Please is anybody there who can help me?
Hi Hugo
1. Do You have upgraded QuickTime to v.7 if not don't, else downgrade to
6.5.2
2. Do You have enough free space on Your hard disk eg 20Gb recommended
3. Do You start Your projects from within iMovie with the function
Share/Export to iDVD. I don't. I use the ref. movie in the project
folder/icon and close iMovie so that only iDVD is running
4. Do You do other thing during DVD-processing. Don't.

If your product is Photoshop Elements, then you have posted in the wrong forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
Please re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum (probably quicker choice) or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and then move it from here to there.

"The application ( insert name here ) has unexpectedly quit."
Hello,
Recently both Safari and iTunes frequently quit. With Safari, it will start up and open the home page, but quit when any link is clicked on. Restarting the computer has so far always corrected the problem, at least temporarily. With iTunes, it just goes part way through "Loading iTunes Library" and then quits. Once, it said it was importing iTunes Library, and then said the Library appeared to be damaged and would be called iTunes Library 2, damanged. Then it quit. So far, restarting does not help and I can't run iTunes at all.
Perhaps related, maybe not, there's 1 gigabite left on the hard drive, and often the message that the startup disc is almost full appears. I did get the list of things to safely delete from an earlier question posted, thanks, and have meant to do so, but have not yet. Also, when starting up, most of the time it chimes, but, sometimes it starts up without a chime.
I keep Software Update up to date. A recent update to iTunes deleted all our Playlists, but it had been running after that. We let our .mac run out, so, have not had Virex updated in about a year. In case it's a virus (?).
You know, when we had OS 9, there were so many problems that I was forced to get fairly good at troubleshooting and fixing things. Ever since OS X, there's almost never a problem (good), but the down side of that is, I don't know how to troubleshoot it anymore (bad).
Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated, thanks,
JayZimmer
iMac Flat Panel Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hello,
Thanks. Running out of space was apparently one of the several problems I was having. I posted this summary of how things went on an earlier question, that was in the end related, all of it was related:
"Thanks for the good advice. You were right, I was down to just over 1 GB free space left, and performance had solwed down, and lots of strange problems were happening more and more frequently, in all applications. I did delete some old files, but, not a significant amount of space was generated from that. Disk Utility found problems which it said that it could not repair. I got a Western Digital external drive, dragged over stuff that I knew I wanted to protect, and attempted to Erase and Install. That was unsuccessful due to problems the installer kept encountering. So, in the end, I took the machine to Blue Ridge Mac, they opened it up and determined that both the internal hard drive, and the ram, were failing, all or in part due to lots and lots of dust and dirt accumulated. Anyway, they put in a 250 GB drive, updated the OS to 10.4.9, replaced the ram, installed Super Duper for doing backup, and restored all my old stuff in the new system. Now, it's like having a brand new computer! What a pleasure, and the people at Blue Ridge Mac were great. Super Duper is an easy way to do the backup on a schedule, too. I have a sparse image of the entire hard drive on the external drive, so, now I'm prepared for any future problems. Super Duper automatically runs Disk Utility to repair permissions, every time it backs up my hard drive."
So, now things are going good. Thanks for the help!

"This application adobe photoshop cs has unexpectedly quit" HELP!
Every time I try to open Photoshop CS it crashes and tells me that "This application adobe Photoshop CS has unexpectedly quit". I have used this application many times in the past but a few months ago it just stopped opening. I have tried deleting the application and preferences and re installing it several times but this has not made a difference.
Is there anything else I can try to get the application to open or am I better off buying an upgrade and which one? (I am running a Mac OS X 10.3.9 system on an eMac)Well you can only buy one upgrade and that is CS3. the problem is it will not run on your system you need at least 10.4.8. the other problem is Apple stopped selling 10.4.x when they started shipping 10.5 and I don't believe it will work on your eMac.

