The application Keychain Access quit unexpectedly - MacBook Pro

Whenever I try to load my keychain on my MacBook Pro G4, I get the message and I keep clicking goon relaunch and it just does the same thing over and over again. The application will not launch. Does anyone know how to repair this issue? Can it be downloaded from Apple?

Hi,
You would need to use Pacifist and extract/Reinstall it from the Install Disk.
See Kappy's Post here on how to use it.
Afterwards it would be best to download and Install the COMBO version of the OS Updater to Update the items if that is required.
10.6.6 is here
(The Software Update keeps record of what it has Updated (Receipts) and you have to Re-update that you Reinstall that is at the Install Disk Level by Manually doing the update. Combos are better as they contain Everything from the base 10.6 in this case so that you don't miss anything.)

  • "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly."

I reinstalled Tiger because the syncserver got stuck when I tried to sync my Palm Z22.
Now when syncing I get: "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly." In isync I get "the hotsync software is not properly installed or it has never been opened. Try opening HotSync Manager, then return to iSync and choose Devices>Enable Palm again." even after installing and opening HotSyncManager.
    Can anyone help?

You have a very common problem, most likely caused by your choice to archive and install. Perform one of the following procedures:
Take a look at the permissions of the folders listed below by selecting each folder, one at a time, and—either using the I key sequence or the Get Info option in the File menu of the Finder—opening the information box for the folder. Your permissions for the folders listed below should appear as described below the pathname to that folder:
    For the Macintosh HD:Applications:Palm folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm Desktop folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
You can either reset those values manually, then restart and recheck them to be sure that they are set correctly or use the Terminal application by typing these strings listed below this example—substituting your short user name—as shown below:
    sample: "sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm"
    actual: "sudo chown -R michaellafferty:admin /Applications/Palm"
…where michaellafferty is the <shortusername> in my case. Be sure to pay attention to the spaces in each string, and the direction of the / or \ forward and back slash characters.
Here are the appropriate Terminal entries. Each is is shown bulleted below, but actually begins with the term sudo:
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm
NOTE: at this point, you'll be asked to enter your login password
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Applications/Palm
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
Again, pay particular attention to the spaces and to the \ characters, as both are critical to the syntax of these commands. Remember to place your actual shortusername in the string where the <shortusername> placeholder is shown, as in the sample above. Do not include the < and > characters around your actual shortusername.
As a Palm user, don't elect to archive and install Mac OS X unless there is no other method to do so which insures that your applications and data are preserved.

  • The application DVD Player quit unexpectedly.

Everytime I place a DVD in my disk drive I get this notice.
"The application DVD Player quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."
I am so computer illiterate and I get this warning a lot with different applications as well...
I purchased my MacBook two days ago and any advice would be great!

    Hmmm..
    The other applications..
    I actually can't remember..
I think Word did the same thing when I tried to open my free trial of it or something..
I am no longer getting this warning (after restarting my computer) and I can now use my remote, but when I click on "Music" or "DVD" then it will take me to the menu from there but will not actually play any media!!

  • Getting "The Application Disk Utility quit unexpectedly"

Hi all. New to the forum.
Went to do my weekly disk Utility this afternoon and it won't open from my applications. Keep getting the error "The Application Disk Utility quit unexpectedly". Now This morning i did allow firefox to do an update, not sure if this has caused some issue. Running 10.5.6 and have been for some time with no issues. I've ran the install disk and ran Utility from there with no problems however there was a ton of stuff it was correcting. Repaired Disk as well. Restarted, tried to pull from applications, again no luck same message. I then ran Safe Boot, Reset PRAM and again still no fix. I removed Firefox, chess and some other game's I've downloaded from the apple site just to be safe. Still nothing. Anyone advise? I'm set up to meet with a Mac Gen. at the local apple store in 2 days. Anyone have any idea's? The only change I have done recently is the firefox update. UGGGG!!!

Have you tried to run Disk Utility from a system Install Disk or start-up from a system install disk and run disk utility from the disk?

Just installed the iPhone SDK and installed sample code. The Interface Builder will not start. At startup, the following message is displayed: "The application Interface Builder quit unexpectedly."

Thanks for asking. It happens when I click the "Interface builder.app" name in finder and when I double-click an .xib file name in finder.
As I mentioned, I have repaired permissions on the drive to no avail. I have also read older posts on the web referring to various preference plist files but those don't exist with this build of xcode.
I have also had older builds of xcode on this mbp and worked thru a couple of tutorials. Interface Builder from those older builds worked. I'm not sure were to get them, now, and I doubt they would have the iphone sdk included.

    Hello folks,
    Please help!
When I try to open an .fla file that I have I get this error:
"The application Flash Professional quit unexpectedly."
I doesn't happen with other .fla's. Only with one of them. A
friend of mine says that he can open it on his computer just fine.
    What can it be?
I am on a Mac G5 dual under MacOSX Tiger 10.4.6. Using Flasg

sometimes a FLA can become corrupt. have your friend do a
save-as with a new name - then tell him to
zip it and send it to you.

