The amount of possible songs lowered

well yah
the thing is i plugged my ipod into another computer with about 774 songs (somewhere there) and i had like 100 mb left in my 4 gig.
then when i plugged it in my own computer it erased all the songs (why does it do that anyway?)
i tried to restore all the songs back, but then i was left with 50 mb left when i only had 720 songs in there. i think the "other" amound highered again.
is there a way to
1) get rid of the "other" w.o redoing my ipod
and
2) does the ipod lose memory space over a long period of time?!?!??!?!?!?!?

1) Stop loading items that fall under Other such as calendars and contacts or album art.
2)No.
"then when i plugged it in my own computer it erased all the songs (why does it do that anyway?)"
To prevent folks from stealing music from another computer and adding it to their own collection. This is accomplished by only allowing the iPod to belong to one library.
The number of songs isn't constant, the memory is. If songs are shorter or encoded at a lower quality, then more will fit in the same space (744 with 100 MB left). If they are longer or encoded at a higher quality, they will take up more (720 songs with 50 MB left).
Finally:
I don't even know what to do with that

  • I have entered my iTunes code, but am unable to use the amount on my card to purchase songs in my wish list

Because of a past experience with fraudulant charges with Apple, I wish now to pay for my downloads with an iTunes card.  I purchased one for $20, logged on to my account, entered the "redeem" code that was on the new card, and then went into the iTunes store and added songs to my wish list.  When I was finished, I pushed the "Buy All" button to purchases all the songs on my wish list, which totaled less than the amount shown on my account that I had downloaded from my iTunes card. But I found myself in this "loop" of needing to sign into my account (which I already was because it displayed my name) and then it would ask for the "redeem" code.  When I would once again enter that same code from the back of my iTunes card, it told me it was unable to use it because that code had already been redeemed.
Yes, I had loaded that into my account, and it still showed the full amount of the card value next to my name.  That did not change or show it being reduced by the amount I had wanted to purchase from my wish list, so I knew I still have that amount sitting in my "bank" waiting to be spent.
How do I access it, or better yet,  get out of this loop of log in/redeem/already redeemed mess.

Click on the "Start" button. Click "Run." Type the word "cmd" in the open box. When the DOS screen comes up, type "netsh winsock reset." Press "Enter." Type "exit" to close the DOS window and go back to Windows.
    Restart the computer.

  • Is it possible to restart a download from the amount downloaded previously?

Is it possible to restart a download from the amount downloaded previously?
When I download some lectures from iTunes U, sometimes the link breaks and the download gets interupted. Then when the download is resumed it starts from 0 KB and not from the KB amount that was downloaded when the download was interupted. Is there a way to resume the download from the point it was interrupted?

Well I'm using 9.0.3.1.5 and I STILL have this same problem.
Not sure if location is a factor, but I'm a US resident with a US iTunes account but I spend most of my time in Asia and I know a LOT of folks in India, UAE, etc with it. Everything else in iTunes works perfectly fine, except resuming non-purchased downloads.
On Apple Support I could only find a solution related to Purchased downloads, but not individual unsubscribed podcasts you clicked GET on or free iTunesU content. These still go back to zero with no option to resume only restart.
I mean, every quality download manager for your web browser gives you a consistent experience in resuming almost any download except very few servers on the Internet with specific policies to not allow resumes. If there is no solution just silence, either this is one of those mysterious come-and-go bugs that are hard to replicate or maybe iTunes is conserving bandwidth by discouraging resumes of free content it doesn't make money on. Especially 100MB+ files from folks in places with reliable but slower "3rd world" connections. So I would with a half bitten lip throw an answer your question as NO, it is not possible.
I do hope someone who thinks they have a solution steps in to say Yes, it would make a lot of people very happy.

I could not find any way to do that. There is no way access the song information like you do through iTunes.

    Hi charlatan19,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand the need to free up space on your iPhone sometimes. Please use the attached article that explains how to delete content from your device directly or using your computer.

  • Is it possible to raise the bit rate of songs higher than 256 on iTunes? If not what should i use or do to raise the bit rate of songs?

Is it possible to raise the bit rate of songs higher than 256 on iTunes? If not what should i use or do to raise the bit rate of songs?

Songs you rip from CD can have their bitrate increased to a maximum of 320Kbps from the iTunes preferences; alternatively, the default encoder can be changed to a lossless one. Songs from other sources have a fixed maximum bitrate.

