The beginning of the end

As I look at my newest Verizon bill (my second one) I am reminded of the major letdown I've felt since switching from Tmobile. I am posting this in hopes that someone who is considering Verizon will reconsider and to ask what other's would've done. Long story short: I wanted to return a data card to order a hotspot and called to do that and ask about my bill. We are brand new Verizon customers who ordered the Blackberry & Iphone 5 on top of the data card. So, the DC was returned with a $35 restocking fee. Had I known that I would've kept it. Customer service told me it was a NONREFUNDABLE fee...I told her that it was a mistake to not offer the best customer service possible and that I just want to order the hotspot. Still NONREFUNDABLE and "Sorry". Then I explained that in moving these first two phones to Verizon we wanted to see how the customer service and phone services were before we switched the following......my mother's phone, 2 of my son's phone and our home phone in the next year from TMobile. Plus, our cable service. Not to mention I only wanted a hotspot and had mistakenly ordered the wrong item.
It was THEN that she offered a $35 refund on the NONREFUNDABLE fee. But ONLY if I ordered the hotspot right then. When I asked she told me it was only because they were going to lose the rest of our service. My question to you....would YOU have taken it? Or just waited the 2 years; keep our Tmobile plan?
At this time we still have a datacard with Sprint that we're looking to cancel (after 6 years) so I am trying to decide if Verizon IS really worth it. Anyone else have this type of problem?

The data card was ordered by you, although you did not know what you actually wanted? Since it was your fault the restocking fee is legitimate. If you purchased the hot spot you say you wanted with the representative on the phone with thed $35 off, just what is the problem? Did you expect more?
You can move your other services over to Verizon but why would you? Verizon is more expensive than the others but has for now the best coverage. I always try out the customer service and support services before I switch or purchase any service. For the record Verizon is absolutely terrible, We called about Verizon Fios Broadband &TV and on the phone it was telephone hell pushing through a menu tree. A long wait time, and when we got to a live person they said sorry wrong department please hold and we will transfer your call, guess what? Dropped call and another 55 minutes of telephone crap.
Now their online help was just as bad. They have a virtual attendent. Can you believe that a cartoon for customer support.
It also was useless. Two strikes in two hours and still zero assistance. Told my wife I will not get those Verizon services.
You expect world class service from tgeir wireless division? Maybe that cartoon attendant is the next in Verizons wireless customer service.

Thanks. I've tried this and apparently the template I'm using is one of those where it doesn't work. I've tried dragging it as well as cutting a pasting but it always travels back to the end of the book. Maybe I can try changing the template temporarily, move the preface page, and then convert back to the original template. I'll experiment a little.

When i open a new tab i want the cursor to be at the beginning of the url (it was until this latest update, now the cursor is at the end of the url)

I have just taken the latest update to 22.0 from the last version.
In the past when i opened up a new tab the cursor would jump to the beginning of the URL and i could start typing. Now the cursor goes to the back of the URL and i have to double click the URL to type in a new one.
Let me try to be as clear as i can. I have had firebox set for long time so when i open a new tab google.com comes up, and google is also my home page.
I have not installed any options for a long time either. And nothing that has to do with tabs.
What i remember is as i opened a new tab the URL of it would turn blue and i could start typing in a new URL. Now when i open a new tab i see google.com come up in blue, then the url turns to https://www.google.com/ and the blue goes away and the cursor is at the end of the URL. I now have to double click the URL to type.

I switched to the "about blank" and then use my home icon to get to Google.com
It is not quit as good as it was but usable.
I think you should add two new check boxes in options under "tabs"
1 - When opening any new tab, put the focus of the cursor on the URL.
2 - When opening any new tab, put the focus of the cursor on the search box.
This will take care of the majority of people.

