Have you updated to the newest firmware in the last week or two? If so, THAT's your problem. Everyone with a video iPod and the latest update has A LOT of problems. Most people, (from what I have researched, me included), can use their ipod for a few seconds before it freezes up and displays a garbled screen or the last thing displayed before it stops. As far as I can tell, there is nothing you, me or anyone else can do about it until Apple releases another update. Actually, I take that back, you can always reformat your iPod and go back to factory defaults. YEAH!!! What good is an iPod unless you have 29.999999 gigs of music, TV shows and other crap stored on it though? Personally, I think I'll wait until the "REAL" update shows up. Until then, I'll keep a disk image on my computer just in case. Hope this helps.

  • The battery icon says "Not Charging" and the light on the charger isn't lighting up either?

I fell while my macbook was in my bag. It was already dead but when I went to put the charger in it wouldn't light up. To my surprise it still turned on but it said "(Not Charging)". I unplugged it multiple times and reset the PRAM and everything and it's still the same. It's as if I always need my macbook to be plugged in for it to work and not charge at all. Is it the internal battery? What else could I possibly do to resolve the issue?

  • NB550D - battery icon does not always reflect the proper balance of time

I have just recently purchased an NB550D and I must say that at the outset I am very happy with it. It does tend to be a bit slow but I can live with that.
My problem however is that the battery icon does not always reflect the proper balance of time. For instance after a full charge it may show 9 hours remaining but after a shutdown and restart it will may show 75% and 3 hours remaining. If I shut down and restart it may show 75% and 6 hours remaining
When I first started the unit I allowed it to fully discharge (through use) three times as was suggested by the salesman at the store but quite candidly it doesn't seem to have made one scrap of difference!
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Regards

Remaining time is not credible value of the battery state - it depends on actual duty of processor and the program wich estimates this sometimes shows wrong that time or corrects this after a while. Percentage of charge of battery is much better factor to use!
But in case your battery loses from 95% to 75% after restart indictates that's something wrong with the battery or program... In my NB550D after restart (pause for 1 day) the battery loses only 2-3% .

  • I am getting a message "Not Charging" next to the battery icon.

When I plug my iPad into a wall socket, I get a ping as if it is charging but the message next to the battery icon says Not Charging.  I have tried several different charging cables.

Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • I got a replacement battery but I'm seeing an 'x' in the battery icon...

I got the battery from Laptop Battery One b/c my last battery was lasting 8-10 minutes. I charged the battery and made sure to try to get it charged up and used down through many cycles to help the battery get up to full speed.  Today, I unplugged the power cord and the battery icon is not showing % or time left, it simply is transparent with an 'x' in it.  And the laptop is still working although if I step away and the battery goes into energy saving mode, it won't wake up until I plug the cord back in and tap it.
what does that x mean and what should I do? I can't imagine this is normal.
    Thanks!
    Bernice

I looked at Laptop Battery One's website, and it looks like they make their own batteries, rather than selling Apple-brand batteries. Is this correct?
Also, with modern batteries, you should not cycle the power like that. It is not neccessary to fully charge and fully discharge the battery, and this will probably do more harm than any percieved good. Ideal battery use is something like you take your laptop to work and discharge some power each day, and then charge it back up at night. Basically, just keep the power moving. Don't leave it plugged in all the time (any Mac should automatically discharge about 5% and then recharge to help stay healthy when plugged in for long periods). NEVER fully discharge it if you can avoid it.
SO ANYWAY.... resetting the SMC may help:
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

My MacBook Air 13' (2013) will occasionally start the fan at full blast, not connect to any wifi or detect any wifi, and will remove the battery icon from my menu bad as well as tell me there is no battery connected. How do I fix this? I have restarted my computer multiple times, **** it down, and ran a diagnostic test to tell me nothing is wrong and my computer is not running any applications. There is no reason for the fan to be on full blast! when I try to set the option to show my battery icon in the menu bar, it will automatically uncheck. How do I fix all of this?

Have you tried SMC and PRAM resets?

Please find "System Information" in this folder path---Applications > Utilities---and launch it. When it opens, find "Power" in the left-hand contents pane and click it to get something like this in teh main pane:
Copy everything in the "Battery Information" and copy/paste it here. The number values in that report may help us diagnose what is happening.
Also, did you buy this battery directly from Apple or from another source. There are an increasing number of reports showing up that suggests some counterfeit batteries being sold.

  • Moving mail to the trash icon does not delete the mail.

I am using an iPad with OS Ver 7.0.2. Moving mail to the "Trash" icon does not delete the mail from the Inbox. This is not a problem on my iPhone. Settings are the same on both devices

First thing to try is a reset: hold the on/off button and the hold button at the same time until the iPad completely shuts down, then turn back on.
May not work, but often resolves simple app issues.

here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock.

  • HT4060 I have my Ipad Air connected to its charger and it is plugged in to an electrical outlet. The battery icon keeps going from green to white and a message comes up and says "This accesory may not be supported" ...I just purchased it on March 1, 2014

My iPad Air is not charging. I have it plugged into an electrical outlet with the charger it came with. The battery icon keeps changing from green to white and a message...Accesory May Not Be Supported keeps coming up on the screen. I just purchased it on March 1, 2014 and this is very annoying.

you are using the cable and charger that came with it?
you have charged successfully with them before?
you are under warranty, so I suggest you make an appointment with a genius at the Apple Store and have them look at it.  Sometimes the charger plug is faulty.

  • When will the color of the  battery icon  in the top bar will become red?

What is the percentage of battery life at which the color of the  battery icon  in the top bar will become red? 20% or 10%?

it is not a good idea to drain you macbook all the way down to see when it turns red.  if it ever does - i've never seen mine red when it's down to 10%.
if you follow some of the threads here - some people who drained their battery all the way down to 0% can't turn their macbook back on.
    From Apple's website:
    Standard Maintenance
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her notebook on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal. When your battery no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs, you may choose to replace it. If your notebook came with a built-in battery, you should have the battery replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

  • My Battery Icon will not move!

My iPhone 3G is less then a month old & starting yesterday my battery icon will not move at all. It will show my iPhone as fully charged even though it is not & i have been using it all day. This is terrible because i can't ever tell when my battery needs to be charged. Is this common? How can i go about fixing this?

Thank you guys, hopefully this isn't going to be something i have to do on a regular basis. Another question, when i shake my phone close to my ear i can hear a slight rattle inside my phone. I don't recall hearing it when i first got it but then again i never tried to listen. Is it the Accelerometers inside my phone? Is it normal to hear it? It's not a crazy rattle but you can clearly hear something inside moving around. Is this something i should be worried about? My phone works fine except for the battery icon thing but i'm still worried by the noise. I have the apple protection plan...
