The Apple Support Communities site is malfunctioning

I typed out a very long post about problems with a disk image. After clicking post, I got an error message saying that I do not have access to post this content. All the text I had entered was lost!
I was the one who posted the "emergency broadcast system" thing. About two minutes after posting, I got an email from Apple saying that you removed it. :-P I was just trying to see if the site would accept my post before I retyped my it. It's probably wise to type it into Pages first so I don't lose everything again. <sigh> Please try to resolve this ASAP.

you have basically answered your own issue - when creating a NEW Question - and in anticipation of it being long - do it external and paste it
The reason why you were stymied the first time is a known (by many here, but not by new folks) glitch - your session was Timed Out because of perceived inactivity. Oddly, a long REPLY session PREVENTS being logged out! So, external editor is NOT necessary for replies.
When you say "I got an email from Apple saying that you removed it" - you must understand that we are NOT Apple - just users helping users. Without seeing the post that was removed, I can't say what about violated the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use. ⬅ accessible at the bottom of all forum pages - sometimes our gracious Hosts are strict and others lax.
see you around

Thanks; I may be wrong of course, but I thought para. 12 was there all along and only 13 was added (which, FWIW, is an excellent idea in my humble opinion). Also, the ToU are available by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page here.

• How do I uncheck "This solved my question" on the Apple Support Communities forum?

I checked an answer as "this solved my problem" when it actually did not, and I don't want anyone to be mislead.
How do I uncheck "This solved my question" on the Apple Support Communities forum?

You can't uncheck it. You'll need to post the question again.
You could also just add the comment that it was not actually answered.

• How to I stop getting email from the Apple Support Communities?

How do I stop getting email from the Apple Support Communities? I am being innundated with hundreds of emails daily. Help~~

If you are getting them from a forum as a whole (as opposed to just individual threads), then towards the top right of that forum page make sure that it says 'receive email notifications' in the Actions box :
If it says 'stop email notifications' then click on it so as to stop them

• How do I unsubscribe from the Apple Support Communities?

Please advise me on how to unsubscribe from the Apple Support Communities.

Click here and turn off the email notifications. If you don't want them all turned off, go to each of the areas you want to unfollow and click the Following button at the top right corner; if you're running ad-blocking software, you may need to temporarily disable it.

• Here's what changed in the 'Apple Support Communities Use Agreement'

The terms for this website were revised 24 April 2014; they were previously revised 7 May 2013; they were previously revised 6 April 2011.
If you'd like to know exactly what changed, see this 'diff', which shows exactly what changed.
Basically, Apple just added this (as points 12 and 13 to the 'General' section :
If you provide any ideas, suggestions, or recommendations on this site regarding Apple’s products, technologies or services (“Feedback”), Apple may use such Feedback and incorporate it in Apple products, technologies, and services without paying royalties and without any other obligations or restrictions.

• Do all questions in the Apple Support Communities get answered?

I asked a question with high detail on Feb 1, 2014 at 7:16 PM. I have checked many times, and there are still no replies. I am curious as to whether questions eventually disappear or are deleted? The URL to my question is Here. Also, how long should it be until I recieve an answer? I am also curious as to whether my question is marked as answered; I replied to it with some extra information and I think that because it shows up with one reply that people may think that it has been answered. D: Any ideas?

Added a space between "people" and "may" as it appeared as "peoplemay".

Curious as to what you had asked, I clicked on 'here' but the original question did not appear; instead I found the edit request.
For anyone interested, I found it under your profile ... the link being ...
iPod Touch 5th Generation not showing...: Apple Support Communities
One other matter to consider is the subject itself. When you post in a popular column, that post will move down the list far more quickly than in a specialist area. Of course, the question needs to be posted where it will receive attention from the gurus.

• Why can't I sign in to the Apple Support Communities on my iPhone?

I was able to sign in on my iPhone and then I plugged it in to my computer and did a Restore + Update and now I am unable to sign in? When trying to sign in on my iPhone after clicking 'Sign in' the page reloads and goes back to the Apple Support Communitys home page.
I can still sign on on a computer (using it now) but i would really like to view it from my iPhone.

Update: Managed to fix this by going into Settings > Safari, then under Privacy & Security i changed 'Block Cookies' from 'Always' to 'From Third parties and advertisers'
Not sure how the setting was changed from its default but yeah.
After this I was able to sign straight in with no problems!

• My deepest thanks to everyone in the Apple Support Communities

I am a 74-year-old newby to the world of Mac. I have always had to use Windows based PCs at work. After I retired, I purchased a beautiful 27" iMac and I realize that until now, I was only working with half a computer. Three times I needed to submit a question to the Support Communities, and I was greaty impressed not only by the speedy responses, but by the friendliness and knowledge of all who helped me. I don't mean to put down Microsoft, but whenever I submitted a question to their groups, IF it got answered, it was always with another question. I was never able to get a direct answer. Also the people were rather snobby and liked to show off how little you knew. I always felt like it was a private clique and I was intruding. Once, I had to call Apple for assistance and I was so impressed by the help and care I was shown. In fact, I received a call the next day as a follow-up. Don't ever try to call Microsoft for assistance. You are told at the start to have your credit card ready.
My deepest thanks to everyone. I love My new mac, and moreover, I love the help and frendliness I have gotten from the Communities. Thanks to all of you.
Sid

Thank you for your kind reply.
There is a strong user to user community here to assist others with the best interest at heart.
You are told at the start to have your credit card ready.
Same thing occurs with Apple after three months unless you bought the AppleCare (you can buy it up to 1 year after original date of machine purchase) which will then give you three years (from the date of machine purchase) of care and warranty.
Apple is a business and support costs a lot of money in human effort so it's understandable.
I really advise getting AppleCare if you haven't already.

• Why doesn't the Apple support communities homepage work with an iPad?

You can't scroll. Why would apple create a site that doesn't work as intended using one of their own products?

That was fast and it works! I never knew you could do this. Learn something every day! Thanks ! Does this always work for scrolling in situations like this or does the page need to encoded in some way?

• Is there some value to bookmarking discussions in the Apple Support Communities?

I can't seem to find any means to directly return to a bookmarked discussion. I'm referring here to the bookmark icon that appears in the upper right of a discussion window. I was hoping that there would be a means of viewing my collected discussion bookmarks to quickly return to a topic that I found useful. But I can't find a view of my profile that shows the topics I've bookmarked. Nor does there appear to be a way to filter discussions by your chosen bookmarks.
And BTY - there is no mention of using these bookmarks in the tips for new users of the support forums.

A lot of folks find the Your Stuff | 25th Floor page a good place to call "Home" - you seem to have exploration skills, so poke around there a lot
The SiteWare designers seem to feel the [ Activity ] tab - and the [ Content ] tab in particular to be their idea for a user's current events
I personally use Browser Bookmarks as I find them handier and faster.

• Why didn't the Apple Support Communities take me back to the question I was looking at after I logged in? Now I have to find it again???

That's the whole question... Cmon people, any reasonable support site or forum or blog takes you back to the place you were looking at before you login. Why does Apple's take me to the home page??? Not smart. Not thinking (different or otherwise). Not usable.

Note: I selected the response based on the highest level of humor.
What irks me is that on some bad sign-in forum sites, when you hit the back arrow, and hit refresh, it "forgets" you just signed in. At least Apple does that part right. But still it should remember your "intent" in signing in in the first place.
Actually, of course really there should be a reply button which brings up a login/signup popup which uses modern technology (like Sproutcore, or is it Ember.js eh?) to keep you in context while doing this dynamic operation which totally doesn't need to have an SEO value... You know?
