleted them and replaced them with text boxes.
Still no luck, they don't show either, except in edit preview.
Everything I try is invisible in preview project mode, but okay in
the edit mode preview. All of this happens on one slide. The other
    slides are fine.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Bmac99,
It's hard to know for sure, but it sounds like you probably
have a click box or button somewhere on that slide that is pausing
the timeline before the playhead hits your highlights. In Edit
mode, when you play through the timeline (e.g. use the spacebar or
F3), the pause actions are ignored. When you preview or publish the
file, the pause actions will be working and the timeline won't
advance until you do the necessary action such as click the click
    box or button.
If this doesn't help solve your problem, reply back with more
details and I (or other forum users) can try to help further.
    Best wishes,
    Aaron

  • I just wanted to know how to stop loading of rss feeds automatically ? In prior to FF 11 the rss feeds would display if there was no internet connection

I just wanted to know how to stop loading of rss feeds automatically ? In prior to FF 11 the rss feeds would display if there was no internet connection but now in newer version it would say live bookmark failed to load and doesn't display any feeds, in previous version it would atleast display feeds but in newer version it won't display anything:(

hello Nitin1234, the handling of live bookmarks was changed quite fundamentally starting in firefox 13 & upwards in order to improve the overall performance of the browser - now rss feeds won't get updated in the background anymore but will only be fetched when you're actively accessing them. this is probably leading to the unwanted side-effect that you're experiencing, unfortunately i don't know any way around that.
nevertheless please [[Update Firefox to the latest version|update firefox to the latest version]] (16.0.1 at the moment) to stay secure on the web, since there have been many [https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html highly critical vulnerabilities fixed] since firefox 11/13!

  • Can't see RSS feeds in Mail

I've subscribed to a couple of RSS feeds in Mail (multiple times because it doesn't seem to be taking) and I'm not seeing anything about RSS in my sidebar. Is there a trick to getting them to show up and being able to read them within Mail?

OK... Back again - this is driving me crazy. I see SEVERAL posts of people having the same issues as me, but I do not see any real answers (in posts, Apple support, or just plain Google).
I do have more information though:
I now have the issue that RSS feeds either stop updating, update and bring back several old posts that I have already deleted (and cleared from the deleted messages), and RSS links disappearing and RSS showing an error (~) next to it, and finally the RSS section disappearing altogether.
I have read some suggestions to go into Finder and delete the SubPubAgent.plist file under the user directory (done that, now it has not reappeared), and to Quit the SubPubAgent process in Activity Monitor, and restart Mail (Have done this SEVERAL times, and it seems to "change" things, but doesn't fix anything). The one thing here that seems to throw up a red flag is that the SubPubAgent process shows 3 threads, and when things are going ok, it looks like it has a Virtual Memory usage of ~30MB - when things go haywire the Virtual Memory shoots up to just under 600MB, at which point I will have received the several old posts, feeds stop updating, or all the feeds just go away in the middle of my session. This 600MB Virtual Memory amount seems to be a limit that something dealing with RSS feeds is "trying" to exceed, and Mail cant handle it. But no matter how many times I try to delete messages to bring things down, they just keep coming back the next time I restart Mail.
ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any support, and take care!
    Jeff

  • Lenovo System Update and Lenovo Support RSS Feed (X60)

Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.
On the other hand I also have the Lenovo Support RSS Feed. But they bring me to dead links. For my X60 the two drivers in my RSS Feed are
ThinkVantage Access Connections patch for Access Connections Version 5.95 for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-...
    Patch module for Power Manager for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad -
    Both are totally dead links.
The tricky part is that there is absolutely no correlation between the two: totally different drivers in the System Update and the RSS Feed.

    Hello both,
SU has been discontinued because old SU version wouldn´t work with SP2.
Refer to this thread in at the ThinkVantage board regarding this situation and possible solutions

  • How can I transfer RSS feeds from one PC to another?

I have an old laptop using WinXP with Firefox installed and a significant number of RSS feed tabs.
I have a new laptop using Win7 Home Premium 64-bit with Firefox installed. I now want to copy the collection of RSS feeds on my old laptop to my new laptop.
    Thank you!

You can backup the bookmarks to an HTML file and import that file in the new laptop.<br />
You will have to remove the unwanted bookmarks and only keep or copy/move the RSS feed bookmarks to the folder where you want them.