The application has unexpectedly quit???
Hello,
I have been using iMovie, and iDVD for a few years now. Nothing fancy, just home videos, but I really enjoy it, and I feel very good when a project is done and I can share it with my family.
My most recent project is a group of iMovies based on the first 4 years of my middle daughter's life. I title each movie by year (1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993). Each movie has titles, transitions, soundtrack music, and "chapters" added, all standard iMovie stuff.
My problem is that this project will not work. The project starts out fine, just like always, with the little sideways barber pole spinning away, but when I come back several hours later to check on it, there is a window stating that the "application has unexpectedly quit" and asking me if I want to submit a report to apple. This has not happened before.
The first time it happened, I did all the things I have learned to do when iMovie tries to act up or give me trouble, specifically: I deleted the iDVDplist, I "repaired permissions", and I even ran "Cacheout X" and restarted my computer. But after all that, when I tried the project again, it "unexpectedly quit" again.
I don't know what to do now? I have read that many people have had trouble with iDVD chapters being placed at transitions. I thought this must be a problem with the new iDVD5, because I have always placed chapters at transitions (and at the very beginning of a project) and I have never had a problem before.
Since I don't know what else to do, I am going to go back and move the chapters around avoiding the beginning, and any transitions, and see if that makes a difference. Other than that, can anyone suggest anything else I could try?
Would upgrading to iLIFE '05 help? I actually own it. I have had the box sitting on my desk for months, but I have been reluctant to load it because of many of the problems that I have read about in these forums. In my case, iDVD4 has been working very reliably for me, and my thought was "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" Well, now it seems to be broken, so, should I try to fix it?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
LincolnThank you David,
I appreciate your advise. As you suggested, I went back and moved all the chapters from each of the iMovies. I have never NOT placed a chapter at the very beginning of a project, and it seems strange for the "2nd" chapter to be listed as chapter #1 (since the first chapter "Beginning" is implied), but--- it worked!
It is hard to say exactly what worked, because I also created an entirely new project. It was an exact duplicate of the original project in every way (except for the new chapter locations), but I simply couldn't figure out how to "update" the original project after I made the changes, and I thought that making a new project would be the easiest thing.
So it is probably the chapter changes that fixed it, but perhaps there was some wierd problem with the first project. The other thing I was wondering about was that this project was less than 2 hours long, but not by much. When I looked at the "Status" section, I had used 3.8 of the available 4.0GB for video.
But the bottom-line is that I am very happy that the project is complete, and I continue to be amazed at the high quality movies and DVD's I am able to create with the iLIFE programs.
Now that this crisis is over, what is your opinion of iLIFE '05? Should I take the plunge and load it up, or keep working with programs that I am happy with? I must admit that I would love to have access to the new "THEMES" in iDVD, but as you can plainly see, I am simply not computer saavy enough to handle any of the new problems that I have read so much about in the iMovieHD, and iDVD5 discussion groups.
Thanks again,

The application (all adobe applications) has unexpectedly quit
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Adobe Cs3 Design Premium package. I don't know if i have the correct forum section.
I now managed to install this software correctly on mac osx but when i try to start one of the application they will all give me the very same error message!
"The application (all adobe applications) has unexpectedly quit
A crash report has been generated. To provide us with the best chance of fixing this problem, please select Continue to add a detailed description that includes the steps required to reproduce the crash."
Adobe will use this crash report to help find a future solution to this problem.
I had 512mb but upgraded it later to 2gb. Mac OSX is installed on a pc machine.
Does anyone know this issue? and what can i do about it?
I really appreciate any help,

