Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

Batteries do have a finite life span.
That said there have been some users reporting battery issues but but there's no way to know what or why or how it happens.
You can try a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. Let it reboot and see if that helps.
If you have spares, you can try to swap out your charger and cable, just to see if there's any difference with them changed.
Another thing you can try is a restore. That's basically where you back it up and then restore it from a backup. (something to do a bit more research into if you plan to do it).
if you don't want to do that then you can make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

I am also having problems with my mac charging. The light does not come on at all and it HAS to stay plugged in for the computer to stay on. When I push the battery button on the back, only one light comes on. If the cord gets pulled out, the computer completely shuts off and you have to turn it back on and start up the computer all over again. It never charges and right now it says Not Charging. We're down to about 16%. We took it to the apple store a couple months ago and he thought it was the logic board. But before we spend that kind of money on one and after reading some things on here, I'm wondering if it could be the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated! And here is the battery info:

Why the battery of my ipad can not be charged?

I am facing problem to charge my ipad since two weeks (i baught it 2 years ago). 3 days to reach 49% of charge. Now, i can not charge it at all.

Your iPad cannot be two years old. They came out on the market in Aplril 2010 as far as I can recall.
Use the power adapter and plug it into a wall socket. Don't try to charge connecting to your computer. Try another cable as well. Yours may be defective. Try plugging into another wll socket.
If all those dont help You can try to reset the iPad and see if it will charge - hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider. See if you can charge it now.
If none of this works you may need to restore your device.

Brought a second hand ipod touch 4th gen, tried to restore it and the battery died now it will not charge or switch on

Hello everyone I brought a second hand ipod touch 4th gen and it all worked fab except it wouldn't let me put any new apps on it so my friend suggested I restore it which I did but while it was restoring the battery died. Now it doesn't seem to be charging and I have left it for ages through the laptop and tried it through a geniune apple plug in charger but its not working. When you plug in the cable to the laptop or plug the little grey apple comes up on the screen but only stays on for about 5 maybe 6 seconds. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried all the trouble shooting suggestions on apple but none of its worked, Shall we just bin it and learn from our mistakes.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Many PC's (and older Macs) USB ports do not provide enough power to charge an iPad. If the iPad is turned off, any USB port will slowly charge it, although when turned on, the iPad will display "not charging".

After updating to the new iOS my ipad is not charging at all... I did atatch it to a phillips dock and noticed that it did not charge for some reason, then I tried it's own cable and no luck.
Now I tried to charge it though my MacBook usb cable and all I am getting is the red line on the battery sign but does not seem as it is charging....
Any tips on how to fix this?? I recently read that with the new iOS Apple is blocking fake cables and I am worried that the dock had something to do with it?
I am absolutelly sure it's cos of the new iOS unfortunately I dont have enough batterry to install an upgrade and hope that would fix it, I am always on 1-2%.

TS2634 i have a ipad gen1 refurbished the wall usb charger keeps saying charging is not supported with this accesory and has taken 24 hrs to charge half the battery and this is a factory charger that uses the usb port whats wrong here help please

In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only.

How are you trying to charge it, via a computer's USB port or its wall charger ? A lot of computers don't provide enought power to their USB ports to charge an iPad at a sufficient rate.
If you are using the wall charger then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it still doesn't charge then have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?
