The backup disk image "/Volumes/AirPort Disk-1/Angelo's MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" is already in use.
It worked fine. Now I get the same crap as everyone else lucky me!
The backup disk image “/Volumes/AirPort Disk-1/Angelo’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use.
Hi Bob there's an eject button next to the Time Capsule in Finder. Also when I press the select disk button is it suppose to show 2 disks for Time Capsule because it shows 2. Also when the backup was taking place I opened up Time Machine preferences to watch it doing the backup. Could this also have caused it? Also when I pressed the eject button Time Machine was showing up under the Time Capsule but now it disappeared. I read that if it's mounted it will cause this error.

For the past couple weeks, my Time Machine has not been backing up file from my MacBook Pro. I've had the Time Capsule for a couple years now. Entering the Time Machine I discovered that there are no files before "yesterday" yet there are only 161.0 GB of 998.06 GB available. A "Failed" message apprears with a popup message: "The backup disk image “/Volumes/ELBs Time Ca/ELB’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use." How can it be in use when Time Machine takes hours looking for the device?
Another error code message also pops up from time to time: Finder error code -6584. What is that? And how is it fixed?
All software is up to date on this computer and Time Capsule.Further to my earlier response (system re-start and firmware update resulted in full Time Machine backup) I waited until the next scheduled backup to determine success.
As it has turned out, the Time Machine's next backup was for 48 kb and ran for eight hours! The progress bar was complete (solid blue) and I therefore stopped the backup. It has been "stopping backup" for the past hour.
What is wrong with this process? -
I need help ever since I have upgraded to ML I have problems with my computer, cannot back up; my files have changed and when I save it does not go where it is supposed to go... how do I downgrade?
To go back, reinstall from your last Lion or Snow Leopard backup.

Purchased a new Macbook Pro 13". I used migration assistant to transfer. I can't backup to time capsule. I am getting on error "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Herb's Time Capsul/Herb MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” could not be created (error 17). Help!
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the page that opens.
Select the System keychain in the list of keychains in the sidebar of the window. If you don't see the list, click the down-arrow icon below the sidebar.
Then select Passwords in the Category list at lower left. Click the Kind heading in the list of keychain items to arrange it by Kind.
Locate the AirPort Disk Password with the name of your Time Capsule. Double-click the item and check the box marked Show Password in the inspector window that opens. You'll be prompted for the administrator login password. Make a note of the AirPort password, then close the inspector window and delete the item.
Also delete any other AirPort DIsk Password items for that same Time Capsule, which may have had a different name in the past.
Quit Keychain Access and try again to back up. -
This is coming in off of my time capsule.....The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-2/My Name iMac.sparsebundle” is already in use. What does it mean?
Try rebooting your whole network
modem > Time Capsule > and then clients withing a couple of minutes in between and see if that fixes it. -
The red i error message I am getting is not mentioned in this article. This time capsule backed up fine for months before yesterday.
That is due to the rather embarassing nature of the fix.
Pull out the power cord from the TC.. count to 10.. plug in the power cord.
That fixes it in 98% of cases.
If not use Pondini troubleshooting
http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
And C12. -
how to fix this error message The backup disk image “/Volumes/AirPort Disk/FARES DEL VALLE’s iMac.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1).
The troubleshooting C17 is the specific article.
http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
This is generally a Lion error.. and you will need 5.6 utility to get access to the disk area.
So download the real utility. Run it instead of v6 toy version.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Go to the manual setup, disk page and click on disconnect all users.. that will unmount all users connected to the disk and allow it to start working. But there are a number of other issues that are possible cause. Pondini lists some of them. -
MacPro backed up to Time Machine, added Mac Mini now get "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Jerry Booher’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use." error when Mac Pro tries to back up
It is standard Mountain Lion error due to the networking ability which is comparable to wet string. (actually that was lion.. it dried out some with Mountain Lion.. higher in the hills perhaps!!)
See C12 and C17
http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
But many people are suffering the same issue..
And the above is even a little out of date.. you might need to do a reset to the TC.

My time machine does not back up and giving me this error message: The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-1/Amiel’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use. Pls help.
Make sure that there are no other Macs backing up at the present time.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Count to ten
Plug the power cord back in
This will "fix" things about 98% of the time. Post back if you are in the unlucky 2% category. -

My Time machine won't back up. Recently updated to OS x 10.7.5. Error message is as follows: "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Time Machine Backup/Scott’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use." What is wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.
Have you tried restarting the computer? Also, see Time Machine Error from this pages sidebar under More Like This.

This is the second time I've encountered this issue with Time Capsule using Time Machine automatic backup. I haven't found the following specific error message in the list of troubleshooting issues: "Time Capsule cannot complete the backup. The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use."
I'm not certain what causes this issue. I think it may have something to do with having to force shutdown with apps still open when the beachball hangs and the MacBook has to be rebooted.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue?Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Restart your Mac and the Time Capsule. In most of the cases, this should solve the problem.
If it doesn't work, see > http://pondini.org/TM/C12.html -