IDVD wont open. "Application has unexpectantly quit"
This is starting to **** me off. I'm trying to open up iDVD to burn a video. The message "The application iDVD has unexpectantly quit." How can it quit if it's not even open? Any ideas?
Message was edited by: NEwherebutA&MMay I add to these discussions? I listened to all the hype of changing over to Leopard and am starting to regret falling for it. I have been with macs for many years with very few problems and have, indeed sung its praises, now we have Leopard!!! Prior to upgrading from 10.3 to 10.5 and subsequently 10.5.1, I backed up all my files onto a LaCie 500 ghz (Porsche) external drive.
To begin with my Speedtouch modem ceased to function,, now have a Netgear router, all is restored. 2nd I cannot burn cds or dvds. 3rd iDVD does not work. 4th my remote hard drive does not mount, just clicks away merrily but no icon.
Where do we go from here? Do I have to purchase the latest iLife? Is it coincidental that my remote hard drive doesn't function as it should? (it mounts onto my old fashioned imac G3 OS9!!)
Any answers would be most welcome.
Cheers -
I have this message appearing "the application finder has unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows"...
So far it doesn't appear to be effecting anything that i can see on my imac BUT it is incredibly annoying and popping up at bad times, and it all happened when my imac automatically updated itself. So annoying. PLEASE help!!!Finder crashes are often caused by "Google Drive." If it's installed, I suggest you first check for an update. If that doesn't solve the problem, remove it according to the developer's instructions. You may need to start the computer in safe mode to do so. Back up all data before making any changes.
If you use Google Drive and don't want to remove it, then try deselecting the option in its preferences to "show status icons." According to reports, that may be enough to stop the crashing.
Similar cloud-data clients such as "Dolly Drive," "iDrive," "Open Drive," "Transporter Desktop," and others can cause the same problem. -
My apple RIP gives this error message" the application ppRIPe has unexpectedly quit"
MY APPLE RIP GIVES THIS ERROR MESSAGE" the application ppRIPe has unexpectedly quit"
Thanks.
I should have mentioned that I have already done the Resolving Permissions as outline on Apple Support pages, but, I went ahead and did the complete sequence as shown on Dr. Smokes.
I decided to stop beating a dead horse and did an Erase and Install of 10.2 again since I did not have anything on there yet. So far, everything is working perfectly. I am doing the Software Updates called for one by one to see if any of those caused the problem.
The only thing I did other than doing all of the updates after the install was to install OS 9.2 for my Classic Environment software and I also installed an HP PSC 1315v All-In-One scanner/printer. I cannot imagine that would have done anything.
I did have some strange issues with Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego and The Star Fleet Technical manual so I may stay away from them unless I start in OS 9 if none of the other updates cause any issues.
Thanks. BTW, How should I rate your answer? I know that it did not solve my problem, but, it is likely that something else I did whacked something.
I'll update when I know more. -
ITunes 5 - The application has unexpectedly quit.
I kept getting "The application has unexpectedly quit" message when trying to launch iTunes 5. If I logged out and logged back in again, then I could open it, but I'm not gonna do that everytime I want to launch iTunes.
Anyway, I had 2 Scripts in the Library/iTunes/Scripts folder under my user folder, (i.e. Dan/Library/iTunes/Scripts). When I removed the scripts from the folder, iTunes launched without crashing.
Then, to try to determine if that was the cause of the problem, I quit iTunes, put the scripts back in the folder, tried to launch iTunes again, and got the application has unexpectedly quit" message again.
So, I've taken the scripts out of the folder, and it's working again. Then, I noticed that there used to be a little Script icon in the menu bar, but now it's not there. Maybe Apple doesn't want the scripting option there.I think the problem may be memory. 64mbs of ram with osx is apparently not enough. But any other ideas would still be appreciated. I'll get back once I get more ram in.

The application iPhoto has unexpectedly quit.
About a month ago my iPhoto just never opens anymore and always crashes.
Here is what happens:
I click on the iPhoto icon and it starts "uploading photos" and then I get the following message:

I always submit a report but no one has been able to help me.
Can anybody please help.

Lamp shaped iMac PowerPC G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hi everyone,
I tried all things mentioned above, but none worked.
Martin,
your's is the most accurate assesment, I think this probem started when I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (with it comes Quicktime 7.1.3).
Everyone, please let me know if Apple comes up with a fix, or if you think of anything else.
I really appreciate your time and help dedicated to this, lets hope I can fix it soon.
My wife is desperate for the pictures.

The application mail has unexpectedly quit.
While on the web if I go to a contact us link or any other mail application
I get this error message...
The Application Mail Has Unexpectedly Quit.
The system has not been affected.
Would you like to submit a bug report to Apple?
(I have submitted several bug reports)
I have to leave the site and go to my e-mail and type in the address and mail them from there.
Help
mreyeman / ScottI’m hesitant to try to help you here because your last post gives the impression that you want Roger to do that instead of me, but since Roger hasn’t replied to your last post, and for the benefit of other users who might also have the same problem, I’ll reply anyway...
It seems that, when you talk about “my e-mail”, you’re actually talking about webmail and don’t use the Mail application included with Mac OS X nor any other standard mail client to access your mail at all.
Let’s fix the problem of Mail crashing first. Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Whoever gave you the computer probably left his/her mail data there. If there is something wrong with those files, that could be the reason Mail crashes every time. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/ and move the entire Mail folder out of there, to the Desktop. Now, go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and move com.apple.mail.plist to the Desktop as well. Alternatively, if you don’t want to preserve the data stored there, you may just trash those files (the Mail folder, not the application itself, and com.apple.mail.plist).
Now, there is the problem of Mail opening when you click on a ‘mailto’ URL. Until just a few months ago, there was no solution to this problem because webmail isn’t a standard mail client. But it’s now possible to solve it using the following piece of software:
http://www.belkadan.com/webmailer/
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder. -
