The application HPIO trap monitor quit unexpectedly?/??

I just updated to Leopard and I repeatedly get the error message box that says "The application HPIO trap monitor quit unexpectedly" Then it gives me three choices..ignore which keeps it offf for a few minutes and then it pops back up, report, same thing and relaunch..it immediately comes back. Does anyone know what the HPIO trap monitor is and what I can do to stop this super annoying box from popping up ? btw Happy New Year

It's the startup item associated with an HP printer—HP input/output trap monitor. Your best bet is to reinstall the latest HP software available for your printer. I'm running an HP PSC 1510 AIO and the trap monitor daemon isn't crashing. Downloads at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=4 28800&os=219&lang=en&

    Help
I installed driver from HP for my version 10.5.8 and I now get the above message popping up every 5 seconds and I cannot get the printer to work. How can I remove this message and get printer to work wirelessly? I have removed all the files (HP) I can find and restarted comupter but message keeps coming up.
    I am very frustrated.

This can depend on whether your iMac running Leopard 10.5.8 is an older PPC (G4 or G5) iMac or a post-2006 Intel based iMac.
They would need different printer drivers - check with HP that you have the right one.

  • Problem re-installing my HP photosmart C4280, HPIO Trap Monitor quits

I had my HP C4280 installed on my intel Mac and it worked fine. We moved and I did nothing more than disconnect it, when I set my Mac back up the printer wouldn't work. So, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it then right after the software installed I got a pop up box that read, the application HPIO Trap Monitor quit unexpectedly, I reported it to Apple and then I couldn't finish the installation process because when it says to choose your printer from the list, there is nothing on the list. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and get the same results. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give.
    Thanks, Lee

Well we are at 10.4.11 right now and 10.4.6 if I recall correctly was a nasty version. I'm running CS2 on 10.4.11 with no constant crashing. You always have the one off goofy crash every once in a while.

  • Using Gimpshop - the application gimp-2.2 quit unexpectedly

    Hi there,
When I try to open the gimp.app program, first a window pops up that says "caching fonts" and another window with a header 'xterm' comes up and in the xterm window it says "bash-3.2$".
After a minute or so, the "the application gimp-2.2 quit unexpectedly" message appears.
X11 seems to be running when all this happens although I don't know what X11 is or does.
    Hope someone can help

I had the exact same problem with gimpshop and os 10.5.7
I just downloaded the latest version today for the first time. any suggestions?

  • The application Printer Setup Utility quit unexpectedly

    Hi All,
I'm using 10.4.11, trying to add a printer. In 'Default Browser', I click on 'More Printers', and I receive the following error, The application Printer Setup Utility quit unexpectedly.
Done all the basics, reset permissions, updated latest software, no help.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    To The Apple Discussion Boards!
Did you reboot your computer after repairing permissions & installing? If so, trash the com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist file & restart your computer.
    Please post back the results.

  • The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly

This message pops up immediately when attempting to launch FCP (version 5.0.1)
I have trashed preferences, ran disk utility. No dice!
    Any ideas.
The only thing I had done recently (since last running FCP) was downloaded QT Pro. I know it shouldn't have needed to download QT Pro, but I did, since I needed the application. With that stated, any help from you gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, how do I also update to FCP 5.0.4?
    Thanx again!!

QT Pro was installed as part of the FCP5 package.
Update to 5.0.4 and remember to repair permissions BEFORE and AFTER you run the updater.
If that doesn't help, try running FCP Rescue (google it, it's free)
Use it to TRASH your preferences.
    good luck.
    x

  • "The application Sync Server has quit unexpectedly"

For the last week or so, the above message appears on my screen about once an hour. I can choose Ignore, Report to Apple, or Relaunch. I usually choose Ignore, although sometimes I hit Report.
The thing is, my MacBook Pro has been extremely sluggish for several months now--almost to the point of being useless. I've been trolling the support boards, trying various suggestions, but nothing has helped for a significant amount of time.
Until now. When I Ignore or Report the Sync Server failure, my machine perks right up and the speed is just as fast as when it was new. This situation lasts for about 45-50 minutes, then Sync Server apparently tries to sync, my machine slows down, then Sync Server fails, and the box comes up... and the cycle begins again. Then another 45-50 minutes of terrific speed.
Since I do not at the moment have much need for syncing (I have one computer and no gadgets or gizmos that need syncing) , I would be happy to kill Sync Server (assuming that is possible). However, I plan to get an iPhone later this year, and then I will need to sync that.
So--any ideas how I could get Sync Server to not quit but yet not slow down my computer?

I'm having the same problem on my machine. SyncServer has completely taken over my computer; when I watch it in Activity Monitor I can see it taking up >95% of my CPU processing ALL the time. I can force quit for a few short moments, but it just starts back up again. I tried the solution as listed in the link above (Open Terminal and type in that one-liner) but no success. Any other thoughts on getting SyncServer to stop having a mind of its own?

