The battery isn't charging

Hi,
I have a Probook 4535s with Windows 7 installed.
My battery stopped charging. The computer doesn't recognize that AC is plugged in when the battery is inserted. I tried to reinstall battery drivers and also ran a Battery Check, which said that the battery was ok, but I had to plug the charger in for more precise results.
When I take the battery out, the notebook turns on and works fine.

Hi,
I have two recommendations:
1) Go to a command line with admin priveleges. Type in  sfc \scannow and press enter to let the sfc utility run.  SFC is the Window 7 system file checker.  The Window 7 system file checker will  inspect all system files and replace files it deems to be corrupt or otherwise damaged with a fresh copy from the operating system's own file repository. There does exist the possibility that one or more of your operating system's system files is corrupt and is preventing the Battery control and charging methods to not work properly.
2) Update the BIOS to the current version. There have been quite a few enhancements made to correct issues that have to do with the battery and external power. Here is a link to the web support portal for your notebook.
Please post your  negative or positive results in your thread.

  • My MacBook Pro is plugged in and running on power from the power adaptor, but the battery isn't charging - what do I do?

The magnetic charger and port are clear and clean and clicking into place smoothly.
My Mac has had 2% power for the past few hours but is running on power from the power adaptor.
But the battery isn't charging - what do I do?
    Thanks!

Depending on the model of MBP, buy a new battery or take it in for servicing to get a new battery.  You could also try an SMC reset to see if that helps, but your symptoms don't sound like the ones normally solved by a SMC reset.

  • Battery isn't charging on my Satellite A350-220

Hey, I have a HUGE list of problems (some that can't be fixed) on my laptop that's 5 months old but let's start with the most urgent problem.
The battery isn't charging all the time. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, it's quite random... Sometimes it even says it's charging but it isn't. It just stays at 30% for example.
I have windows 7 and newest bios. Tried rebooting, placing battery after boot with cable and no battery etc. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Tried reinstalling drivers. Nothing.

    > How to make the laptop charge the battery properly?
It is always easier to ask something like this as get proper answer.
Be honest what can you do about it? You can start your notebook on AC power supply only and when OS is loaded you can put battery in place in hope battery load will starts.
If this will not help there is maybe some problem with power supply electronic and this must be fixed by authorized personal only.

  • Battery isn't charging, what's the problem?

I'm having problems with my battery again (3rd time, yay!). This started yesterday, everything was peachy the day prior. Can anyone assist? (hoping this is some silly operator error...)
-The power is failing when the AC adaptor is unplugged, but the menu bar says I have 10% battery charge left.
-The battery is not charging when the AC adaptor is connected. The light is on, but I checked in System Profiler. It recognizes the battery is installed but says it isn't charging. (yes, the outlet is live)
-I tried both cords for the AC adaptor.
    *Battery Info from System Profiler*
    Full Charge mAh: 2444
    Remaining Charge mAh: 256
    Cycle Count: 149
This is my 3rd battery for this notebook. The first one was recalled, the replacement failed shortly after and I bought the current one in May '08. (Serial: 3K8080HJT70C) What am I doing wrong?
Oh yeah, and my AC charger is new (6 months).

First, the battery. The recalled battery replacements have not held up well, and, unfortunately, feedback on the Apple site isn't what I would call complementary about their batteries. When I replaced mine, I got a Newer Technology battery from OWC at http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/BAP17AL60RS/ . Mine has 104 cycles on it and 4113 mAh capacity.
Now, charging. There are only 4 components in the charging circuit: Power adapter, DC-in card, battery and logic board. It sounds like your power adapter, being newer, is probably fine. Where the power adapter plugs into the computer, is that jack loose? If you put a pen or pencil on it and push it a little, gently, does it wiggle side-to-side? If so, your DC-in card may be bad. Assuming the battery stats are good and the battery is good, it should charge. Sooo, last but not least, is the logic board. Probably the best thing you can do is find a friend with a Powerbook or visit an Apple store or Apple authorized service provider to use another power supply that they know works (just to be sure) and a substitute battery (again, to be sure). If indeed yours are good, and I went through this a few months ago with one of our Powerbooks, you can replace the DC-in card, and if that doesn't work, then the logic board.
If you want Apple to do that, have them send it to the Apple depot, where they'll do whatever is required to put the Powerbook in close to new condition. Put an old, bad, Apple battery in it, so they'll replace it. Cost runs around $350 if the case isn't banged up, and if it is, the price can go up. When ours went in, they replaced the logic board and put a new battery in. Of course ensure your data is backed up, and if anything is really confidential, move it onto an encrypted disk on your hard drive or back it up and delete it.
If you have the store replace the logic board, it will run you more than double what they charge to send it to the depot.

My iPad wont charge when plugged into a computer, the battery isn't lasting long, and its getting hot when charging

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • The ipod isn't charging and just shows an apple.

The ipod isn't charging for some reason. I can see the charge battery on screen but it's not flashing or anything. I've been charging it for a while and nothing is happening, after a while shows an apple on screen and that's all. It won't show up on itunes either for me to remove or add songs to it. We have other ipods that are working from the same power cord, so I know it's not that. I have also turned off the ipod and back on again with no change. Please help.

  • Battery isn't charging after reset smc...

My battery won't charge even after smc reset and I have the charging light when I connect power dim.  With pressing option and pressing status in battery it says condition:normal. I have done and nvram reset. Nothing. Status says that battery isn't charging and I have done only 344 cycles charge. The macbook (late 2009) works correctly when on power only. Please can you help me?

My apologies. I now see there is a battery forum. I can't seem to delete my own question however.

  • Battery isn't charging, randomly crashes

Currently my battery isn't charging (at all).
Before this instance, I had to plug and unplug the magsafe a couple of times before it eventually started charging. Unfortunately, I tried another adapter and it also took a few tried before the laptop started charging.
I just got done resetting SMC and PRAM, so that didn't help any.
Also, my laptop has started to completely shut off without warning. Sometimes the battery indicator claims it has charge, other times it says it is completely empty (even though it is actually full when I get the charger to play nice with it).
    Here's the details from Profiler:
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 1410
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 6288
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 543
    Condition: Normal
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1535
    Voltage (mV): 10934
Side Note: The lappy isn't under warrantee anymore so I was hoping to avoid a trip to the Genius Bar.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! I already read some reviews and discussion about this. They said that the lightning bolt should pulsate when charging but it's not!

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • A battery error has occured, the battery cannot be charged, replace the battery

I have a T61, bought 10/07.  I got this message out of the blue after i unplugged my laptop and it shut itself off.  Only turns back on when plugged in.  The orange battery light is flashing despite it saying the battery is fully charged, i called lenovo and they said i need to purchace a new battery, since the 1 year warranty exprired just over one month ago (convenient for them).  I have searched and found that this is not a new problem with lenovo and that 2 sets of recalls on the t60 battery occured recently, but mine apparently does not quailfy for recall (already checked).   The battery info says its a sanyo battery with poor quality, 44 cycles, first used 10/07.
I'm kind of peeved that i'm being told i need to buy a $115 battery just over a year after getting this computer, and believe lenovo should step up for clearly something being wrong with their system as i'm in good company of others with this problem.
anyone have any ideas?  do i really need to purchase a new battery??
    thanks for any help

Has anyone had this issue or know of a fix?
    Thanks

    Try this
Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
Using the phone while charging doesn't create a problem.. I do it all the time