How to modify a Visual Studio project for having traces at the beginning and the ending of a function

I am working on a Visual Studio project (written in C) and in order to do some debugging, I would like to add traces.
This can be done in different ways:
int function_1();
{ #ifdef DEBUG

=>But as this implies that I need to copy the name of the functions everywhere, this is a lot of work.
A better approach:
int function_1();
{ #ifdef DEBUG
printf("%s \n", __FUNCTION__);
#endif... }
=> This is already better, but I still need to add those lines of code everywhere at the beginning (and the end) of my functions.
So I'm wondering, would it be possible to modify my Visual Studio project in such a way that some lines of code are added at the beginning and the ending of a function, and this for a whole file, project, solution? Does somebody know how to do this?

I Can't get the motion page to play at the beginning of the movie, it old shows up at the end of the movie, Help!!

Does someone know how to get the motion page in I-dvd to play at the beginning of the movie instead of at the end, which is what is happening with my situation??

Are you referring to the motion menu? Check to see if you have the project set to autoplay when you insert the disk in a player. That would bypass the menu and would drop you back into the menu at the end of the show.

I suggest to place the "reload page icon" at the beginning of the URL bar (and not at the end of it like done as far as Version 6.0 build 7536.25).
This way seems more coherent (to me):
* not far away with the other page control (close/reduce/iconize)
* not far away of any action if needed to type something like a new URL

If you don't see the Search bar after you RESTORE the Default Toolbar Set:
View > Toolbars > Customize and drag the SEARCH BAR to wherever you prefer.
For Refresh Button:
It has been incorporated into the far right end of the Address Bar. When you load a page, it is a "Stop" button, when it finished loading, it turns into a "Reload" button.
If you want it to be somewhere else in the Toolbar, you can drag it out to wherever you want. If that doesn't work, try this:
View > Toolbars > Customize and drag the Refresh/Stop icon into the window, then drag it back out to wherever you prefer.

Does this overwrite the music you have recorded? Or does it just insert 1 minute of silence and then play everything starting at measure 1?
Before you go to bounce the file 1) make sure the cycle is turned off in the transport window and 2) make sure no regions are selected. When you go to bounce it, check what the start and end times are.
Make sure the start time is 1-1-1-1.

I've a list of values which are hard coded in the 'Elements in List' property for a Combo Box. Now, I want to add a new value at the beginning of the list. It doesn't allow me to add one. I have to delete all values and re-enter from the first which includes the new one. Is there any way that I can add a new value at the beginning of the list without having to remove other values.

In order to implement the appropriate moves you have to use the key combinations : 1) <shift>+<ctrl>+'<' for deletion of the current list item(where the cursor is located)
2)<shift>+<ctrl>+'>' for appending a blank row in order to add a new element...

That seems very suspicious. Two suggestions.
First, try Firefox's Safe Mode. This will let you work around problems with add-ons and perhaps help you identify things to remove so that Firefox goes back to normal.
I recommend making a backup of your Firefox settings before starting in Safe Mode. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
Does that work? If so, you may need to disable your add-ons and just bring the most essential ones back to life until you discover the problem one.
Second thought: malware. You could supplement your usual security scans with these:

the songs i bought from itunes don't start at the beginning of the song, it's just the preview clip.

Been having the same problems myself. And I don't know about you but sometimes it'll take a while to get it to actually play the first song.

Blank page at the beginning of the report

I have a Report with a Group Above. I wanted a new page when a new Group began, so I selected the Group and changed Page Break Before to yes. It did start a new page with each Group, BUT there is now a blank page at the beginning of the report. How do I get rid of the blank page?

Hi Wayne,
I don't know whether the solution provided by Jrg works for you or not. But I solved the problem in a different way.
Insted using a page break on a repeating frame, I placed a boilerplate item in a corner just below the frame with a " "(white space) and I set the boilerplace item's property "Page Break After/Before" to "Yes". You understand me? just cheating ;)
That worked for me.

How to create links that guide you to a specific title on the page and not the beginning of the page?

I'm trying to create links so that when you click on a title in the table of contents it guides you to the title on the specific page. However, when I do that it always sends me to the beginning of the page even if the title is in the bottom. Anyone knows how to do if I want to get to the title and not to the beginning of the page? When I use Finereader it create links from the table of contents automatically and those links send me to the title no mater where it is on the page. I've tried do edit the settings to look like those links created in Finereader but it doesn't work.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI on a Mac Book Air.
