The amount of plastic that creative spew out with their products

check this:
re: inspire T600 speaker system.
the cardboard box protects what's inside.
there are 2 more boxes inside that, protecting what's inside.
inside these boxes are plastic bags, even tho the speakers are located within cutouts...they ain't movin'...
these speakers are inside a plastic bag.
each speaker has a plastic protecti've strip just protecting the edge of the speaker, nothing more...inside the plastic bag, inside the box which is inside the outer box.
on top of that, for some reason, they wrap the signal cable in plastic so well, so tight you need to very carefully run a knife down the sellotape that seals it, incase you split the cable, or cut your fingers open...this is stupid.
oh and the little speaker stands?

this is silly and WASTEFUL, let alone giving us hoops to jump thru...it's taken like 30 mins just to plug some speakers in...
the speakers themselves are good...they sound good with my x-fi...even if the design is rather silly in that they are rather tall so they have quite a bad centre of gravity and can topple easily...the attachable speaker base helps a bit, but does not have a large enough footprint to compensate for the high COG.
shame the packaging is so awful.

why would they get "comestic defects" (scratches, in english) when they are packed properly?
well they can still get damaged or get comestic defects when they are being transported or shipped around the world. I guess creative is just being more cautious when protecting the content inside. if you think there are too many wasteful plastic being used, you can always recycle or make use of the plastic into other good uses.