  • Any way to limit the amount of songs..

    Hi,
I have an iPod mini and a nano and I'd like to use them both on the same system. I know the mini holds more songs than my 2gb nano so I was wondering if there was a way to limit the amount of songs that I can put into iTunes so I can have an equal amount of songs on both iPods, up to the 500 limit of the nano or would I just have to create seperate playlists? Thanks.

Making a few Smart playlists can help you solve the problem.
You can limit the number of songs, MB, GB etc. by checking 'limit to'.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to size a flash chart based on the amount of data returned?

My chart is based on a date range. If a user enters say a range of one year, I need the line chart to be rather large so show all the data points. Though if they select just a week, then the chart can be much smaller. I only see the hard coded values to set the size of the chart (Chart Width and Chart Height). Can those be changed on the fly based on the amount of data returned?
Using Application Express 3.1.2.00.02 and AnyChart 3.3
    Thanks.

    Hello Hillary,
I tried your suggestion, but still not working for me. I added hidden text field that wold hold the vaule of the width for the chart. Then I reference that field in the chart source. Is there some other property I need to change as well? Any more suggestions? Thanks.

  • Is your iPod not fitting the amount of songs advertised

    You must convert to ACC.
Open iTunes and go to preferences andclick Advance then importing Then the "import using" then select ACC encoder, and x out of preferences then select all your songs, right click and select Uncheck selection, and select only your imported songs not your purchased songs and right click your selection and click convert to ACC and let it sit for a long long time. When it's done go and delete all the unchecked songs but don't delete your purchased (they won't be checked) when your done deleteing is done put those new songs onto your iPod and you should beable to put more songs on.

Last but not least, when Apple quotes a specific capacity for any iPod, that capacity is based on the average 4 minute song imported in AAC @ 128kbps. I don't believe anyone has only songs that last exactly 4 minutes in their libraries. Therefore, another reason that the iPod will not hold exactly the stated number of songs.

  • I have just over 100gig of music in my iTunes library plus what ever else I add in the future. Because of the amount I had to save my music library on an external drive as my laptop did not have the memory to hold it all. I want to back up my iTunes libra

I have just over 100gig of music in my iTunes library plus what ever else I add in the future. Because of the amount I had to save my music library on an external drive as my laptop did not have the memory to hold it all. I want to back up my iTunes library and save it on a different external drive, one I store all my back ups on. Is this possible? If so how can I do it?

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

  • How can I reduce the amount of storage a shared photo stream is taking on one of my devices

I have over 8000 photos on the Cloud in various shared photostreams.  They all appear on all my devices which is great.  The devices show the photos using about 1GB of memory unless I plug into iTunes when it reveals they are in fact using circa 15GB!!  This is ok on the devices with large memory capacity but one of my 'phones is only 16GB in total and is now full.
If I try to delete a photostream on this phone it threatens to delete the photostream on all my devices.
It would appear that my cloud storage for photostream is limited by the device with the least memory.
Any ideas on solutions gratefully received.  Buy a new phone with more memory or delete some of the photostreams are the sub optimal ideas I have at present.
Also why is the usage understated on the devices and only revealed when I plug in to iTunes?
    Many Thanks
    D

I'm not sure there is a solution to your question, other than to not keep so many photos on your devices.  If you delete a photo from photo stream, it will delete it from all your devices.  To keep them, first save them to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  However, given the number of photos you have, a much more practical solution would be to transfer them to your computer using an app like PhotoSync, which will select them all at once and transfer them over wifi.
I'm not sure why you're seeing such a discrepancy in the amount of space taken up by your photos.  It's possible that something is corrupt given the large number of photos on your device.

  • How to get the number of my songs, videos listed?

How can I get the numbers of my songs, and videos, and podcasts listed in the "About" section (Settings> General> About>)
I get the number of applications listed for apps and photos, but despite having videos, podcasts, and songs on my iPad they are not indicated as 0!
I have iPad1 with 32GB, but get only 29GB as capacity listed in the "About" section. This basically means the iPad OS is using 3GB of space, wow is this correct!

I don't know of any settings.
You can try a reset: Press and hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds until the Apple appears. Then allow the ipad to restart and then recheck the count of files.
Not sure why the ipad takes up differing amounts of memory. See if it changes with the reset. I don't think it will, but I don't know for sure.