  • Error:  The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly

When trying to perform a HotSync using my Treo 700p, I'm suddenly getting this error: "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly." I have recently been sent a new Treo to replace a defective Treo, but until I received this new Treo, I have been syncing without problems for over 18 months.
Let me know if anyone has had similar problems and any solutions that you have successfully used.
    Thanks!

If you are saying that you synchronize a single Palm device BOTH at work and at home, you've likely explained why your data has become corrupted. A Palm device was not intended to be, and should never be used as, a 'data carrier' or storage device to move records from one Macintosh to another. To do so will almost always result in serious data corruption over time, the duplication of records and so on.
It can be less problematic to synchronize with a Windows platform on one end and a Macintosh on another, but I don't recommend that, as—once again—it places your records at risk.
Keep in mind that the problematic record or records are on your device, not in iCal, as demonstrated by the Conduit Manager warning. There may also be records corrupted in iCal on your Power Macintosh G5, but that's another issue.
You can correct the G5 issue, but first, it is important for you to outline just what you are presently—and have historically—been doing to 'synchronize' your home and work machines.

  • "The application System Preferences quit unexpectedly" everytime

When I open my system preferences and go to Desktop and Screensaver, I never can do anything. The second that I click on it, it closes and says "The application System Preferences quit unexpectedly." It only closes when I click on Desktop and Screensavers and never with anything else.
What can I do to fix this?

Thank you, it sort of worked for half of it. I can now change the desktop, but the screensaver still doesn't. It works if I keep it on the desktop tab, but once I click on Screensaver it closes.
These are the .plist files I put on the desktop:
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist.saved
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    com.apple.dock.plist
    com.apple.desktop.plist
Those changed the desktop back to the original Tiger blue default and reset the dock.
Is there anything else you can think of?

  • The application ''nautilus'' has quit unexpectedly.

When i start gnome i get this message:
The application ''nautilus'' has quit unexpectedly. You can inform the dvelopers of what happened to help them fix it. Or you can restart the application right now
    restarting doesnt help.
This stops all the menus other than actions from working. I've had it working before on my system but recently reinstalled everything so maybe i've just forgotten soemthing obvious?  (I am rather new too all this).
I really like arch and pacman so i'd like to get this working. All the other desktops are ok but i like my gnome so and ideas would be great, i post up any files if they would help.
    thanks in advance,
    david

Running nautilus from a terminal gives the output
(nautilus:4696): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Cannot load module `/opt/gnome/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libfile.so' (libfam.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
This suggest a lack of gnome-vfs or fam. For me it was fam
    pacman -S fam
    Now nautilus runs as expected..

  • The application SIMBL Agent quit unexpectedly

Hi, ok the thing is, when I start up my computer (Macbook OSX 10.5.8), this error message appears
and it won't go away, I've tried reporting it, ignoring it, relaunching. I also tried moving the SIMBL folder in Application Support to the trash as suggested in some other threads, and then restarting my computer but nothing is working?
It doesn't crash Safari like it seems to do for others, its just this error message keeps showing up. Really confusing.

    does this help

This solved my questionRe: Program quits unexpectedly, Please help.
    Mar 7, 2012 11:21 AM (in response to tanaphon1987)
    Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
    /Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete all the items listed below. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Application Support/SIMBL
    LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in. If you still have the issue, uninstall Flip4Mac WMV according to the developer's instructions, then test again.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are notSafari extensions.

  • The application "Installer" has quit unexpectedly"

Am running 10.5.8 on a PPC dual 2.0 Ghz G5 tower, with 8 GB RAM.
I am trying to install 3rd party software, ProTools LE 8.0, on this system. I have followed all of Digidesign's special instructions and troubleshooting suggestions as posted on their website...but still get this reject message from the Apple system. It gives the options to relaunch or report...
Is there any reason why it would be a Mac problem rather than an issue with the software I'm trying to install? I did also do the repair permissions step they suggested and every other system preferences maneuver in their list....thanks to anyone who might state even the obvious.

I have a similar problem, I am unable to use the application installer to install any updates at all.
I recently purchased an update of Intego's virus barrier x6 and when I tried to install either from their website or from the install disc the application installer icon arrives in the dock, bounces up and down for ages and then quits, leaving a smaller window asking me to relaunch, which I do, with the same result.
I have contacted support at Intego and I am waiting to hear from them, but I wondered if anyone here knew what was going on an if it was a software problem or something more serious, causing me to have to reinstall leopard.
I have run disc utility and all appears to be well, and I am 'verified ' so that's OK. Can anyone offer any enlightenment?
    Thanks in advance, Jenny

  • The application Adobe Reader quit unexpectedly

I found a solution to this issue for Network Users running 10.5.6 from another post in the forums
    1. Log in as a Network User
    2. Go to Macintosh HD /Users/Shared/
    3. If you are on an Intel based Mac create a folder in /Users/Shared/ named 9.0_x86 if you are on a Mac that is a G5/G4 create a folder named 9.0_ppc
At this point you should have created either
    /Users/Shared/9.0_x86/
    /Users/Shared/9.0_ppc/
    4. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/ and trash the 9.0_x86 or 9.0_ppc folder contained within
    5. Go to Applications/Utilities/ and open Terminal
    6. Enter one of the following into the Terminal
If you are on an Intel based Mac enter
