The ATT the IPHONE 4 official unlock service

The ATT the IPHONE 4 official unlock service

It is just as of April 8, AT&T is unlocking .  Some people have reported lengthy delays to the process as AT&T has to verify all the required conditions.
From CNET's report of the announcement:
"Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer's account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee."

The T-mobile phone is advertised to be SIM-free.  This does NOT mean unlocked.  Unlocked iPhone 6's are not yet for sale in the US.

You need to visit Apple Store, and show ownership proof in case of forgotton pass code.

  • What is the deal with "Apple official unlocked" iPhones on eBay?

Does anyone know what this means? The eBay sellers say that you can use these phones on any network (like T-Mobile)...but what is the catch? is there some sort of hidden cost or issue with the phones? and why do they say it's officially unlocked by apple, (not jailbroken)...curious as to why/how Apple would do this? Also, does anyone know if/when Apple will make the iPhone available on any other network other than AT&T?
    thanks

Yes, they are officially unlocked by Apple. Yes they will work on T-Mo but not completely. T-Mobile 3G WILL NOT function on the iPhone 3G due to different frequencies. If you have trouble believing this saying that there isn't one unlocked to test on T-Mo then look at the G1 Android phone from T-Mobile, it WILL NOT work on AT&T 3G, and it can be unlocked.

  • IPhone Officially unlocked - is there a way to check it?

    Hi,
My iPhone was officially unlocked by the carrier.
is there a way (beside insert a different SIM) to check it?
    Thanks,
    Ofir

I've never heard of the carrier store doing it. How long did it take?
Every other official unlocking I've heard of takes at least a few days. Your phone details are submitted by the carrier to Apple. Apple enters it into their unlocked phones database. You then get a text message a few days later from the carrier informing you to connect your phone to iTunes for the unlock to be done. Then you get the Congrats message.
Have any new icons appeared on your phones homescreens?
There is no way to check online or anywhere else that your phone is unlocked. The only surefire way of knowing is to try a different SIM.

  • Is the T Mobile iPhone 5S unlocked?

Since the new iPhone is not yet available in my country I'd like to buy it from the US, but in the online store there's no option to buy an unlocked iPhone, just the contract-free T Mobile version... Is that iPhone unlocked? Am I gonna be able to use it with other carriers?

Here is a recent post from someone who owns and uses a T-Mobile phone on AT&T:

Re: When will the factory unlocked version of the iphone 5s be released ?

It will work ANYWHERE with another SIM card. You do not have to activated with T-Mobile. Remove the inactive T-Mobile SIM card it was shipped with and use one from the carrier of your choice.
I am using a "T-Mobile" iPhone 5s with AT&T in the USA.  I never used it with T-Mobile and never have had a T-Mobile account.

  • Vodafone iPhone 3G unlock service through iTunes

GOD, i made a unlock fee payment on vodafone website, my iphone is still be locked. And vodafone customer service don;t what to do. Is anyone here having same problem?

Similar question for you. I use Entourage 2008 and have a 3g iPhone. I've never had a problem syncing calendar/contacts until just recently. Calendar is syncing just fine but my contacts are not syncing- meaning if I make a change within an entourage contact (change an email address, phone number, etc) it's not carrying over through sync- the contact on the iphone remains unchanged.
Within iTunes (vers 8.0) the following are selected:
    - Sync Address Book Contacts-->All Contacts
    - Replace information on this iphone-->contacts
Interesting to note that grayed out are: "selected groups" and "put new contacts created on iphone into the following groups". Also worth noting that within Entourage I do not have group options (that I am aware of)- so maybe that's a moot point.
I've done the 'reset sync history" withion Sync- nothing has changed.
What am i missing here? Appreciate any/all help...

  • Hi,is iphone imei unlock service true?

Iphone is locked to softbank Japan. How can I unlock it?
    Thanks

You can't.  Only the carrier can unlock a phone, since they locked it in the first place.  Softbank does not unlock their phones.  You cannot use a Softbank phone with another carrier.  Buy a new phone.

  • Why was the iphone unlock service becoming so expensive recently?

I have a att iphone5 ,but it does not work, because I am a chinese user, unlock service is becaming so expensive on ebay~

That's actually called "hacking", & is not a legitimate way to get any iPhone officially unlocked. Only the carrier an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking, & many carriers don't charge anything for this service.

  • How do i tell if my iphone is unlocked for the US?

    hi there
my husband has one of the old original Iphones that was purchased in the US back in 2007, it was brought into australia before they were available here and it was patched somehow so that he could use it here. he no longer uses it as we both have the newer models, his is the 16gb and mine is the 32gb, i will be in te US again in 2 weeks and i believe i will be unable to use my current iphone purchased in Aust, but i wonder if i might be able to use the original Iphone that was originally purchased there and just by a prepaid AT&T sim card if these are available? just trying to figure out how to tell if it's unlocked though?

Since all of the Australian carriers offer official unlocking, why don't you just get your current iphone unlocked? The original iphone you have was hacked to unlock it so it could be used where you live. Since it was originally locked to AT&T, it should work fine in the US. However, any attempt to update software or restore your original iphone will re-lock it to AT&T.
The real problem you'll run into in trying to use your iphone in the US is that AT&T has disabled data on all of its pre-paid sims for the iphone. That means you'll get voice, but no data. The only other GSM provider in the US is T-Mobile, but their 3G network is not compatible with the iphone. While you'll get both voice & data with T-Mobile, data will only be available on their Edge network, & their coverage is significantly less than AT&T's.

  • Globe telecom iphone 4 unlock code not provided by the carrier

I called my carrier asking for the unlock code because my 2 year contract for my iphone 4 has expired. I even offer to buy the unlock code from them as I want a legal way to unlock my phone 4. The customer rep told me it is up to the manufacturer to provide the unlock code but having read from apple's website, I told them only the carrier which was globe telecom can request apple for the unlock codes. Then the rep told me they are under no obligation to provide the unlock code. My question is , this is an old phone and the home botton does not even work anymore what I want is a legal way to unlock my phone from my carrier. How can I legally unlock my phone if my carrier Globe telecom Philippines won't provide or even let me buy the unlock code?
I don't want to jailbreak my phone I want to unlock it from this carrier. My contract is expired I want freedom to switch to other carriers!

Sorry, you're out of luck, as Globe does not offer unlocking for the iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, & there is no such thing as a "code".
Only the carrier an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. There is no other way to get any iPhone officially unlocked. Whether carriers offer unlocking is strictly up to them, unless required by law. In you case, Globe has chosen NOT to offer unlocking.
    It is what it is.

    Hi everybody,
    -This is my situation:
    I would like to purchase an iPhone 3G officially unlocked (From Italy)[MB496T/A].{some ones visiting}
Would I be able to update the software?
i dont mind about the warranty

If it is officially unlocked you should be able to load updates without a problem.
Just remember if you need to have it serviced at all you will need to take it back to Italy.