  • The application Final Cut Express quit unexpectedly.

    Dear Group
I have been receiving this error when trying to run FCE today. I have spent all day trying to run the app but to no avail.
I have completed an install after completing a complete uninstall as per the instructions on this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA38198?viewlocale=en_US
I have also downloaded the Preference Manager 2.1.4 to remove all my preferences and also deleted them manually.
The splash screen always gets to "loading video effects' and then issues the error with associated report. The report makes no sense to me.
I'm not sure what else to try now and it's driving me crazy.
    Please help if you can.
    Thanks
    Craig.

    Thanks Tom.
Yes it's been working fine for a year on my iMac with the update 4.0.1. The only thing I can think of is that I installed the Boinx Fotomagico upgrade for Toast users this morning. I have since uninstalled this and still have the same problem with FCE.

  • The Application apple works 6 quit unexpectedly.

I try to open my applictation from the hard drive. No luck. I get this
I can either click reopen (which won't let me do that it just gives me the same window) Close or Report.
So I reupload software into hard drive after deleting the original one. No dice. I try opening it from the CD and no dice.
    What's writer to do????

The problems you are having are most likely due to corrupt preferences. Each time AppleWorks crashes there is more corruption. I know I give this response very frequently (so do others), but it's because it is the most common cause of problems with AppleWorks. Deleting & reinstalling (not "upload") does not affect the preference files. These files are created by AppleWorks for each user & must be deleted manually. The next time you launch AppleWorks new, clean preference files will be created. See my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for more information.

  • HPIO trap monitor quit

I keep getting this error message. the computer asks me to either ignor, relauch or report. No matter what I do it continues to come up. Any recommendation. I just installed Leopard how did that effect this message coming in

Same happens here since I installed leopard, but only on the iMac, not on my powerbook. very strange and have not found any way to deal with it. Only thing currently to avoid this is to put the message somewhere where it doesn't disturb, no new message would come.
If you found a way to deal with it, please let me know - very keen to get this fixed.

  • HPIO Trap Monitor nightmare . . .

Since upgrading my iMac to Leopard I keep getting a persistant box that says "The application HPIO Trap Monitor quit unexpectedly" (Ignore, Report, Relaunch). No matter what I do, 30 seconds later the box re-appears. I researched this a bit and found a "fix" which involves making some HP folder into an "app". This did not fix the problem. I've written to HP and Leo LaPort but have yet to receive a response. Does anyone have a real fix for this? Thanks!

Search. There are multiple threads here on this with suggestions, and I found an answer for the previous one with a Google search; it was the top result.

  • HPIO Trap Monitor

I keep getting a popup message that says, "The application HPIO Trap Monitor quit unexpectedly. "Mac OS X and other applications are not affected." I can't close it out. Should I delete this dialog from Finder to get rid of it? I don't want to delete my printer software by accident.

Aren't us HP printer owners lucky (and I got mine from an Apple Store)... I found the following on an Apple support site (see next to last paragraph). I don't know if this applies to our HPIO problem.
Labeled "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard build 9A559," the new release came just hours after the Cupertino-based company issued two minor updates to the previous full-sized build (9A527), both of which were aimed at testing the system's automated Software Update mechanism.
Developers who successfully applied both of the automatic software updates saw their version of Leopard upgraded to build 9A528d. By contrast, Friday evening's release of build 9A559 was issued as a 6.5GB web download to all Apple Developer Connection members, whether they had installed the previous builds or not.
People familiar with the new release say it contains only two known issues and may be considered the first of several release candidates, the latter of which would eventually be declared Gold Master and shipped off for duplication and retail packaging.
Of the two known issues in build 9A559, one relating to archive installs appears to be the most critical. Those people familiar with the matter say archive installs from Tiger to Leopard may fail on some Power PC systems if the user attempts to preserve their user settings. To remedy this problem, Apple reportedly suggests that users perform an upgrade install, a clean install or opt out of preserving user settings.
The second known issue affects users who have HP printers connected to their system or are upgrading from a Tiger system with an HP printer that had previously been configured. Though Apple did not specify the root of the problem, it recommended that these users perform a custom install of Leopard and de-select the HP printer drivers in the installer. The proper drivers would be delivered via Software Update following the Leopard install, the company added.
With a self-imposed October launch timeframe quickly approaching, Apple would need to declare a build of Leopard Gold Master sometime in the next three weeks in order to meet the tail-end of that deadline.

  • What is HPIO Trap Monitor

"The application HPIO Trap Monitor quit unexpectedly."
I got this message over and over again. If I choose relaunch, the message appears again. If I choose Ignore, it shows up minutes later. What is it? And how do I get rid of it?

It's a Hewlett Packard thingy. Go here and read about it and it's problems: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1198099&start=0&tstart=0
